Speaker 1 (00:02):
It zis Power Power with Gabriella Power.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Hello and welcome to Power Hour. I'm Gabriella Power. Thank
you for your company. Well, the Democrats are in shambles.
It's been nine months since they lost the election and
they're still failing to develop a strong attack line. They
push back against anything and everything that Donald Trump does,
even when the President is making decisions that will improve

(00:28):
the safety of citizens. And what is more important than
safety and making sure that city is are safe to
live in. Democrats might want to think about that because
their latest pathetic attempt to fight back against Trump's crime
crackdown in Washington, DC is embarrassing. DC is a city
with one of the highest violent crime and homicide rates

(00:49):
in America. Just this year, there have been one hundred
homicides and will show you how much they seem to
care about this in a moment. But here is Donald
Trump earlier this week showing real leadership, going.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
To take our capital back. We're taking it back under
the authorities vested in me as the President of the
United States. I'm officially invoking Section seventy forty of the
District of Columbia Home Rule Act. You know what that is,
And placing the DC Metropolitan Police Department under direct federal control,

(01:22):
and you'll be meeting the people that will be directly
involved with that.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
And if you need reminding of how the Democrats handled
crime in DC, well here's Joe Biden's White House Press
Secretary Carraine Jean Pierre back in twenty twenty three announcing
that the Democrats back to law to reduce the penalties
for crimes such as murder.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
We have a couple of things that I just want
to lay out for all of you, and on what
the DC bill does. It reduces maximum penalties for offenses
like murders and other homicides, armed home invasion burglaries, armed
carjackings as I mentioned, armed robberies, unlawful gun and some
sexual assault offenses.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Reducing penalties for crimes such as murder.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
That ought to do it.

Speaker 6 (02:08):
Well.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
It turns out what days needed was a new president
and Donald Trump's crime crackdown is already working. On the
first day, federal and local authorities arrested twenty three people,
including suspects wanted full murder, gun offenses, and other crimes.
But the Democrats they just don't want to know about it.
Senator Chuck Schumer would rather the out of control crime

(02:30):
just continue because he's never personally been affected.

Speaker 7 (02:35):
A lot of folks on the Republican side, your Republican
colleagues say that they are very scared to walk outside
in DC. That they think this is completely the right
thing to do, Senator, Are you scared walking around Washington, DC?

Speaker 8 (02:47):
These days?

Speaker 9 (02:48):
I walk around all the time. I wake up early
in the morning sometimes and take a nice walk is
the sun is rising around some of the capital and
the other monuments and things, and I feel perfectly safe
of it. Look, here's what they've done, Aaron, plain and simple.
Donald Trump wants to distract.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Even the mainstream media gets it. Of course, there have
been some meltdowns, which will show later in the program,
but even left wing hosts have been admitting that liberals
in DC are privately cheering about this because they want
to live in a safe city.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
And you know, the Democrats have a real, real problem.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
When they kind of miss smart enough to pick their battles.
They're right now essentially fighting for crime to stay high
as they push back against Donald Trump.

Speaker 5 (03:35):
But even CNN.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Has been forced to report that the Democrats have completely
stuffed up.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Their response to this.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
This is a CNN article out this week that says
Donald Trump gets what he wants in DC crackdown as
Democrats fumble response. And I think Donald Trump might be
onto something here when he says this.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
They're stuck, they don't know what to do. They have
probably more say more than half are sane, but they
are led by insane people.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
It's time for media meltdowns.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
And Joy Raid never says is to amaze me when
it comes to her completely insane analysis about what Donald
Trump is doing. The XMSNBC host has claimed that Donald
Trump wants to deport people of color and then use
them for slave live of.

Speaker 10 (04:26):
Which, given the fact that Trump is seventy nine years
old and comes from a certain generation, means black people
are just not doing the work.

Speaker 5 (04:32):
They're just not in the fields anymore. They're not coming
into the field.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Doesn't come naturally to them anymore.

Speaker 10 (04:38):
Okay, So just to be clear, if you are a
mega voter who supported Trump in order to see millions
and millions of non white migrants deported, he just told
you that the violent, militarized, masked ice deportations that he
and Steven Miller and Christy Norman, Tom Holman are staging
on camera to entertain and pease you or temporary. He

(05:04):
intends to bring the deportees right on back here soon
somehow to get them to want to come back because
they make the perfect nearly slave labor.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
There is just too much to unpack about that, but
that rant was during an episode of her podcast, The
Joyread Show. The White House was asked about her comments
by Fox News Digital, and spokeswoman Abigail Jackson responded by saying,
there is a reason Joyread Show got counseled.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
Yes, there is.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Her tags were too dumb even for MSDNC. President Trump
is committed to her ensuring American businesses have the legal
workforce needed to be successful and that workers receive fair
compensation and adequate workforce protections. Illegal employment exposes workers to
potential trafficking, exploitation, and other dangerous situations. Well, let's bring

(05:54):
in now. RNC Youth Advisory Council Co Chair CJ. Pearson, CJ.
Thank you for joining us again. What do you make
off joy Read's latest rant?

