Speaker 1 (00:00):
Don't you know?
Talking about a revolutionsounds like a whisper.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
If you feel diminished, dismissed, brushed
aside, to be seen but not heard, then this podcast is for you.
In Silent Voices Whisper, webelieve it is time to take a
stand.
I'm Cassie Chandler Talkingabout a revolution.
Oh, no, time to take a stand.

(00:29):
I'm Cassie Chandler, myHometown America.
A few years ago, I moved to asmall town in central North
Carolina.
It's a former mail town ofabout 13,000 people.
It's a former mail town ofabout 13,000 people.
It includes several New YorkTimes bestselling writers,

(00:56):
wonderful artists, universityprofessors and a mix of many
different backgrounds and skills.
My hometown America is not anoverly fancy place.
The homes are generallycottages or small to
medium-sized houses.
There are mostly family-ownedrestaurants and stores, and a
tree-lined walking path curvesalong a small winding river to
encourage residents to take awalk from their neighborhoods to

(01:16):
the local stores and to thesupermarket.
It is the home of people fromall walks of life, different
races, faiths, genders,political backgrounds and
immigrants from all around theworld.
I see America in the faces ofthe people who live here.
I hear the voices of America intheir voices.

(01:42):
Now in my neighborhood there isa community center where many of
us gather every Tuesday toshare a meal and camaraderie.
It is at this time that wemight check in on our neighbors
and make sure all is well, or wemight celebrate the birthday of
one of the young children, orperhaps, you know, learn how one
neighbor's composting orgardening tips might be useful

(02:04):
to another.
Like the town itself, thepeople who attend this weekly
dinner come from all walks oflife.
They are America, and so at thelast dinner, I asked them this

(02:24):
what are your thoughts about ourAmerica today and what, if
anything, would you like to sayto a neighbor?
Let me share some of theirvoices.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
What makes America special and beautiful is the
diversity.
So don't be swayed by what'sgoing on right now, and enjoy
and embrace immigrants.
Everybody, the multiculturaland that's what built America
are the immigrants.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Yeah, I second that, well said.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
I want to say that I'm really grateful for my
neighbors and just the smilegoes a really long way, and it
feels really chaotic right nowfor all of us, but I think chaos
comes before a reorganizationinto a better possibility,
whatever that is for you.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
I think America today feels really scary and I would
like to say to my neighbors thatwe let's continue to look out
for each other and prioritizeeach other's safety and
well-being over money and greed, and I think we can come through

(03:40):
a stronger country as we havebefore.
It's gonna gonna be tough.

Speaker 6 (03:45):
Don't be complacent.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
What's the state of economy today?

Speaker 4 (03:48):
To my neighbors I'd like to say even if I've never
met you, I care about you.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
I'd like to tell to everyone look, at the world as a
whole and don't think too muchabout yourself.
I think in America we arethinking too much about
ourselves only.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
America's strength is its people and the freedom that
they have to express themselvesas individuals, and it's
important that we maintain thatby respecting each other,
regardless of our background, orour faith or socioeconomic
status.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
You may have noticed that among this group, no one
became angry.
There were no bullying tacticsor hateful comments or people
even pushing political agendas.
These were the voices ofAmerica, the voices of those who
still seek kindness, still wantwhat is best for all and who

(04:52):
still remain hopeful.
Take a stand, America.
Take a stand for hope.

Speaker 6 (05:01):
So that's it for today's episode of Silent Voices
Whisper hope.
