Speaker 1 (00:00):
Saturdays.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Is time to one one, the week's been hot? Time,
Today's mom mine?
Speaker 1 (00:08):
Sign on my radio?
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Just in time?
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Sif funny, howes gott me feel fun?
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yay Saturday?
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Okay if I am six forty live everywhere on the
iHeartRadio app. It's Saturdays with Tiffany and we're back after
a what two week hiatus?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
I think you you still.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Heard me here because I filled in for mo. I
filled in for uh, you know, in other ways.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
But I'm back.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Our show is back. We are home on our regular
time five to seven pm. Thank you for joining us.
I can't tell you how excited I am to be
back right here on Saturdays, because you know, you switch
up your routine a bit and it can throw you
off a little bit. And I'm always grateful to get
any time on the station. But this is our home.
(00:58):
So shout out to all of our Saturdays with Tiffany
listeners who regularly contact me on social media and tell
me that they missed the show or that they you know,
that they're listening to the podcast.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
I appreciate all of that.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Speaking of something that I appreciate, I don't know what
you did last night, you know what before I get
into that. Let me just kind of rewind just a
little bit and backtrack and talk about Neil Savadra a bit.
One of the things that I enjoy doing speaking of
podcast is I'll catch up on any show I've missed.
Usually it's a Handle and Handle on the Law or
Handle on the News, and I'll put that on and
(01:35):
get on the treadmill and do my little thirty minutes
or whatever it is. And I was listening to Handle
on the News, and this is somewhat of what Neil
was referencing. I'm not going to say at all, but
I'll just tell you go back last week to one
of the Handle on the News programs twenty twenty minutes
(01:55):
and listen and just kind of see if you can
pick out what was said. That had me text Neil
early in the morning a couple of days later, like,
oh my god, did you say that? And he literally
was like, what do you mean? What are you talking about?
And kind of tried to call my bluff, but it
was acknowledged that yes, I caught it. Eagle eared listener
(02:18):
myself because I am a fan of the station. But
go back and listen to any of the old podcasts.
Of course, on the iHeartRadio app, especially that Handle on
the News segment from last week, and if you can
figure out what was said that had me clutch my
pearls and laugh and almost fall off of the clutch
my proverbial pearls and fall off of the literal treadmill,
(02:40):
I will send you something special in the mail. You're
going to have to do that and go to the
talk back feature on the iHeart app and let me
know if you can catch what Neil said on Handle
on the news sometime toward the middle to end of
last week.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
It was so funny.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
We're watching quite a few big stories. I'm going to
get into that in a moment. Last night, I hung
out in downtown Monrovia. Anyone familiar with Monrovia.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
It is right at the base of Foothill Foothill Boulevard
there near what is that Sierra Madre near Pas Sadena,
beautiful community, and I think it's on the last Friday
of the month they have like a street fair and
they close down their cute, little quaint little downtown area
(03:32):
and make it walkable only and make it kind of
like a promenade. And you get out there and you
bar hop you do all these things. And I was
with friends and had a great time, and they had
a little petting zoo. And I went to this little
petting zoo where they had piglets and baby goats and
two lamas which were shaved completely down, only leaving the
(03:53):
fur kind of around their neck. So those lamas looked
a little interesting and goats and you paid, you get
a little cup of hey with a little sprinkle of
carrots on the top.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I found that that was a scam.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
But you get in there and you enjoy these little
animals and you're you're petting, and I'm doing that because
I'm a huge animal lover. But one of my concerns
is if you are going to have a petting zoo
and you were going to facilitate that, please watch the patrons.
Because one of the patrons and her children who were
probably under five at are around five years old, were
(04:29):
picking up the piglets. They were picking them up and
cradling them like they were baby dolls or puppies or kittens,
and these piglets were squealing.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
So I go over kind of do my Karen thing,
and I'm like, excuse.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Me, excuse me, to the to the the facilitator of
the of the zoo, and I'm like, are you supposed
to pick up the animals?