Speaker 6 (06:03):
You know, Joy and Rita actually makes me kind of
support the Australian method of healthcare because if it means
a free xanax for her, maybe she'll just calm down right.
These allegations that the President Trump everything that he does
is some racist agenda against the black community is not
just divorce from reality, it's divorced from truth. This is
the president who continues to deliver for the black community
time and again, whether it's from record Colonel Justice reform,

(06:25):
and record investment in communities. And also too, the idea
that somehow waging a war and legal immigration in this
country is somehow equated with waging a war on black
people who were born and raised in this country is just.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Insane, absolutely insane.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Now, President Trump announced this week that he would be
taking control of DS's Metropolitan Police Department and deploying eight
hundred National God troops to the nation's capital. Now, there
are of course Democrats Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, others who
just hate this because it is Donald Trump who is
doing it.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
And this of course some in the media who.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Are trying to develop an argument that all crime stats
are coming down, which is a really stupid argument given
the city has already seen one hundred homicides this year.
But we have to give credit where credit is d
You an MSNBC host Joe Scarborough.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
Of all people.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Well, he even admitted that privately, Democrats are cheering about
this move because it's going to make DC safer.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
Take a look.

Speaker 11 (07:24):
We'll just go back to the fact that the people
that are cheering this on privately are not like right
wing Republicans, are not maga people. A lot of our
friends are in the media and also Democrats that worked
on Joe Biden's campaign, that worked on other campaigns that
are saying, yeah, I'd like to feel safe walking around

(07:45):
this city. If the federal government can be a positive
partner in keeping the streets safe while again forming a
partnership with the DC police and not take over, then
I at least the people I've spoken with that live
in DC day in, day out see this as a positive.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
Step, Isn't it interesting? Now.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
I'll get into the backlash in a moment, but CJ
have to get your thoughts on the President's decision and
what it says when you've got people like Joe Scarborough
supporting it.

Speaker 6 (08:22):
Let me just say God blessed President Trump for keeping
our nationals, our nation's capital safe. You know, we're supposed
to be a shining sea on a hill. We can't
be that if we continue to allow the so called
youth to run a mock in this community, causing crime,
a flinting violence onto people who are unsuspecting, and it's
just downright wrong. Public safety is not a person issue.
It's a non partisan issue. And so to see folks

(08:43):
like Joe Scarborough come out and say that they support
the president's actions, I'm not surprised to hear people texting
him and saying that they support the president's actions.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
I am not surprised.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
What's interesting to me is that unlike other his other
MSNBC colleagues who are somehow calling this a racist act,
this is actually going to protect more black people than
it's so called targets. You want to know why, because
the inner cities like Washington, d C. We don't know
who disproportionately suffers from violence like this, Black and.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Brown people do.

Speaker 6 (09:11):
So the argument that somehow the president is waging a
war on Black Americans is so crazy that I guarantee
you if you ask actual black people in his community
or they welcome the president's actions, it would be resoundingly
in support of it.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Well, you mentioned it's not everyone over at MSNBCA. That's
full Trump's decision. Here is Samone Sandez take a listen.

Speaker 11 (09:32):
You don't think more police make streets safer.

Speaker 12 (09:36):
No, Joe.

Speaker 13 (09:37):
I'm a black woman in America. I do not always
think that more police next streets safer. When you walk
down the streets of Georgetown, you don't see a police
officer on every corner, but you don't feel unsafe. So
what is it about talking about places like Southeast DC
right ward eight? If you will that people say, well,
we need more officers to make us safe. I think
we have to rethink what safety means in America.

Speaker 5 (10:00):
Cj.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
If you're a black woman in America, you can't possibly
support this.

Speaker 6 (10:04):
Well, get really, I live in Southeast CC. When I
see a police officer walking down the street, I actually
do feel more safe. But let's be honest here also
as well, the main proponents behind the defund police movement.
They were white liberals, not black folks, not black women,
not black men, but white liberals who wanted to feel
as if they were doing something. They wanted to feel
as if they were social justice warriors. So while Simone

(10:25):
Sanders decides to carry the water of those cosmopolitan liberals,
and I'll push back on that because I believe that
black single mothers in America deserve to feel safe. They
deserve to have the comfort of knowing that when their
child goes out and play on the sidewalk in Southeast
CC or Baltimore, Detroit, wherever they may be, they will
not come home in a body back. And that requires leadership,
That requires a cultural change within the black community that

(10:48):
President Trump is bringing about. So Simone Sanders, while she
can live in her probably gated community here and outside
of DC, I doubt she lives in DC. I think
she probably lives in Virginia. I'm sure she feels very
very safe there. But folks, actually DC, we welcome the
President's actions and we thank him for.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
Yeah, well said well.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
D c.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Mitropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith is going viral for all
the wrong reasons.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
Now.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
She previously served as the department's first Chief Equity Officer,
where she led the department's efforts on DEI, and now
she's going viral because it appears that she didn't understand
the question from the media about the department's chain of command.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
What the chain of command is?

