Welcome back, everyone.
I'm Sophia Yvette, co-host andproducer back in the studio with
owner of Parcelpedia, JamesBanks.
James, how's it going today?
SPEAKER_01 (00:49):
Hey, Sophia, I'm
doing very well.
How are you?
SPEAKER_02 (00:52):
I'm doing also well,
James.
Now, today's topic, let's getinto it.
In-house services, documentprinting, resume printing,
laminating services, and shrinkwrapping.
Tell us about all of those.
SPEAKER_01 (01:06):
Oh, for sure, for
sure.
So obviously the title isin-house services, so just
focusing on everything that wedo right there in the store in
Frisco.
Um, and so we'll start off rightwith document printing, like you
said.
So, document printing sounds, you know, it is just what it
sounds like.
Uh, we help you print outdocuments, any documents you
need, um, whether it'sblueprints, you know, um closing
documents, um, power ofattorney, after David, whatever
(01:29):
it is you need, your kids'homework, uh, we help you print
it.
And a lot of people these daysthey just don't have a printer
anymore.
It used to be back in the day, everyone had a printer at home,
everyone complained about theink prices, but we still bought
it and we still print it.
Uh nowadays, people just don'tprint.
You know, most of things thesedays are kind of digital, you
know, a lot of DocuSign, thingslike that.
Uh, but every now and again youdo have a physical document that
they are asking you to printout.
(01:50):
And so we are here to help.
Um, I know most places likeFedEx, Office, King Go's, Off
Steples Staples, they have thosesame services, but they almost
always charge you like a flatprinting fee, which is like
time-based.
And like half the time, you'rejust trying to figure out how
their systems work so you canget your document printed.
It's like you hit the next tierof price, and it's like, man, I
just need one paper printed now.
(02:11):
How does it turn to$10?
What's going on?
Uh, so we try to make it easy, affordable, and just super
convenient for you to print yourdocuments.
Um, so I'll just kind of gothrough some of the different
ways we do that, um, how weoffer it and what all we offer.
So um, one of the ways, one ofthe ways we definitely recommend
as far as document printing isto send it to us via email.
Send us an email, say, hey, Ineed this printed.
(02:33):
You know, let us know black andwhite is fine, or I need color,
I need double-sided, I need Xamount, blah, blah, blah.
Uh, I need on this paper, youknow, card stock, um, resume
paper, um a color paper, like Ineed it on red.
Uh, whatever you need, you know,if we can offer it, we'll
definitely do that for you.
And by sending it via email, itallows us to gauge the job, tell
you how long it'll take, andthat way when you come by, it's
(02:54):
ready.
You just pay, pick it up, andyou're done.
Um, so we take out all thehassle out of it.
You know, you're not sittingthere waiting for a printer,
you're not clearing paper jams, you're not running to get more
paper, you know, this, that, andthe other, or sizing documents.
We take care of that for you.
So um another great service thatwe offer is we will let you know
before we print if it's gonnaactually like look the way you
(03:15):
want it to.
So sometimes people send adocument and they don't realize
you're like, hey, I need thisprinted on eight and a half by
11.
But they send an image or like aPDF, and for whatever reason,
it's sized down, it's like afour by six.
And so we blow it up, we do atest print, and it's just it's
just blur.
You know, you can't even seeanything, you can't read
anything.
And so we tell you that, hey,you know, unfortunately, this is
not gonna work for scalingpurposes.
(03:36):
If you have another file, pleaselet us know.
And so a lot of times, a lot oftimes out of 10, people are
like, oh, I'm so sorry, I sentyou the wrong file.
And then they fix it and thenthey correct it, and then we we
get it printed.
And it just helps save so muchtime because imagine getting all
the way up to the store, gettingyour car, driving, getting
there, and you got the thumbdrive and you have the wrong
file, and now you gotta go backhome and rinse and repeat,
right?
So this just helps uh mitigate alot of just waste, right?
(03:57):
And it helps give you whatyou're asking for and getting
you exactly what you need.
Um, and um with that, with thedocument printing, um, I know
one of the things you said,Sophie, was resume printing.
And so I definitely want tohighlight that because it's
something we do that's part ofour just philosophy of just
being we're in the community, sowe should be giving back to the
community, and we should be aum, you know, a hub in the
(04:18):
community that people know theycan come for help.
And so part of that is withresume printing, we always will
offer you the first five sets umfor free.
So, you know, you're out there,we know we understand the
economy is tough, you're tryingto work.
I mean, that's noble, you know,it's not like you're just coming
in, hey, you guys got some moneyfor me?
You know, you're like, hey, Ineed to print a resume because
you know I'm trying to get ajob.
(04:38):
That's awesome.
We and we're trying to help asmuch as we can.
And we know obviously if you'relooking for a job, there's a
good chance that your money's,you know, your budget's a little
bit tighter than it may normallybe.
Um, so if that helps you um toget five sets of resumes for
free and where you know, like, man, you know, I really don't
have money to pay for printoutsright now.
