Alec Grant is exhausted from his teaching job. His wife Moria talks him into taking a years' sabatical to rest and write a book he has been working on and also finally get that honeymoon they were never able to take. Moria has made an agreement with the Gottschalks, a young austrian couple to swap their home for the Grants' apartment for a year. When the Gottschalks fail to arrive in NY, Alec and Maura decide to fly out that day anyway. When they arrive in Austria, strange things begin to happen. They are totally unaware of the terrible secret the house has and are also haunted by a fearsome creature.