Speaker 14 (11:28):
Now?

Speaker 9 (11:29):
What does that mean?

Speaker 6 (11:29):
Well?

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Is it Pam Bondie's Greek is in America.

Speaker 6 (11:32):
How does this work?

Speaker 15 (11:33):
So the executive order is clear the President has requested
MPD services, and our Home Rule Charter outlines the process.
The President designated Attorney General Bondi as his proxy to
request services through me.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
Well, see, Jay, that is so awkward. It's that awkward.

Speaker 6 (11:57):
It's just embarrassing, right, you know, folks like this DC police.
She proved that DII doesn't just mean diverse secretary inclusion,
but it also means did not earn it. And so
I think it's actually crazy that we continue to see
people like this in positions of power. But it's unsurprising
when you see the results of what we're seeing all
across Washington. When we see again young people running a
mock committing acts of violence, and of course seeing no recourse,

(12:20):
being subject to things like yoga classes to help you
get them back on the right track. It's absolutely insane.
But thankfully the adults are back in charge in Donald
Trump's Washington. We're gonna see Pambody write this problem. We're
gonna see cash Hotel rite this problem. And but most important,
we're gonna see President Trump make our shining city on
a hill, the Shining City on the Hill the brightest

(12:40):
that it could ever be.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Now, First Lady Milania Trump is set to put Hunts
of Biden on a one billion dollar notice over comments
that he made during the interview on Channel five with
Andrew Callahan. Now, Milania Trump claims that the son of
the former US President Joe Biden made false tofemetry, disparaging
and in some Tree's statements about her. And she's demanded

(13:03):
that the content be removed immediately, and it's also called
for him to issue an apology or face legal action. Well,
I was not expecting a legal fight between Milania Trump
and Hunter Biden in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
What do you make of this?

Speaker 6 (13:19):
Belinia? And Trump does not play around, and God bless
her for it. You know, I think you know, Hunter Biden,
if he keeps us up, he continues to spread lives
about this First Lady, he's going to have to make
some more of those three hundred million dollar paintings. But
I have a feeling that they probably won't sell for
as much now that Joe Biden is not in office.
But here's the deal, I think again, where Conservatis need
to fight back. You know, when the lamestreem media continues
to lie about us. When liberal folks like Hunter Biden

(13:41):
continue to lie about us, let them know that it's
time to aff around and fight out. And I think
that's what Malania Trump is doing exactly now.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
Democratic whistleblower told the FBI that Adam Schiff approved leaking
classified information in order to discredit President Donald Trump, according
to newly released documents Now. Documents, which are obtained by
Just the News were recently handed over to Congress by
FBI Director Cash Battel, and according to the report, the
intelligence staffer called the leaking treasoness and illegal.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
Say Jay, what more can you tell us about this?

Speaker 6 (14:15):
I think what we need to do is take a
hard look at this, and I think the do jan
or this president will do exactly that. You know, under
the previous administration, we saw a weaponization of justice unlike
anything we have ever seen before. But as we continue
to uncover, as Cash Battel and Danbong Gino and many
other in the HBI continue to look for, is corruption
unlike anything that the American people could ever imagine. And

(14:36):
so I think that these people need to be held accountable.
Investigations need to ensue, and I hope that you know,
justice will be as fair as aggressive as it was
under the previous administration, and if it is, folks like
Adam Schiff will be held to account and rightfully so.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Now there are reports that the Trump administration and Harvard
University close to reaching a settlement of five hundred million dollars.
According to the New York Times, White House negotiators have
made significant progress in their discussions with the university now cj.
This of course, comes after the Trump administration froze more
than two billion dollars in funding to Harvard and threatened

(15:10):
to revoke its tax exempt status due to Harvard and
all the university's failure to address anti Semitism.

Speaker 6 (15:18):
You know, I think, you know, we say this thing
in gen Z's make their pockets hurt. I think this
president certainly learned how to do just that. And I
think that's the only way these institutions are going to
learn with their incredible billion dollar endowment funds. Right, and so,
I think there is no place for anti Semitism in
this country. There's no place for ainti Semitism on our
college campuses. But also too, let's go back to just
a few years ago. These college campus are not just

(15:41):
breeding grounds for anti Semtism, but they're breeding grounds for
anti Americanism, anti Western civilization. And so I think it's
long pass these universities learn their lesson, and I love
to see a president fighting so hard to bring that
lesson out.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Finally, we've got to talk about Sidney twenty again. It's
a story or the advertisement. I guess that keeps going,
it never ends. But a new Economist Yugov poll found
that up to twelve percent of Americans found Sydney Sweeney's
American Eagle ad campaign offensive.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
You know, we have played some of the reactions.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
And the insane reactions from lefties crying about it on TikTok.