Speaker 2 (04:50):
And he said no. I said, well, that's Laney over there.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
You can.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
I do the nudge with your neck right that Lanny
over there is picking up the pigs. And he's like,
what what do you mean They usually screen if you
pick them up. I said, well, they're screaming, sir. So
he turned around and handled that. But that was my
night last night down in Monrovia. Beautiful place. Definitely a
place that I would find myself living if I only
I could afford it. Looked at some of the real
(05:15):
estate listings in Monrovia and it's definitely desirable. Not yet
quite in my tax bracket, but shout out to Monrovia.
Really enjoyed you, those of you who came up and said, hey,
I kind of recognize you.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Are you on that station? Yes, that was me, that
is I, And it was great to be down there
with you.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
All Right, let's get into some of the stories that
we are watching, because there are quite a few things
that are happening locally even though it's a Saturday, and
I want to share that with you before we get
into what burning man is, What the heck is the
orgy dome? What's going on with those zimpic and the
newest side effects that are affecting women's genitalia? Why is
(05:56):
that woman still stuck on a mountain? How come she's
not coming down? There's a lot of stories to cover,
but before we do the biggest stories that are kind
of floating around right now. One of them specifically involves
crime in California California at large, and Governor Newsom is
saying homicides are down twenty percent, robberies are down nineteen percent.
(06:19):
He said he's deploying CHP officers more officers to monitor
regions around the state to keep the momentum of this
downward trend for crime going. All of this likely a
response to what many consider as a heavy handed strategy
by the Trump administration with bringing in the National Guard
(06:41):
to select cities. Governor Newsom is appearing to try and
get ahead of that. He also said, Governor Newsom that
California is launching a state wide task force to dismantle
homeless encampments on state property, and that's going to be
called Safe Safe State Action for Facilitation of Encampments so
(07:05):
that's supposed to happen fairly quickly, again as a strategy
to get ahead of what the Trump administration is instituting
in cities around the country in hopes to quell or
mitigate crime. Continuing, if you've been following the story of
the eagles, speaking of eagle eye listeners, eagle eyes, there
(07:26):
are these eagles still in Big Bear. Big Bear is
a huge environment for the eagles, and we all found ourselves,
many of us anyway, glued to our social media wanting
to know more about the eagle family in Big Bear.
Those eglists have sincetached, moved on months in the making,
so the sightings are sparse, but there are still things
(07:48):
in place, still strategies, i would say, in place to
help protect the environment there in Big Bear. And one
of them is that this weekend, Big Bear will host
a drone not a fireworks show, a drone show and
a lighted boat parade on Sunday tomorrow that will allow
(08:08):
all of everyone to enjoy what they have to offer
and not scare off our little eagle friends. So that's
a fun little development coming out of Big Bear. In
response to what happened over the fourth of July, weekend
in which regular fireworks were used. There were oh, there's
a lot of conversation about that. There was a huge
petition to try and stop it, none of which was successful.
(08:31):
They went forward with the fireworks. But now tomorrow a
drone show, no fireworks, so hopefully everyone is happy.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
When we come back, I'm going to tell you about.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
This mystery interstellar object that has been identified, has been seen,
and may very well be coming towards us in a
way that scientists are saying could spur on the first
alien contact. That's if they actually make it to Earth
(09:02):
before their shot down. I imagine we'll talk about that
and what's going on with Children's Hospital of LA and
I have audio I want to share with you of
a crazy and insane car chase that happened last night,
culminating in Malibu. Tell you all about that and more.
On the other side of the break, It's Saturdays with Tiffany.
We are back whoo from five to seven pm right
(09:25):
here on KFIAM six forty Live Everywhere on the iHeartRadio
app Saturdays with Tiffany back in the driver's seat at
our regular time a five pm, two seven pm.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Thank you so much for listening.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
I did mention in the last segment that when I
was on a treadmill I overheard Neil Savedra say something
really interesting on handle on the news. It happened sometime
between Wednesday and Friday of last week. And if you
can find what Neil said, that had me rushed to
text him to say, did you just say that? I
(10:01):
will send you something free courtesy of Saturdays with Tiffany,
some fun promo. Use the talkback feature on the iHeart
app and let us know, let us know what your
ideas are. He gave some hints it was in relation
to Burning Man and the Orgy tint. That's all I'll say.
