The nineteen k's, that's I'm not gonna get it done.
Usually nineteen k's for what for you guys?
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Tonight? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Hi, Hi everybody, so good morning.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
Hi.
Speaker 6 (02:01):
Can you guys just for a second, and like I'm
not trying to play the role of victim here, but
can you just for a second put yourself in our
shoes just for a second?
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Okay?
Speaker 6 (02:13):
Do you think that we want to come here and
talk about this? Do you think like I'm being serious? Okay?
And I know that there are a lot of people
out there, you dastardly media guys, and you're all negative
and all that. Okay, great, Okay, fine, it's our fault. Great, okay,
Honest to god, I'm not being funny. Do you think
(02:34):
for a second that there's anybody in this room, on
this network that wants to be talking about what is
transpiring with the Detroit Tigers right now. Anybody, dude, Like,
I'm not joking. I told my kid last nights Mas
and JB. I told my kid last night, I said,
(02:55):
I want to take the day off tomorrow. I just said,
you know what, We've been doing this for a few months.
I haven't taken a day off yet, and tomorrow might
be the first day to take off. Might be I
came here, I showed up and everything. Okay, so here's
the thing. I Number one, I don't want to talk
about this because it's it's my team, and I understand
I have a job to do, so you you have
(03:17):
to do a job objectively and you know fairly at
least in your mind. Okay. Number two, do you think
I want to be besieged by the maniacs who are
excusing this away.
Speaker 7 (03:31):
That doesn't exist? It can't exist.
Speaker 6 (03:34):
Did you have you seen my Twitter line? Some of
the conversations I've had with human beings are unbelievable, where
I like, I'm are you a bot? Is this real?
It's it's I've heard things like, well you guys complain now,
but guess what, you lost the right to share in
the celebration when this pans out. So, if I'm following correctly,
(04:01):
nobody in the fan base should be upset that the
Tigers are in the midst of truly is historic collapse.
That's what you're saying. Nobody should be upset at that.
Nobody is saying that the Tigers fans shouldn't be upset that,
forget about improving the team at the deadline, Scott Harris
(04:22):
made them worse. Nobody should be upset about that. He
didn't make them worse. People are saying things like this.
Speaker 7 (04:30):
Paul Seawall didn't get out of an inning last night.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
So what I told So what I said to one
guy last night, I kid you not. I said, hmm, well,
if guys like Morton and Paddock helped to the Tigers,
why did they release one of them and send the
other one demoted to the bullpen? That wouldn't make much sense.
(04:54):
Like that's where we're at right now. It is absolutely remarkable,
And of course the Guardian fans are piling on. And
you know what, I brought this up yesterday and I'll
bring it up again today. I got nothing for you guys.
Speaker 7 (05:10):
Can't blame them.
Speaker 6 (05:11):
I got nothing for you, guys, I can't. I'm not
gonna I'm not gonna fire back. I'm not gonna There
comes a time, much like we told our Viking friends
last year, there comes a time where you just have
to shut your mouth and when their demise comes, not if,
when their demise comes, whether it be the hand at
the hands of the Mariners, whether it be at the
(05:32):
hands of the Yankees, when their demise comes. I also
don't have the right to pile on them. No, how
can I pile on them when they absolutely humbled us
the last week and a half of the year. I
can't be that guy. Viking fans. Seriously, such a bad look,
just such a bad look. Last year, it really was Mas,
(05:54):
I got nothing. AJ is speechless in his own word,
he's speechless. AJ. You know who always finds a way
to turn into shiny, happy people.
Speaker 7 (06:06):
Then they go to Stanford.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
I don't know his hand. Is he one of those guys? Yeah,
well he's not. He's not as.
Speaker 7 (06:12):
Smart as bred osmas complete ivy.
Speaker 6 (06:16):
Yeah, yeah, he's not as smart as brad Ousma.
Speaker 7 (06:18):
Listen, man, I wrote it last night built for October.
That was gonna be the slogan, guys, just to let
you know, Yeah, I wrote you guys last night. We
were all we're all in this together. We're all watching
this game together on the text thread, and I'm really
I mean this too. We laugh, we joke. I'm really
(06:39):
heartbroken for these guys because I look at them and
they've got nothing. They're looking in space, their eyes are
like glazed over. They can't do anything. They can't hit,
they can't pitch, they can't field. Look at the Dylan
Dingler dropping a foul ball that led the two runs.
(07:00):
Almost got him off the hook, almost, but it wouldn't
have mattered anyway if it was a two to one game.
Once it was two to one, it was over. We
can't score more than one run. I don't remember the
last time we put two runs together in an inning.
So here it is a team that I've been to
a ton of home games this year and I've enjoyed.
I love and I keep telling my wife or hoever
(07:21):
i'm with, I love this place. I love Comerica, I
really do. And I've been to a lot of parks.
I'm putting this one. Maybe it just feels like home
to me. But I just love it. I love every
nook and cranny at this place, and they gave us
a hell of a ride. And I can't believe it's over.
(07:42):
And I know they're one game up on the Wild
Car Houston. Houston lost last night again. They're losing like
the Twins lost last year, just like us this year,
we're both backing into the playoffs. One of us will
back into the playoffs. I can't wrap my head around
(08:02):
how it just completely the floor just opened and they
fell in. And they don't have a guy like a
Valera on Cleveland that hit that home run. Even their
home runs hardly do anything. Wasn't it one of the
shortest home runs. It's the only home it had only
been a home run at at Progressive Field. That home
(08:24):
run that Parker metto is almost caught. Even their home runs.
Our little dirt bag little singles and stuff, dribblers bunts.
By the way, David Fry out for the year. But
did you hear that schoobl went and visited them with
the Skipper Steven vote the other day? That's classy. The
guy is a mess. He's going to be out for
(08:47):
He's gonna be They say he's rested comfortably by the
way he got hit in the face the other day
Tuesday night. Let me say, man, I just look at
the Tigers and I feel for everyone. I looked at
Kerry Carpenter, October Red carry Carpenter, who praises the Lord.
He had nothing.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
He's October ready, he had nothing.
Speaker 7 (09:06):
Torque he takes a called strike.
Speaker 6 (09:09):
That man is October ready.
Speaker 7 (09:11):
Okay, Riley Green, we've seen him.
Speaker 6 (09:14):
Can we can we hear from Riley? Well, we have
a second.
Speaker 7 (09:17):
Steve absolutely, Riley, what happened?
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Man?
Speaker 6 (09:20):
Look at the look on his face. Man talking about
watch a look on his face?
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Look at nineteen k's for what for you?
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Guys?
Speaker 6 (09:31):
That's it?
Speaker 7 (09:32):
Look at him.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
That's a Detroit Tigers.
Speaker 7 (09:34):
Guys, Tigers I've never seen I'm sixty three. I have
never seen a baseball team look like this.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
It's it's it's insane. So our top three pitchers on
our staff, Okay, in the last three days, one guy
could make it past six innings. The other guy, you
set your watch to it. He can't get into the
sixth inning. You know that. The fifth Casey Mice, And
then you had the other guy that went four and
a third sixteen innings from our top three pitchers.
Speaker 7 (10:07):
And today is a bullpen game. On getaway Day, you
must win and we have a bullpen game.
Speaker 6 (10:15):
So here's the reality. Okay, the Indians are up in
essence a game and a half with four.
Speaker 7 (10:23):
Games to the division's over.
Speaker 6 (10:25):
Yeah, so here's what it comes back to. And the Astros,
as you mentioned, are in a free fall as well.
All the Astros have to do is win two games
of four. They have three against the Angels and one
against the A's. All they have to do is win
two games of four, because I really I don't believe
the Tigers are gonna win again. Remember how we did
(10:45):
that the other day and we were like one too.
They're shot like that. You guys are watching the same
thing we're watching. And I'm gonna say it again, you guys,
honest to goodness. If you're mad at Maz, if you're
mad at me, if you're gonna get mad at KG
when he gets up on the soapbox, if you're mad
(11:06):
at JB. Okay, JB's the guy that puts Riley Green
up there. If you're mad at us, that's misguided anger.
It's not my fault. It's not kg's fault, it's not
Mass's fault, it's not JB's fault. None of this is
our fault. And this is where I will repeat what
I said at the beginning of the show. Do you
fucking think any of us want to be talking about this?
(11:30):
Like I'm not being funny just for a second. I
know you're mad. And if you say good night, got
a bad guy, you know it's scarface. Okay, you want
to make somebody the bad guy. Okay, we'll all be
the bad guy. That's okay, Okay, But now take a
step back, and I want to I want you to
think about this logically. Do you think any of us
want to wake up and come here and talk about
(11:52):
this shit? Do you think any of us want this?
None of us want this. This is insane. There's no
glee from this, there's no haha, Scott har It's nobody
wants this. This is like I was telling my kid
last night, I don't know how to adequately try to
explain the unexplainable, because again, you guys, this is historic.
(12:17):
Those aren't my words, that's Major League Baseball's words. It's
never happened fifteen and a half would be the largest
gap that was covered. It's never happened. I I I
got nothing, man Like, Honestly, I feel like aj. I'm
(12:37):
speechless right now. It's it's insane. It makes you rethink everything,
and to the Yahoo's out there, guys, I guess we've lost.
We've lost the right to celebrate when the good times
are surely coming. Oh, and they're coming, don't you worry.
You can't name one picture in the pipelines that's gonna
(13:01):
replace Derek Scoobel, But they're coming, don't you worry.
Speaker 7 (13:07):
Do you really think he's completely gone?
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Yes, he's gone.
Speaker 6 (13:11):
Not only do I think he's gone. I was under
the impression that they were gonna hold onto him and
just let him walk next year.
Speaker 7 (13:19):
You got a first round pick for him, Yes, I was.
Speaker 6 (13:22):
I was under that. I do not I do not
believe for a second he is going to stay here
through next year. Not for a second. I firmly believe,
and it is a quasi educated guess I'm my dad
that they are actively going to.
Speaker 7 (13:37):
Be shopping him off season.
Speaker 6 (13:38):
I think in November, in mid season, November, I would
hope so actively actively, I would hope so that's like
I said that, that's a quasi educated guest. How's that
if you.
Speaker 8 (13:49):
Let Terrek Scoople walk amongst what just what is happening
before our very eyes right now, this whole regime deserves
to be let go. Like, honestly, you cannot let that
man just walk and don't get anything your return for him.
Speaker 6 (14:03):
You know, kg, My mindset has changed in that because
even a month ago, I would have said to you,
Trek Scoogle gives you the best chance to win a
World Series. He really does. And if we if we
were in the same spot that we were in just
two weeks ago, I would want him in September into
(14:24):
October because you know, you're October ready and everything. But
now that we see that what happened last year was
truly a miracle, like this team has shown us that
what transpired last year, I'm on your page.
Speaker 8 (14:40):
I'll trade him, yeah, I mean, and this is why
the conversation came up last year. A lot of people