Speaker 5 (16:18):
We play that year in our show a couple of
weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
But CJ twelve percent, I mean, who are these people
that find Sydney Sweeney her heart sexy ad offensive. Surely
we could all be celebrating that hotness is back.

Speaker 6 (16:32):
Okay, Really, all I have to say is I want
you to imagine what this twelve percent of people look like.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
And the fair point, c jpissent, It is great to
speak with you.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
Thanks so much for joining us on Power Hour.

Speaker 6 (16:45):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 8 (16:46):
Good to see it.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
President Donald Trump will meet with Vladimir Putin in Alaska
at the end of the week in an effort to
bring an end to the war with Ukraine. Now, Ukraine's president,
Vladimir Zelenski will not be attending the talks, and this
will be the first meeting between In Vladimir Putin and
a US president since the war began. Joining us now
is broadcaster and commentator Carmine Savior. Carmen, thank you for

(17:12):
joining us.

Speaker 5 (17:13):
Now.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
We know that Donald Trump is warning Russia that Russia
will face the via consequences if it does not agree
to a cease fire with Ukraine.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
What are you expecting to come from this meeting?

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Not much.

Speaker 16 (17:25):
I think this meeting is more of a showman kind
of thing. I think this is for these guys to
meet and basically show the world that hey, look we've
met and we're talking to each other. But I don't
see it being productive. I don't think they're actually going
to reach any agreements here.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Okay, Well, I want to talk to you about the
crisis in the UK because the number of migrants to
cross the English Channel in boats since Kirs Starmer came
to power last year has surpassed fifty thousand.

Speaker 5 (17:54):
Fifty thousand.

Speaker 11 (17:55):
Now.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Separately, French authorities confirmed that a woman died on Monday
while trying to board a boat to make the crossing
to the UK.

Speaker 5 (18:02):
Just awful.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Now, this is a clear failure of leadership and there's
plenty of frustration in the UK at the moment.

Speaker 5 (18:10):
What do you make of this?

Speaker 16 (18:13):
It's it's incredibly sad, but the UK has been so
weak for so long on this issue.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
It's late.

Speaker 16 (18:20):
They've rolled out the red carpet and now you want
to pull it back and now you want to say
stop coming.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
But it's too late.

Speaker 16 (18:26):
You know, it's like closing the stable after the horse
has already left.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
You know, it's I think it's too late.

Speaker 16 (18:32):
I don't see a way without actually being you know
more Donald Trump Lake kind of being meaner about this
and being stronger about this, that.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
You're going to shut this down. You know, you have
to be out there on boats.

Speaker 16 (18:46):
You have to be turning away these boats, you have
to be bringing these people, you know, locking them up
if you have to.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
But it has to stop. And the only way you're
going to stop it is to be tough.

Speaker 16 (18:55):
And I see starmer, you know, I listen to him,
I read what he says, and he's still he's still
dancing around the issue. He still doesn't actually understand what
the problem is, I think, and so he can't solve it.
If you can't understand the problem, you can't solve it.
He still wants to be politically correct. I guess on
the world stage, he's still a globalist, and ultimately that's

(19:17):
the failure. I don't know if there's a way out
of this for the UK anymore, and that worries me.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Well.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Kiostama is being worn that it's never been easier to
be a people smuggler. The Independent has this exclusive that
people smuggling arrests have fallen under labor. So despite kis
Stama's pledge to smash the gangs, data by the UK's
Crime Agency shows that people smuggling arrests a down sixteen
percent since the previous Tory government.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
What does that say?

Speaker 16 (19:47):
Says he's weak, Yeah, and it says they know he's weak.
You know, that's that's inherently the problem. Joe Biden suffered
the same thing. You know, he talked the nice words,
but gang activity, people smuggling, drug smuggling, all increase under
Joe Biden because they knew he was weak. Starmar is weak.
He presents himself as weak. If you follow his ex

(20:10):
account and I check in on it from time to time.
Everything the guy says is weak. He exudes weakness. Yeah, so, Noah,
you could talk about your gut to crackdown and that
sounds real nice.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
But what have you done?

Speaker 16 (20:22):
He hasn't done anything, and that cofferent only is the problem.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Well, you can say why Nigel Farage is well ahead
in the polls and US Vice President Jady Events and
Reform uk Leada and I Defrage have met for breakfast
in the cotsworld. Now, I want to look back at
this brilliant speech by Jaded Events at the Munich Security
Conference earlier in the year.

Speaker 5 (20:43):
He had a clear.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
Message to Britain and to Europe about his genuine concerns
over what is happening to free speech and the direction
that they're heading in.

