Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, listeners, I can't thank you not for stopping by.
It's time for another episode of the Paranormal Activity Podcasts.
You should be aware that this week's episode is a
continuation of last week's episode if you didn't catch last
week's episode. We started in on a general list of

(00:22):
some bizarre or otherwise paranormal happenings. We covered topics like
the Dot Lov Pass incidents, the disappearance of the Solder Children,
as well as the Mothman sightings, which we barely scratched

(00:42):
the surface. So we're going to kick it off there.
In nineteen sixties in Point Pleasant, West Virginia small town
where between November and December, dozens of people reported seeing
a strange, winged creature with glowing red eyes. The sightings

(01:06):
became linked to a tragic event, the collapse of the
Silver Bridge. It killed forty six people. The most famous
encounter occurred when two young couples, Roger and Linda Scarberry
and Steve and Mary Mallette, were driving near an abandoned

(01:31):
World War II munitions plant known as the T and
T Area. They saw a tall, human eyed figure with
massive wings and glowing red eyes. The creature chased their
car at speeds of over one hundred miles per hour
before they managed to escape. A contractor named Newell Partridge

(01:55):
claimed to have seen glowing red eyes in his barn,
heard an eerie mechanical sound humming. His dog ran after
the creature and was never seen again. A group of
grave diggers reported seeing a large, dark figure fly over

(02:16):
them at a cemetery just days before the first major siding.
Witnesses described a sense of overwhelming fear on ease, as
if the creature could induce panic just by looking at them.

(02:37):
On December fifteenth, nineteen sixty seven, the silverbridge connecting a
point pleasant to Ohio suddenly collapsed during rush hour, plunging
cars into the icy Ohio River, killing forty six people.

(02:58):
After this disaster, Mofman sightings stopped entirely. This led to
speculation that Mofman was a harbinger of doom, warning people
of impending tragedy. Some even believe he was responsible for

(03:19):
the collapse. Some theories as to Mothman. He could be
an alien or inter dimensional being. Some believe Mofman is
not a physical creature, but an entity from another dimension,

(03:41):
possibly related to UFO activity. Around the same time, UFOs
and men in black were reported in the area. Some
skeptics suggest that Mafman was simply a misidentified sand hill crane,
a large bird with red markings around its eyes. Given

(04:06):
that the TNT area was a former military facility, some
speculated Mothman was the result of a secret experiment gone wrong.
A Native American chief was killed in Point Pleasant in
seventeen seventy seven. Legend says he cursed the town, and

(04:26):
some believe Mothman is part of this curse. Despite the
collapse of the Silverbridge, Mothman has reported in other parts
of the world, including Chernobyl before the nuclear disaster, Mexico
City before an earthquake, and even before nine to eleven.

(04:49):
The legend endures, and Point Pleasant now hosts an annual
Mothman festival and has a Mothman statue in town. Next
up for today, the Taos Hum is ongoing in the
United States of America. The Taos Hum is a low frequency,

(05:11):
persistent humming sound heard by some residents and visitors in Taos,
New Mexico. It was first reported in the early nineteen nineties.
This mysterious sound has continued to perplex both locals and scientists.
It's been described as a steady hum, like the sound

(05:33):
of a distant diesel engine or machinery running, but no
identifiable source of the noise has been found. The hum
is not heard by every one in Taos, and it
tends to effect only certain individuals, leading some to wonder
whether it is a psychological or environmental phenomenon. It has

(05:56):
caused distress and discomfort for those who do hear it,
including symptoms like insomnia, headaches, anxiety, and even nausea. In
nineteen ninety three, a study by doctor Glenn Macpherson, an
engineer and researcher, suggested that two percent of Taus residents

(06:19):
were sensitive to the hum. His research revealed that those
who could hear it often described it as a low
vibrating hum. In nineteen ninety seven, the phenomena was featured
on the show Unsolved Mysteries, which brought more attention to it.
Over the years, several scientific teams have visited Taos to investigate,

(06:42):
but no definitive source has been found. Some researchers equipped
houses with sensitive microphones, yet even with high tech equipment,
these sound remained elusive. Some suggest that the hume could
be caused by geophysical or atmospheric phenomenon, such as low
frequency sound waves infrasound produced by underground water channels, natural

(07:09):
gas deposits, or geothermal activity. This would explain why only
some people are affected and why it's so difficult to trace.
Another theory points to industrial equipment, such as nearby military installations,
power lines, or radio towers. However, local authorities, including the

(07:34):
US government, have denied any connection to military operations. The
closest large industrial operations are not powerful enough to explain
the hum and the specific areas where it's heard. Some
have linked the hum to UFO sidings or alien activity.
UFO enthusiasts claim the sound is an unattended byproduct of

(07:58):
extra terrestrial ships or secret government experiments related to radar
technology or sonar waves. The idea of electromagnetic radiation interfering
with human perception is also a recurring theory. The theory
of the HUM being a psychosomatic response suggests that it

(08:22):
might be a mass psychological phenomenon triggered by certain social, environmental,
or psychological factors. Some studies suggest that the environmental stressors,
such as the isolation of rural areas, could cause people
to become more attuned to otherwise normal background noises, similar

(08:50):
to the Harp Project, a research program in Alaska. Some
conspiracy theorists believe that the hum could be the result
of military research into whether control or mind control technologies.
The idea is that certain low frequency sounds might affect
the human brain, creating the sensation of a hum or,

(09:15):
potentially even altering the mental state to those exposed to it.
Despite numerous studies and investigations, no scientific explanation has conclusively
identified the origin of the Taos hum. It continues to
affect a small percentage of residents and visitors. Some people

(09:36):
have moved out of town citing the unbearable noise. There
have been occasional reports of similar hums heard in other
locations worldwide, from Britain to Canada to Australia, though none
have been linked directly to the Taos hum. This global
connection leads some to speculate that it could be a larger,

(10:00):
unexplained phenomena, possibly tied to geological conditions or a universal
environmental factor. One of the most unsettling aspects is that
the hum appears to be an ongoing issue, leaving those
affected with little resolution or hope of identifying the cause.
The mystery of the taous hum remains unsolved, and it

(10:24):
has gained a place in the world of strange phenomena
that continues to intrigue people everywhere. I can't thank you
enough for stopping by for another episode of to Day's
paranormal Activity. Until next time, I hope you enjoyed, and
thank you so much for listening.