were saying, you know, maybe if you trade Schooble to
the Orioles at the time, you know, you can make
your roster better quicker than you would if just by
keeping Schoogle and adding pieces the way the Tigers like
to add pieces. So like he's too good of a
(15:01):
talent to just let walk for free. I feel like
that's my fees us at that point. And if you
really want to make this team better for years to come,
even if, all right, let's say the next couple of
years we have to suck, I'm cool with that.
Speaker 5 (15:14):
But there better be a direction. There better be a plan.
Speaker 8 (15:17):
There better be something down the pipeline that as a
fan I can look forward to besides just okay, we
got a whole bunch of prospects, let's ride.
Speaker 6 (15:25):
It's almost like we've heard that somewhere before. kJ I know, right,
It's almost like I don't. I can't quite remember where
I heard that before. And we all know the names.
And again, you know what to you slap dicks out there.
I am not saying that any of these guys are
going to miss. I'm not even saying that. I can
(15:48):
tell you definitively what the track record of this franchise is.
I can tell you definitively that a majority of those
names that we heard in the past ten years did fail,
and fail miserably, I might add, and even the guys
that are here? Can we be honest? They ain't all that,
they ain't all that. Sorry they are, but I'm not
(16:12):
there yet. I can't tell you that those magical names Joe,
Sue or Clark or mcconagall, I can't tell you that
they're gonna fail.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
I can't be what's your line? What's your line where
you'll be like, I'm done with sky here So I'm
done with this regime. I'm done with all of it.
Speaker 6 (16:31):
That's a really good question. I'm not there yet. I'm not.
That's it was funny because a lot of people are going, well,
who are you gonna replace him with? And I said,
did you? Did you hear me say fire the guy?
Speaker 5 (16:39):
Right?
Speaker 6 (16:40):
I will say this if if you if you aren't
worried about him at this point in time, you're not
paying attention. No you're not. Yeah, you're not. The trade
deadline flip me? Sorry when when hold on? Just the
trade deadline? Flip me? I was going, I was going,
I'm a proceed with caution anyway. I firmly believe that
(17:01):
trust is earned, it's not just given. I am not
a slap dick and go. Tom Asway is our general manager.
I believe in Tom. Like I my brain, you have
to earn it, and Scott hadn't necessarily earned it yet.
You could see the vision he's going with. But Trey deadline,
(17:22):
and you guys were here that night when when when
he didn't get the bat and he literally made this
team worse. Let there be no argument picking up Martin
and Paddock that that was when. Okay, the clock's running.
The clock's running in my but I'm not. I'll tell
you when I'm ready to say fire a guy. I'll
be the first guy to tell you. I'm not there yet.
(17:43):
I don't know. So therefore, KG, I don't, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (17:49):
That's a good question. I don't. I if this team
really flails next year, really flails.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
You're done.
Speaker 6 (17:59):
I can't say for sure. I would say yes, though
I would guess. If I had to guess, I know.
Speaker 8 (18:03):
Me most of the city would turn on him if
they came out next year and just ship the bit.
Speaker 6 (18:09):
You guys, you better get ready for it were they
are in the process of kicking the can down the road, though,
you better. You better get ready for it if you can.
If you can't see what's going on right now, especially
if they lose Terrek Scoogle. If you can't see that
we're this close to doing that again, I don't know.
Everybody's so mad. Look how loaded this this this farm
system is. If you can't see that we're this close
(18:30):
to that point again, you're not paying attention.
Speaker 7 (18:32):
JB. Do me a favor.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
What's up.
Speaker 7 (18:34):
Let's look back at the trade deadline words of wisdom.
That's Scott Harris and we'll let we'll let Shani read
him to everyone that maybe was just listening in their car.
I want you to read him.
Speaker 5 (18:46):
I thought it was crazy.
Speaker 7 (18:47):
It's nice. Uh, it's a nice little soliloquy. I want
to give it a shot at Scott Harris, Scott, what
happened at the trade deadline?
Speaker 9 (18:54):
The flashes moves off and generate the headlines is the
most effect of moves. If you study every deadline over
the last ten years, one thing you'll find is oftentimes
the flashiest move generates a lot of excitement at the
time and fails to impact the team as much as
you would have hoped, as much as you would have lied. Oh,
(19:15):
there will be times in my tenure. Well, we do
chase the flashies and we do go land the Flashies name,
and it does really help us, but only if it
fits our needs.
Speaker 6 (19:28):
When it came to the actually, I'm done with that.
Speaker 9 (19:33):
The moves that we passed on felt like moves that
we're going to haunt us for many.
Speaker 7 (19:38):
Years to come.
Speaker 9 (19:39):
We have what we think is one of the best,
if not the best farm system in all of baseball.
Speaker 6 (19:44):
Can you believe they're playing that game again?
Speaker 10 (19:48):
We felt like at this moment in time, giving up
on young players to chase short term fixes for this
organization is not in the best interests of the Tigers,
both in short term and long term, so we tried
to attack it creatively.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
Mass hold on. Can I say this, oh you, I
agree with you in the regard that, honestly, I didn't
think there was that move, and KG mas JB, you
guys yell at me if you're wrong. I didn't think
there was that move, that no brainer move that put
your team over the top. I did not believe that.
(20:24):
I don't believe that for a second. Okay, for a second,
I want to be crystal clear on that. Okay, what
cannot be denied is this guy made moves that made
the team worse. And if Scott, if you're watching, or
maybe one of the Tigers organization is watching, I would
love to hear from you. And I'm being serious when
(20:46):
I say this. I would love to hear from you
your realization of what Charlie, Martin and Paddick did to
this team, because clearly one of them hurt the team
so badly you cut him and the other one was demoted.
So we can all sit back and say, well, this
(21:07):
was gonna happen anyway. Sure, Okay, everybody thought that way
a year ago. I love revision is history. Love it.
It's one of my favorite bits, it really is. Okay,
could you at least give me that, maybe, just maybe
the disaster that was Charlie Morton with an era above
seven and the disaster that was Paddock with an era
above six sped the process up, that it hurt the team,
(21:30):
that it added to this debacle. Could you at least
give me that? Okay? I I got nothing, man, I
just confess that. That's that's all I'm asking.
Speaker 7 (21:43):
What's the difference anyway? At this point, I feel like
I'm watching a person dying at the hospital, like they've
given him his last rites and it's only a matter
of time before he passes, because I've never seen a
team that has just vanquished. Their eyes are vacant. Yeah,
it's like they've been taken over by I don't know,
(22:03):
some out of body thing that has just they have
nothing in them. It's like they forgot how to hit.
They don't. They can't get out of their own way.
And their guy, the Skipper, is just a quiet guy.
He's not gonna go out of his way. I watched
a video yesterday of the old Texas manager Texas University
(22:26):
manager that went into his locker room and literally lit
his team on fire embarrassment, blah blah blah, screaming. They
went out won the next ten, they won the SEC
and the rest is history. AJ ain't that guy that
we want.
Speaker 8 (22:41):
And that approach don't work with everybody or everything.
Speaker 7 (22:44):
Sim Leland might have been able to pull it off.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
Maybe maybe, maybe, but it's just it's tough.
Speaker 9 (22:50):
Man.
Speaker 6 (22:50):
When when did the ranton O six for those that
were old enough to remember, happened against a loss against
the A's. Okay, AJ's not that guy, and I'm with you, KG.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
I think I don't know if a R guy helps
the situation.
Speaker 6 (23:06):
I don't I don't think they do with this team too.
With this team, I don't think they do with this team.
They really don't.
Speaker 8 (23:11):
They don't have that that alpha in the locker room
that a lot of people just go to. In previous iterations,
it was maybe Miguil Cabrera, it was maybe you know,
a couple other people.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
Maybe, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (23:23):
Leadership comes from within, and that's why I think it's
intellectually dishonest for a lot of people out there to
be talking about the youth of this baseball team right now. Hey,
news flash, guys, they ain't that young. Not that young.
They're not that young. There are young pieces, surely, Okay,
but what what was the number? I saw? They're the
(23:43):
twelfth oldest team in baseball? Right But is that true?
I don't know, are they really that young.
Speaker 8 (23:50):
I don't think they're that young. They're old enough now
to the point where.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
Most of them they should be competing mid twenties.
Speaker 7 (23:57):
I think is probably the oldest man, he's twenty seven.
Speaker 6 (24:01):
Labor.
Speaker 7 (24:02):
I mean, look, Labor ain't going to be here look
at Okay.
Speaker 6 (24:04):
But we're talking about this team right now. When people
are talking about how young this team is, that is
that that is intellectual. Finnegan is thirty four, Flairty is
twenty nine, Holton is twenty nine, Herder is twenty seven,
Tommy is thirty six, Montero is thirty four, Paddock is
twenty nine, Rainy was thirty two, Seewhill is thirty five. Obviously,
(24:27):
Charlie Morton was eighty seven. Let's see Dingler is twenty seven,
he's twenty. That's not a young prospector love the kid?
Speaker 7 (24:36):
I love an the oldest.
Speaker 6 (24:37):
What love the kid? Okay? Abanyez is thirty two, McKinstry
is thirty, Tork is twenty six, now Glabor is twenty eight.
Hobby is thirty two and was part of a championship team.
I get it. There are young pieces. I get it.
I totally get it. But I saw that yesterday and
(24:57):
I thought it from many places. Okay, I'm not calling
out one person, and I think you're being intellectually dishonest
with yourself. Are there young pieces on this team? Of course,
there are always young pieces. This is not a quote
unquote young team. They're just arms. Can we go home?
You ready?
Speaker 7 (25:15):
All right?
Speaker 6 (25:16):
See you guys, All lions tomorrow, All Lions tomorrow, Okay,
as we look at the Browns coming to town. Obviously
we appreciate you guys being a part of the chat.
I know a lot of you guys are pissed off today.
Like I said to me, this isn't even about mad
right now. This is something so beyond mad. This is gross.
I hate that. Twice in my life I've had to
(25:36):
deal with history and ineptitude in the same sentence, right
the oen sixteen Detroit Lions and this.
Speaker 8 (25:43):
And it sucks because we waited so long for a
winner in terms of baseball in this town.
Speaker 5 (25:49):
It looked like we had got one.
Speaker 8 (25:51):
But they pretty much are proving that last year was
a flash in the pan at this point. And that's
disappointing because we really expected more out of this team,
especially with the start that they got off to. There
is absolutely no reason why they should be in this
spot right now, maybe not even you know, they could
they can miss the playoffs like that is a real
legitimate fear. They could completely miss the playoffs in a
(26:14):
season where they were the best team in baseball.
Speaker 5 (26:16):
Four stretch, that is the long stretch.
Speaker 6 (26:19):
Like that is like I'm not being funny, that is
the most that's the most mind boggling thing to me,
mind boggling thing. By the way, you ready, I just
pulled this up from Baseball Reference. The Guardians are the
youngest team in baseball. How'd that work out for them?