Speaker 11 (20:53):
And Britain and across Europe.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Free speech, I fear is in retreat.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
Look, I think Jady Vance is absolutely brilliant and he's
spot on. What do you make of, obviously what dat
E Vance has to say about free speech where it's
potentially heading in the UK. And also what you make
of Data Evans meeting with Nigel Farage. Is it a
sign perhaps at Jetty Vance suspects he might know who
he will be dealing with in the future.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
I think that's absolutely correct.

Speaker 16 (21:23):
I think that Farage has a really good job because
you know, the same reason Trump got elected is the
same reason somebody like Farage can get elected, which is
people have had it.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
That's what has to ultimately happen. You can't wait for
the government.

Speaker 16 (21:35):
The people have to be at a point where they're
saying that's it, we can't take any.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
More of this.

Speaker 16 (21:42):
As far as free speech, I was actually just talking
about this earlier with another person. I have a very
easy litmus test for whether or not you have free speech,
and it's in your country. Can you get arrested for
saying certain words? If the answer to that question is yes,
then you don't have free speech. It's a very easy

(22:03):
litmus test. And it occurs to me that in places
like the UK, for example, there only seems to be
one group of people that you can comfortably attack, mock,
make fun of, and have no issues, and that would
be white male Christians. If you can, that's the open

(22:23):
season on them, but pretty much every other group is
off limits. And you can literally, like you have to
understand as an American, how that blows my mind the
idea that there are certain words you can say that
can get you in legal trouble, so that that's such
a foreign, alien concept to an American that I don't

(22:44):
even know how to wrap my mind around that. And
I think Farage, I think Farage hopefully has has a
really good shot. I think, you know, I think the
British people have are at a point where they've had
I talk to a lot of British people. I have
a lot of British friends, and I mean I have
and know people that are hardcore, hardcore anti Trumpers that
have literally said to me that we need our on Trump.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
So that interesting people are at that point.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
Yeah, No, it says so much, doesn't it.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
And you can understand how they've got their car and
Savior broadcaster and commentator.

Speaker 5 (23:14):
Thank you so much for speaking with us.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Thank you, ma'am.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
Well, here in Australia, we are just months away from
banning millions of young Australians under the age of sixteen
from using social media, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram xl' be banned.
Joining us now is Rian are Matt Ventures director Rihon.

Speaker 5 (23:36):
It is great to see you again.

Speaker 15 (23:37):
Now.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
I'm sure you know my thoughts on this ban. You know,
I believe banning YouTube for fifteen year olds it just
goes way too far. But you've noticed the hypocrisy in
all of this that on one hand, you have the
government insisting that teenagers are too young to access social media,
yet there are politicians such as Monique Ryan pushing for
sixteen year olds to have the right to vote.

Speaker 5 (23:59):
I mean, how does that makes sense?

Speaker 14 (24:03):
Well, it doesn't. And as you've picked up and many
people have picked up, the argument is very simply that
teenagers are mature enough to make decisions on matters like
national security, but they're not mature enough to navigate a
site like YouTube. But site that I often add, I personally,
as a younger kid, used to learn about the world,

(24:25):
to understand complex topics.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
It's actually really an.

Speaker 14 (24:29):
Important educational resource an increasingly digital world. Cutting the access
to our kids is going to put them way behind
the rest of the world in digital literacy and in
understanding everything about the world.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
I completely agree with you, do you also have concerns
about the digital information required that has to be handed
over as part of this social media ban.

Speaker 14 (24:54):
Yeah, well, we all know as Australians that data hacks
are not some radical theory. They're the re reality. They
happen often, they happen to Australians often, and they happen
to our biggest companies. And so you can imagine if
we have to figure out a way, as I should say,
the tech companies have to figure out a way to
make sure every kid is under the age of sixteen.

(25:16):
The only way they're going to be able to do
that is through some form of a digital identification system,
which means that both adults and kids will have to
verify their age in order to provide a full ID
check for everyone. And in doing so, you run the
risk of putting that data somewhere that people can access
it if they're hostile and if they're willing to make
that attempt.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
I also have concerns over what this means for free
speech if you have young Australians not able to access
platforms such as x Anyway, Australia's birth rate has declined
to its lowest ever recorded, to just.

Speaker 5 (25:51):
One point five.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Now we know that Elon Musk has been warning about
the declining birth rate for some time.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
Now.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
The US is one point sixty two, South Thorea is
less one, and in Japan there were nearly a million
more deaths than.

Speaker 5 (26:04):
Birth's last year. Now, Rion, it's a huge problem.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
There are many factors contributing to this, but here in
Australia it really seems as though the great Australian dream
of buying a house having lots of children it feels
impossible for so many young Australians due to the cost,
the cost of housing, cost of living let alone, rather
the cost of having multiple children is out of control.

Speaker 5 (26:27):
What's your assessment?

