Lauri (00:00):
Hello and welcome back to
Soulful Speaking.
Here on this show we explorethe real, raw and sometimes
revolutionary side of publicspeaking.
In today's episode I'm bringingyou inside the speaker's studio
, behind the scenes of theSoulful Speaking immersion.
In this snippet we dive intothe invisible habits, voices and
(00:24):
fears that can hold us backFrom oh my god, I can't breathe
to who am I to speak?
These are things that we rarelysay out loud, but in this space
we shine a light on them, wemeet them with compassion and
then we begin to let them go.
To let them go the bodysensations.
(00:55):
The Western world does not as awhole, does not know what to do
with physical sensations.
Most of the Western world doesnot believe that energy even
exists, although now science issort of catching up with things
like mirror neurons and energyfields and highly sensitive
people and empaths.
Science is catching up.
So what it feels like we havebeen trained with is like that.
(01:20):
There was an an old Lost inSpace show.
There's a new one, but the oldone had like a really funky
android that would go DangerWill Robinson danger.
So we have a habit, whenthere's energy and when it's
important to us and when there'ssensation of trying to shut it
(01:41):
down and it can be kind of on aspectrum of fight, flight or
freeze, where it might nottechnically be in that, but you
do feel a little like you knowyou're shutting it down.
Or it can be such a habit thatlike if you've ever met somebody
(02:02):
who you watch them speak andyou you just feel like you're
getting them mentally and theysay, oh, I used to be nervous
but I got over that.
One of my voice instructors hadtwo actors on a stage doing
what she was teaching them andone of them was riveting and for
(02:22):
the other one, with her Britishaccent, she said it was like
there's no there there and shewent off to investigate why.
And it was like because theyshut it down so much that it's
like their body doesn't havethis capacity to respond fully
in the moment.
(02:42):
So part of what's happening bybeing in these groups together
is your body is learning thatyou speaking is different than
if you came across a bear in thewoods.
They're both important.
They're important in differentways.
(03:02):
The thing that is going danger, will Robinson, it's habits,
parts of us that may be drivingor being in charge that we don't
, we may not want in charge nowscared for us because speaking
(03:25):
really authentically andsoulfully and about the things
that matter to us is vulnerableand courageous.
So the inner soul suckers aregoing danger, danger, danger,
danger.
And we're teaching it in here.
It's safe.
And we're teaching it in here.
(03:51):
It's safe.
And when you hold the spaceoutside of here it's safe.
Even when you speak in themiddle of someone else's meeting
, when you put your energeticarms around the room, you're now
the one creating the safety.
And first your body and allyour parts need to log some reps
and build up some energeticescrow in here to know that you
(04:14):
can go out there and hold thesafe spaces.
Sometimes is helpful to namewhat you're releasing from
driving or being in charge thatno longer serves you.
(04:35):
It might be a soul sucker.
The four soul suckers are thenervous Nellies.
They tend to say things likenot enough time, not enough
money, not enough energy.
The imposter monsters you'renot enough for some specific
(04:55):
reason.
Old enough, pretty enough, thinenough, experienced enough.
The controlling stage mothersif you plan every single detail,
you can make up for your notenoughness.
If you're going to do it,they're going to control the
(05:18):
hell out of it.
The below the belt bastards cansay I'm not enough, period, no
one cares what I have to say.
There's a kernel of truth toall of them.
I really didn't want there tobe a kernel of truth to below
(05:39):
the, to the below the beltbastards.
And then someone told me thereis the imposter monsters.
Kernel of truth is they'resaying you're different.
And when our protector partstake over, they want to cover up
(05:59):
those differences because theythink it's a problem to be
different.
You are are different.
You are one in eight billion onthis planet.
There is no one else exactlylike you, and when my soul is
seeing you, it's saying thankGod for your differences.
(06:21):
You are here to bring somethingthat no one else can bring in a
way that no one else can bringit, and we need your differences
, we need your voice in theconversation.
So if you can take the I'mdifferent and that's a good
thing, I'm going to hold thespace that I'm here to hold.
(06:42):
I'm going to do what I'm hereto do.
That's the shift, and thenstart looking for the room
changing in the way that youknow.
You hold it.
The below the belt bastards aresaying no one cares what you
have to say.
The kernel of truth is thatsomebody doesn't or didn't care,
(07:11):
and the didn't care might belike the legacy of some stuff in
our past, which makes ittriggering.
When it seems like someone inthe room doesn't care and we
start to like, at least I have,I will out myself.
I have been very guilty offocusing on the one person in
(07:32):
the room who seems to be notvibing with me, looking at me
like I'm nuts and like honing inand trying to make them get it.
Who are you trying to convincethem?
(07:56):
Or you?
And it was like I'm trying toconvince myself through them or
I'm trying to convince my fatherabout into it.
You know, mother, veryintuitive, father, very rational
, totally confusing.
When we can release theprotectors from driving, then we
can open up into.
Yeah, I'm not for everybody.
(08:18):
There are other speakingcoaches that some people are
going to vibe with and not me,and I'm still going to hold the
space for them to jump into thispool of what I believe is the
better way to do it.
But it becomes like greatbecause they're, you know, out
(08:38):
of the 8 billion people on theplanet, there are a lot of
speaking coaches.
If everybody of the 8 billionpeople on the planet.
Were all my clients, somethingwould need to change with how I
do things.
So somebody in the room mightnot care, and it's not about you
(08:58):
.
There's nothing to fake, nothing to protect yourself from
.
You're just not their person.
Focus on the ones who are.
What if all that stuff you feelwasn't a flaw but a doorway?
(09:19):
What if the sensations, theenergy and the soul suckers were
just signs that somethingsacred is trying to come through
?
You don't have to fight it, youjust need to hold space for it.
It can be messy and it's alsomagical and utterly human.
(09:39):