I want you to think about that. Yeah, on of
(26:40):
one side of their mouth. I have people telling me
how young this team is. Okay, And oh, by the way, oh,
by the way, the Cleveland Gardians are the youngest team
in baseball.
Speaker 7 (26:49):
That's crazy.
Speaker 6 (26:50):
Uh one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, yes, twelfth, twelfth.
Speaker 7 (26:57):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (27:00):
Go yeah, like seriously, like stop carrying the water. Like
just if you're gonna say things, just just just be
factual about it. That's all. I'm not asking for much.
Speaker 9 (27:12):
Well, it's not surprising because they're the youngest most the
youngest teams.
Speaker 7 (27:16):
In the league.
Speaker 5 (27:17):
Yeah, we can't get his team noise.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
They're losing to the youngest team in the league.
Speaker 5 (27:22):
You can't, yeh, Cleveland brought up.
Speaker 7 (27:26):
Cleveland brought guys up for September that are helping them.
If these guys are that good, what are you afraid of?
Bring one or two of them up. Maybe they could
have lit lit a fire for the other guys, maybe
they could have done something. Remember last year when Parker
Meadows all of a sudden blossomed in the playoffs. Even
(27:49):
Ryan Sweeney was good in the playoff. But but there's nothing.
There's no new blood to come up. Everybody is like,
ah for September. You gotta look at their beverages in September,
and they're ops. It's it's abysmal. They are an abysmal
team right now. They're a shell of a team. I
(28:09):
give Cleveland credit for like not laughing at them. They're
really taking these wins and not bone sawing, not not
doing anything. They're just doing their business.
Speaker 6 (28:18):
Can I ask you a question, though, mans is Cleveland
October ready.
Speaker 7 (28:22):
Though they are? Do you think they're gonna make it?
Speaker 6 (28:26):
I just yeah, all right, I'm just asking.
Speaker 7 (28:28):
They're gonna make I gotta put my ship away from
last year. I had it out ready, and I gotta
put it away. I helped the friend the other day
by eleven thousand dollars worth the playoff tickets, and Parking
went on the because he couldn't he didn't know how
to figure it out online, so I did it for him.
He's laid out eleven thousand dollars of money. That is
(28:49):
what the Tigers right now.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
Shepp shout out to Shep. By the way, how you doing,
Chef mas Maz He can just apply that to.
Speaker 7 (28:59):
His I laughed at him, what are you gonna do?
He's like, they'll apply it to the next year.
Speaker 11 (29:03):
Year.
Speaker 6 (29:03):
Don't worry about it, just roll.
Speaker 7 (29:04):
It over, just kick the can.
Speaker 6 (29:07):
I had two tickets that we ceremoniously burned in two seriously,
we had two back in the days of physical tickets.
We had two tickets to the first round of the
playoffs in two thousand and nine when they lost game
won sixty three, and so like, to help my kid
feel better, we went out in the back and I
made one of you know, the outdoor fires. We burned
(29:29):
the tickets. So the good times. But they applied it
to next year. It was cool.
Speaker 7 (29:33):
Just just a quick side note for people that enjoy
the game of baseball. There are people that are loving
the game, like the Seattle Mariners. Just a quickie. They
won last night. They won the Al West for the
first time. Sin's O one gradually and their catcher Cal
Raley hit home run number sixty. I wish I could
show it to you, but YouTube would pull us down.
He's gonna be the MVP, and then the other MVP
(29:56):
in New York Aaron Judge hit fifty and fifty one.
They caught the Jays. The Yankees all of a sudden
have turned it around. They're October ready and they are
tied for first in the American League, best record right
now and have a chance to win the East.
Speaker 6 (30:11):
Well, if anybody knows about the Big dumperrige Tiger fans.
Speaker 7 (30:14):
Right now, they dumped on us.
Speaker 6 (30:16):
We have been swimming in the Big Dumper for a while.
Speaker 7 (30:20):
Yeah, So congrats to those teams.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
You guys, Like, here's the crazy thing. Five months of
being in first place.
Speaker 5 (30:26):
Five months, that is insane.
Speaker 6 (30:28):
Many weeks we were the top team in baseball. Okay,
up until four days ago. Four days ago we were
the one or two seed consistently. Four days ago, we.
Speaker 7 (30:42):
Had the division locked up. Months ago, all right, we
already got the division. Let's see the playoff seating there. Ah,
we gonna be one or two. Oh god, oh god,
Seattle's taken over over number one now. Oh we gotta
try to catch them. Now, we're just trying to stay
ahead of Houston. Amazing an amazing turn of events.
Speaker 6 (31:03):
All right, well, I think we blew past three breaks. JP.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (31:08):
It's an emotional day.
Speaker 4 (31:10):
It's an emotional that kind of day.
Speaker 6 (31:11):
Obviously, you guys, we appreciate you guys. You can rant.
I know you're probably gonna rant it us because it's
we hurt your feelings. We didn't really hurt your feelings.
Speaker 5 (31:23):
That has a lot of the chat is siding with us.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
You know.
Speaker 7 (31:26):
Jason Bennetti last night he says this team is lifeless.
Speaker 6 (31:30):
He better be careful. He better be careful. That's all
I'm gonna say.
Speaker 5 (31:36):
That's crazy.
Speaker 6 (31:37):
He'd better be careful.
Speaker 5 (31:38):
If Benetti's saying it, you know, is real. He's the
most positive.
Speaker 6 (31:43):
I'm gonna say it again, that's crazy. There is there
is nobody quite like Andy Dirks. There is nobody. There
is nobody quite.
Speaker 7 (31:51):
Wow, he's magical.
Speaker 6 (31:52):
It is.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
He didn't have any philosophical words for this.
Speaker 6 (31:54):
There was no There was no deep thoughts with Andy Dirk.
Speaker 7 (31:58):
He had a shawnism last night when he said, hey,
if they can just get a couple of hits here,
they can get back in the game.
Speaker 6 (32:05):
Do you remember when he said they were putting on
a hitting clinic. Yes, that's what he We had two
hits in a row, and he said, the tigers are
putting on a hitting clinic. Oh my god, I just
what do you do? Andy God bless you. Appreciate you.
You seem like a really good guy.
Speaker 7 (32:21):
You do.
Speaker 6 (32:22):
But there comes a time you gotta stop with that
shiny happy people shit.
Speaker 5 (32:28):
Sorry, there is broadcast Boof is collapsing.
Speaker 6 (32:31):
It doesn't mean you have to say anything, you know,
I mean, it doesn't mean that you have to pound
on them, but just kind of stop with the shiny
happy people shit. Okay, JB, where are we going?
Speaker 12 (32:43):
We gotta hear from Planet Fitness and then artin Jakes,
But first, only clear up these.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
Super chest shout out to the Chat family.
Speaker 12 (32:50):
Sending him in sean two dollars from nobody, He says,
can you explain this collapse in terms of brisket?
Speaker 6 (32:57):
That's a great Yes, I can, absolutely.
Speaker 11 (33:01):
So.
Speaker 6 (33:01):
Basically, what happens is.
Speaker 7 (33:03):
That fire that happening That was awesome.
Speaker 6 (33:06):
No, listen you you it looked good, It had a
little wiggle, and you thought you were ready to take
it off. You thought you were ready to take it off.
If you would have just waited a little while till
that bad boy got to about two to oh two.
Heaven would have been in your hands, but you took
it off early and you ruined it.
Speaker 5 (33:26):
So but don't worry, Shy. We could just marinate it
till next year.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
Yeah, we'll just marinate it till next year.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
MARRIORI.
Speaker 12 (33:34):
And we also got five dollars from Mike, he says
in twenty twenty six for Mark. Forty two years since
the nineteen eighty four Tigers won the World Series.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
This is the same drought the ninety seven Red Wings ended.
Speaker 6 (33:48):
Mike. I have said this before and I'll say it again,
and I do not like saying this, Okay, I do
not like saying this. I do not understand how the
Tigers seem mute from people talking about what a bad
franchise it's been over the last forty two years. I don't.
I don't. It doesn't. I don't get it. I really don't.
Speaker 11 (34:14):
I I.
Speaker 6 (34:20):
Feel sorry for people like you that have not seen
what I've seen, and KG and JB and my son
and ten year old kids. There are generations of fans,
people in their forties right now, that have no idea
what winning a championship is about and I don't think
enough is said about it. This has not been a
(34:41):
good franchise. Sorry, I don't like saying it. But facts
are mean. I'm not meaning. Facts aren't.
Speaker 7 (34:46):
Two championships is World War Two?
Speaker 6 (34:51):
He's right? Tell me he's wrong. Tell me what, Mike Willette.
Somebody tell Mike Willlett he's wrong. I ain't gonna be
the guy who doesn't.
Speaker 7 (35:00):
There was a saying I had with a good friend
of mine, Mike o'harram. We all know the great Mike
O'Harra for the Detroit News. Shot back in the nineties,
when the Tigers were really, really bad, we would say,
and sports rapped before the game started. The Tigers are
facing it insurmountable zero zero tie. That's how I feel tonight.
Speaker 5 (35:22):
I feel like Ernie Harwale. The Tigers stood there like
a house on the side of the road.
Speaker 6 (35:32):
Shot is hurt bad?
Speaker 7 (35:33):
God, damn.
Speaker 6 (35:34):
I should have taken the day off.
Speaker 5 (35:36):
Yeah, but I'm hurting.
Speaker 7 (35:38):
Let me pick your spirits up really quick.
Speaker 6 (35:40):
Oh, I can't wait for this go on.
Speaker 7 (35:43):
The Tigers control their own destiny. Oh fix right there, man,
They control their own destiny To make the playoffs with
four games left. If I told you that at the
beginning of the year, would you have taken it?
Speaker 1 (35:59):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (35:59):
No, answer me, answer me.
Speaker 8 (36:04):
Not knowing that they would have been leading the Central
literally the whole year, probably I wouldn't have taken.
Speaker 6 (36:09):
It, and not seeing with what we've seen the last week,
I'm just saying, no, Well, that's cool.
Speaker 7 (36:15):
We'll know who to blame wants this. If they stay
ahead of Houston, they're in the playoffs. Four games to go.
Speaker 6 (36:21):
The crazy thing. Okay, Mas, I'm gonna I'm gonna take
your craziness to the next level. Let's let's say they
control their own destiny. Let's say they get in over Houston. Okay,
they get.
Speaker 7 (36:33):
They both lose four games each.
Speaker 6 (36:36):
Okay, you know you know where we would go for
a three game series, right Cleveland?
Speaker 5 (36:44):
Come on, man, come on, man, shout out Mega hustle, three, third,
the chat.
Speaker 7 (36:51):
It's over, man, that's the three, Baby Mass, it's over.
Speaker 6 (36:53):
That's the three at Cleveland page can imagine that.
Speaker 7 (36:56):
Come on. Same as last year, so much not really
we played Houston in a while.
Speaker 6 (37:02):
These last five games have been so much fun against
us up.
Speaker 7 (37:07):
We fought it out. What Houston last year in the wildcard.
Didn't we and here we are again history.
Speaker 6 (37:13):
Pieces are Yeah, one of us are going to get
in and the other isn't correct all here said U
says to win two games, don't forget so just no,
just tyus doesn't do enough?
Speaker 7 (37:23):
Right, We have to stay ahead of them, yea, they
have to. They have to stay ahead of us.
Speaker 6 (37:28):
Because well we're going winless. So if Houston wins too,
they get.
Speaker 7 (37:31):
It, they get it. Yeah, if we go winless?
Speaker 6 (37:35):
What is this?
Speaker 2 (37:35):
If?
Speaker 13 (37:35):
Stuff?
Speaker 7 (37:36):
What is this?
Speaker 6 (37:36):
If?
Speaker 7 (37:37):
If?
Speaker 6 (37:37):
Or if? Or yeah?
Speaker 7 (37:40):
If by the way, we have to face Chris Sale.
Speaker 6 (37:44):
No, aren't anything else anything else?
Speaker 7 (37:48):
No, that's it.
Speaker 4 (37:49):

