Thank you very much to Florian for commissioning this episode!
This trio of episodes are the ones where a bunch of people want to be Straw Hats, but Luffy has zero interest in being the CEO of a big-box pirate crew and would rather keep his operation modest. Didn't stop them from still taking an oath, tho!
Thanks again for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

Speaker 1 (00:02):
This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
covering one piece episodes seven forty four through seven forty
six No Way Out. Admiral Fujitra's ruthless pursuit Sun's cups,
the straw Hat Fleet is formed, and the numerous rivals

(00:26):
struggle amongst themselves the raging monsters of the New World.
In these episodes, Loofy is getting a fleet, whether he
likes it or not, apparently, and there is a power
vacuum that is resulting in some real future problems for

(00:47):
our gang. Welcome to spoil Me. Welcome to the show everyone.

(01:10):
I am Natasha. Thank you very much to Florian for
commissioning this episode, and thank you very much to Florian
for being flexible because I had to move the recording.
I won't even say at the last second, because I
did not have a chance to get in touch with
Florian until long after I should have recorded already to
let him know. So there's my bad. But appreciate you

(01:35):
a lot, definitely, So this trio of episodes, I actually
really really enjoyed you guys know how mad I was
in the last grouping because Fuji Toa just pissed me off.
And it's so funny because the first of these three episodes,
No Way Out Admiral Fujiitorro's ruthless pursuit, it basically just

(01:59):
cemented how I e about him, with him being about
to drop a bunch of rubble on the straw hats,
and then they get away due to the people in
the town basically conspiring to like cover for Lufy, and
this fucking dude backs off and is just like, I
bet you have such a kind heart, and I am

(02:21):
so sorry. I understand that not everybody agrees with me. Seraphm.
I get you, I get where you're coming from, But
when it comes down to it, I just I cannot
with a person who believes one thing and is about
to do the opposite of that thing, Like there's there

(02:42):
has got to be a reason that feels really ironclad
for me, and I just don't really feel it with him.
He's just not. Just for those who are not in
the discord and apology Seraphim, because you're not here, I'm
kind of making this argument on your behalf. But Seraphim's
argument in the discord is that Fujiitura was playing a

(03:06):
long game that he didn't want to step in against
Do Flamingo, because then the World government would be able
to take credit because Fujiitura is their guy. And that
also there is in a previous episode a mention of
the fact that Fujiita was conscripted, not a volunteer for

(03:29):
the Marines, So there's a possibility that, like he can't
even quit, that that's not an option for him. Now
as far as the long game thing, what I said
in the discord was like, I understand this, but I
also feel like he still could have helped against Do
Flamingo and then done that big public transmission with the

(03:52):
apology and made it clear that he was given the
opposite of the orders that he actually carried out, and
I think it's would have had the same effect. But
the idea that he was maybe conscripted and doesn't have
a choice about being in the Marines or not, I
find it a compelling argument, but I don't feel like

(04:15):
the show has done enough to make it clear if
that is the case. If it's the case, then yeah,
that's definitely like something to take into consideration with him
trying to work against the system because he is forced
to be in the system and doesn't want to be
and if that like in that sense, I would actually

(04:39):
really admire the attempt here, but the show just didn't
really illustrate that adequately for me. So it just comes
across as somebody who is part of the Marines knows
that they're up to no good is and is sort
of trying to have his cake and eat it too,

(05:00):
and like fight the Marines but not too hard, and like,
you know, I'm gonna try and do the right thing,
but like in such a way that it really doesn't
look like you're trying. And the whole thing with him
holding all of this rubble over their heads and saying,
you need to feel the weight of the destruction you wrought.

(05:22):
I will never recover from the fact that he says
that to them, after the damage that he inflicted on
dress Rosa himself, and the fact that these are the
people who saved dress Rosa. They had nothing to do
with this destruction. All of this was either do Flamingo
himself or his people that did this. So there's I

(05:43):
don't feel like really much to be said in his
defense regarding that particular accusation. So anyway, I can understand
where Seraphim is coming from, but none of that is
just it's inadequate for me, and I just find him
to be one of those people that's like, in a

(06:04):
way makes me more infuriated because he's straddling this line
and it feels like is unwilling to really commit one
way or the other, which is so accurate to how
real life is that seeing it in something like this
makes it feel all the more infuriating. I know I

(06:25):
keep using that word, but I'm sorry. There it is.
Florian says, I'm fifty to fifty with him. I can
take him or leave him, if that makes sense. I'm
also a Libra though, yeah, Libra vibes here also, Florian,
so I very much get you on that. So let's
start off with the Ruthless Pursuit, which there's a fun

(06:48):
visual here of everybody heading down this extremely long doc
I guess that is several miles long, with all of
these different ships set up next to it, and this
dude who he says that it's like his fleet and

