E35: Dinner at the Tern and Tortoise

The Runts spend more time collecting themselves in Waterdeep before remembering LAST minute that they have a date with a devil!

All right, you guys. Welcome back to Ron.
Petco's plane walking episode 35.
Let's get into it. Last time.

(00:55):
Where we began was right after in the middle of the night.
Dulum had found had heard the noise of something dropping to
the floor and picked up a small smooth stone that immediately
plunged it into magical sleep. We began among Dooms dreams
where it had a peaceful dream about mechanicus.
But strangely, the other robots it encountered in mechanicus

(01:20):
nude, this was a dream and new it was Dooms dream specifically.
So sort of just like it talking to itself.
Um, then as dulum awoke it foundthat someone had rifled through
all of our stuff in the night. We concluded pretty quickly that
it had been the ladies next doorto a crack in the wall between
our rooms, which theoretically awizard could have Misty stepped

(01:41):
through all. So, because Oro and Malice had
previously seen one of them slipping a small Stone and her
pocket So, we searched the ladies bedrooms being let in by
the hotel manager, who we obviously immediately contacted
to alert all the hotel guards and make sure they hadn't been
seen entering or exiting Hotel. Unfortunately, no one had to
lead on them. In ladies bedroom Oro found a

single silvery black thread and smelled lavender.
But unfortunately we didn't findanything concrete except for
basically proof that they are Wizards or spellcasters and that
likely what they did was create this crack in the room slip, The
Rock through it to put Doom to sleep lavender.
Of course being a spell component used in sleep and then

(02:25):
Misty step into the room to lookfor our stuff.
The only thing that we found missing from our things was
unfortunately the evil book of reversed spells that Davos had
been carrying on able to track them down completely right now.
We instead had our rooms moved up the floor.
Um, Oro also went to alert Eddieand All of her, the two boys who

(02:49):
are staying in the hotel. Someone under his watch that
they were all moving rooms. They were on over, which made
oral really pissed off, but Jayahelped him talk to them and get
them to move then, smear lectured Oro on metal in the
lives of people without being like completely responsible for
them. Yeah, you know, to mixed

(03:09):
understanding. Um, meanwhile Monty mentioned
that he had been having dreams about being thirsty in a desert
come morning. And we went to talk to Topher.
I say, Topher. I mean X.
It was averix. I don't know, I don't know if
seemed like, definitely is Mavericks to me.
You smiled me sounded like average.
I when you re-listen to that episode 34, you're gonna be

like, oh shit, that was Everest.Um, Topher told us that we had
to tell Vinny's parents. What happened as sort of our
recompense for taking a body that we could have identified.
Um, we also promised to put in agood word for topher's promotion
to Rexy mere. Next time, we talked to them and
he Topher informed us that we shouldn't pursue the women in

the suits who robbed us because they almost certainly work for
masked. Floors.
Probably Davos is most Lord if you asked me.
Um meanwhile Giants board with Abel and Molly and it went so
bad so so so so bad. Able got stabbed in the chest
mali's. Nose was broken.
No one was running to heal them.So China, just sort of Foot Abel

in bed while he started bleedingout.
Oh, Meanwhile Deimos do a littlehigher and aura or debating as
they walked towards Vinny's parents home as to what to tell
them. They most entire wanted to lie
to them that the, oh, so Davos purchased an urn and filled it
with bread, Ash, which he boughtfor two gold.

And intended to lie to them and see that this was Vinny's body.
A higher was on board with famous.
His plan, did them, however, felt strongly about telling the
truth and Oro. Basically, just had decision
paralysis, though. He was leading towards telling
the truth, as well, because that's more in line with his
morals. The team couldn't agree.
Oh, and Aura. Not knowing who to trust, or

what to do bail out of decision,paralysis all.
So because, or at the time, it seemed like the team was leading
towards doing the lie. And Oro, didn't think he could
be present while watching them lied of any poor parents, but as
the three remaining dulum demos higher arrived at Finney's

parents house, Dylan put its foot down and said it would
permanently feel different abouthigher and they most if they
went through this plan, this ledhigher to acquiesce to doom and
they told the parents, the truththat, you know, they took
Vinny's, dad took it pretty hard.
His mom took Get somewhat, suspiciously not hard and in

fact seemed to know details about Vinny's death.
That no one had told her a little sassy.
Meanwhile Oro. Wandering the market found Samir
talked a little bit about the discussion.
He just had with the other partymembers Samir told me.
I cry too much. It's my fault.