Speaker 4 (42:28):

Speaker 7 (42:28):
Cool, it's football tonight.
Speaker 6 (42:32):
You excited?
Speaker 7 (42:33):
Not really?
Speaker 4 (42:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (42:35):
You know you're gonna watch the Tigers right like you
asked me during the break here, I am. We're all
gonna watch. Yeah, we can pretend like we're not. Really
we can.
Speaker 7 (42:43):
I don't even pretend I'm gonna watch them.
Speaker 5 (42:45):
Ain't over till it's over, but just looking like it's over.
Speaker 7 (42:48):
We got a bullpen game, it's over.
Speaker 6 (42:51):
I might turn on Army in East Carolina for a
little bit. Oh, I might, because I'm a Sado massacres the.
Speaker 7 (42:57):
Black Knights in the Hudson.
Speaker 6 (42:58):
But I uh, I'll be watching the Tigers. I know
I will.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
I know I will.
Speaker 7 (43:04):
Usually this would be like a day game on a Thursday. Yeah,
but uh, it's still six forty, didn't.
Speaker 6 (43:08):
I just stretching out our misery for us. That's cool.
Speaker 7 (43:13):
Who knows? Maybe something will happen to day. I hope
you're right, Yeah, maybe something good will happen.
Speaker 6 (43:21):
The only thing good that came from the Jim Schwartz
era in my mind, was this line, hope is not
a strategy, and we got a lot of hope right now. Yeah,
we got a lot of hope right now.
Speaker 7 (43:32):
Jimmy Handshake's coming back this weekend. Yes, yes, absolutely, hopefully
they will not ride him out on their shoulders.
Speaker 6 (43:41):
It is amazing how many people suddenly are talking about
how maybe we made too big of a deal about
the coordinators leaving. No, it's amazing, really, yeah, can you
at least we never talked about it on this show.
That was like a common day occurrence, like through the
first month and a half of the show and even
(44:01):
after the first loss. I'm sorry, talent wins in the
National Football League, Sir, can a coordinator help, absolutely, no doubt.
Speaker 5 (44:09):
But when you have a team like this, don't crash
the Ferrari.
Speaker 6 (44:14):
Yep, that's that's exactly. Saint Brown and many on the
difference between Ben and Morton, What do you think.
Speaker 11 (44:25):
Is the bigges difference between uh without Like with Ben
and with Johnny.
Speaker 16 (44:29):
I think they run obviously they're just different coaches. But
I think Ben was more like conservative in the sense
of like.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
How he like talked to us, and you know that.
Speaker 14 (44:41):
When you knew when Ben was hot when he was not.
Speaker 16 (44:44):
But when Ben like installed plays, he was coaching this, bro,
no bullshit star plays. I'll be feeling buddy, cussing it out.
Speaker 14 (44:54):
Come back down to football.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
Score, touchdown, the score out of.
Speaker 16 (45:01):
Here he's smacking a god damn PowerPoint bore hard as
hell smacking that.
Speaker 4 (45:07):
I'm like, damn, bro, we're in trouble.
Speaker 14 (45:09):
But they're just different bro.
Speaker 6 (45:12):
Like.
Speaker 16 (45:13):
But but when you come to like halftime, Johnny will
he be chilling, bro, Like, he come talk to us,
like he don't be on that, he don't be yelling
like when we're in a game.
Speaker 6 (45:22):
Bro.
Speaker 14 (45:22):
So it's they different, bro. It just they got differents.
Speaker 11 (45:25):
I feel like last year too, it was like it
was more for you as a running back plays with
plays with Jamir, then plays with you. Now it's like
whoever's in is in y'all both running the play.
Speaker 7 (45:36):
Yeah, definitely, it's like that.
Speaker 16 (45:37):
It's definitely still plays with like it's tagged to one another,
but it can definitely work out more like if then
I can't work run a couple of things too.
Speaker 11 (45:46):
So.
Speaker 6 (45:48):
I get I get what they're saying, and I know
that there is a There's also is the pendulum swings. Okay,
you have the pendulum swing too much this way, and
you have all the people out there that talk about
the Lions are done because they lost two coordinators. Okay,
how many times did we deal with that? I heard
it on this show. I heard it sitting in with
(46:10):
Broder and Terry. I could cite you fifty examples. I
could talk about the Patriots, I can talk about the Cowboys,
I can talk about the Philadelphia Eagles. Until you see
it for yourself, you're just not gonna buy it. Okay,
and we're in the process of seeing it, right, Is
that fair to say? Can you at least give me that.
I'm not saying swing the pendulum all the way back over,
(46:31):
But if you were one of those guys that thought,
we can't absorb the loss of the coordinators, the pendulum's
coming back this way. But for so many the pendulum
has to swing too far that way, maybe maybe they
were holding us back. Now you know what, screw that guy.
I wish nothing good for him, But let's not also
(46:53):
try to diminish the role that he had here. Yeah,
I can go like this.
Speaker 7 (46:58):
I can.
Speaker 6 (46:59):
I don't wish anything good for him because he went
to the Bears. Sorry, you lost that right, You're not
going to be one of my favorites. You're a Bear.
That's it. Like, I don't I don't know how else
to say that. But I think, and I'm not insinuating
that these two guys were doing it by the way,
you heard what you heard. But you guys know so
many fans out there, Oh maybe Ben was holding us
(47:22):
peck pump the brakes on that Kay pump the brakes
on that they.
Speaker 5 (47:27):
Broke so many records as an offense with Ben Johnson.
It's crazy.
Speaker 6 (47:31):
It's almost like it's almost like the talent is the
one that's doing it for them.
Speaker 8 (47:36):
I know, right, But also John Morton is somebody that
is also capable. And I hate to regurgitate this line,
but I think it does mean something in context of
like what we're seeing right now.
Speaker 5 (47:48):
He was here from the beginning.
Speaker 8 (47:49):
He was in the building helping set up this offense
for Ben Johnson to be successful, and a lot of
those players knew Johnny Mo already. I think having that
famili you're already does work to his advantage. And Dan
Campbell isn't bringing people into this culture, into this locker room.
That aren't you know, forward thinking, that aren't you know,
(48:10):
gonna err on the side of the players and help
them be the best that they can be. So this
is why I had no worries personally about John Morton
coming in. On top of the fact that he has
tons of experience. He's a play caller. He's been a
play caller before. I knew this team was gonna be fine.
It just they needed an adjustment.
Speaker 7 (48:26):
Per The boss is Dan Campbell. Yep, everything goes to him.
You can call the plays, but he's got to say, okay,
go ahead and run it. He's gotta be the one
that says, yeah, you got three downs, you got two
more downs to make that five yards. Guys, it's third
and five. You got two downs to make it, so
call what you want. We're going forward on fourth down regardless.
So everything goes through Dan Campbell. As long as that
(48:48):
guy is standing on the sidelines, we are in excellent hands.
Speaker 6 (48:53):
Uh. By the way, the mystery of Jack Campbell has
been solved, right, The mystery has been solved. Jack Campbell
on the mystery of his face, probably the.
Speaker 17 (49:06):
First song and probably the whole Campbell lineage of my
family to see a plastic surgeon. So they're disappointed than that.
But yeah, they did a good job. They got fixed.
Speaker 4 (49:17):
Classic surgery explained, what did they have to take?
Speaker 17 (49:20):
No stitches, it was just it was yeah, super easy. Yeah,
I just tried to go to like a plastic surgeon.
I know it looks good, doesn't it.
Speaker 7 (49:28):
It looks good. I have no idea.
Speaker 17 (49:30):
I think I find a guess, like eight or nine.
Speaker 6 (49:35):
You said you can stick your tongue through it.
Speaker 12 (49:39):
Yeah, maybe, yeah, maybe.
Speaker 7 (49:44):
This guy reminds me of like like one of like
the Bosa guys, like like a real football player. This guy,
even his voice. I'm happy he's on our side, no.
Speaker 6 (49:55):
Doubt about that. I'm happy that we have at least
one good running back as well, because we know Jamiir
Gibbs is a really good running back. David Montgomery's bad.
He's a scrub. He's not good. He should get cut.
You guys follow it home.
Speaker 5 (50:10):
He's slow.
Speaker 6 (50:11):
He's slow.
Speaker 5 (50:11):
He's not a power runner yet. He's afraid of context.
Speaker 6 (50:15):
He just liked running people over.
Speaker 5 (50:17):
He goes out of bound Andre Swift Part two.
Speaker 6 (50:19):
Yes, he's very scared. Okay boom Jared Goff on his
running backs, it was just a.
Speaker 18 (50:28):
Shit yeah, I mean the day they got here, they really,
I mean both of them. I saw Demo from across
the field for years and in Chicago, and I was
shocked when they let him walk and then shoot, when
we landed him, it was like, holy smokes, he's got
one of the best backs in the league. And then
you draft Gibbs and it's like, wow, we got two
of the best backs in the league. And they feed
off each other. They're both obviously incredibly hard working and
(50:49):
good players, but I think the energy they kind of
feed off each other. And one of them is running well,
the other guy wants to run well too, and they're
they're as good as he gets.
Speaker 7 (50:58):
Can.
Speaker 6 (50:58):
We like like the Chicago Bears, like Ryan Poles gave
up on that guy, thanks and a.
Speaker 8 (51:06):
Q, which is dumb if you look at his Russian numbers.
All he needed was an offensive line in Chicago, Like
he was still close to a thousand with no offensive
line whatsoever.
Speaker 6 (51:16):
But he's bad. I hope he hardly touches a ball.
Speaker 7 (51:20):
On What I love is you heard the guys. You
heard the same Brown podcast. They they're intermingled. Remember how
it always these downs are only Monty, these downs are
only Gibbs. Now they're mixing and I love it. Remember
they had three backs and you heard Baldy the other
day they had the triple. I yeah, they had three
(51:41):
backs in the backfield, including the port. They split out,
of course, but you don't know what the hell's happened.
Have it your way.
Speaker 6 (51:48):
I want the bones. Just run the wishbone one time.
I just I want the bone. I just want them
the double pitch beautiful.
Speaker 7 (51:58):
That was. That was the bone.
Speaker 6 (52:00):
I was watching seriously, I was watching big football. It
made me happy. I do love the bone. Let's be honest.
I love the bone. Uh JB. We're gonna have our
boy alex E coming up talking to Michigan Football. Shout
out to Skinny Butcher. Will tell you why when we
come back and introduce Alex but JB.
Speaker 4 (52:20):
Where we gotta go here. We gotta hear from less
Stanford and then Sharon's heating in air.
Speaker 12 (52:25):
But first and he clear up this super chat. Shout
out to tem Sauce too, sending in five dollars. He said,
even the Pistons should have more Even the Pistons fans
should have more faith from fans, at least when they
have their horrible seasons. We had cave and he was
a true superstar.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
The Tigers.
Speaker 6 (52:42):
Akay, we're losing ourcade real soon we are. We're losing
arcade very soon, Cherk school will be gone. Who else
is the star on the team? Go? Don't call him
star nineteen k don't don't call, Yeah, don't come.
Speaker 5 (52:59):
I wouldn't say he's a superstar. I think Terror Schogle
is like a superstar pitcher. But Parker Riley Green is
up there, Parker, no.
Speaker 6 (53:09):
Man, Jackson, Joe, all right, go on, Mas, youre up?
Speaker 7 (53:17):
What am I up for?
Speaker 4 (53:19):
Who's your superstar?
Speaker 5 (53:21):
Never?
Speaker 7 (53:22):
I'm sorry?
Speaker 4 (53:23):
Who's your superstar? On the seat?
Speaker 7 (53:25):
Oh? I passed? I passed? You think you think? Do
you think Jack Flowerdy is gonna pick up his option?
His player option?
Speaker 2 (53:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (53:44):
Why wouldn't he?
Speaker 6 (53:47):
We all got happy for a couple of minutes. We
were talking about the Lions, and now we're back at
that thousand yards scare again.
Speaker 7 (53:53):
Just when we were out, they pulled me back in.
Speaker 6 (53:57):
Just looking into nowhere, looking in.
Speaker 7 (53:59):
I think they win today?
Speaker 4 (54:01):
Ye come all right, only kidding.
Speaker 5 (54:05):
I can't blame a game.
Speaker 6 (54:08):
Hey, pitching chaos?
Speaker 7 (54:10):
What wells last year?
Speaker 6 (54:13):
You know the thing that I forget that I think
people keep forgetting is built for October as well.
Speaker 7 (54:19):
I know.
Speaker 6 (54:19):
So all you have to do is get to October
and all the powers become released.
Speaker 7 (54:24):
If they win, if they make the playoffs, will they
have the old celebration in the locker room? Will they
pop the champagne like other teams do. Yes, they probably will. Yes,
you know what, I wouldn't blame them.
Speaker 6 (54:37):
I'm thinking about that and laughing. Guys, we we had
a historic collapse in the division. We've lost our last
ten games. But here we are built for October.
Speaker 8 (54:52):
Oh godn be grateful that you're getting this type of
baseball this late.
Speaker 6 (54:57):