(07:10):
that they made a doc or Lumbus is that how
you say his name? And he says they've extended ropes
to a bridge sturdy enough to support even our most
sizeable allies in their escape and it's a good thing
he says that, because then we see the giant heading
toward them and literally leaping onto it, and I was
just like, holy shit, this is a very fun bit,

(07:35):
and especially the giant is holding onto Loofy because Lufy
was trying to continue his fight with Fuji Tora, and
pretty much everybody is like, Lufy, Loofy, Loofy, Hey, hey
stop it, no, no, Loofy, do not do that. And
I found it genuinely amusing the fact that, like, this dude,

(07:59):
because the giant is holding Loofy in his fist the
way that he is. What it reminded me of is
when you're trying to get a cat to take a
pill and you have to burrito the cat and a
towel to keep its claws out of the way so
that you can shove its mouth open and just push
the pill down its throat. So it just kept like,

(08:26):
we just keep going back to this imagery of Loofy
in his fist, and it just made me think of
wrapping up a very disgruntled cat in a towel, and
that the fact that they have to do that to
Lufy feels actually really really appropriate and it takes a
while before Loofy is finally convinced that this fight isn't

(08:48):
going to occur and that it's not worthwhile to continue this,
you know. Meanwhile on land, Fujiitura is still standing there
in his uh swirling dust and debris, looking real fucking serious,
and he's thinking, if you think I'll simply let you escape,

(09:10):
you're mistaken, And he shoves his fist forward and this
massive cloud of broken masonry begins to float forward over
all of the ships. And at this point I was
so pissed at him. I was so angry. You do

(09:31):
not even understand. It's just like, no matter what front
you're keep, you're trying to keep up here the thing,
you know, Like, I'm so disgusted. So anyway, he like
the fact that he is about to be to either
willingly kill Loofy or to willingly put Loofy in impal Down,

(10:00):
which we know is a place with a lot of
torture in it. After everything that Loofy did for this community,
that he was about to like resort to this, I
will never forgive it. I won't be able to get
over it. I'm so sorry. And he begins to do
this thing where there. It's a weird thing with the

(10:22):
animation where you're seeing this like almost pulsing circle that's
like a dark It almost looks like in film when
they're when you have to change over the real when
you're watching a movie, like on an old fashioned film screen,
there's like a ring that will pop up a bright

(10:45):
light in the corner of the screen to signal to
the person who's working the projector that they have to
switch over the film. And it kind of looks like
that sort of ring, but dark instead of bright, and
it's like here and there and here and there. And
then when you start to see some of the bigger
chunks of debris beginning to like move together and clump,

(11:09):
and I think it was looking almost like there was
a sort of magnetized thing happening. I'm not really entirely
sure what this was meant to signify, because even if
you have all of these chunks like clinging to one another,

(11:30):
does that make it more devastating than just the cloud
of debris would have been to begin with? Anyway, I'm
not really sure if that makes it like more intimidating necessarily,
it just feels like it's pretty bad to begin with,
maybe this is supposed to be like what he's doing
to enable the cloud to move forward away from him

(11:53):
and still remain contained and in control. I don't know.
So everybody who is like on the land is watching this,
going what the hell is happening with this thing? Eventually
King Rico is like, why is he doing this? And
Viola has to be the one to say, like, he's

(12:15):
chasing straw Hat, it's following him. And you see Ricu
like start sweating because he's understandably, I owe straw Hat
so fucking much after everything, and this dude is about
to take him down with this? Are you serious? So
then we go to this speech that he has. I
know how you must feel right now, straw Hat. Although

(12:37):
I cannot see the havoc I have wrought, I know
it looms heavily before your eyes, a dark sky that
suffocates any hope for escape. The moment you try to
set sail, this rubbable fall like an endless rain, sinking
every ship into the abyss below. Surely you must know,

(12:59):
even if by some miracle you do escape me, the
four Emperors will hound your every step. By defeating Joker,
you've put a target on your back. Your life will
be a living hell until at last they claim your neck.
You took pity on me for my blindness, but the
truth is this was an injury that I brought upon myself.