Come to Parcel Pedia, call usup, you know, send your resume
(04:59):
to us via email.
Um, and we'll we'll definitelyhelp you with that.
We'll print this first fivesets.
Now, the reason we cap as fiveis just because sometimes we
will have dope, you know, multiple page resumes, and we
want to help as many people aswe can.
So if we give out too many foryou, then I can't I gotta make a
cutoff at some point.
So five is a number.
If you need more than that, obviously we'll charge you for
the extra.
Um, but we'll also do reducedpricing on the extra sets for
(05:19):
you just to try to really makeit as as reasonable as we can.
Um, and so with the documentprinting, you know, we do offer
multiple sizes.
So really anything under 11 by17 but up to, we can print.
So 11 by 17 is the largest sizeof paper that I can physically
print in store.
Um, and so of course, because ofthat, anything under that I can
(05:40):
also do.
Um, color, black and white,double-sided, different types of
paper.
Again, I think I spoke about theresume paper, the card stock,
different color paper.
We have all that, and we'redefinitely here, I'll offer all
that to you.
Um, so that was just that's justdocument printing.
Um, moving on, we havelaminating services.
Um, this is one that I've alwayskind of maintained this level of
(06:02):
kind of not shock, but justsurprise of how often I am
running my laminating machine.
Like that and faxing are one ofthose things where it's just
like you'd think they're kind ofold, antiquated things, but no.
People need paper and plasticand they need stuff faxed.
And we do it every day, all day.
Just this week, actually, I dida 500-page lamination order for
(06:23):
a big company, yes.
And yeah, they called around, like everyone is just, you know,
they got this job last minute, they need it for this
conference.
Everywhere I've called around, they cannot do it in time.
Can y'all do it?
And I was like, oh man, 500,because that's a lot of pages
running.
You know, I don't know if forthe viewers, for anyone out
there who's never used alaminator machine, I'll just
(06:44):
give you a real brief um exampleor display of how it works.
So you get your sheet, you putit in your laminated plastic um
cover, that goes into anothersleeve to kind of protect it
from the heat and the roller, and then you put it inside a
machine that rolls it, heats itto seal it, and then you know,
spits it on the other side.
And the speed is about thisfast.
(07:05):
Yes.
So, yeah, imagine that you know, times 500, right?
Um, so when she gave me the job,you know, the first thing I'm
thinking is I have to find a wayto say yes because I want to
make her happy.
I want to show her that we cango above and beyond.
And you know, I want to be theone that that can do it.
You know, you call severalplaces, they can't do it.
Parcelpedia has to be the onethat can do it.
(07:25):
Um, so I went out and gotanother laminator.
I was like, I gotta make doubletime on this thing.
So we went out, we got twolaminating machines, and we
knocked it out.
And she was happy.
They were beautiful, pristine,double-sided cardstock.
I mean, they were really nicelaminated.
And it's so funny because um, ifyou think about a ream of paper,
that's 500 sheets of paper.
And if you've ever seen a reamof paper, they're about this
thick, like an inch and a half.
After we got done with thelaminating, you know, they get
(07:47):
thicker and thicker, these 500sheets were like about this
tall.
Yeah, we had to put it in a box,it was like 20 pounds.
Yes, it was.
I mean, it turned into a wholething, which was really cool.
Um, it was one of the biggerjobs as far as laminating goes
that we've ever done.
And so it was it was cool.
We knocked it out in about twodays.
So she got it in time, perfectlyin time, um, and everything
(08:08):
worked out.
So, you know, those are littlethings that you may not even
assume we can do, but we can do.
So don't ever, you know, beafraid to ask if we can do
something because has she justthought, oh parspeed, they're
kind of small, a little smallbusiness, they probably can't do
it.
Office depot can't do it, ifstables can't do it, they can't.
And as she never called us, shemay not have got that job done.
So I'm glad that she reachedout.
I'm glad that we were able tohelp her and knocked it out.
(08:29):
Um, and but the laminating, um,just to kind of touch back on
that, that does work verysimilar to my printing.
Um, laminating is a little bitsmaller, eight and a half by
eleven, like a standard sheet ofpaper, is as large as I can do.
Um, but I can always do anythingsmaller.
So if you want wallet size, youwant half sheet, you know,
little strips of paper forwhatever reason, we can do that
too.
Uh we can do shapes.
I mean, anything really youneed, if it's within that size,
(08:50):
um, I can I can make it and Ican do it for you.
Um, I think one of the thingsyou mentioned, Sophia, was
shrink wrapping.
Uh, that's another one of theservices where it's like people,
you know, they may ask and thenwe tell them yes, like, oh, you
know, I wasn't expecting a yes,but okay, cool, I'm gonna get my
stuff.
And so we offer it for small andlarge items.
We offer really great pricing.
We include book discounts.
So if you have like a big, youknow, a big set of things, and I
(09:13):
have like 50 things I need toget shrink wrapped, we'll offer
you a you know a good book ratethat way, you're not paying like
per item.