That's your guy that they didn't realize that he existed
before he went to Bandy and some of us remember
him at New Mexico State and he was literally by
his lonesome and Neil and I were watching a game
one time where we were laughing at that poor little
(01:02:15):
guy running for his life and still finding a way
to make play. But they're still not gonna win the
SEC Bandy fans. I'm sorry, it's not gonna happen.
Speaker 7 (01:02:24):
I was there on Saturday Shaw on twenty nine thousand strong.

Speaker 7 (01:03:06):
I do. This is pretty cool, man. These are all
ready to go. Look at the packaging. You got three
four chicken nuggets in here, and the dip dipping sauces outstanding.
Check it out the Skinny Butcher dot com.
Speaker 6 (01:03:20):
The Buffalo sauce is like, if you're gonna call yourself
a buffalo sauce, gosh damn it, you better be a
buffalo sauce. Yes, sir, and it's a buffalo sauce.
Speaker 7 (01:03:27):
I love the logo though. I love that little butcher.
Speaker 6 (01:03:29):
Well, the thing is he's a Skinny butcher.
Speaker 7 (01:03:32):
He is.
Speaker 6 (01:03:32):
I don't know if you knew that.
Speaker 7 (01:03:33):
It's a cool dude.
Speaker 6 (01:03:34):
Alex Z kindly joining us, and as we talked about
a little bit yesterday, a weird schedule work where both
Michigan and Michigan State are off this week. It's a
pretty damn good slate on Saturday, though. Nonetheless, but before
we look forward, why don't we look back? First of all,
Alex always appreciates you, my friend. I'm interested to hear
(01:03:57):
your take. I'm interested to hear your take on the
Nebraska game. I mean, quite frankly, I think that game
played out the way that we thought it would play out.
Is that a fair statement.
Speaker 21 (01:04:07):
Yeah, I'd say simultaneously, it was a good win for Michigan,
but they also left a lot of points on the
board there. There was the whole end of the first
half with some questionable clock management, and then it's a
fluke kill Mary.
Speaker 14 (01:04:17):
You let Nebraska extend to drive.
Speaker 21 (01:04:19):
With a taunting penalty, and there were just some other
things like that throughout the game where Michigan left points
are at the board. I feel like they could have
won more, but you can't be mad about it. It's a
superhoustole environment. You have an eighteen year old quarterback and
they ran for almost three hundred yards on the ground,
So great win for Michigan overall.
Speaker 7 (01:04:36):
What was your take on Nebraska itself? Are they a
better team than they've been? Yeah, I'm sorry, come from
the big red man. Listen. Back in the day, Oklahoma
Nebraska was the matchup, and this year Michigan plays Oklahoma
(01:04:56):
at Oklahoma. They played Nebraska in Lincoln's very rare event.
It's like a leap year almost. But Nebraska, what's your
take on them? And just look ahead two weeks ago
from now when they play the Spartans.
Speaker 21 (01:05:10):
Yeah, so, Nebressa's achilles heel for this year is ultimately
gonna be their defensive line. They only have one player
who weighs over three hundred pounds on their defensive line,
which in the Big Ten, that's just not gonna fly.
You're just gonna get ran over, like Michigan was able
to do last Saturday. But I think the one the
bright spots to them is Dylan Ryle is a legit quarterback,
you know, outside of all the bagy Mahomes stuff that
you know, he claims he doesn't want to be talked
(01:05:31):
about despite him trying to completely copy him.
Speaker 14 (01:05:35):
He looked really good.
Speaker 21 (01:05:36):
I thought he played a good game he's the reason
they kept in it, and he's very composed. I thought
he's just getting een alive all day by Michigan's defensive
line and he really had no time to ever throw
or keep his composure. So I think that's a bright
spot for him or in the team. And I think
next year they could really put together a quality team.
You know, hit the portal, get some new d lineman,
maybe some new offensive line as well, and you know
(01:05:56):
they might be able to go and make a playoff
run there for the first time ever.
Speaker 7 (01:06:00):
What was your take on the Great Beff Pogi experiment.
Speaker 14 (01:06:04):
Yeah, I mean he got it done overall.
Speaker 21 (01:06:07):
You know, last week is the real task because Sharlan
Moore was in the building the week before the Central
Michigan game, but last week was on him. So I
thought the Michigan came out looking really organized, had a
really good game plan. Who knows how far in advanced
all that was playing with Serean Moore not in there her,
But I mean you couldn't really tell much of a
difference operationally or anything with him where had more. So
(01:06:28):
that's sound as good as he could ask for an
interim head coach.
Speaker 8 (01:06:32):
Alex my Dog is good to talk to you again.
And big shout out to Skinny Butcher for these crazy dippers.
Speaker 7 (01:06:37):
Man.
Speaker 8 (01:06:37):
I absolutely loved the agency and uh dippers, but.
Speaker 7 (01:06:41):
All agency that's mine. Yeah, I'm sorry.
Speaker 8 (01:06:44):
I why he wasn't looking my bad, but no, it
was a lot of things that I'm beginning to really
like about this Michigan offense. I think, you know, as
Bryce goes along, he's only gonna get better. You have
one of the best running back rooms in the country
with Justice Haynes and George Marshall. Two headed monster. They
are really three headed monster if they decide to run Bryce.
(01:07:04):
But I just the wide receiver corps really is starting
to concern me a little bit. I know we talked
about it a bit last week, but there was a
drive in which you had back to back drop touchdowns
and I felt like that was absolutely like unacceptable. What
is your take on the pass catchers for this Michigan
team going forward?
Speaker 14 (01:07:24):
Yeah, those drop touchdowns are absolutely brutal.
Speaker 21 (01:07:26):
Just some more points that Michigan left on the board
on Saturday where they could have won more.
Speaker 14 (01:07:31):
I think Michigan's at a point though, where.
Speaker 21 (01:07:33):
They kind of have a weird hierarchy going where Don
mccully's clearly the wide receiver one, but he's probably he's
probably more of a wide receiver two for a lot
of teams, but for Michigan, great wide receiver wide soever
one does it well. Smash Morgan good in the screen
name Gad just slicked better overall this year, But man,
you really need to find guys who can step up
and not only get more consistent separation.
Speaker 14 (01:07:55):
But also just make some hand catches. I don't know if.
Speaker 21 (01:07:57):
That's the thing where Bryce needs to take some heat
off it on the short passes, because that seemed to
be the cause of a lot of drops, and that's
been something that players have been talking about this year,
is how fast he throws. But hopefully Don mcculloy continues
to our eyes for them. Maybe Samas Morgan can do
more or in the game. But yeah, I feel like
if you're the Ron Bellamy, the water Seris coach, that
(01:08:17):
water Serier three slots really got to go someone who
can just catch it with their hands.
Speaker 14 (01:08:20):
And not allow to hit their body.
Speaker 21 (01:08:22):
And you know, maybe that might be playing in marsh
more different Freshman and Jamar Broader, but I mean catching
them all really isn't most important thing at that position,
and that's been something that kind of playing Michigan on Saturday.
Speaker 8 (01:08:33):
Right, and you know, we got to talk with Martin Dale.
That's been you know, it's quite the thing that we
have always discussed. This pass rush looks for real for Michigan.
They made Dylan Rayola's life a living hell, and you
saw some of that against Oklahoma as well in the
second half.
Speaker 5 (01:08:48):
Is this Michigan pass rush for real?
Speaker 14 (01:08:51):
I think it is. Yeah.
Speaker 21 (01:08:52):
I think he just moving Jason Barham to the edge
is a complete game changer, similar to when LSU lets
Harold Perkins go on the edge, or when Penn Sate
moved a.
Speaker 14 (01:09:00):
Dual carter to that edge.
Speaker 21 (01:09:01):
Just when you essentially dynamic athletic like that, just keeping
him at linebacker at the will slide is not going
to do you any good in comparison, and so I
think it's for real. The defensive line finally seemed to
take the step up, like on the interior racheon Benny
if you someone who ever has been talking about all
off season, talking about him potentially being the best defender
on this team, and he just had not disappointing showings,
(01:09:23):
but compared to the expectations people were expecting to see
more out of him so far, so it's great to
see him take the pass, the step up, and then
the coverage is pretty good overall on Saturday as well,
which helped DLin and get home. The only times that
really ever faltered, I felt, was when Wink Martin Dale
was calling over complicated play calls like that one touchdown
(01:09:43):
Nebraska had that was seemingly a wide open throw in
the middle of the field. Brandon Hillman was expected to
drop down from being an overhang defender around linebacker depth
or so to even close to the D line all
the way back to the middle third of the field,
and there's just no way you could get there, giving
Royal an easy throw. If Winke also just kind of
cleans up those type of play calls this past, Russian
(01:10:04):
be able to tee off and just eat up quarterbacks
the rest of the season.
Speaker 6 (01:10:07):
Alex, you know what I'm serious when I say this,
I really have enjoyed your perspective this year because I
think you've been not a slappy about what Michigan is,
and as you've pointed out a bunch of times, you're
talking about a true freshman quarterback. Okay, but as we
talked about Week one, I think we all expected Michigan
(01:10:29):
to go like this. We in the media are allowed
to look ahead. I know, coaches hate it, We in
the media are allowed to look ahead. I see. I'm serious.
Two potential losses the rest of the way. Are you
feeling that way? Have you looked ahead a little bit?
And honestly, I think to myself, well, they could lose
to USC and obviously Ohio State. Where are you at
(01:10:50):
in this progression of this team and are you kind