So if you can find it and you can spot it,
(10:23):
then send it in through the iHeart app the talkback feature,
and that should be a lot of fun. And I
don't think we'll play it on air, but to figure
it out. Okay, So talking about our stories that are local,
our stories that are still developing here around the Southland,
I mentioned something about an interstellar object. Now, the reason
(10:48):
I can include this here is because honestly, scientists don't
know if it's going to actually hit us, let alone
hit us here in southern California.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
But here's what's going on.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Those of you who are space nerds like me, listen
in because this is your segment. There's an interstellar object
speeding through our solar system, our little cute, little solar system,
and it's been spotted spewing a metal unlike anything seen
in natural comets. So this interstellar object is kicking out,
(11:24):
spilling out something that is not known to us. It's
not common when it comes to comets. It was spotted
last month, so in July, and at the time scientists
estimated its size to be less than a mile long.
Now this thing has been documented as being one point
five miles long, so significantly larger. And again they don't
(11:50):
know where or when it will hit, even if it
will hit hit us at all, but it's definitely on
its way through our solar systems. Should the aliens, should
this interstellar object somehow break through our atmosphere during this broadcast,
I'll make sure to stop everything and let you know now.
(12:12):
And speaking about crime in our city, and I mentioned
a while ago, a little while ago in the last
segment that Knewsom gave some updates about crime stats being
down across the board, something that does not seem to
be down. Unfortunately, are these insane police chases, these insane
pursuits in recent months, We've seen quite a few of
(12:35):
them end in ways that were comical. But in this case,
this particular pursuit ended with a devastating crash, and it started, unfortunately,
with a kidnapping.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
I think we have some audio for that.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Righty right into cross traffic and the driver loses control
right into the hillside there at a major intersection and
that's gonna be Canaan doom road.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
And the driver is now jumping out of the vehicle.
There's two kids inside that vehicle, and we are okay,
these running he's on the run. They're gonna chase them
up this embankment here there are children inside that vehicle.
We'll go back just a second. Right now, we're gonna
stick with the driver. California Highway Patrol chasing the suspect
up the embankment as he runs for his life here
up the hillside on the west side into an apartment complex.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
So, as you heard there, there was a devastating crash.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
There's this car that comes into frame during this high
speed chase and CHPs behind this person.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
They are on pch right there.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
By Canaan Dune road, and all of a sudden, this
car fleeing the police t bones into another car, an
innocent person there, and Kreem's into the hillside. The person,
this suspect, gets out, starts running fleas he's tackled, he's detained,
and he's taken in. But the details that have emerged
(14:01):
from this chase include the fact that there was a
mother who had her three children in the car. Ages
not confirmed at this time, but all miners in the
car with her, and she got out of the car
for a moment. Think it's a grocery store, some sort
of something. She got out the car and she left
the car running. Not uncommon, these are kids of a
certain age. Yeah, it's perfectly fine. It was hot yesterday,
(14:24):
air conditioning's on. You get out the car, you walk away,
you do something, you come right back. And in those
short few moments, the suspect hopped into the car, proceeded
to jack the car and drive the car. The father
of the children was still in the car. He was
more or less pushed out and dragged. Luckily he survived.
(14:48):
But the crash happened with these three children in the
car while this person, this maniac, this scumbag is driving
through the streets crashes into that innocent victims. Well, fortunately
and miraculously no one was killed. But these chases, it
just seems like they are on the uptick, and I
(15:09):
don't understand why. I don't know if it's spurred on
by social media. I don't know what's happening, but there
definitely seems to be an influx of these chases in
the last few years. And again they sometimes end in
ways that we report and we can kind of chuckle
and shake our heads that the lack of this or
lack of that, But in this case, this could.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Have had tremendous, tremendous.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Consequences, and we're just all lucky that we didn't see
that unfold last night in that chase.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Hey, Tiff, Yeah, did you see the chase?
