Incomplete recording (sorry). The missing portion unpacked:

The verses in this sermon are meant to be a mirror for us to look into and not a stick with which to hit other believers.

We see in Andrew Murray an example of a man who was instrumental in revival on three continents exchanging a first class train ticket because it would undermine the gospel of the Kingdom for those who can't afford a first class ticket.

The message of the gospel is not just spoken but also displayed in our "body language" and Jesus gives instructions on how that "body language" should look. Apparently 90% of communication is non-verbal and Jesus here points out what that should look like.

Gold represents capital - we must rely on the Kingdoms provision.

Silver represents trading security (to pay for lodging) - we must rely on Kingdom hospitality.

Copper represents the use of material resources - the ministry of the gospel of the Kingdom must not be confused with commercial enterprise.

All three point out that our reliance on fundraising must not eclipse our reliance on the One who commissions.

They were temporary directives that laid the foundation for future ministry even when Jesus does authorise them to take along a purse.

The absence of a bag, extra shirt or sandals point out that we have an urgent message and the sandals specifically require the messenger to come in humility.

The recording picks up that the absence of a bag also had another meaning. There were traveling philosophers that would go around teaching with an empty bag. They were in effect itinerant beggar teachers. Jesus does not want the message undermined in that way but wants authenticity.

That is where the recording then starts. Enjoy!