of feeling the same thing right now?
Speaker 14 (01:10:55):
Yeah? I agree.
Speaker 21 (01:10:56):
I think there's two potential losses right now on the schedule.
I think USC that can really owe either way. On
one hand, they're an explosive offense and that just leads
to a bad matchup for Michigan, especially with how good
Lincoln Rallies offenses are and how young an defensive backfield
we have. He could make it over complicated and really
exploit us. But at the same time, it is, even
(01:11:16):
though they've been better, it is a Lincoln Rally team
and those teams have been known for the past. Thing
will be ran on and dominated in the trenches and
then on the other hand, is Michigan is more.
Speaker 14 (01:11:27):
Built to compete in a track meets.
Speaker 21 (01:11:29):
So far this year, at least with the ground game,
you have an offense that is so reliant on offensive
plays that if you actually looked at the stats last
week the advanced analytics, Nebraska actually had a better EPA
for play because they were like getting more chunk plays
and like sustain the drive when Michigan was relying on
those explosives. And then yeah, O high the state. I
mean that that game can go whatever any given year.
(01:11:51):
So those are really the two losses I see on
the schedule and kind of goes along with my present
prediction of them going ten to two.
Speaker 6 (01:11:58):
I feel the same way I said it to be.
I think this is a team that's gonna go tend
into it. I think they're gonna be back in the playoff.
I really truly do. I think USC might put up
eighty four on Illinois this weekend. I'm kind of looking
forward to that watching that, I mean the number that
Indiana did. But I would be remiss if I didn't
ask you your take on Oregon going to Penn State
(01:12:19):
that that is one of the premiere games. There are
a few premiere games this weekend that I'm looking forward to.
But any thoughts on Oregon going to Crappy Valley.
Speaker 21 (01:12:29):
Yeah, I mean this has been one that I've been
thinking about mulling over all week because I can really see.
Speaker 14 (01:12:34):
It going both ways. On one hand, it's a big.
Speaker 21 (01:12:37):
Game with James Franklin coach team, which you know everyone
kind of gets it down on. On the other hand,
Oregon has not been that impressive so far when they've
played actually quality opponents or even big ten for a
team of their talent, being Northwestern by only twenty that
they should have been.
Speaker 14 (01:12:55):
On one by way more.
Speaker 21 (01:12:57):
That Oklahoma State win is just Oklahoma State's going through
right now, no other way to put it. And then
I just personally, I don't think Dreel is that good
of a quarterback.
Speaker 14 (01:13:08):
A lot of his staffs that.
Speaker 6 (01:13:10):
I love this kid, I love it would.
Speaker 14 (01:13:15):
It's just as athleticism. He's scared to make any throw
that has any risk of getting intercepted, which keeps the
turnover number low. And then it's James Franklin in a
big game.
Speaker 21 (01:13:24):
I think if Penn State does win, it will just
be because they're able to run the ball in organ
and then just Penn State's been dying for a nighttime
white out for years against a quality opponent, and sometimes
just that amoshere and crowd can take him over the
top and maybe give him some foodoo like they got
in twenty sixteen. But until proven otherwise, I gotta take
Dan lanning In, Dante more Over, James Franklin, and Drew Allen.
Speaker 6 (01:13:47):
I'm telling you, Alex, like it that is become one
of the great new bitch in college football, the next
great Penn State quarterback. I mean, we're going back to
the Hackenberg era. Remember how great that kid is. Every
year it seems like the new era apparent is gonna
set the college football world on fire. And I've literally
(01:14:08):
watched Drew Awler all this time, going, am I dumb?
I just don't see what everybody's saying. I'm not saying
he's awful. I'm not saying anything like that. But the
way you put it is perfect. There's a hype about
this guy that I I just don't get it. I
don't get it. Alex.
Speaker 21 (01:14:26):
Yeah, he had a very successful high school career, but
then again, I think a lot of the hype really
just kind of built around him having the build and kind
of meet my old roommates. He's joke about the Josh
Rosen effects where people would always say this looks like
al quarterback, like when he walks in the room, and
that's what people see out of him. So yeah, I
mean if he puts it together for them, great this Sunday.
(01:14:48):
You know, they upgrade their receiving room, they have an
experience O line. But at the in the meantime, I mean,
we just Penn State hasn't won one of these big
games outside well, they did have a good run in
the playoff last year and given they had a much
easier route to the semi finals playing SMU at home
than Boise. Say, but weacently see him be one of
these true big dogs of college football when we haven't yet.
Speaker 6 (01:15:11):
Alex, great stuff, dude, and we appreciate Skinny Butcher. These
things are outstanding. Really appreciate you. Uh you bring it
every week and I'm serious when I say that, always
look forward to talk to some college football with you.
Appreciate it greatly.
Speaker 7 (01:15:25):
Thanks, Alex.
Speaker 6 (01:15:29):
Can I say something very quickly and I know I'm
going into yesteryear, but mas you referenced it. I don't
think people understand how phenomenal what a brand Nebraska was
during the Osbourne era. And and and I say this
all the time. I don't know if we've had this conversation.
(01:15:49):
I'm I'm fortunate to be a Heisman Trophy voter. I
have been for many years. So like I've watched a
lot of college football, and I've loved college football openly
to a minute more than the NFL like a vast
majority of my life. The best college football team, single
year I've ever seen is the nineteen ninety five Nebraska
cornhuskerszing They they didn't beat you, they demolished Paul Can
(01:16:14):
I can? I can I bore you for just a second.
Speaker 7 (01:16:17):
Please bring me back KG.
Speaker 6 (01:16:18):
I want you to. I want you to listen to this.
Speaker 7 (01:16:19):
Soe years ago, Sean.
Speaker 6 (01:16:21):
Here are there, Here are there? Here are their games.
They beat Oklahoma State sixty four to twenty one. They
beat Nick Saban and Michigan State in east Land it
saying fifty to ten. They beat Arizona State seventy seven
to twenty eight. They beat Pacific forty nine to seven.
They beat Washington State thirty five to twenty one. Remember
(01:16:42):
that a fourteen point win. Just remember that for a second.
They beat Missouri fifty seven to nothing. They beat number
eight k State forty nine to twenty five. They beat
number seven Colorado forty four to twenty one. They beat
Iowa State seventy three to fourteen. They beat number ten
Kansas forty one to three at at Kansas, by the way,
(01:17:04):
they beat Oklahoma thirty seven to nothing. And in the
national championship game, Uh, they beat Florida sixty two to
twenty four. And it wasn't that close. It was really legitimately,
it wasn't that close.
Speaker 7 (01:17:16):
Refreshed by memory on the QB.
Speaker 6 (01:17:18):
Wasn't that Danny Wirfel with Florida Or are you talking
about Nebraska and Tommy Fraser?
Speaker 7 (01:17:23):
I said that Tommy Fraser was out.
Speaker 6 (01:17:27):
And they had three running backs that would run you over,
and Lawrence Phillips might run you over in his.
Speaker 7 (01:17:31):
Car he did so.
Speaker 6 (01:17:32):
Yeah, So they were that jail. That team was an
absolute machine.
Speaker 7 (01:17:38):
That Nebraska Oklahoma.
Speaker 6 (01:17:40):
Man, it's it's the best college football team I've ever seen.
I mean, no disrespect to all the champions out there,
including Michigan that won a couple of championships in that time.
That team wasn't me. I don't think people understand, like,
how good Nebraska?
Speaker 7 (01:17:53):
Why did they fall? Because they fell like fell.
Speaker 6 (01:17:59):
A lot of people think it was like Bo Polini
was a step down, but getting rid of Ba Polini
was was the start of their fall. And then if
you remember they hired the hired Callahan from the Raiders,
do you remember that? Or and that was a debacle.
They've made a lot of bad choices and it just starts.
And now you sit back, and now you sit back
and you say, Soulis was the one that I think
(01:18:22):
a lot of people thought, why'd you get rid of him?
And then it was Bo Polini and and then you
made some bad choices. But but in today's Daan era,
I'm why would you go to Lincoln, Nebraska? That's part
of it. It is, I'm sorry, as crazy as that
talent is.
Speaker 7 (01:18:38):
Their own team. Yeah, that's it. They don't have anything
else except corn.
Speaker 6 (01:18:42):
As crazy, as crazy as that is, I mean, that's
that's where we're at.
Speaker 7 (01:18:47):
Nebraska Oklahoma, guys, was the game, but bigger than Michigan
Ohio State back in the seventies. Maybe maybe that was close.
Speaker 6 (01:18:58):
Yeah, that that decade is really what that was what
put Michigan Ohio state. I think got the math.
Speaker 7 (01:19:05):
You know, they kind of took over for Nebraska.
Speaker 6 (01:19:07):
Ten year war. You know, the whole bow and Woody
angle that was, that's when it kind of took over.
But all right, great stuff. I appreciate Alex and I
felt that way. I'm so glad to hear him say
that about Drew Aller. I don't get it.
Speaker 7 (01:19:21):
I don't Maybe this is his coming out part.
Speaker 6 (01:19:23):
I'm not saying he's awful. I'm not like anything like that,
but he's been put on this pedestal. I I don't
get it.
Speaker 7 (01:19:30):
He was gonna be a first round pick last year
if he came out.
Speaker 6 (01:19:32):
Of course he was.
Speaker 7 (01:19:34):
Yeah, because you're a quarterback and that's what they do.
Speaker 6 (01:19:36):
Yep. So how many people watched the Ravens Lions game?
Did you guys?
Speaker 5 (01:19:43):
See those numbers?
Speaker 6 (01:19:45):
Absolutely nuts. We'll get into that when we come back.
How about when we come back, JB. Yeah, that was
the commercial transition. That was at least pretend like we're
going to try to be on time today. Okay, that's