(13:25):
These eyes were closed by my own actions because they
saw too many things that I didn't care for, things
that I wished they hadn't. And I thought for sure
when he said this, that we were going to get
a flashback at this moment, and that we were suddenly

(13:46):
going to see what awful thing he went through, and
the fact that he blinds himself. It was just such
a It just felt like such a perfect setup, you know.
And we don't get any further explanation. We just that's
the end of that speech. We have the cloud that's

(14:06):
like all formed over the ships, and eventually there's this
I'm trying to find the moment where that dark, sort
of pulsing black I don't even know what to call it.
I keep wanting to call it like a barcode, because
that's the weirdness of the He says, this is the

(14:30):
end of your story, and bits of the cloud begin
to rain. He doesn't drop everything all at once. There's
just like individual pieces as these pieces are beginning to fall.
We hear some yelling and some footsteps and somebody yells out,

(14:57):
where's Rebecca? Give her back to us, Loofy. Whatever you're planning,
we're gonna stop it. And you guys know, like last episode,
I was just sort of over the townspeople. I was
very much feeling like, these guys are fucking useless and

(15:19):
keep screwing things up for everybody, and I am sick
of it. And there was just a feeling for me
of like you could keep getting your ass saved so
many times that I don't feel like you deserve it anymore.
You're not even trying. And it was really fun actually
in this episode to have this thing happen that happens here.

(15:42):
They're rushing forward and it seems like they're doing the
thing that I was real pissed at them for doing
last episode, which is turning on Lufy yet again, even
though he's saved their asses. And then we have Fuji
Tora like he's at first just sort of guys, why

(16:03):
are you running this way? There's just pirates over there.
I have this under control, Stay out of it. He's
really baffled why so many people are getting involved. And
then he tunes in so to speak, because you know,
he has a heightened sense of hearing due to being blind,

(16:24):
and he hears people like one of the kids saying, wait,
I thought Lufy was our friend. Why are we doing
this again, and the kid's parents saying, just play along.
We're doing this because as long as we are in
the way of all of that rubble, Fujiita won't let

(16:45):
it drop. So by doing this, we're saving straw Hat's life.
And I'll tell you what, I loved this so much.
It made me so happy. It's about day time. This
crew of people is made to do something for Loofy

(17:05):
for a change. He's out here doing everything for them. Yes,
pay that shit back, thank you, appreciate it. And there
was just so much about this, Like there's also the
fact that they bring up how nobody ever talks about it,
but Rebecca's father is actually heros and they live in

(17:31):
that cottage out on the hillside, and they used to
be a family with Scarlet and all the adults in
the kingdom have known that for sixteen years now. Of
course we knew the truth about the fairies too, but
we kept the secret to protect them. So you guys,

(17:57):
the fact that everybody knew about this, You know what
I'm gonna say, Right then, why are we doing it?
And I think we're meant to be like, oh, okay,
we're not really doing it. Later on, because King Riku
says something about how Rebecca and Kiros are going to

(18:18):
be coming for dinner. They're not even coming for dinner,
I believe, Rebecca says no, Viola says Rebecca is coming
to cook us dinner, which I definitely had a moment
of like wow. But in the end, I still feel like,

(18:40):
if you guys are having her over, if the whole
town already knows, can we just like let go of
this weird story that we've set up about how she
has a prince for a father. Actually, like I I

(19:05):
don't know, I don't know anyway, it just seemed like
we're trying to sort of resolve that story be but
not in a way that feels like we're dealing with
it head on. It feels like very passive aggressive in
a way which anybody who has been listening to my
show for any amount of time understands how deeply contemptuous,

(19:31):
contemptuous I am of passive aggressive, Like handling of situations.
From what I understand of Japanese culture, it's like quite
a thing, you know. It's sort of in the same
vein that I think of waspy families, where it's much

(19:52):
more about appearances and reputation and keeping face. And so
I think that I'm just destined to be unsatisfied by
this plotline. I think, like ultimately, guys, where I stand
on this is that I am the most disappointed by

(20:14):
the fact that we went through that whole Heros and
Rebecca storyline and never actually got a resolution where they
get to like be publicly together in a way that
makes them happy. So it feels like, well, why did

(20:34):
we go through all of that if we weren't even
going to get like an it's a happy ending and
that they get to be together. And I don't think
she really cares about being a princess. So it's not
exactly that I think she's unhappy. It's just that it
feels like there's a larger issue here that we haven't
dealt with, which is that these people who loved each

(20:58):
other had to like go and hide in such a way,
and maybe the way things shook out wouldn't have happened
this way if they hadn't been set apart from the
rest of their family. You know, but I think it's
like supposed to be just the admirable story be of

(21:22):
her giving up being a princess so that she can
be with her father and the selflessness of that, and
how that's supposed to prove something about her, And you know,
I guess, I guess it's just really not what I
was hoping for, and after everything, it was a little
bit flat for me, But you know, it is what

(21:44):
it is, so we get Kiros. This is when he's
like wondering what Lufy actually looks like, and he's thinking,
you know, what is a shit your eyes? And what
does your smile look like? It's a shame. Wish I

(22:05):
could use these eyes for one last time to see
the face of a man like you. I'm sure it's
filled to the brim with kindness. This is what he
is saying about a man that he was about to
not only kill, but also kill like hundreds of other

