(00:44):
Elina Sanders keeps it real in here. That's the post,
That's the truth only on pulsing politics.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Welcome to post and the politics. Well, we break down
the matt so you don't have to break your remote
or your budget trying to understand what the heck is
going on in America. I'm your host, Elena Sanders, and
we got something for you today. Now while you were
(01:17):
out trying to figure out if you can afford eggs
and air conditioning at the same time, you know, we
have that type of those type of responsibilities. Congress was
hard at work. They were hard at work, not fixing
health care, not protecting voter rights, and definitely not doing
anything about these disrespectful utility bills. Reminder, Georgia Public Service
(01:43):
Commission election is in June. Okay, Nope, they were busy
renaming the Golf of Mexico to the Golf of America. Yes,
that is where we are now in America, renaming bodies
of water. That's where the bar is beneath the water.
They just rename. But wait, you may say, is this real?
(02:05):
Let me be clear. Let's be clear. This is not satired.
This is actually happening. This is not from the onion.
This is real American legislation, folks, class is now in session.
Ring the bell now. On January ninth, twenty twenty five,
(02:32):
your Georgia State Representatives, Marjorie Taylor Green, yes her again,
introduce HR to seventy six, the Gulf of America Act.
She said it was time to reclaim pride and patriotism
by renaming the Gulf of Mexico because clearly Mexico in
(02:53):
the name is just too spicy. I'm assuming, or we
all are assuming. We don't know what to assume to
spicy for America. Meanwhile, Americans are out here praying over
grocery store receipts and trying to keep our four oh
one case from turning into two on one case. But yes,
(03:14):
tell me how this body of water was the top
priority for Congress. This bill breakdown. So what does this
bill actually do? Simply, it tells every federal agency to
stop calling it Golf of Mexico. Okay, and now they're
(03:35):
gonna start calling it Golf of America, and all documents
map sign it, you name it, and they got six months.
They have six months to scrub the name from everywhere,
like you're scrubbing your ex from your social media platforms Now,
let's talk about who co signed this alphabet soup of asertinity.
(03:55):
It passed the House on May eighth, barely with a
vote of two hundred eleven to two six. Now only
one Republican thank you, sir, thank you, sir. Don Bacon
from Nebraska had the courage to say, are you all
serious right now? Now? The rest I don't have anything
to say. Well, I'm assuming they chose vibes over values.
(04:18):
So let's talk about priorities. Let's talk about that. Let's
Let's be real. There is no one that is paying
sixteen hundred dollars in rent that has said, you know
what would make my life better that would help me
pay this sixteen hundred dollars monthly rent. Renaming the golf.
(04:40):
Nobody at the pharmacy deciding between insulin and groceries are saying,
if only we could rename that body of water. Nobody
at the gas pump is praying that that is stopping
at forty dollars is saying, thank god, Congress handled that
golf situation. This is what we call performative patriotism, big
(05:05):
red whine and blue energy, no actual solutions. Meanwhile, inflation
is moon walking through our wallets. Healthcare is like a
luxury subscription service. Social Security they say it's secure until
you actually need it, and your retirement account is given
(05:28):
a Roman noodle. Roman noodles at the age of sixty five.
That's what we're gonna be eating at sixty five. Okay,
So let's talk about the international business. How they had
to come in to give their sense on this matter.
They're given side eye to America. We are the laughing
stock of the world. I hope you all know that
(05:50):
now over in Mexico. The President of Mexico was like,
try it. If you can, try it. If you won't to,
we got something for you. America's the co is suing
Google for updating the name on the US maps. They said,
you don't get to rename a share body of water
just because you all felt insecure on that day. And honestly,
(06:14):
I get it. I get it. You can't just wake
up one day and say that's mine. I own it.
This isn't colonialism, bingo. This is a share golf with
multiple countries. But hey, since when did facts stop this Congress?