Sports all day. We got you covered. But so, how
big was the Lions Ravens game? Have you guys seen
this yet?
Speaker 7 (01:25:29):
Big big numbers?
Speaker 6 (01:25:30):
Take a look at these numbers. Twenty two point eight million.
Speaker 7 (01:25:38):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (01:25:41):
It is one of the network's foremost watched Monday Net
Football games ever and for week three, the most watched
NFL game Waite the Lions Buccaneers in a few weeks.
Speaker 7 (01:25:54):
That might bust it.
Speaker 6 (01:25:55):
You, guys. I'm gonna say this, I really truly tone
think that we as a fan base realize the national
brand that the Lions are now. I really don't. I
don't think us around here, I don't think we get it.
How come we keep having incredible numbers like that. Huh.
And I mean, how many times have you run into
(01:26:18):
somebody you guys, even in the chat. I'm not just
talking about us. Where you're someplace exotic? Hey, man, where
are you from? I'm from Detroit, Oh dude. I watched
the Lions every Thanksgiving? I mean, seriously, how many times
does somebody say that to you?
Speaker 7 (01:26:33):
I wear Lions gear and I got stopped and I
you know, I was in Nashville the airport, people coming
up to me manting, we're rooting for your team. Man,
I can't believe that they lost last year. We were
all rooting for him. I don't think there's a person
that were root against the Detroit Lions. How could you?
Speaker 6 (01:26:50):
I was at Man's I think I told you. I
was at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. Whoo on a
ninety seven degree day. I mean it was miserable, absolute miserable.
And I was wearing my Lions hat and three different
dudes came up to me and said, oh, you're a
Lions fan. Are you from Detroit? And then proceeded to
say either something about the Lions, and two out of
(01:27:12):
three made a reference to well, that's my family's Thanksgiving tradition.
We would always watch the Lions for years, and of
course being the Ysacre and I'm like, I'm sorry to
hear that, but you know, I mean that it is
what it is, and things are different now and I
think we can all look back and joke about it now.
ESPN felt the need to explain to us why the
(01:27:34):
Lions moved up to number three on their Wacky z
any Little Power rankings as well.
Speaker 7 (01:27:39):
Yeah, here it is. They talk about the coordinators. Can
we put the coordinator talk to basically.
Speaker 6 (01:27:46):
I think we can bury any coordinator concerns about John
Morton Kelvin Sheppard here and now wait a second, hold on.
Speaker 5 (01:27:54):
I was told all off season.
Speaker 6 (01:27:56):
The Lions were tougher, smarter, and better on Monday, repeatedly
coming up with clutch plays in a hostile road environment.
The Lions delivered the first punch. The Ravens countered, landing
a few haymakers too, but Detroit never came close to
shriveling up, playing exceptional three phase football and essentially beating
(01:28:16):
the Ravens at their own game. Four rushing touchdowns in Baltimore,
seven sacks of Lamar Jackson, three for three on fourth
down elevated stuff born out of coaching in preparation. Wait
a second, there were a dozen players I could highlight,
but please out of respect to Morton and Shepherd, who
each called a brilliant game in the Monday night Football spotlight,
(01:28:37):
can we now end the Ben Johnson Aaron Glenn questions
that narrative is dead. The narrative shouldn't have existed. Sorry,
that's all they had. It was bad and there were
a lot of people in this fan base who who
fell for it, hook Line and Sinker, who I know
I argued with, especially doing the show with Broder and
(01:28:59):
Terry in the summer when I would sit in with
them and like, honestly, I know it sounds condescending, and
I apologize because I try not to be condescending, you know,
to football, like the New England Patriots all those years,
all the guys they left the next great great head
coach from the Belichick tree, right and they just kept rolling?
(01:29:21):
Why why how could they do that? Right? Like you guys,
Talent wins the Cowboys the Eagles like talent wins, and
we've got a roster full of talent. Period. End of story.
Now here's the thing. Can I go back to this.
(01:29:42):
The narrative is dead. You know as well as I do.
The next game they lose, we're gonna hear it, of course,
you know as well as it. There are going to
be people in the chat. KG. You're my dog, I
love you. But man, this was the game that you
screwed up that defense. You know, because KG he the
shepherd of the same guy out all that stuff. Okay,
(01:30:04):
you screwed up that. It's not like it. It should
be dead. But it's gonna come back, I promise you.
The next time we lose again, god forbid, we lose
the game against Tampa, who I'm gonna say again the
same thing I said last year. Okay, I think people
sleep on that team, and I think they sleep on
Baker like they shouldn't anymore. Like last year, it was
(01:30:25):
more of a surprise. I don't like Baker Mayfield has
turned into a damn good quarterback. Dare I say? I
like Baker Mayfield And if you told me that a
couple of years ago, I thought he was the douche
of douches like that. Like literally, I kind of like
watching Baker play. I do now again when he's playing
against the Lions, boo his boo, not the David Montgomery
(01:30:46):
boo his boo, the real boo his boo. Okay, but
mark my words, it's gonna have You're gonna You're gonna
see people. You guys are slap dicks trying to say
that Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson work going to hurt
this team. It's gonna come up again. Let's just all
sutter a watch, do it.
Speaker 7 (01:31:04):
No doubt. This week they play the top ranked defense
so far through three weeks in the d A Folis,
the Cleveland Browns, and their defense is run by none
other than Jimmy handshake Jim Schwartz, who I loved by
the way I did. I really really liked him, and
I think he still could be a head coach, but
defensive coordinator again. They got a lot of talent, including
(01:31:27):
Miles Garrett on that defense, but they have not faced
an offense like the Lions yet. I think the Lions
will score enough points and keep Cleveland at bay. I
don't think Cleveland could score more than ten against this
Lions defense the way they're playing.
Speaker 6 (01:31:41):
The man had a fit of rage in front of
millions of people on a Thanksgiving Day and through a
challenge flag, knowing full well that he was bleeping his
team like that that happened, and he didn't he like Black,
admitting after the game, I fully realized that I hurt
(01:32:03):
my team by throwing that challenge.
Speaker 7 (01:32:05):
For geez, yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:32:07):
Cool, that's that's cool. That's those are things. They don't
happen to other franchises, and they used to happen to
us with regularity. It's amazing what happens when you get
competent people in place, isn't.
Speaker 7 (01:32:17):
It Thanksgiving Days?
Speaker 6 (01:32:20):
It's it's amazing what happens when you get competent people
in place.
Speaker 7 (01:32:23):
This team was born on the Thanksgiving Day game when
the Texans buried US a few years ago during COVID,
and you saw Sheila up in the press box like this,
and then the next day she pulled the trigger. Yeah,
that was that's the That's when they were born.
Speaker 6 (01:32:40):
Were you part Were you part of the were you
part of the presser? Remember we had the zoom presser.
We like I kid you not, we had that's that's
what we had to have a zoom presser. Because that
was November, as you mentioned, November twenty and so what
happened is the pr team sent out like the link,
and if I'm not mistaken, I think it was twelve.
(01:33:00):
I think the presser was twelve, and so you were.
It was so it was so bizarre. That whole era,
to me is just like one day, one day we
have to have like a civil conversation about the craziness
of that two year span. We really did amazing. It was.
It was there were batshit crazy things going on.
Speaker 7 (01:33:15):
Big people in the stands.
Speaker 6 (01:33:17):
There were there were there were just batshit crazy things
going on for about two years. Right, you know you're
going the wrong way in the market. Do you remember that?
Speaker 7 (01:33:27):
Oh? God, yeah, you're just you're you know what I mean.
Speaker 6 (01:33:31):
Like I'm six feet I am in a daze. I
am in a daze most of the time. Okay, And
I've admitted this to you guys. My happy place is
the grocery store.
Speaker 7 (01:33:39):
I love it.
Speaker 8 (01:33:39):
I love going I love going to the grocery.
Speaker 6 (01:33:44):
I am going to I will be in my favorite
grocery store at eleven thirty this morning, Okay. And I like,
I'm why as I erect over it, Okay, Like that's
how that's how excited, that's how exciting all I do
it all the time. Yeah, and like so when we
when somebody needs to go shopping, it's me. I love
that's me. But you know, you're yeah like that.
Speaker 7 (01:34:05):
The music is great and all music.
Speaker 6 (01:34:08):
All some Karen would run up to you, but not
up in your face, of course, she would run up
to you and go, what do you think you're doing?
Shop it? Don't you see those arrows? You're going the
wrong way. That happened.
Speaker 8 (01:34:23):
Also, people were fighting for tissue, like like COVID was
gonna take away all the tissue.
Speaker 6 (01:34:30):
Was the first thing that but man, as you're right,
so we we They sent us a link. We got
a link and and like you knew what the press
conference was, you knew, but we got a link and
and and there were all the faces that you usually
see in person up on this stupid link. Oh gosh,
what a what a weird weird time?
Speaker 7 (01:34:50):
Was that something?
Speaker 6 (01:34:51):
But you you're right, that was yeah, that was it?
Speaker 7 (01:34:54):
Thanksgiving?
Speaker 6 (01:34:55):
That was it?
Speaker 7 (01:34:56):
Thank you? That picture, yeah, fabulous picture. But no owner
has done that with the lions. No that she thank you. Sheila,
she'd had enough. She's like dad, mom, brother, I'm sorry,
it's over.
Speaker 6 (01:35:15):
And let's be honest. When I look back to that time.
It happened quicker with this team than I thought it would,
because I remember I was working here and there were
a lot of slap dicks that were like, oh, man,
I think we're better than we thought, and it was like, no,
by design, we were going to be really bad in
twenty twenty one. By design, we were going to be bad.
(01:35:36):
And I didn't have a problem.
Speaker 8 (01:35:36):
With It's like the Tigers from fourteen to fifteen, what
fat Ep did to this franchise. They were supposed to
be set back at least five years, right, Thankfully, you
got competent people in here that turned this shit around
into two years.
Speaker 6 (01:35:48):
Man, you got easily. You got the two picks from
the Rams, and then you knew we were gonna get
high picks. And then that second year, the pick from
the Rams was even higher than we thought, which was unbelievable. Conversely,
our pick was higher than we thought.
Speaker 7 (01:36:03):
That's true.
Speaker 6 (01:36:04):
We like, seriously, we we went nine eight, and yet
we still got a high draft pick from from the Rams.
Speaker 8 (01:36:10):
But all of that doesn't matter if you don't have
the right guy draft in the That wasn't Martin in there,
it wasn't you know, put.
Speaker 5 (01:36:17):
GM name here.
Speaker 8 (01:36:18):
That was Brad Holmes in there cooking this ship up
and getting cornerstone pieces that helped you in year two.
These cornerstone pieces got you to an NFC championship.
Speaker 6 (01:36:27):
The picks don't matter if you blow them. Yeah, we
can talk about how great the picks are, but if
you blow the picks, they don't matter.
Speaker 8 (01:36:34):
Look at our second round streak or curse that we
used to have, ridiculous, bro.
Speaker 5 (01:36:39):
Now we get Sam Laporta is in the second round. Right,
it's a great it's a great sight.
Speaker 7 (01:36:42):
Let me throw something out at you, guys. I'm not
gonna sidetrack you, but I'll throw it out.
Speaker 6 (01:36:48):
Does it have anything to do with justice? Sometimes justice
just walks in the room.
Speaker 7 (01:36:54):
And three letters? Anyway, what I was gonna say, and
I want to say it earlier when we were talking
about the type you guys mentioned trading Schooble, Will that
be the Matthew Stafford deal for the Tigers? Can it
be the Matthew Stafford deal for the Tigers? Trading your
(01:37:16):
top guy and hopefully getting not draft picks, but actual
players that have place. Sehn, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I know.
Speaker 6 (01:37:29):
Do you know what the difference is, though, Can I
tell you what the difference is football? You you have,
you have an eighteen or nineteen year old kid that
you're going to get for that right.
Speaker 7 (01:37:40):
No, No, I want talent.
Speaker 6 (01:37:42):
You want talent.
Speaker 7 (01:37:42):
I want major league talent. I don't want guys that
are in the minors. I want if you're going to
trade schoolb I want guys because this ain't the NFL. Well,
you can just NFL draft and the players play right away.
Baseball don't happen.
Speaker 6 (01:38:00):
Though, buyers buyers in Major League Baseball, buyers are usually
the ones that say, well, look at our Kuchi Kuchie coos,
and we know what you're trying to do, so I don't.
I don't know if we're gonna get like the strong
known for it, if that makes sense.
Speaker 5 (01:38:14):
I feel you in the off season. I feel like
you're more like I agree with to do. Yes, it's
supposed to do.
Speaker 6 (01:38:20):
Yeah, it's it's less of that. Yeah, it's less of that.
Speaker 7 (01:38:23):
Well, you call the Dodgers with their riches, and they'd
want schoobl You call the Mets, what a four hundred
million dollars payroll, they'd want an ace. Yes, players out
there on those teams that you can get and put
on this team right away, and you've got yourself a
major League Baseball team, then you bring your young guys up.
Speaker 6 (01:38:47):
That's where I mean, that's that's where we're at.
Speaker 7 (01:38:49):
Though.
Speaker 6 (01:38:50):
I hope you understand that at least with when you're
getting those picks from the Rams, you're getting a guy
that you know he's going to be a rookie. Just
just if you start with don't exp back much from
a rookie, you won't be let down, right, I mean,
that's the good starting point. And sometimes they surprise you,
there's no doubt about that. But more often than not,
you're you're talking about those picks and you're talking about
(01:39:10):
something that if they pan out, maybe you see this
guy two three years from now.
Speaker 7 (01:39:15):
Yeah, you know what I mean.
Speaker 6 (01:39:16):
And that's that's in a perfect world, though, Maz, I
think it would be like you said, I'm not gonna
sit here and guarantee that he's traded in the off season.
But if if what I heard from a really good
source is true, I know they are actively going to
try to shop him once November hits. Listen, you might
(01:39:37):
not have a buyer, but I know I know that's
their plan.
Speaker 7 (01:39:40):
I was on board last year when the Orioles were
out there trying to make a big playoff run. I
was like, trade up to the Orioles. Now get their guys,
Get the guys that have been coming up, Get Jackson Holiday,
get all these guys. And they haven't done anything yet.
Those guys, by the.
Speaker 6 (01:39:55):
Way, they hold on, Hold on just a second. Yes,
are you insinuating that you can plan for years like
the Chicago White Sox, who surely we're going to own
the decade of the twenties, and the Orioles and the
Baltimore Orioles. It wasn't a question of just winning eight championship.
It was winning multiple championship with their embarrassment of.
Speaker 7 (01:40:17):
Riches MVPs they got.
Speaker 6 (01:40:18):
Are you saying that could go down the drain?
Speaker 5 (01:40:21):
It can work?
Speaker 7 (01:40:22):
It can, Okay, I just yeah, it can.
Speaker 6 (01:40:27):
I hope I hope that that's not the case here.
I hope that it's not the case that we saw
circa twenty seventeen to twenty twenty two hashtag Detroit Roots.
I hope that's not the case. I hope that this
guy is indeed the smartest man in the room.
Speaker 7 (01:40:44):
Max Clark better be better than Wyatt Langford. I hope it's
all I got to say.
Speaker 6 (01:40:49):
I hope that he is the smartest man in the room,
and I hope that he learns from a brutal As
far as I'm concerned to failed trade deadlines, Eduardo was
a fail. Admit it, and we'll all move on. Eduardo
was a failed. You cannot be caught in that position.
And this trade deadline as good as Finnigan was. Okay,
(01:41:11):
fifteen and a third inning from Finnigan, eighty two winnings
of Pooh from Mortin and Paddock. One guy was flat
out cut. The other guy was demoted. Like you guys,
I don't care who you are. You could be Scott
Harris's mother. Okay, that's not good. So now all of
a sudden, I'm sitting back going Okay, I pray to
(01:41:33):
God that this isn't the same scenario playing itself out.
And I'm not gonna say it's the same scenario playing
itself out. But again, you guys were kind of back
to that point. Forget about the moves we made, Forget
about the Verlander trade, forget about the Castianos trade, forget
about the JD. Martinez mishandling, forget about all that. Okay,
(01:41:56):
wait till you see this, KG. I'm telling you, you guys,
you're gonna forget all about those guys franchise changing. So again,
I'm not KG. I can't stress this enough. I cannot
say that this is going to be a fail. What
I can say definitively is many people out there, yours
truly included, are sick and tired of that talk. I
(01:42:19):
don't want to hear about next anymore. I want to
see next.
Speaker 5 (01:42:22):
Yeah, I'm also tired of Oh, we will.
Speaker 8 (01:42:25):
Spend when the time is right, we will chase bigger
names when I'm able to chase bigger names.
Speaker 5 (01:42:31):
It is what it is.
Speaker 8 (01:42:32):
Like I said, we don't need you to be the Mets,
we don't need you to be the Dodgers. But there
is absolutely no reason why you can't spend a little
more money on this team, and you don't need to
apply that money to people like Alex Kyle. Let's go
out there and get some real talent that have helped
these facilitate these young players, and let's go chase this
damn thing.
Speaker 5 (01:42:50):
Man, it's ridiculous. But if you were to trade Schoobo, though,
you cannot fuck that up. I will say that they will.
You cannot fuck that up.
Speaker 4 (01:42:58):
They will.
Speaker 6 (01:43:01):
How could you argue with JB? Right now, I'm not
being funny. How could you argue with JB?
Speaker 7 (01:43:05):
Can't?
Speaker 5 (01:43:05):
You can't? I have no faith at this point.
Speaker 6 (01:43:10):
All right, JB? Where are we going? Of course, we