Speaker 3 (15:41):
I believe it was yesterday, maybe day before, where the
car crashed into the King Taco sign. Yeah, not that
whole Taco sign off. Its hinges crazy, rude. I know
so many other places you could crash into. You crash
into King Taco. It's a beloved institution that seemed.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Personal, you know.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
I don't like that with these children, there's a good
chance that they were likely taken into a local hospital
to be monitored, to be checked for injuries. If they
were taken to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, they might
have found their parents as well, might have found that
the care provided to them, while stellar, might have been
(16:23):
scaled back in volume. Because hundreds of employees at the
Children's Hospital of Los Angeles were informed just this last Wednesday,
just a couple of days ago, that their positions have
been completely eliminated.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
You think of a.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
Place where scaling back a workforce might make sense, and
I don't think children's hospitals at all show up on
that list. In this case, According to the CHLA news release,
they were scaled back because of quote unquote growing financial challenges.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
We know what that means.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
That means they're out of money or they're some well
that has run dry. There's an estimated four hundred and
thirty nine positions that have been impacted, which is nearly
six percent of the hospital's entire workforce, and that includes
those in management, support, administrative services, and clinical care, all
(17:25):
vital to Children's Hospital of LA. That amounts to more
than two hundred and fifty employee positions that have been
completely eliminated, and the other one hundred and eighty six
have been reduced and they've been offered options to transfer
or adjust their roles and whatnot. Now CHLA officials, of course,
have elaborated because there's been a lot of interest in
(17:46):
what the heck this means, what the implications are, and
they set that explaining the growing financial challenges that it's
honestly a consequence of the Big Beautiful Bill, that's what
they're saying. They're saying that they've become a target of
budget cuts since Trump was reelected, and even though the
(18:09):
Children's Hospital of LA has the nations one of the
nation's top research institutions in the Saban Research Institute, that
they have fallen victim to these massive budget cuts, which
include hundreds of billions of dollars in Medicaid cuts amidst
the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which
(18:31):
was signed by law into Trump on July fourth. Children's
Hospital of LA, as you may know, is ranked is
one of the top ranked medical centers for kids in
California and on the West Coast. So this is devastating
to everything operationally there. Socially, emotionally, I imagine, and we'll
(18:52):
have to see, of course, how this continues to shake down.
But right now, four hundred and thirty nine positions, four
hundred and thirty nine lives and their families have been
greatly impacted by this scaling back and elimination of these
positions at ch LA.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
When we come back, we're.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Going to continue talking about some stories local to the Southland,
including an update on Jake Harrow. Jake Harrow, the father
there of Emanuel Harrow. That's seven month old baby still missing.
Don't know where he is, but Jake Harrow, Rebecca Harrow,
his parents both arrested on charges of murder, and dad
(19:33):
Jake Harrow is speaking out. I'll tell you what he
had to say and more. On the other side of
the break, It's Saturdays with Tiffany right here on KFI
AM six forty Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app Saturdays
with Tiffany.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Hey, Eric, and I didn't even say hi to you.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Hey, Hello, board Op Eric and bord Op Nikki in
there almost cause you producer, Eric, you do everything, You
literally do everything around here.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
I'm a Swiss army knife. What can I say? That's
a great way to describe yourself. Hi, Nikki, Hi, what's happening?
Speaker 3 (20:06):
How are you?
Speaker 2 (20:06):
I'm good, I'm well, thank you very much. We're working
on a long weekend.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
I know, I know, and I don't think the three
of us have not worked together, like in total together.
I've worked with you. Nikki and Eric will usually pass
each other, but this is our first time. We should
be at a pool postse or an orgy tenth.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
We'll get to that very quickly. Well, yeah, we'renna talk
about that later, you know, and we can go its journalists.
We'll report now, what's a partake the gea pig?
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Okay, see see, I'm I'm talking about hard hitting news here.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
You're Eric gets your mind right? The family show? All right?
Speaker 3 (20:43):
Now, how do we pivot from that to this? Don't
laugh at that, Kayla, I just guinea pig. I really
wanted to ask my questions about that, but I'll go
into this. It makes me think about that Richard volunteers
tribute or you volunteer to be the guinea pig.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
I definitely voluntears tribute and guinea pig and.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
Science experimenting with or without Richard gear or with Richard Gear,
with Vego Mortons and with Tom Hardy, you name it.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
There's a list. There's a big list. Is it is
it two or more that creates a three and above?
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Three and above? Okay, so those are the parameters the
microphones are on.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Girl.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
All right, we'll talk about this after six o'clock.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
We're gonna get into Burning Man and all the particulars
where it started and where it's, where it's gotten to.