(22:28):
people in order to kill. And now he's just like,
I wish I could set eyes on your cute old face,
because I bet you're real nice. If you don't get
the fuck out of my face with this bullshit. I
am never going to recover. This is such garbage. Oh

(22:48):
my god, And I know it's like supposed to be. Oh,
I'm so glad I don't have to try and kill
you now, because I didn't want to do it in
the first place. I'm sorry, it's just not working. It's
not working for me. So we get everybody boarding the
ships and that one dude I can't remember his name,

(23:13):
he says something about the l Fhab Pirates I think
is the name of them, but he says like they've
got something like seventy something ships, and he says that
they are at Lufy's disposal, and a bunch of other
dudes all throw in here as well. Now, this was

(23:38):
something that I felt like really did pay off in
a way that I wasn't expecting, because you guys know
that like a lot of the dudes here who wind
up throwing in are ones who were in the arena.
They were part of that fight. And I was really
at the beginning of the dress Rosa arc just like
there are too many people to keep track of, friends.

(23:58):
I don't know what I'm supposed to do with all
these these guys. Now, I still stand by that. I
definitely feel like there's too many people, But now that
we get to see them all becoming like kind of
extensions of Lufy's crew, at least, it feels like I

(24:21):
understand spending. I don't want to say as much time
with them as we did, but it makes it feel
a little bit like it was not such a waste
of time. And I know that doesn't sound like me
being like generous exactly, but you know what I'm saying,
Like it just did seem at the beginning of the arc,

(24:42):
like I don't really get why I even want to
keep all these guys in my head. It's the waste
of real estate in there, and I have got to
use it for better things. And I don't necessarily feel
like I need to memorize all of their names or
anything at this point, but they all now whole slightly
more significance. So it's definitely feeling like, yeah, exactly. Sorry.

(25:08):
Florian's in the chat and says I did not expect this.
I felt the same way you do. This kind of
makes sense looking back again, rewatching it is way more
interesting because of this, And yeah, that's what I was
going to say was like, I feel like we're not
for this. On a rewatch, I would definitely be sort
of like okay, okay, I get it, I get it,

(25:30):
I get it. But because we wind up here, I
feel like it would make the rewatch a lot more
fun and it would feel a lot more rich because
it's like, you know something that maybe this information winds
up being, if not necessarily useful, at least kind of

(25:53):
a fun detail, you know, something a little bit juicy,
And I like that aspect of it. So the way
that this works out this is so funny because I'm
trying to get to the part where, oh my god,
I forgot Cavendish, being like if I team up with you,

(26:14):
I'm sure to be the popular one, and Lufy's like, well,
I'm not asking for help. I don't know what you
guys are even talking about. You can do whatever it
is you want. And then we've got the introduction with
each of their names and a little like it's Suliman

(26:34):
and Cavendish, the Beautiful Pirates with seventy five members. I
just love that they're called the Beautiful Pirates because Bruh
Suliman no offense. But and then the Bartow Club with
fifty six members. I love you so much, Bartolomeo, I

(26:57):
love you so so much. I can't get enough of
this fucking guy. Then the Hapusi Hapo Sui Army Haposue.
Their leader is their thirteenth leader is Don Side. Of course,
we have off to the side Baby five being like
looking good, honey, Oh my god, I love her so much.

(27:21):
Then Triple X Gym Fighting Alliance with four members. They're
led by Destruction Canon Dao IDEO's that guy with the
fucking shoulder pads. Tantakor with two hundred members. Their leader
is Leo the Warrior, and uh, let's see. Then we

(27:46):
have the soon to be Giant Pirates five members and growing.
Their captain is Hajrudin, and Hazrudin later on talks about
that he is going to be going around and getting
more of them together. And then Commodore of the yont
Maria Fleet with forty three hundred members. Forty three hundred

(28:12):
members or Lumbus, that's his name, what a what a
fucking name. So Bartolomeo comes forward and niels and is like,
we have fifty six hundred people total, and we want
to drink sake with you and do this ritual so

(28:34):
that you will be our leader, he says, so that
we can drink sake like father and son, which I
don't know if this is like a translation issue, but
you know, when he follows up, we humbly ask you
to take us under your wing. I'm sort of assuming

(28:54):
that the father something is just like mentor and mentee
or leader and you know, subjects sort of situation. And
so Bartolomeo asks Loofy this and we get like the
pan across to everybody else's reactions, and the episode ends,

(29:15):
and then we go into the next one and Lufy says,
no thanks, I'll pass. It's very funny because they fill
up a huge bowl with sake for him, and all
I could think was if he's meant to take a
drink every time one of them takes a drink, This
dude is about to get fucked up. But yeah, they're already,

(29:37):
they've poured the sake and it's not until they have
like finished setting all of this up. Loufy, by the way,
is scowling throughout this whole thing, and by like once
he actually rejects them. I'm sorry, but there's just not
another way to say this the all the straw Hats

(30:03):
are sort of grinning and like, yeah, of course this
is how he's responding to this, whereas all of the
pirates who had been trying to sign up with him
are looking really sad. And at one point Bartolomeo was like,
are we not good enough? What's the problem here, you guys?