Then we bought some materials tomake gios a spider, climb
slippers as well as some snacks for Edward and Oliver and I got
home. I healed, Malgus and Abel.
We ran into the others on our way to shop, some more to get
the materials for higher, and they most items and do them
decided to accompany Samir and Iinto the market to them.

And I made some money on the side, by fixing up items at the
thrift shop, where we met clerk,the vulture Erica, who runs the
attic, which is a thrift shop ofstuff.
Clerk has saved from the dungeons, we made some money and
also as a tip got a belt of one extra Pocket.
A Deimos went to visit Samson. The probably mask Lord that he

spent the night with a few, maybe a week ago, I don't know.
Time is so hard. It was an amount of time ago,
meanwhile and Abel went to meet the GIF, who Abel knew at his
bar. The big bucket Abel.
Waited outside, while Jaya went inside and met Captain throm
casket, the captain of the ship,the Lily hook a captain from

Cascade is blind and admitted that he had not come to material
played willingly but in fact been decommissioned, when his
position among the gift of auroria as a colonel was
automated and he was replaced bymechanical being.
He says that the gift Army and specifically, his branch is
being taken out by machines. And that when he had been

recently able to get in contact with the glorya an opportunity,
he traded his eyesight for He learned that three bears, had
recently gone black out overnight and he thinks it was
the machines, though. He can't be sure if they were
missed functioning or rebelling or what and we left off there
with sort of all of us scatteredto the way.

And you know what, amazing, he realized his last time we have a
dinner date to make. Oh my God, you've had a
beautiful dinner date. So welcome back to D&D

You see that was an excellent intro as usual.

So, we return now to the city ofwaterdeep, it's mid-afternoon,
just bordering on the evening. Now, as you guys have begun yet
another day of sort of rest and relaxation as well, recouping
some of your well, some some items actually that you guys
have put in as an order through Orpheus.
And also some of your sanity forthe last couple of days of

pretty intense activity. Where we left off, Jaya.
You had just finished a conversation with a fellow GIF
inside an ale house. Colonel falm cast and older.
Gentleman. Same as your self who seems to
have gotten used to life on the material plane.
Giving up any sense of heading back to the planet to grow up

but gave you a bit of info. But where you could go next to
learn more additionally, anothermember of our Crew That's sort
of in the middle of an action. Right now is demos The most you
made your way over to the young Bachelor, Sampson a wealthy
gentleman, who seems to have a lot of free time on his hands.

(09:24):
Who invited you back to his his Abode whenever you so chose you
chose today and returning back the guards were hesitant to let
you in but I'm mentioning the name of one of the servants
inside and showing interest in them, the guards, hesitantly,
let you inside. We'll begin with you today.
The most, as you make your way across the long winding path

(09:47):
leading towards Samson's. Great palace, a sort of manner
built a top, one of the Great Hills in the castle.
Ward of waterdeep, you walk along, and no one in particular
is guiding you, but you can tellthat you're being watched.
That only by the guards at the entrance who sort of seem to be
poking their heads over their shoulders to keep an eye on you.