Speaker 14 (26:30):
Yeah, I think you're completely correct. And I actually first
stumbled upon this issue exactly how you mentioned it, because
I was reading a lot of what Elon must have
been saying, and at the time, I will admit I
suspected that his concerns were more so about the fact that,
of course he wants his personal mission seems to be
creating an army of many musts and popular in the

(26:51):
earth kids as possible as we both know, and so
I suspected maybe that was his God but reading into
it This is not a problem that he has created
or brought up for the first time. It's a problem
that's been in the news for a while and just
seems to be getting worse, with the core example, of
course being Japan. You know there's terrible numbers coming out

(27:14):
of Japan. Last year alone, we had one million more
deaths than births, and this is something that is not
being fixed despite a lot of attempts to fix it.
Now we're looking at Australia, and you're right. I think
the core issue is in two parts. There's an obvious
part and I think there's a subtle, more cultural part.
The obvious part is if you go to any parent,

(27:35):
or I should say any want to be parent, and
you ask them about their chances of owning a home,
having somewhere safe to care for their kid or child,
or even being able to financially provide for a child.
These are very expensive things, they'll more often than not
chuckle and say, how is it possible? We can't even
afford a place to live. So I think that's number one.

(27:56):
I also think I don't think this will be a
controversial p There's been a change, a shift in culture.
I think that culture shift is coming back in the
right direction. But there's been a shift in culture regarding
children and then what it means to have a family.
It's a really core part of a really successful society
that people want to have kids, they want to bring

(28:18):
them up, they want to raise them to live with
the values that they have been raised with themselves. And
we're seeing some shifts in our advertising, in our movie
and our culture that are bringing it back towards But
I think that's the second part we really need to
look at.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Look, I agree with you. I hope there is that
cultural shift back because we want be able to have
more children. I think was Donald Trump saying that who
wants to encourage be able to have more babies? But look,
I want to talk to you about AI. You're a
bit of an AI expert and chat GPT. We know
that young people are increasingly relying on AI chatbots and

(28:52):
it's interesting. Real Time host Film slammed AI for essentially
praising humans during every interaction where it's really not necessary.

Speaker 5 (29:00):
Take a look at this.

Speaker 17 (29:02):
People don't read anymore. They let the chatbot do all
their reading for them, and they ask it what's up
and trust it's telling the truth. Which sometimes it is
and sometimes it isn't.

Speaker 9 (29:12):
But what it.

Speaker 17 (29:13):
Always is is a ass kisser. You literally cannot ask
it a question so stupid it won't tell you. Great question,
Can I drink milk if it's lumpy? Great question?

Speaker 15 (29:32):
Do baby carrots.

Speaker 17 (29:33):
Miss their mommies? You bring up an excellent point, Ryon.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
I think he's foot on here, you know, I think
he really made a good point about AI.

Speaker 5 (29:42):
We are all using it, of course.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
More and more, particularly younger generations. Are you noticing this
among young people who potentially enjoy chatting with their chatbot
over interacting with other people.

Speaker 14 (29:56):
Well, I don't want to overexaggerate this, but I think
there is no way to. I think this is one
of the existential threats that are going to take our
younger generation down a few pegs quite frankly an intelligence.
And the reason I say that is another example to
add to what has been said. There was a case
where a husband asked chet shebt I cheated on my wife,

(30:22):
but it was because she hadn't cooked me dinner that
night and I felt like she wasn't doing enough for me.
And the agent said, look, you did something wrong, but
I can understand why you did it. You had real
reasons to feel insecure about your place in the relationship,
and you acted out. It's insanity. And so what's happening
at the moment is these AI chatbots are being built.

(30:45):
As a business person who build an ad chatbot, let's
maximize the likability of these agents so that more people
use them for longer. It's the classic game of tech companies.
We need more attention, we need more eyeballs, and the
way to do that is, let's build a product that
is going to make you really like it by agreeing
with everything you say. That's what we're seeing now. It's

(31:10):
a disaster. And the reason I say it's a disaster
is because if you have a generation of sink efans
of AI, sink efans teaching all of us that we
are all our own little super geniuses, that we're all
somehow special and we're going to be able to change
the world, but also that we are loved and everything

(31:30):
we do is right, We're going to get these super
ego versions of ourselves that cannot stand up to criticism in.

Speaker 8 (31:37):
The real world.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
That is a very scary thought. I'm very nervous about
what the future looks like if that if that is
the case. Finally, I want to ask you about former
Prime Minister Tony Abbott because he's once again been offering
his service to the country. The former member for Ringa
has been spotted directing commuters out of a car park
in Sydney's CBT Now. This video posts Instagram shows him

(32:01):
holding up a boom gate while ushering cars out of
the car park.

Speaker 5 (32:05):
Let's take a look at this, Rion. What's your reaction
to this.