(30:29):
I felt so sad because, like I'm I'm to let
you in on my headspace here. I do not believe
that this would have been the way to go for
Louviy to like be in charge of all of these people.
Luviy can barely handle being in charge of the straw Hats.

(30:50):
I've argued many times that he really isn't even the leader. Really,
he's like the charismatic face of the straw Hats, but
like he's not in charge, you know, you know, he's
he has everybody in a choke hold because he just
decides to jump into stuff and they kind of have

(31:12):
to do whatever he has determined in order to keep
him from getting killed, which I'm not sure actually translates
to him being the leader. Just to be clear on
what I mean when I'm saying all of this, there
is no need for Loofy to actually be in charge
in any real way, and I like as much as

(31:39):
a part of me did want this because it felt
like we were potentially turning a corner in the overall
story and that he was going to need more backup
because we are obviously with the whole like power vacuum
thing that gets talked about later. Yeah, there are going

(32:00):
to be a lot more people after Lufy and after
his friends specifically. I definitely agree with that. I believe that,
but I also didn't see that this was going to
be the way to handle it. And if anything, it
might put more of a target on Lufy's back because
he's now the one in charge of this big fleet

(32:24):
after defeating Do Flamingo this way, maybe people would who
would have left him alone are now going to take
a second look at him because he's suddenly in charge
of all of these people. I had very mixed feelings.
I really went back and forth on whether I liked
this or not. It just like the recording that I

(32:44):
did with Florian, I said something about how it really
seems like this is a turning point, and I wondered
as I was watching this, I was like, is this
what I was sensing that the turning point is suddenly
the strong get like huge and there's thousands of them,

(33:04):
and even thinking it, I was just like, no, they
wouldn't be the straw hats. It wouldn't That's not who
I would call. They can't all be straw hats. That's
the in group, that's the originals. There would have to
be some other name for them. And honestly, I couldn't
even think of something that I liked. I was just
like the Loofy pirates, like what is you know, like

(33:26):
wh So anyway, once he declines and says no, and
there's you know, just everybody sort of being like, I
feel like you're rejecting us. Here, Loofy says, guys, we

(33:48):
don't need to do all of it this way, like
we're all friends. We went through this together. If I'm
ever in trouble, I'll call you for help because I
know that you'll have my back. I don't need to
be a big shot or have a whole fleet for that.

(34:10):
And if you ever need help, let us know and
we will definitely step up and be there for you. That's,
you know, that's the most important thing. But and he
says at one point I don't need to be a
big shot. I just want to be King of the Pirates. Honestly,

(34:33):
I really really loved that moment. There's like, you know,
they do that boy oil sound where they anytime somebody
does something particularly stupid, and there's like a pause where
everybody is looking at each other. That's the music that plays.
I couldn't help but understand what he meant by that.

(34:55):
Though he wants to be the best and on top
and find the one piece and all of that, but
in terms of like actually being in charge, that is
super not what's important to him, And I could see
why other people wouldn't understand what he means by that.

(35:16):
But I also feel like that kind of tracks Weirdly,
there was a part of me that felt like I
understood what he meant by it, even though it sounds
like a contradiction. So oh, Florian says, this is what

(35:37):
white Beard and his kids had, and kids is in
quotation marks Oh. I see. So they're trying to sort
of set him up to be like the new white
Beard because Whitebeard's dead. Now I see, okay, this makes sense,
thank you, Florian. White Beard is dead, right, I didn't

(36:01):
make that up him and acetied shit guys, the way
that my brain has lost track of so much it's
not awesome. So this like the whole uh bit here
with them deciding, you know what, fuck you, We're gonna

(36:27):
do it anyway. I cannot tell you how delighted I
found this. The whole way that this worked, I because
Loofy tells them explicitly, you guys can do what you want,
and so they do and he's like, no, not like that.