(10:09):
But also you notice a great minilooks like private guards
watching you from the palace. In front of you.
There are stand a few sort of idling by the entrance way of
the great manner as well. If you on the rooftops above you
see crossbows slung over their shoulders, sort of watching you
with some interest. As you approach, another one of

these private guards dressed in sort of a deep black at the
front gate. Stops you and you see the great
beautiful doorway, that leads inside the manner is sort of a
jar and you smell a sweet smell coming from inside, some sort of
pastry or perhaps sweet meat wafting out from the inside of
the building. Over the Garden front, sort of

(10:54):
holds a hand out and talks to you and a quiet voice.
I hear that. I got wood that you looking for
the Servants of the house. She's outright yes.
Spell video. Right.
Yeah, well Beverly is inside butit's a bit busy.
If you don't. Mind me asking what's your

It's just, you know, normally those who come here for Samson,
this sort of give up once they learning.
He's not here. So curious.
What's your coming back for? Did you leave something?
Oh I got. You know, I mean and Belvidere
had you know a little bit of a child last time I was here and
you know I felt like we sort of bonded a bit and I felt like

door. You see the great beautiful
black oak door. Push open.
And this Garden leads you insidethe manor?

It's just as you remember, it, dark black satin and velvet
across the walls and sealing accents, and what looked like,
dark sort of icy blue, and leathery Browns, all over the
place. There is a smell of sweets
around you, and it sounds like there's a conversation
happening. You hear almost what sounds like
a group laughing. You hear clinking of glasses,

and a sort of very rich and velvety.
Deep laughter come from a room far away.
But the guard leads you in a different direction, sort of
turning a hard right to immediately and guiding you
down. A long passageway away from the
conversation. Look at toe.
Just the the Master of the House, didn't Right now, but

(12:44):
I'll be happy to take you to Belvidere.
The butler is really been a quite well jittery lately.
Yeah. Mashed it on Wix been gone for a
while now and well, you know howit is Butler without a master.
It's a hard hard job. So, uh, you know, I'm sure you
accompany will be nice. Yeah.
Um, could I from like from like the, the cheers and the

laughter? Do I get, like, any hint of
Samson's voice from the party? Give me a perception check,
please. Perception.
Um 15. Um, you listen and it does
sound, like there are a number of people in there with a 15,
you determine just from the sortof raucous laughter that you

(13:29):
heard when you walked in and then some clinking of glasses
and a few side conversations. Something like there might be 10
to 15 people in that room. However, paying attention, you
don't hear Samson's voice among any of them, they all sound a
bit older, a bit more sort of generationally wealthy.
That's sort of, like, people whohave lived here a long time and
have a very sort of passive commutable are to them, just at

(13:53):
least from the conversations, you can hear those people.
Don't quite sound like the same individuals that Samson told you
he often interacted with yet. Nevertheless, they're here in
the manner. You do notice though the guard
keeps a close eye on you is he leads you away from that
direction. In fact, with the 15% shake you
know notice a few more would look like personal servants and
bodyguards lining, the hallways of this building more than you

(14:16):
expected. In fact, when you were here
before, as Simpsons guest, you were sort of free to roam the
building at your own Leisure. If you recall, that's actually
how you found Belvedere in the first place.
But now you notice, your path issort of forced for you.
There are two bodyguards that watch a doorway as you pass down
a hallway. Sort of watching you go by, they

(14:37):
don't seem to be particularly aggressive, but nevertheless,
they seem to be guarding your Swiss Escape.
Additionally, you notice anotherbody guard almost cloaked and
what looks like a deep black robe blending them in, with the
background hiding almost with two dark eyes watching you as
you go by hitting among the curtains of one of the walls.

(14:58):
These people don't seem to be exactly aggressive.
Again, that none of them have weapons out that you can see,
but it just some sort of seems to be a reminder or perhaps even
a unusual sight at least compared to the last time you
were here, a reminder that you aren't exactly allowed to freely
wander by yourself. Nevertheless, though, this

(15:19):
guard, that's sort of the front leads.
You passively down another hallway and down a long servants
Corridor, until you finally end up in the kitchen and that
strong sweet smell strikes. You once again, as you see a
number of servants here cooks and would look like a few pastry
chefs. Mulling about preparing looks

(15:41):
like a large dessert platter spread of different macarons and
pastries of breaded. And buttered nature, you see,
light pink berries that have been glazed with some sort of
Sweet Sticky substance like a syrup and the pastry chefs and
these Cooks here don't really pay much mine.