I guess you could say what it's come to. And
those details are somewhat sordid and interesting, and people still
go out there and do this two weekends in a row.
This is the last weekend, I believe. So we're gonna
end this holiday weekend with the conversation about Burning Man.
(21:47):
But before we do that, let's revisit this story that
continues to just grow more and more legs, and it
will until the details fully emerge. There's still so much
we don't know, and that is largely in part due
to the father and the mother in this situation, who
know everything but they're not telling and that is really
(22:11):
really heartbreaking. So what's happening is Emmanuel Horrow, that seven
month old baby who went missing. Now about two weeks ago,
is still as of today missing.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
He has not been uncovered.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Authorities have switched the mission to find Emmanuel Horrow to
a mission to recover what they believe are his remains
that may or may not be placed in the area
in which the family lived out there in San Bernardino County.
That is, on the heels of the father and the mother,
(22:46):
Jake Harrow and Rebecca Harrow, respectively, being arrested on suspicion
of murder of that seven month old baby, of their baby,
who they alleged, in an elaborate story, was kidnapped after
mother Rebecca Harrow, was hit over the head while changing
the baby's diaper outside of a store out there in
(23:08):
San Bernardino County, and when she came to her baby
was gone. And that thus started this intense search to
find baby Immanuel. But the all of the details, all
of the suspicions, all the evidence has pointed to and
led to what now is an arrest on suspicion of murder. Well,
(23:28):
while they are in jail, Dad Jake Harrow is talking.
He's talking, and he didn't know he was speaking to
an informant. He thought he was just speaking casually to
a cellmate. Well, that cellmate ended up being an informant
placed there to gather information, and the information that has
(23:49):
come out is sickening.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
It's sickening.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
Well, Jake Harrow says, first and foremost, Rebecca is innocent.
He said, Rebecca had nothing to do with this. She
is innocent, Rebecca being the mother. He went on to
say that he loves his son, that if he could
see his son, he would say, I love.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
You, buddy. Make your skin crawl, doesn't It makes your
skin crawl.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
He also went on to say that allegations of long
term abuse on Emmanuel on another child, Emmanuel's older half sister,
are not true at all. He did say that he
has been completely cooperative with investigators. This is Jake Harrow,
the father there of seven month old missing Emmanuel Harrow,
(24:42):
who is presumed to be dead. He further tried to
convince this informant that he cares about Emmanuel, that he
even tried to get Immanuel inoculated, tried to get him vaccinated,
tried to qualify his parenting and his care and compassion
for his kid, all while behind bars facing a one
million dollar bail and an arraignment that likely, once the
(25:04):
details come out, will turn and shift into a very
lengthy and deservedly so prison sentence. But in all of
these conversations, in conversations that were casual and held without
him really knowing who he's speaking to, in conversations that
have been designated as jailhouse interviews, Jake Harrow says, none
(25:25):
of this, none of this is true. This didn't happen.
We didn't We didn't kill our son. But then you wonder,
why then did he? Jake Harrow lead authorities to the
base of mountains in San Bernardino County, saying that he
knew where baby Immanuel's remains were. That really grinds my gears.
(25:48):
You've already committed this heinous act and now you're saying
you didn't.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
But then you lead.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
Authorities on a search that proves to be fruitless, and
then you continue with this volleying of information.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
It's sadistic, it's sick.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
They know where this kid is and again they're facing
both of them a one million dollar bail. More information
has come out about Jake Harrow, including the fact that
there was a twenty and eighteen incident in which Jake
was previously convicted on a charge of wilful child cruelty
after an incident involving his daughter, Karlina, who was ten
(26:28):
weeks old at the time. This is his daughter from
a previous relationship. His ten week old infant daughter in
twenty eighteen was the victim of child cruelty at the
hands of Emmanuel's father, Jake Harrow. The details of that
incident are devastating. They are devastating, and they include that
(26:54):
this little girl, Carolina, who is alive but is permanently
bedridden and has sarah rub palsy as a result of
this long term abuse include multiple fractures of ribs, of legs,
of arms, of her skull, brain hemorrhaging, and amense swelling
(27:15):
of pre vertibral soft tissue of the next severe infant
excuse me, severe abuse for any infant. And that's according
to authorities and all authorities involved in this case, from
the Riverside County DA Mike Hestron to anyone who has
their hands on this case, including Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco,
(27:38):
say that Jake Harrow should have been in jail from
the first incident back in twenty eighteen and had he
been in jail back then what happened to a Manuel
likely wouldn't have happened, and that this was an immense
failure on children by the Riverside County Authorities and Child
and Protective Services. When we come back, I'm gonna tell
(28:02):
you something really distressing. If you like to hike, this
will be a cautionary tale for you because there's a
woman who's an experienced hiker. Well, she had an injury,
and that injury resulted in her being stuck on top
of a mountain. To this day, she hasn't been rescued.