(36:48):
And I just couldn't stop laughing because this is what
you said, and everybody really believes in you, and I
get that you like didn't ask. But that's part of
the thing about being a leader is that you wind
up in that position, like despite yourself. I don't feel

(37:13):
like that's the right way to say it, but it's
just the sort of thing that, like when you exhibit
real leadership skills and other people recognize that in you,
even if you try and put somebody else as the leader,
they're instinctively going to do what you tell them over
what that person tells them, just because they see you

(37:35):
as being in charge. And there's something about that that
is difficult to undo, you know, Like, even when you
try and be like, don't ask me. I'm not in
charge here. If people think you are and they came
to you automatically, then it's gonna be some work to
convince them to go to this other person, and that's
gonna be like ongoing, you know. So Anyway, at this point,

(38:02):
like Lufy gets real mad and tries to yell at
all of them for this, but I was just like, eh,
it's great. And Bartolomeo is the one who gets it.
It's not about being big but being free. Of course
Bartolomeo gets it. They are interrupted here by cannon fire,

(38:23):
and Leo is like, what the fuck? I sewed all
their ships together. Who the fuck is messing with us
right now? And we look out there and we see
all of these pirates that were I am assuming with
do Flamingo attacking, And we also see that pile of

(38:47):
rubble is still fucking hovering. And I was sitting there
like which chore? I thought we I thought we were done.
I thought we were done with this. I'm surprised it's
all still in the air. Well. It turns out to
be very convenient because soon chunks of this all begin

(39:08):
falling on the enemy ships, including the bottom half of
the like statue of Pika that he had been using,
which is the size of like half the island. And
this is when Fuji Toura says, that's my parting gift
straw hat I will give Fujiitura credit for this. It's

(39:33):
the one like fighting action that he has taken that
feels like, okay, at least she did something, you know.
So it's kind of funny because it's set up like
it's going to be this whole thing with fighting against
these pirates, and then it's sort of a wrap really
really quickly, and then we get the organization of everybody

(40:02):
onto the ship that Bartolomeo made and all of the
partying and all of that. I'm trying to find the spot.
There's a bunch of like flashback stuff in here that
I'm trying to really quickly blow past because we don't
need any of this, and so much of it is
about uh Kiros and Rebecca again, and I'm just like,

(40:24):
uh whatever, oh okay. So the ship that Bartolomeo brings
them onto isn't until the third episode the numerous rivals struggle,
so we'll go to that one. The ship that Bartolomeo
has waiting for them, you guys, Oh my god, it's
so it's it's it's a fandom ship. It is like

(40:51):
a few days ago, Florian sent me the like promo
trailer for the Lego that they're making for One Piece,
and it kind of felt like if Lego had decided
not to stick to doing things exactly according to the show,

(41:11):
then maybe they would have made something like this. It's
first of all, got a huge sale that's like lime
green with maybe blue polka dots all over it that
vaguely resemble gunshot holes. But I don't think it's supposed to.
It's just what I thought of because in the middle
there's one of those like comic book they're sort of

(41:33):
like starbursts that usually is used along with a sound effect.
So it's like you've got all of these polka dots
and then that starburst over it, and it looks like
an action moment in a comic where something's getting shot at,
you know. Over that it says Bartow Club in huge
red letters. And then we've got the figurehead is Loofy

(42:01):
in his straw hat with his long, bendy, stretchy arms
moving backward along the sides of the ship. In the
middle is that Ram's head from the Going Mary, and
at the back is Chopper's head with his antlers and

(42:24):
his hat, and then there's of course the orange no
tangerine trees, So sorry that are paying respect to Nami.
I kind of thought we were going to get like
one thing for every member of the Straw Hats that
was included on this ship, and they don't do that,
but I was fine with it. You know, it might

(42:46):
be that we get reveals of other things later on
as things continue as well. But just how excited Bartolomeo
is to show this off, how much work he put
into it, Like he's talking about all of these mastership
rights that he got in touch with and the people
that he consulted with to make things, and it is

(43:07):
just so delightful. I just every bit of this was
exactly what I wanted. It was just great. So, yeah,
they're the ones that are going to be uh Bartow's
ship is going to be the one that gets them

(43:28):
where they're going next. Really quickly. I'm trying to back
up here because there's a conversation between some people we have,
like the the opening of the episode is law and
he's like staring out at the water broodingly as he does,
and there's this sort of a weird moment here in

(43:50):
my mind. I'm interested in either how you guys interpreted
this or if there is maybe like a translation thing. Oh,
I should bring that up as well. Sarahim was, you know,
in Defensive Fujiitra. In the discord, Saraphim said something about
how it must be a translation issue because the word

(44:12):
whimsical isn't at all in the subversion. It's it's you know,
definitely in the dub, but that they clearly didn't mean
it the way that it came across in the dub.
So I don't know what. Like the speech that he

(44:34):
gives in the sub the Saraphim posted, like, I think
all of the text of it in the discord, and
it bears like this, it's like the same general idea
as the speech in the dub, but it has a
real different Like there's enough of a difference to me

(45:00):
that I do feel like they fucked up the translation
a little bit. I don't know, it's hard to you
know what I'm saying, Like, I just would I wonder
why they chose the word whimsical. I wonder what came

(45:22):
into their head to do that, because frankly, nothing in
the speech that Saraphim shared seems to really justify the
use of that word specifically. But anyway, the thing with