(16:01):
But you know sort of propped in the corner of the room,
analyzing a particular dish is the butler.
Belvedere you remember his his frame and look and he looks over
at you and gives you a wave and you see his smile and the crease
lines on his face sort of fold as he does.
So the guard, That led you in wordlessly steps back and stands

(16:22):
by the door that you walked in? Would look to be one of the two
entrances in eggs to the room. There's another exit that you
notice a sort of double doors that looked to lead out in a
different direction and standingat that entrance is another
guard. This place is way more.
Will guarded the new remember Belford deer approaches you
though when he reaches out a hand to shake your own?

(16:42):
Oh goodness. The pleasure to have you back.
The most is that, right? Yes, yes, Belvedere.

Nothing interesting. Of course, he sort of looks away
and looks off to one of the guards in the corner and stares
at him for a moment, then he turns back to you.
It's nice to stay busy. Um yes I was informing you the

good Master Samsung has been after a few days now as some
sort of emergency meeting at theat the Capitol grounds as I'm
showing you informed you he doesa lot of work inside the capital
of what a deeper the great Castle.
He operates as a sort of dignitary, I suppose maybe a
basseterre three.

Um You you see a flash of emotion on velvetears face but
it's too quick and you can't recognize what emotion it is.
Hmm. He turns towards you now and he
gives you a very familiar smile and he goes, I'm sorry.
A good Mr. Demo. But unfortunately, I'm quite
indisposed here. I can't take you to a private

room at this current time, but I'm sure whatever you could tell

She looks around and gives you an another smile.
Oh, quite I mean it's you know, it's all quite embarrassing

out his urn know. Um doing this, you know, this a

few of the the cooks in the roomsort of stop what they're doing
to turn over and watch you. With some curiosity, both of the
guards in the room are also watching you pretty closely now.
Belvedere sort of looks at you and goes.
Well, what's this good sir. See I've I've I've lost someone
recently and you know, I'd felt that, you know, I'm kind of new

to what a deep and I don't have many friends and I was just
looking for someone, someone to talk to tonight, but I see if,
if everyone's too busy here and oh, it's that your friend there.

And you look, you see him look back and forth.

look at the guards in the corners to watch you as well in

going through is very painful but unfortunately we're any size
all booked up you see the the manner has a great number of

rooms but in the Master's absence of we've actually filled
them all up with gas. So I unfortunately can't allow
you to stay the evening to. Well enjoy your respite and
perhaps grieve in silence. But what I can't offer you is

He leans toward you and wraps his arms around you and does in
fact give you a sort of gentlemanly hug and pulling you
back, he gives you another priest smile.

some unrecognizable emotion disappear quickly, and he exits

the door that the guard is watching the guard crosses his
arms and looks at you and goes right.
Well, I mean, I guess that's it with the butler you might want
to be on Your way then right? You know do you guys perhaps
have a restroom? I could use such a like a long
walk from, from my Inn, you knowand And I just I so I really

And I'm gonna hand the Urn to him, you thrust, the urine into
his hands and he sort of looks down or didn't go, any sort of
puts it away. Like two feet away from him,

And this secondary guard, a larger fellow than the first

looks like, perhaps a half work by the looks of his face
underneath the large helmet. He has on opens the door behind
him and just for you to go through holding the urine in one
hand, nice. He leads you through and then he
follows close behind you. You see Belvidere about 20 Paces
up walking quickly and he even turns around and looks at you

and gives you a polite wave until he turns a corner the
guard though. Stops.
You've been earlier at one of the many doors, along the
hallway and goes. Well this is it right here.

Their Faucets in this bathroom. Yes, you find a nice sink.
It's sort of one of those clamshell-shaped ones that,
like, you have the nice running water.
Good just running water. What?
Oh, okay, demos will turn on thefaucets.
Just for the noise and then he'sgoing to test out, press the

digitation just like something like fire players or something,
you know, just to see if he can if it's if he can perform magic
in this in this manner basically.
All right? Um, you get the sink to go in.

around as I understand it. Doom and orfeas were out