Now we're going into the second almost third week, and
(28:25):
she's presumed to be dead, but her son is saying,
do not give up. You go out there and you
look for my mom. I'm gonna give you the details
about this story because there are lots lots of twists
and turns in this story that make it something that
is just it's out of a movie.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
It's certainly out of a movie.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
I'll tell you all about that as well as a
North Carolina woman who got the upper hand on it
would be criminal when she grabbed the criminals.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
I'll tell you what what she grabbed. When we come back,
on the other side of the break.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
Okay, if I am six forty live everywhere on the
iHeartRadio app, Tiffany Hobs here till seven, Tifney hobs Here
till seven. It's Saturdays with Tiffany, and what a beautiful,
glorious Saturday it is. I hope you are enjoying your
Labor Day weekend and that you have some fun and
safe plans. Just know, if you are on the road,
(29:14):
CHP is expecting or planning to not expecting to.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
They are planning to.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
Quote flood the roads with more and more vehicles to
make sure that you are driving safely, especially after all
of these high speed pursuits, and of course Governor Newsom
extolling the fact that California has decreased its crime across
the board, but not necessarily with terrible drivers. And there
(29:41):
are so many of you guys out there really quickly
as well. Make sure you hit that talk back feature
on the iHeart app. I know it's the Labor Day weekend,
and I know you know, with the Labor Day and holidays,
we kind of seem to weigh in a bit, but interact,
talk to me, let me know what you're thinking. I
posed this challenge at the beginning of the show that
(30:03):
if you can, if you can spot, you can listen
to something that Neil Savadrus said on Handle on the
News between Wednesday and Friday of last week. You can
go to the iHeartRadio podcast and listen to that handle
on the news segment. Sometime between Wednesday and Friday, Neil
(30:23):
said something in conjunction with a burning man's story, and
he whispered it ever so lightly, but I caught it,
and I text him, did you just say that? Nothing
that was bleeped? Nothing like that, But see if you
can catch it, and if you can catch it, and
you share with us what you think it is on
(30:45):
the iHeart app using the talk back feature, I will
send you some free Saturdays with Tiffany swag, some free
Saturdays with Tiffany promo. So sometime between Wednesday and Friday,
I don't know I even narrow it down when stay
in Thursday, but you gotta go check that handle on
the news segment. And of course you can listen to
any of our shows right there on the iHeart app.
(31:08):
If you like hiking like I do, and I don't
do it nearly enough, then perhaps you might find yourself,
challenging yourself.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
More and more hikers do this.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
They may start off with something small and then eventually
graduate to maybe more of a life goal, a bucket
list item. Well, there's one woman. Her name is Natalia Nagavitzna,
and she's an avid hiker. She loves to really push
the limit. She's not hiking over there at Runyon, No,
(31:38):
She's going to the highest tallest mountains in Russia. And
one of the mountains that she decided to conquer is
about the height of Mount Everest.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
It's called Victory Peak.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
It's about twenty four thousand, just shive twenty four thousand,
five hundred feet tall. Again, about as tall as Mount Ever,
it's a bucket list item for a lot of people. Now,
Natalia an experienced climber who's been doing this for years.
She's been doing this for years. Was no stranger to danger.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
Of course, you can't be.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
You're gonna do this type of hiking kind of comes
with the territory. And I've heard hikers like this say
that they know this could be their last hike, that
that's a part of the thrill. Well, Natalia has had
that happen before, where she's actually experienced death on a
mountain four years ago, back in twenty twenty one. It's
(32:36):
funny when I think four years, I'm like twenty seventeen, No,
twenty twenty one, right, or in the future. Natalia was
climbing with her husband. She and her husband's Sergey, were
hiking out there at a major summit when he, her
husband suffered a fatal stroke. Okay, he had a stroke
(32:57):
on the mountain. Well, Natalia, of course stayed with her husband.
