Let’s Start With “Why” I Felt Lost!

In this deeply personal episode of Rooted in Raw, I open up about a side of the raw vegan journey that got ugly for me — grief. Not the grief that comes from losing a person — though that plays a role here — but the grief that shows up when you lose parts of yourself, your comfort, your traditions, and your identity to become someone new.

Yes, I was losing it…

After completing a 90-day juice cleanse, I made the decision to transition into a raw vegan lifestyle. But unlike my earlier shift to veganism in 2016, this time wasn’t easy. It wasn’t just a dietary change — it was an emotional rollercoaster! The passing of a loved one, the pressure to stay publicly committed, and the silent moments of temptation all collided in a way I didn’t see coming.

This Episode Digs Deeper Into My Beginning:

* What it really felt like to break a promise to myself

* The guilt that came from slipping up on my journey

* How grief showed up through food, holidays, family events, and memories

* And why the raw lifestyle demanded more than just a change in diet — it demanded identity-level transformation

I share my emotional process, including the moments in parking lots staring down old comforts, the silent battles between commitment and craving, and the quiet strength it took to rebuild trust in myself. When I tell you it all sucked! It did! Nothing was pleasant about those dark moments.

If you've ever felt like giving up because the path to healing got heavy, this episode is your reminder: You Can Do It! What did Nike Say - “Just Do it!” Grief is part of growth. Doubt is part of discipline. And even in the dark — you’re still becoming.

Start With Your Purpose — Every Time!

Before you commit; before you change your diet; before you sign up, show up, or start over...Get clear on why you’re doing it.

Because when life hits hard — and it will — motivation won't be enough. The hype fades. The “new” wears off. And that’s when your purpose becomes your anchor.

Starting with your why keeps you grounded when the journey gets uncomfortable. When the cravings hit. When you’re misunderstood. When progress feels invisible.

Without a clear purpose, it's easy to quit. But when you know your “why”?You remind yourself that this isn't about being perfect — it’s about being aligned.

Your purpose reminds you:

* That you want to heal, not just look healthy.

* That you want peace, not just results.

* That you want freedom, not just control.

It doesn’t have to be deep to anyone else — it just has to be real to you. So write it down. Speak it out loud. Keep it where you can feel it!