When did facts stop this Congress? Now we're gonna have
(06:39):
to break down, you know I always do this. I
break down the pros and the cons. So the pros
of the Gulf of America Act. T shirt sells. Yes,
all of those who are out there selling T shirts
are gonna make a killing on the new Gulf of
America because somebody, no, not somebody, thousands of people who
(07:02):
follow this mess it's gonna buy those T shirts. So
shout out to those who are about to sew into
the academy. Hopefully those T shirts were made in America.
About to have T shirt sells Okay, they're gonna be
skyrocket high. Maybe a singer, a country singer will create
a country song. Beyonce's on tour right now. Are some
(07:22):
artists is gonna create a song to make some money? Okay,
that may boost our academy with some sales, you know,
paying taxes on that. But that's all, Faulks. Those are
the only pros to this act. Now the cons to this.
It costs money to change all the signage, the maps,
agency documents, military files, and educational materials. Do we think
(07:44):
about the school systems? The public school system have to
change all their textbooks. Did we think that the taxpayers
are paying for all of this? No, they didn't think.
It changes absolutely nothing about your life, your bills, your taxes,
your rights, or your reality. It's causing diplomatic confusion and
(08:04):
potential legal disputes that the taxpayers are going to foot
the bill.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
This is like.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Repainting the house while it's still on fire. Why does
this even matter? You might think this is just domb
and harmless. Yes, but it's actually a red flag, a
red flag towards our government. It shows what some leaders value.
This is why it's important to have a scorecard on
your delegates, those who are representing you in your area,
(08:34):
actually all of the legislators. There should be a scorecard
so you can see how they're actually voting, because a
lot of us are not paying attention, so there should
be some type of score card. Now, while people need help,
they're playing name games. This is why voting matters you all,
(08:55):
because while you're at work trying to make ends meet,
they're up there introducing law to rename bodies of water.
Let me say it again for the folks in the back.
We don't need renamed water. We need rent relief. We
(09:15):
need better health care. We need decrease in the amount
of medicine for those who are in need. We need
solutions that gonna help people get off the medicine. How
about that? How about making food that is healthy for
you less in costs so you can get people off
(09:36):
these medicines. Because the fact remain, they're gonna buy what
is affordable to them, and nine times out of ten
it's not the healthy the healthiest, I would say, solution.
So what is our call to action? What can we do?
Know your reps. It's time to get out and hold
(09:57):
your representatives accountable. Who they are. Know who you're voting for. First,
when you're going to polls voting for these people, know
what their values are. Ask the questions are they focused
on the real issues? Are renaming in nature like it's
a TikTok handle just changing up names? Okay, make noise.
Tell them to fix what matters wages, healthcare, housing, retirement protections,
(10:21):
and voting access. Then make sure you're registered, vote and
repeat all the above, because apparently some folks think they're
elected to run a reality show instead of a government.
The real wave here, here's a real wave we should
be riding, the one that brings real change, not a
(10:43):
rebranded body of salt water. This has been an eye
opener for us, for those in America, for those across
the world actually because they are trying to defend us
in other countries as well. But we have to take
responsibility for when we go in that ballot box. We
(11:05):
have to take responsibility. This is not a Republican, Democrat
or independent issue. This is a people issue. This is nonpartisan.
Everybody wants healthcare. Everybody wants security within their homes. Everybody
wants affordable housing to be able to afford. Everybody wants
to crease in taxes. Don't want their property taxes increasing
the values and assessments of their home. They're for one
(11:27):
K social security when they're retired that they can be
they don't have to work after when they're seventy or eighty.
Everybody wants that same type of stability. So this is
not a Republican Democrat independent issue. This is a people issue,
and we all need to be handling people's the people business.
(11:51):
This is Delana Sanders with pulsing politics. I don't keep
watching the ks, so you can keep watching your pockets
and just maybe, just maybe we can get some moll
makers who care about our families. Then the funds on
federal maps until next time. Stay loud, to stay woke,
and if you must rename something, rename this mess as
(12:14):
what it is, a national distraction, a national distraction.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
I'm out only on apologies.