Speaker 14 (32:19):
Well, politicians and prime ministers in particularly often have unique
post career stories. Some go into you know, consulting, some
go into helping out, you know, in other parts they
go into the community. This is certainly the weirdest I
would say post career shift that I've seen for a
prime minister or ex prime minister. I should say, but

(32:41):
in fairness, you know, after the high energy of cats,
I can only imagine that you need someone like a
prime minister or ex prime minister to come in and
restore a chaos and a car parking lot. What I
will say is, this is one of the great things
about our country. This would not happen in America, this
would not happen in many other countries. Is where you
have a former leader that is so down to earth

(33:03):
and so grounded and just built into the community, without
you know, the security guards around, without the layers of
hierarchy and bureaucracy between them. It's just people, former leaders
with the humility to say I'm going to help my community.
We need more of this. It's a beautiful thing about Australia.
We need it on all sides of politics. And I'm
sure this will hopefully inspire some more people and some

(33:27):
more leaders to continue to do this sort of thing
for their community.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
Oh I hope so too, well said ran Al. Great
to speak with you again. Thank you so much for
joining us on Power Hour.

Speaker 14 (33:37):
A pleasure as always, Gabby.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
Megan Michael has shared the trailer for the second season
of her Netflix series With Love Megan, after the Sussex
is officially confirmed to deal with the streaming giant. Riley
Sullivan is lifestyle reporter here at sky News dot com
dot Au and he's always across the latest celebrity headlines.

Speaker 5 (34:00):
Really, it is great to say you great to be back.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
Okay, So Meghan Markle has shared a bit of this
trailer with Netflix for the second season and with Love
Megan let's take a look.

Speaker 5 (34:10):
I love the idea of spending time together and and
finding new ways to show with people you care. Look
at that. Oh my gosh, I could do this every day.
Let's get creative and you learn something new, nice and done.
I don't know what's happening.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Okay, so more cooking, a few more decorations.

Speaker 5 (34:30):
What's the reaction to this trailer been so far?

Speaker 12 (34:32):
Yeah, Well, this is sort of the first look at
the second run of episodes of With Love Meghan. I
think there's a really important distinction to make here. Just
off the bat, they're saying it's a second season, second season,
new look Megan, new look show, But realistically this was
filmed when she filmed the other episodes.

Speaker 8 (34:49):
Netflix.

Speaker 12 (34:49):
Kind of my understanding is they split they did a
batch of episodes, they split it into two. We got
the first run of episodes earlier this year, and then
now here we are with the second run. But realistically,
you know, there won't be any kind of major tonal shift.

Speaker 8 (35:03):
I think that people are really reading into the trailer.

Speaker 12 (35:05):
Maybe the editing is a little bit more humble, a
little bit more off the cuff, or attending to be
off the cuff, But I believe it's going to be
more of the same. Having a look at the guest list,
we've got Jay Shetty, Chrissy Teagan, sort of the celebrity set.
I think it's going to be more of the same,
but interesting to see if this is the start of
a new chapter.

Speaker 8 (35:25):
I mean, I don't know. It looks pretty messy.

Speaker 5 (35:27):
It does look pretty messy.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
Look, I don't know how well the first one went,
how well that was really received. I think she was
pretty mocked for some of the tips and tricks that
she shed, and also that the name that she gave herself,
I think a new royal title. But we'll see how
this is received. And that's a first look at the trailer.

Speaker 5 (35:46):
Thank you Riley.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Now Buckingham Palace has unabout a full itinery of royal
engagements to mark the eightieth anniversary of the end of
World War Two.

Speaker 5 (35:55):
How will the Royal family be marking this?

Speaker 8 (35:57):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 12 (35:58):
So Friday will be the official celebrations for VJ or
Victory in Japan Day in the UK. This is a
really important milestone, of course for the country, for the Commonwealth,
I think for the globe.

Speaker 8 (36:09):
The end of obviously the.

Speaker 12 (36:11):
Devastation of World War Two, and it's something that's very
close to King Charles's heart. He will be making an
audio speech that will be released in the UK and
throughout the Commonwealth tomorrow. The speech will be, I am assuming,
kind of a mix of tribute to the soldiers and
the people that fought in World War Two, but I
also think that, knowing his previous speeches, I think he'll

(36:34):
probably touch on sadly the fact that where we are
in the world today, that there is war in Europe again,
there is conflict in the Middle East, and I think
that it's going to be quite a somber speech, frankly,
but certainly in the King's sort of distinctive style. There
will also be a lot of other commemorations across the UK.
Will have the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. In Scotland,

(36:55):
the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will also be meeting
with veterans and survive veterans. How amazing that eighty years
later that there's still people here today to tell the tale.
And I think it's going to be a little bit
of a shift in terms of tone from the early
celebrations we saw for ve Day, which was kind of
more of a formal celebration with the balcony appearance.

Speaker 8 (37:18):
It will be nothing like.

Speaker 12 (37:19):
That instead of having all the royals on the balcony,
that'll be very much dispersed across the UK. So yeah,
very very memorable and very kind of important moment I
think the King tells on Friday.