(45:42):
Trafalgar Law looking out and being moody, the reason that
I'm talking about, like maybe there's another translation issue or something,
is just because Robin comes up and asks, she stands
next to him and is just like, what is it
that you're thinking about? And long story short, he basically
just tells her leave me alone, which is fine. But

(46:07):
after he says leave me alone and walks away, she
sort of gazes after him and then sort of goes
hm and smiles in a way that felt to me
like it was wholly inappropriate for somebody who seemed to
be sad and emotional looking off into the distance telling

(46:29):
you they want you to back off and leave them alone,
to sort of like grin and seem vaguely amused by it.
I just didn't really understand that moment at all, and
I feel like I'm missing something. And I know that
you guys have said a few times that the way

(46:52):
that Robin is portrayed in the sub just gives her
a whole different vibe to the way that she is
in the dub So I'm wondering is it her? Did
they translate Trafalgar weirdly? You know, like what was going
on there? Because it was a moment that just doesn't
really go anywhere and I couldn't understand the point of it.

(47:16):
But anyway, so this is when we go to the
Royal Palace and they're talking about when I say the
Royal Palace, I want to read exactly how this is
describe here. Let's see, No, it just says the Royal Palace.

(47:38):
I'm assuming that this is with the other celestial dragons.
There's a when you say royal palace, is that Riku's palace?
I don't understand who that? It can't be right, I'm

(48:00):
trying to see. There's also the mention of Lucci talking.
Is Lucie the one that we met? Did we meet
this guy before? Is this the dude who was one
of the I can't remember the name of that other
group that eventually a guy has a zebra power and whatnot.

(48:22):
I feel like I'm getting some people mixed up here.
But apparently, let's see Cipher Pole agis zero. That's the
name of the guy who's talking here, and he has
a real weird sort of beard with like a puffball
on the end, and he is accompanied by a dude

(48:44):
with a weird series of like what looks like pieces
of metal or leather as a mask, but the way
it's sitting on his face, it almost looks like they're
actually directly fastened to his face. This dude is reporting
that all of these weapons that were on Dress Rosa

(49:07):
and being stored there have apparently disappeared, and they have
decided that the way all of this was done, so
many weapons carried out in such a short time, it
had to be a group that was pretty large and
pretty organized, and so they are going with the revolutionaries,

(49:34):
which is as we know correct. So this is the
fact that the revolutionaries have managed to get so many weapons. Awesome.
I'm delighted by that. But uh oh, Florian says CP nine.
That's how big and im and that's how I took it.

(49:55):
He has a pigeon, Okay. If there's something about him
that looks different, and I don't don't know if it's
on purpose or if he just changed up his designer,
if I'm remembering wrong, I don't know. So then we
have this like little sort of intermittent moment of viola

(50:16):
dancing flamenco and the narrator talking about how they're drowning
out their sorrows with the sound of music, and King
Rico like being amongst the people announcing that he is
coming back to the king, the king of the or
the chieftain of the Tantata, introducing himself and his daughter

(50:39):
and the Tantata are working on this huge statue memorial
to the people who helped save their kingdom. And then
eventually we go back to Fujiitura and Sengoku, and fujiitur

(50:59):
is saying like, I'm gonna head on out because until
I get law and straw hat, I'm really not going
to be able to show my face anywhere, and Sengoku
is like, all you need to do is apologize and
then Sakazuki can save face, and he says, I don't
want to. I want to save face too, and I

(51:26):
just like, at least he admits it's that petty. I guess.
I don't know. I don't know, I don't see it
for this guy. I will say though, that the scene
made me deeply want noodles like very very badly. So
it's got that going for it, and then we've got

(51:48):
do Flamingo talking to Suru. This was because, like when
Rebecca says earlier to Law, what's the matter do Flamingo
is nothing but a bad memory. I had a moment
of like, wait, what is he dead? I didn't think
he was dead. I thought, wait, what you know. I

(52:10):
definitely had a moment of like, did I misunderstand? And
then I realized, like, thinking back, I genuinely don't know
what happened to him, you know. So when we come
here and we actually get to see him chatting with Suru,
I was like, oh, okay, thank god we are checking

(52:31):
in on this, because all of a sudden, I started
doubting a lot of what I had assumed was going
on with him, because I really thought he was left
alive and just taken prisoner, and so to actually get
to see him reassured me a little bit. Don't get
me wrong, by the way, personally, i'd rather he was

(52:54):
dead for the sake of simplicity, for the sake of
this story, though I will acknowledge it's better that he
still be here. And I also just like the way
that he's talking to her. I was so frustrated with
him because he's just the I really appreciated that once

(53:18):
he comes to the end of what he's saying, Suru
just says, do you really believe the garbage that pours
out of your mouth? Which honestly had me cracking up
a little bit. I thought that was really funny. What
he is saying, which is not, to be clear, technically incorrect,

