(00:10):
Hey everyone, I'm back with another update.
In this episode I'll cover the Russia Ukraine conflict, illegal
immigration related news, nominations and confirmations,
redistricting, and department news.
Of course, I'll end with the noteworthy tidbits starting with
the Russia Ukraine conflict. President Trump said he was
informed that almost 20,000 Russian soldiers died over the
past month and around 112.5000 total have died since the

(00:33):
beginning of the year. As for Ukraine, approximately
8000 soldiers have died since the beginning of the year, and
that number does not include those missing.
The deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian
Federation, a former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev,
commented about Russia being able to nuke the US at any time.
In response, President Trump andthe Pentagon deployed 2 nuclear

(00:55):
submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, with
Trump explaining just in case. These foolish and inflammatory
statements are more than just that, and I do that on the basis
of safety for our people. On to illegal immigration
relatedness. Florida has deputized 3000 local
police officers and state troopers as immigration
enforcement officers to help ICEand DHS and aliens at Alligator

(01:17):
Alcatraz reached their 11th day of a hunger strike yesterday.
A judge blocked the Trump administration from removing
temporary legal status for 60,000 immigrants nationwide,
and police officers in Colorado are being disciplined for
assisting ICE and finding criminal illegal aliens.
The Trump administration hit thelowest ever amount of migrant
apprehensions at the southern border for July 2025, and 0

(01:39):
people have crossed the border illegally in three months.
Let's switch to nominations and confirmations.
Despite President Trump's calls for the Senate to stay in
session, the Senate left for recess and will not return until
September. Senate Majority Leader John
Thune negotiated with Democrats to get a few nominees through
before heading to recess, and the Senate did stay through the

(01:59):
weekend but left quite the backlog.
Trump thanked the Republican senators for fighting to get his
appointments approved and rantedabout Senator Chuck Schumer
demanding $1 billion to approve a small number of nominees.
Senator Kennedy confirmed that Senate Democrats tried to get
Trump and Republicans to make spending concessions in exchange
for nominees, and Senator Mike Lee drafted a resolution to

(02:21):
adjourn the Senate and allow Trump to make recess
appointments. Leader Thune said there will be
no recess appointments for Trump, and the US Senate will
hold pro forma sessions every three days to prevent President
Trump from making recess appointments through the
beginning of September. Before leaving for recess, the
US Senate voted on 13 nominees with a few confirmations.

(02:42):
Jason Reading Quinones was confirmed as US attorney for the
Southern District of Florida andSean Cairncross was confirmed as
national cyber director. President Trump swore in Janine
Piro as US attorney for DC and Emile.
Both will be taking SCOTUS Justice Samuel Alito's former
seat on the 3rd Circuit Court ofAppeals shifting to the Federal

(03:02):
Reserve. Federal Reserve Governor Waller
said he dissented from Jerome Powell and the board's decision
not to cut interest rates because it is inconsistent with
the Fed's policy to cut rates based on all data available.
President Trump demanded the Reserve Board assume control if
Powell refuses to lower interestrates and Federal Reserve
Governor Coogler resigned. Trump called for Powell to

(03:24):
resign as well, and if he does so, Trump can then appoint both
a new Fed governor and a new Fedchairman.
Trump said he'll be announcing Coogler's replacement likely in
the next couple of days, and he and Treasury Secretary Scott
Besant are working on a list of replacements for Powell.
Let's move on to redistricting. The Supreme Court is considering
ending race based districts and New Hampshire is considering

(03:45):
redistricting the state to add aRepublican seat to Congress.
The Texas House Redistricting Committee passed the new map
that adds up to five Republican U.S.
House seats for 2026, and now the Texas House needs to vote on
it. There's a little problem with
that, however, since 51 Texas Democrats have fled the state to
break quorum. Since the necessary 2/3 needed

(04:06):
to conduct business are not present, the vote is stalled.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton vowed to have them
arrested, saying we should use every tool at our disposal to
hunt down those who think they are above the law.
Democrats in the Texas House whotry and run away like cowards
should be found arrested and brought back to the capital
immediately. A call of the House was issued
by the Texas House of Representatives, which allows

(04:29):
Texas House Speaker Dustin Burroughs to issue civil arrest
warrants for absentee members. But the warrants are only good
for the state of Texas. Paxton and many others are
accusing those who fled of dereliction of duty.
They have to return home eventually, though, and may face
arrest at that time. I find it necessary to point out
that redistricting doesn't simply add five Republican

(04:49):
seats. It also causes Democrats to lose
their seats. Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett,
for example, would lose her seatin the redistricting and to stay
in Congress she would have to move and get elected by her new
voter base. Switching to Department News,
the Health and Human Services Department terminated a federal
policy that financially rewardedhospitals for reporting staff

(05:10):
vaccination rate to the federal government, and the department
banned a mercury based substancefrom vaccines to protect
Americans from severe health dangers caused by overexposure
to mercury. Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino
said the FBI has arrested over 80 child sex predators and
rescued 14 children over the past several days, and the
Department of Justice launched anationwide investigation into

(05:32):
photo rules, including California and Minnesota.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon ended a decree
binding the federal government to DEI hiring practices, and
former FBI Director Chris Wray was criminally referred to the
DOJ for misleading Congress on several issues, according to
Fox. the US Office of Special Counsel is now investigating
Jack Smith for alleged legal political activity, according to

(05:55):
The Associated Press Smith is anattorney who served as a special
counsel for the DOJ from November 2022 to January 2025
and was appointed by then Attorney General Merrick Garland
to oversee two major investigations into President
Trump. The investigation was prompted
by a referral from Republican Senator Tom Cotton, who claimed
Smith's investigations into Trump were politically motivated

(06:18):

Harris campaign. Now it's time for the noteworthy

gets. That's all I have for today.