Speaker 5 (37:30):
Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
Now, Sarah Ferguson has been photographed with the controversial Hollywood
actor Kevin Spacey at a recent gala in Italy. Now, rather,
could the timing of this photo be any worse for
the Duchess of York.

Speaker 8 (37:43):
I don't think so.

Speaker 12 (37:44):
I think that this is just, you know, on the
heels of this Andrew Lowne book. One of the major themes,
ironically of the Andrew Lowney book was kind of looking
at how Fergie is a notorious poor judge of character.

Speaker 8 (37:57):
She has such a way.

Speaker 12 (37:59):
About of just constantly putting herself in situations where she's
compromising herself, her position, and also the monarchy. This is
the last thing Bucky in Palace wants to see. I
don't think they want to be bringing any more attention
than they need to to the Louney book because there's
a lot of stuff in there that's quite frankly damning,
and I think that this is terrible timing on many fronts.

Speaker 8 (38:19):
I think Fergie should be laying low.

Speaker 12 (38:21):
The fact that she's out at glitzy gala's is one thing.
But I think this really kind of speaks to the
core issue with Andrew and Fergie, which I think is
an overarching theme of their lives, is that they are
mercenary and they are looking to live a lifestyle, and
I think that they put themselves in these positions where
they're vulnerable, and this is an example of that. With

(38:43):
respect to Kevin Spacey, of course, he was accused of
sexual misconduct by over a dozen men. None of that
has eventuated in any convictions. He is a free man and.

Speaker 8 (38:52):
Obviously entitled to live his life.

Speaker 12 (38:54):
He's at this gala dinner in Italy, but I think,
from an optics point of view, a terrible decision by
to post for a photo with him. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (39:01):
I couldn't agree with you more.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
Speaking of the Yorks, two people who have also been
impacted by this new book are, of course Andrew and
Fergie's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. What are friends
of the princesses said about the Lownie book.

Speaker 12 (39:17):
So a source that's quite close to Beaches and Eugenie
has spoken out to The Daily Beast basically saying that
within their social circles there's a lot of sympathy for
Beaches and Eugenie. I think that people look at them
and think, well, at the end of the day, they
are trying to just live their lives with dignity. They've
always stood by their parents, but they've also really never
put much of a foot wrong in the public life.

(39:38):
I mean, they live very kind of discreete lives, and
I think that there's a lot of sympathy and the
fact is that they are collateral damage. They are forever
associated with their parents because of the actions, especially Prince
Andrew and to a lesser extent, Fergie. And I think
that because of that that probably has impacted maybe some
of their plans. You know, we often talk on this
show about could William, you know, perhaps of eight Beatrice

(40:00):
and Eugenie as working roles in future. I think that
things like this book and the constant reminder of the
scandals of Prince Andrew, I think that probably will be
a factor in whether they are ever able to take
on a front facing role in the royal family. But
as it stands, I think there's a lot of support
for them within their circle, and I don't think there's
a lot of kind of blame being placed on them.

(40:22):
But how the public sees it is another story.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
Now freedom of information requests have revealed that many British
institutions have declined to accept free.

Speaker 5 (40:32):
Portraits of King Charles. What do you make of this?
Is this a potential sign of the king's current popularity?

Speaker 8 (40:38):
Well, that seemed to be the conclusion.

Speaker 12 (40:40):
So these freedom of information requests were made by the
Guardian newspaper. I will just say that the Guardian is
a relatively pro republic, anti monarchy newspaper in general, a
little bit more left leaning, and that was sort of
their conclusion.

Speaker 8 (40:53):
They revealed in these.

Speaker 12 (40:55):
Sort of requests that the portraits that will put out
after the coronation, which can be hung in public places,
you know, in hospitals, organizations, the Navy, all of those
types of things. Institutions in the UK that do display
these kinds of things they have an option of taking
a free portrait. I think they're about one hundred and
thirty pounds each, so not in a cheap exercise when

(41:16):
you think about the thousands of portraits that are being produced,
but reportably some of these organizations are less than twenty
percent of them were putting their hand up for the
portrait of Charles, So you know, I don't think it's
as simple as well. This is a sign that maybe
the monarchy is waning or interesting the king is waning.
I think that there is a lot of good will
in the UK for the King. The Guardian is probably

(41:38):
in their editorially interest looking to make that conclusion, but
it's certainly a sign I think that, you know, how
people are interacting with.

Speaker 8 (41:45):
The monarchy's changing.

Speaker 12 (41:46):
I think that maybe fifty or one hundred years ago
it was a portrait on a wall, but nowadays when
we think about it, you know, the royal family has
social media, they're approachable and accessible in different ways, and
I think this is more a sign of that than
and the decline of the monarchy.

Speaker 5 (42:01):
Yeah, very interesting. Riley Sullivan, thank you so much.

Speaker 8 (42:04):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (42:08):
And that is power.

Speaker 8 (42:09):
Aura.
