Trigger Warning: Suicide
Addiction’s never just about the substance - it runs deeper. For Ian, it started long before the drugs, and lead to two years spent in prison.
But now, he's been in recovery for 25 years, actively working to tackle his addiciton - and it's not been without its bumps in the road. And he's here to share his story and journey with the world, even if it helps just one person.
In this episode, we discuss with Ian:
🔹 How childhood trauma can lead to addiction
🔹 Why quitting isn’t just a flick of a switch
🔹 The lack of mental health support - especially for men
🔹 The dark reality of suicidal struggles and helping others through it
🔹 And why "it’s nice to be nice" really does matter
Most importantly? Ian’s story is proof that the real work is an inside job - and that paying it forward can change lives. (Including his dream idea to set up a recovery house in Greece)

Intentionally Disturbing
Join me on this podcast as I navigate the murky waters of human behavior, current events, and personal anecdotes through in-depth interviews with incredible people—all served with a generous helping of sarcasm and satire. After years as a forensic and clinical psychologist, I offer a unique interview style and a low tolerance for bullshit, quickly steering conversations toward depth and darkness. I honor the seriousness while also appreciating wit. I’m your guide through the twisted labyrinth of the human psyche, armed with dark humor and biting wit.