Um, and it's very quickly done.
I like to kind of brag my guys, they're really good with the
shrink wrap.
And so we knock out almost alljobs same day, especially if you
get it to me before noon.
We'll get it back to you beforewe close.
Um, so people obviously lovethat.
A lot of times they use it forlike storage purposes or just
(09:33):
pre-packing, you know, like,hey, I need a shrink wrap,
they're gonna get bubble wrap, Ineed to shrink wrap them all
first, and I don't have shrinkwrap, I don't know what I'm
doing, you know.
Can y'all do it for us?
Like, yeah, sure, no problem.
Um, and people have always said, like, oh man, that's that's good
price.
So that's how I I believe and Iknow our pricing is very good
and affordable.
Um, and one of the things thatwe didn't mention in the in the
beginning of this uh call that Idid want to kind of bring
(09:54):
attention to that we do in-houseis that we do and we offer
passport photos.
So that's another thing, youknow, people go around looking
for seeing who can do it, andtypically they're kind of turned
off from the pricing.
I think most convenience storeslike Walgreens CBS, um, they
charge like upwards of$20 forjust a couple of passport
photos.
And then if you don't know, ifyou're not sure, if you've never
(10:16):
had a passport, a passport photois two inches by two inches.
It is one of the smallest photosyou can take.
So I do not know where they getoff charging that much money.
I mean, to me, that's ridiculousbecause you're just taking a
photo, you're making sure itfits all the you know the
requirements, and then you hitprint.
The they're not doing anything,you know, they're not they're
not back there in the in thewhat do you call it, the dark
(10:37):
room with the red lights, youknow, processing the photos.
They're not doing any of thatstuff, they're just hitting the
button on the machine.
So come to Parsepedia, we'relike half price for most of
those places.
$9.99 for the first two.
We offer digital soft copies ifyou need.
We can print multiples at aneven greater discounted rate,
and we can offer passport photosfor multiple countries.
Most places you go say, Oh, wecan do US only, sorry.
(10:58):
And it's like, well, I need mypassport.
I, you know, I'm from Canada.
I need my passport for aCanadian size.
Can you do that?
Nope.
Parsip PD, we can.
You know, name the country.
We'll we'll do it because wejust have to follow the
guidelines.
You know, it's not it's nothard.
We we make it work.
So, passport photos.
I just want to bring attentionto that, you know, especially uh
people wanting to travel.
You may be looking at passport, like, oh man, six months left.
(11:18):
That's not good.
I need to renew, you know, andwe can help with the renewal,
especially US passport, we canhelp with that renewal too.
Because what you need for USpassport renewal is your
passport, the application, thepassport photo, and a payment.
And we can't help you with thepayment, you gotta come with
that with yourself.
But the other three we can do.
We can print your applicationfor you, we can take those
photos, print them the same day,and we can get your mailing for
(11:40):
you.
So you literally have it all, doit all in one shop, send it off,
and you're good.
You have your tracking number, you know your payment's done,
and you could keep your digitalcopy or your photo so you know
that your photo's good.
So we just try to, again, youknow, we're always looking for
ways to streamline things orjust make things easy.
We think of a project and say, what is the most annoying parts
of this project?
(12:01):
And then we take that and we andwe leave the easy part for you.
So we just, you know, are alwayscontinuing trying to do that and
and expanding our in-houseservices to offer more and more
ways uh to help customers.
And Sophia, I'm very curious ifthere's anything that you think
um, as far as like you know, little stuff you have to do,
Aaron type of things that itjust really drive you nuts.
(12:22):
You're not you're not a fan ofdoing.
I'm curious, what are what aresome things like that?
SPEAKER_02 (12:27):
Um, well, I know for
today we're almost out of time,
but I would say laminating isdefinitely one of the things.
SPEAKER_01 (12:35):
Okay, yes.
Yeah, no one, it's boring, itgets hot too.
Those machines get hot, theythey throw out a lot of heat.
But yeah, we'll take it, we'llsweat for you.
It's no big deal.
We'll we'll nominate for you andwe'll get it to you back the
same day.
So yeah, I'm I'm happy you saidlaminated because we do that
obviously a lot and we do uh Ilike to say good job.
The guys at the store are alwaysworking really hard.
And yeah, I mean, in-houseservices, we're always growing.
(12:57):
So if we offer it, we're nevergonna take it off the table.
We're just gonna add more to themenu.
SPEAKER_02 (13:01):
So wow, James, it
really is a one-stop shop.
They're a parcel PDM, huh?
SPEAKER_01 (13:06):
Yes, man, that's
what we're aiming for.
We're doing driver licensesnext.
No, no, I'm just joking.
Okay, let me just joking, justjoking.
Don't want to step on the toesof the government.
unknown (13:18):
Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01 (13:19):
Don't want uh Texas
dot coming after me.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (13:23):
Well, great to hear
how these services make life
easier for your customers, andI'll see you next time.
SPEAKER_01 (13:29):
All right, thanks,
Sophia.