nobody sending in five dollars?
Speaker 7 (01:43:36):
He said.

The Lions brand is those perfect colors. The second you
put on an old school Lions jacket, your swag raises tenfold.

Speaker 6 (01:43:47):

a brand than we think we are. The Detroit Lions
are more of a brand than we think we are
honestly actually use it. Yes, yes, no doubt about posey.
Speaker 7 (01:44:01):

Speaker 5 (01:44:02):

more stadium eats for you, Sean. This one is a

they have some moores loaded in fries, Okay, so you
(01:49:11):
got sweet potato fries topped with chocolate hazel nut drizzle,
no toasted marshmallow and Graham cracker crumbles.
Speaker 6 (01:49:18):
No, that don't sound horrible, but no, I'm not a sweet.
Speaker 5 (01:49:23):
Potato fry out.
Speaker 6 (01:49:24):
Really though, I can't do it. I can't see if
if if you, if you like that reminds me of poutine,
Like if you gave me a big giant poutine platter,
that's something different.
Speaker 7 (01:49:36):
Love that.
Speaker 6 (01:49:36):
But like JB, you're talking, I'm just not sweets guy.
I'm just yeah, I'm just not sweets guy. I'm not
I'm not sweet s guy. So I'm not in on
that one.
Speaker 7 (01:49:45):
Have you seen have you followed the Colts owner Carrie
uh Orsa?
Speaker 6 (01:49:49):
How can you miss?
Speaker 22 (01:49:50):
Right?
Speaker 7 (01:49:50):
I mean, she's had every practice I know she is.
They leave her alone. She looks like she does what
the hell she's doing?
Speaker 6 (01:49:58):
Of course she does, she is.
Speaker 7 (01:50:00):
I don't know. It's odd.
Speaker 6 (01:50:02):
Now, I see I'm not in with that. I can't.
I can't do that one. I can't now if you
gave me a big, giant like bowl of poutine. I'm
in with the cheese curds and and the and the
good gravy and everything that's delicious. I'm not see you
know you guys know me. I'm just not sweets guy.
Speaker 7 (01:50:23):
Make sure you do. You ever have French fries with
melted mazzarell and gravy on top. That's what we did
in Jersey. We call him disco fries. They're outstanding. French fries,
brown gravy topre cheese, outstanding. Like that's poutine to the max. Hm,
(01:50:44):
I can go for it right now, to TikTok, I.
Speaker 6 (01:50:46):
Could destroy destroy that, see that that. I I would
go to Montreal and just get a big bowl of
poutine and I'll tell you what you need to take
a bowel movement. You eat a big bowl of poutine
shipping all day, I promise you, and it's worth it.
It's not the same, I'm telling you, no, it's not this.
(01:51:06):
I don't know what they're missing. Maybe maybe it's the combination,
like you use a little you use a little beef gravy,
use a little chicken gravy. It's not it's not that.
It's not the same. To me, it really isn't.
Speaker 7 (01:51:17):
We can't go to South Detroit.
Speaker 6 (01:51:18):
There are different there are different variations. Toronto has their
own variation, but like the original ploutine is from Quebec
and it's phenomenal. It really is. It's phenomenal.
Speaker 12 (01:51:29):
I wish well I got something else for you, guys.
Shout out to our Detroit Lions for taking bill to
ask to the Ravens on Monday. And I don't know
if this guy is okay, but he tried the Monday
Night Football first down challenge. So every first down, this
man a whole wing for every first down. And he
(01:51:55):
that came across on Monday night football for both teams
are just the Lions for both teams.
Speaker 5 (01:52:00):
Oh you crazy fuck?
Speaker 6 (01:52:01):
How many wings did it end up being?
Speaker 4 (01:52:05):
I think they say at the end. I want to
say it was around.
Speaker 5 (01:52:07):
Forteen down already, Jesus, like sixty Jesus Christ.
Speaker 7 (01:52:12):
I can't be sixty first downs.
Speaker 6 (01:52:14):
He was thrown up all right now. I gotta look
at it. Drinking too, Yeah, keep your all right, you guys.
Speaker 4 (01:52:22):
He's at thirty right now.
Speaker 5 (01:52:24):
Holy crap, bro, he's drinking ranch.
Speaker 4 (01:52:27):
You know it's bad even mixing, you know, with some
blue cheese and some ranch.
Speaker 7 (01:52:30):
Yeah, yo, up, for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:52:31):
I love weeds, but eat forty one.
Speaker 5 (01:52:35):
Jesus Christ.
Speaker 4 (01:52:38):
He's a Bears fan, by the way, just so you know, so.
Speaker 12 (01:52:41):
He's dumb oh oh in the bathroom.
Speaker 4 (01:52:47):
Shortly after that, but.
Speaker 12 (01:52:48):
Twenty nine seconds left, I'm done, crapped out, I'm out coached,
I'm out.
Speaker 5 (01:52:55):
He crapped out.
Speaker 6 (01:52:56):
Okay, you guys, forty five there were forty five, forty.
Speaker 7 (01:53:02):
Five, forty five wings. Jesus, that's not bad.
Speaker 6 (01:53:05):
No problem, no problem, nope, nope for me, no problem.
Speaker 5 (01:53:10):
You get down forty five wings, no problem.
Speaker 6 (01:53:12):
When we go. When we went to B Dubs last week,
the kid and I put down twenty, no problems.
Speaker 5 (01:53:17):
Yeah, twenty is different, boneless. These were whole wings though.
These aren't like just regular wings.
Speaker 7 (01:53:24):
These are whole wings, right, yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:53:26):
And those are huge.
Speaker 7 (01:53:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:53:28):
Those are from wingstops too, by the way, Yeah those
are huge. Wing stop those are wingstop wings to.
Speaker 7 (01:53:33):
Those are good, yeah, are but too many.
Speaker 5 (01:53:36):
I couldn't eat see those.
Speaker 6 (01:53:38):
If you're talking, listen, if you're talking forty five of
the B Dubs variety, I could do it, maybe, Yeah, yeah,
I could do it. I know I could that though,
those big thick wings. Now that you show it again,
I get say. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:53:50):
No, he made it to forty one. That's impressive.
Speaker 7 (01:53:52):
You like the drumsticks, so do you like the what
do you call them?
Speaker 6 (01:53:56):
The flats? The flats both a drum I don't. I
don't discriminate in any way, shape or form, but I do.
I'm one of those guys. I knew blue cheese with it,
I do. I like, Yes, yeah, I do.
Speaker 5 (01:54:08):
I got to be in the move for it, but
I like it.
Speaker 7 (01:54:09):
I want the chunky, need celery with it too, Yes,
I need the celery.
Speaker 2 (01:54:16):
Dude.
Speaker 6 (01:54:17):
Those are huge wings. No way, those are huge wings. Like,
those are huge wings. No way nowhere beat up beat
up variety, I no.
Speaker 7 (01:54:33):
Doubt my mind, there's hardly any meat up. I love them.
Speaker 6 (01:54:37):
Be dub variety. I could do it. But those are
huge wings.
Speaker 2 (01:54:40):
No way.
Speaker 7 (01:54:41):
I got mega points that beat ups. By the way,
if you want to cast them in one of these.
Speaker 6 (01:54:45):
Days, that sounds good. That sounds good.
Speaker 12 (01:54:50):
And finally I will. And what's treading with this? I
got a challenge for you, Sean, Can you shoot from
the logo when you're on the grill?
Speaker 6 (01:55:05):
That's fire, that's awesome. No way, he's on fire.
Speaker 4 (01:55:12):
Damn.
Speaker 7 (01:55:14):
See.
Speaker 6 (01:55:14):
We all have our different skill sets, Like that's a
phenomenal skill set. My buddies laugh at me and they're like,
how do you know when ship's done? And and and

I don't need like when things are on the grill,
I don't need a temperature get you just look at it.
You look at a burger, you look at a sausage.

You just I don't know how to explain it. You
just do. You just do. I couldn't do that, though, No,
when you dude, good for you. Those look like those
pre made patties though, so I'm I'm you know, they
kind of give you a hockey puck and you're like, Okay,

the back of the truck.
