SPEAKER_01 (00:32):
From convenience to
security, private mailboxes
offer more than meets the eye.
Let's unpack the benefits.
Welcome back, everyone.
I'm Sophia Yvette, co-host andproducer, back in the studio
with owner of Parcelpedia, JamesBanks.
James, how's it going today?
SPEAKER_02 (00:49):
Hey Sophia, I'm
doing well.
How are you today?
SPEAKER_01 (00:52):
I am doing well
also.
Now, glad to be back here withyou, James.
Today's topic is inside themailbox, exploring the endless
possibilities.
Take it away.
SPEAKER_02 (01:04):
All right, thank you
for that introduction.
Yeah, so today talking aboutmailboxes.
I know we've definitely touchedon that topic here on the
podcast before, uh, but justwant to take another uh whack at
it to go a little bit morein-depth and kind of explore all
the different options that comewith it.
Um so just to start off the maindifference uh between a private
mailbox that we offer for rentat Parcelpedia, uh between a
(01:27):
post office box, which mostpeople are familiar with at the
post office, is that uh theydiffer in what you can do with
them as far as um purpose anduse, right?
So, first thing, um a P.O.
box is just that.
It's just a box at the postoffice.
So most, I mean, almosteverybody will not recognize it
as an actual physical address.
(01:48):
So if you're trying to set up acompany, if you're trying to get
something like shipped to youinternationally, um if you're
trying to receive a courier orlike a private carrier, um they
will not deliver to a PO box.
They'll just tell you, you know, give me a different address.
So it's nice to have you know aseparate address when you want
to kind of keep things separatefrom your personal life, um, but
it it limits you.
You can only do so much.
(02:09):
So the private mailbox kind ofcomes into that gap and fills
that gap.
So at a private mailbox, uh,like we have to offer, it is a
street address.
You can establish a company likeLSC, uh S-Corp.
Uh, you can receive all types ofmail, so not just US Mail, you
can get FedEx, UPS, DHL, privatecarriers can come to your
mailbox.
Um, some people use it as a dropshipping point.
(02:31):
Um, so their mailbox is theirdropship address so that if
someone is trying to you knowlook them up or you know find
them, they're not going to theirhouse or something like that.
Um, you can use it for packagecollection.
Um, fortunately, we live in theera of uh what they call porch
pirates, right?
People that take packages off ofpeople's porches just because
they don't have anything elsebetter to do, I guess, or you
(02:53):
know, don't mind going to jailfor a small package.
Um, but unfortunately it's areal thing, it's reality.
You know, you order something, you've been anticipating it, you
get home, and it's it's notthere.
It's probably one of the worstfeelings you can have.
Uh so that's the reason a lot ofpeople open a mailbox.
It's they have a secure locationwhere they can have things,
again, from any carrier, uhdelivered there.
(03:13):
They know it's signed for, theyknow it's safe and secure, and
then they can pick it up attheir convenience.
So if they have to, you know, wait till after work, that's
fine.
If they want to get it the nextday, wait till the weekend, they
know it's somewhere safe andthey're not worried about it.
It's not out in the rain, it'snot you know down the road at
the neighbor's house.
You know, it's it's where it'ssupposed to be.
Um, and with that, you know, ifyou're out of town, out of the
(03:34):
country, you don't have toreschedule things, you just let
it go.
You know, you let it bedelivered, we take care of it,
we notify you um by yourpreference, whether that's call,
text, or email.
Um, and then you can pick it upat your convenience.
So those are just some of thefew things.
Um, it also comes with a lot ofthe services that we offer
in-house, uh, which we'redefinitely going to touch on
later.
(03:54):
Um, they come as part of yourmailbox.
It's kind of a uh complimentarything.
Um, and some other reasons thatyou would want to get a mailbox
or ways you can utilize themagain for like say your
business, your small business.
Um, we have a lot of people thatdo the dropship service or they
do e-commerce uh online sales.
And with that, you know, ifyou're selling high volume, the
(04:15):
chances of having returns andincrease.
So if you're moving 200, 300,400 units a month and you say
have about a 10% you know returnrate, that's 20, 30, 40 packages
coming back to you.
And so the way we do it uh witha lot of our customers is we set
up a basically just a pickuptime, like maybe once a month,
once every two weeks.
And so we compile, you know, getall those returns, you stockpile
(04:37):
them for them, keep them all inone secure location, and then
when they come to pick them up,then get them all.
So, you know, we don't forcethem to pick one, you know, as
soon as one comes in, hey, yougotta come get this package, you
know, they can let it compile, they know it's all safe, and
then say at the end of the weekor the weekend, they can go
through them all and see whatthey have.
So um a lot of just benefits tothat, um, to having that private
mailbox.
(04:57):
Um, again, you know, when youhave the private mailbox, you
have control over your addressin your mail.
Um, I think a lot of us canattest to the crazy amount of
junk mail that comes into yourmailbox, you know, on a regular
basis.
Uh it's, I don't know, ink isexpensive, paper is expensive.
I don't know how these companiesjust continue to pump out this
junk mail that just goes rightin the trash.
