In 2007, Fox was experiencing the unparalleled success of the reality TV show American Idol. The show was reaching millions each week in the audience and Fox decided to try a new reality show called On the Lot.
The premise of the show was that it would be a single-season reality show and online competition for filmmaking that would be produced by world-renowned producers: Steven Spielberg, Mark Burnett, and David Goffin.
Jason Epperson submitted his footage to the show and was selected to be on the show. The next several weeks took Jason on a rollercoaster ride that led him to be one of the final two contestants on the show where he stood before some of the most renowned producers in the filmmaking industry.
In this episode, we chat with Jason about his first days in video along with how he left central Kentucky to go to Hollywood and how his connections and knowledge of Hollywood helped him when he returned to central Kentucky to establish his film and production company Eppic Films.