A blizzard happened, she stayed there, She tried to help
save him and then shelter him, but unfortunately her husband
Sergey did in fact pass away. That didn't stop Natalia
from hiking, and just a few weeks ago she decided
(33:17):
to conquer that Victory peak. And when Natalia set out, unfortunately,
not long into.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Her hike, she broke her leg. She broke her leg.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
She was out there solo, a solo hiking expedition, and
within days of her injury, because she was able to
be spotted, they sent a drone and they were able
to locate where she was on this mountain. Other climbers
went in pursuit of trying to help her, to rescue her,
render a take food, whatever it may be. One of
those climbers is a friend of hers, Italian mountaineer Luca Signey.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Let's try this again.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Luca s forty nine years old, who had befriended her
on these hikes. Unfortunately, in trying to find Italia, he died.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
He died while trying to find her, help her, take
her food, do all these things. He died. So she
was still up on this mountain.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
Her son, twenty seven year old Mikail Nagavitzna, kept telling
anyone who would listen, reporters, authorities, get my mother's some help,
and they did. They flew helicopters, they flew drones. They
were watching her, they saw her signal until they said
they couldn't do it anymore because the weather had just
(34:40):
gotten too bad, really heavy cloud cover. The drones, the helicopters,
none of that could be flown nearby. And unfortunately, on Friday,
August twenty third, after twelve days of failed attempts and
storms that were growing increasingly worse, authorities announced that the
rescue operation to get Natalia was over and that they
(35:06):
suspected that she is no longer alive. Her son is
saying that is absolutely not true. When they saw her
on the drone over this last few weeks, she was waving,
she had energy, she's alive. He's saying, keep going, keep looking,
But authorities now are saying no, they're not going to
(35:26):
do it. So this story has not yet resolved itself.
It's ongoing. The son vows to keep searching for his
mom and to enlist whoever he can so that, you know,
the hopefully at least her body can be recovered. But
that's a really, really sad story and a cautionary tale.
I'd say to not hike by yourself at the very least.
(35:48):
Buddy system. Not victim blaming or shaming, but buddy system, I.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Guess, especially if you've your experience and you've been doing
this for years. It just shows that anything can happen
at any time, so it's better to be safe. Always
always break your leg.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
You know, that's awful, awful, And her husband passed away
before you know something else that's awful. Pick pockets. Pickpockets
are the scourge of the earth, or at least one
of them. There are quite a few, and there's one
pickpocket who found out that a woman from North Carolina
was no one to play with and a viral clip
(36:21):
that's making its rounds around social media. Christine Cadeau Green
can be seen holding on to a pickpocketing teenager's ponytail
and refusing to let go for just under an hour
until law enforcement arrived. So this pickpocket tried to get them,
tried to get them in Venice in Italy, Okay, tried
(36:43):
to pickpocket. The mom turned around and said uh uhh
and grabbed her ponytail and held on to it for
an hour. Said the pickpocket was clawing, begging, screaming, just
please let me go, Please let me go. And this
mom said she tightened her grips, she twisted that wrist
around and she held on a vice grip of that
ponytail for about an hour until police came. And she
(37:05):
attributes it to having eight children. She says, I've dealt
with worst. I have eight children.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
Have you ever had eight children?
Speaker 3 (37:13):
Then this is small potatoes, but kind of satisfying to
see a pickpocket get what they deserve. And you know,
kind of like a momish consequence too. You know, I
kind of wanted her to like swater spanker, just bad, bad,
pickpocket bad. When we come back we're going to get
into this deeper dive segment. It's all about your favorite festival.
(37:36):
You know nothing about Burning Man, What is Burning Man?
Speaker 2 (37:41):
How did it start?
Speaker 3 (37:43):
And how has it seemingly devolved into where we're talking
about orgy tents and you know other things that are
very interesting. I've never been. I don't think I'll ever go,
and this is These are I'll tell you why. These
are the reasons why you probably won't either, right here