(05:18):
I don't get it.
But uh, but we all haveexperience that we know, right?
The junk mail is like sometimes, especially those U-line
magazines, we've all seen thoselike this thick.
And you know, you don't have ause for them.
Um, and so when you have aprivate mailbox, you don't have
to worry about that.
You know, as far as people thathave your new address, it's just
who you've given it to, youknow.
You say, hey, this is myaddress, you know, send my
(05:39):
checks there.
You know, the stuff you want toget in the mail.
Um, and so because of that, youhave much more control, it's a
much more streamlined um, youknow, amount of mail that's
coming your way.
And it's for the most partimportant stuff, you know.
You know, go to the mailbox andyou're getting stuff that you
need, not just a bunch of junk.
So um, those are just uh a fewof the reasons people get the
mailbox, but obviously it kindof highlights and shows all the
(06:00):
different benefits to having uha mailbox.
Um, and again, if you're a smallbusiness owner, you don't, you
know, you probably don't want tohave your business linked to
your personal, you know,residential address.
Because if you have adisgruntled customer or someone
that's you know wants to seewhat you're about and they look
you up online, you know, you maynot want them knocking on your
door at nine o'clock at nightand saying, Hey, is this you
know JB's, you know, welding?
(06:21):
It's like, uh yeah, but we'reclosed.
Trying to eat dinner with myfamily.
What are you doing?
You know, so it just helpsseparate that, kind of give you
that buffer between yourbusiness and your personal life.
Um, but it doesn't stop you fromhaving a mailbox for personal
reasons.
We have a lot of people that, you know, for the package
reason.
They want to get, you know, itmaybe be high um high-priced
(06:42):
items, expensive things thatneed to be signed for, and they
work a lot, you know.
It's like I can never be at homewhen they come by and try to get
a signature and they re-attempt,re-attempt, reattent, and then
it goes back to the sender, andI gotta do this whole, you know,
this whole dance.
And so we help with being ableto accept, being able to sign on
their behalf, and then of coursenotify them.
Like, hey, your package thatcame in is here.
And sometimes it's really coolwhen you see a package that, you
(07:03):
know, for you as a customer, forus, for us as employees at
Parcelpedia, it's just a brownbox.
You know, it's a brown box witha customer's name on it.
So we don't know who what it is,where it's coming from.
But we notify them, and man, ifit's something important, you'll
know because they'll shoot backthe email and like light speed,
like, yes, you know, finallyit's here, I'll be right there.
And so it's always cool.
It's like we somehow getinvolved in the excitement.
(07:24):
And again, we don't even knowwhat's in the box, but they're
so excited, we love to see theexcitement on their face.
So just being able to be thataid or that help uh for that is
pretty cool.
We we we definitely like that.
So um, you know, as far asmailboxes, I know we said
endless possibilities.
I can continue and talk more andmore and more.
Um, I'm curious, Sophie, if youhave any questions or you think
(07:46):
of any things that you werecurious about, like how you can
use a mailbox or some things youcan do with it or what you can
do like around it.
I'm curious if you have anyquestions for our viewers.
SPEAKER_01 (07:57):
Yeah, um, one
question for you are there any
seasonal or promotional mailboxoptions available?
SPEAKER_02 (08:04):
Yes, so yes.
So our mailboxes, um, as far aslike seasonal, and we don't do
anything that's seasonal, wedon't force you to you know wait
a month or two months to get amailbox.
The way we work all ourpromotions or our um promotional
pricing is within the mailboxitself.
So it's year-round.
Um, you don't have to be a newcustomer.
You could have had a mailbox, closed it, and came back, and
that offer is always on thetable.
(08:24):
Um, and that is with our ourlength of rental.
So basically, the longer timeyou rent, the more free months
we give you on top of your term.
And so our customers who havebeen there for years, they do it
every time.
They're like, you know, this itjust makes a no-brainer.
It's like I pay basically if Idivide the amount I paid versus
the months you're getting me,I'm paying a cheaper rate than
(08:46):
citywide, anywhere, you know, anywhere you go, UPS store, you
know USPS.
Um, and so it's a really greatincentive.
And like we love that it's not,you don't have to wait for
Christmas time or springtime.
It's just it's always there.
You know, we're uh we're thattype of company where we always
like to be able to give out thebest deal possible.
Um, so it's always on the tablebecause again, you know, it's
(09:07):
kind of similar to how I'vetalked to you before about
there's no loyalty program atParcel Pedia.
It's like if you're a customer,we're gonna give you the best
deal possible.
Whether it's you're just comingby on you know your trip to
Dallas, you've never been herebefore, you'll never come back
again, but you happen to stop byParcel Pedia, you're gonna get
the best deal of someone who'sbeen coming to me for six years
straight.
And it's not to say that the youknow continued customers or the
ones that come readily don't getthe best deal.
(09:28):
They're always seeing the bestdeal, and that's why they come
back.
So we just like to come, youknow, always offer you know what
is the best option uh for ourcustomers.
SPEAKER_01 (09:37):
Wow, James, thank
you so much for walking us
through the possibilities.