(53:43):
is just that all of this, like if Fujiitura had
wanted to throw in with me, none of this would
have happened. I was holding the reins on all of
the monsters that are out there. They were on me,
and now that you've taken me out of the equation,

(54:06):
they're going to be out here running amok because you
don't have the knowledge or the power over them that
I had. So you guys are about to really really
regret the fact that you decided to let me get
taken out by straw hat. And when he says this,

(54:28):
not only does suwerus say, so you really believe all
this bullshit? She also is just like you lost get
over it, which I have to say that cracked me
up a little bit, just like the suck it up cupcake,
you know that kind of vibe. And also we get

(54:50):
to look at there's like a slow pan over all
of Do Flamingo's restraints because he's chained up, and there's
like a I found it kind of funny. There's chains
of like different sizes wrapped around him, as if to
really emphasize that, like they went and found all the

(55:13):
chains they could find. They went and just like emptied
out the chain warehouse and were like all of them
wrap this man in all of the things that we've got.
So that aspect of it, because you know, I'm just
assuming that at some point he's either going to escape

(55:34):
or somebody will break him out, or he will you know,
he's gonna get put back in power maybe, but yeah,
he's pulling at his restraints really hard enough that a
bunch of the Marines are come running to help Tzuru
and they all have their guns out and everything, and

(55:56):
Dol Flamingo says, I want you to send a message
to the celestial dragons in Mariegeois. Tell me they will
be dragged from their gilded halls. It's been twenty five
years since gold Roger conquered the Grand Line, and no
one's done it. Since his rival white Beard stood before

(56:18):
the throne but met his end having never sat upon it.
So what happens now? Do you think there are more
pirates running wild out there than ever before? But there's
just one empty seat? You get it now? And I
think that, like this is kind of what Lufy's friends

(56:41):
were trying to make happen for him to give him
that seat, and Lufy just doesn't really want it. Now.
I would argue, maybe if you want to be King
of the Pirates, you have to take it whether you
like it or not. But I, like I said, I
do think I understand where Lufi is coming from in

(57:04):
not equating these things to each other, and I think
he's ultimately right, And I am glad that he isn't
going because it's the kind of a shortcut, you know,
in a way. And as he's saying like all of this,
Suru isn't arguing. It seems like she knows he's right

(57:26):
at least about some of this, but she just doesn't
want to give him the satisfaction of, Yeah, if we
had just done what you said and sided with you,
everything would be fine, right. So I'm just going to
jump to the end of the episode because I already
talked about them getting introduced to Bartolomeo's ship and just

(57:46):
talk really quickly about Bartolomeo having all of their autographs
and their wanted posters framed, and it's like the new
wanted posters, by the way, it's not the old ones.
So he went and found updated ones and got them
framed and is presenting each of them with their new bounties.
Lufy's at five hundred million berries, so he is the highest. Frankie, wait, no,

(58:13):
who's Robin? Zoro's three hundred and twenty million. The picture
they have of Zoro is very funny too. He's just
got this expression like somebody's spit in his face. Robin
is one hundred and thirty million, Frankie is ninety four million,
and how much is sorry, I'm trying to find the

(58:39):
spot where they because Oosups is like wildly higher than
two hundred million, that's right, and he's like really upset
because of the picture that they're using, but also the
high height of the bounty is very complimentary. Frankie himself
is very annoyed because he doesn't think us Up deserves
to have a higher back teeth than him, and he

(59:00):
is correct. Sangie's is one hundred and seventy seven million berries,
and they actually have a proper photo of him this time,
but he still looks like an idiot because he's got
his heart eyes thing going on. And then Nanny is
at sixty six million, but she posed for hers, which

(59:21):
she's got her hair up in this like sexy but
very very fun. And then once again Chopper eating cotton
candy with a total of one hundred berries, which is
the most insulting shit puts some respect on my boy's name.
I am disgusted. I hate it so much. And then

(59:45):
soul King Brook eighty three million berries, and they use
a poster from his tour. I have to mention it's
very poorly designed because it says dead or alive, but
the ore is squeezed in after dead, and it's just
like it's not it's not well designed, That's all I'm saying.

(01:00:08):
But yeah, so we get like a sort of reset
of everybody figuring out like what place they hold in
the world government size. And then we have the last
scene of the episode, which is a dude who honestly
in profile, looks almost identical to do Flamingo, but obviously isn't,

(01:00:34):
and he's got almost what looks to be like a
bunch of dice in his hand. He eats something and
then he begins to sort of like steam and turn red.
It's giving like when Lufy does third gear and there's
a guy standing out in front of him, I'm assuming
who is like one of his guards. And it was

(01:00:55):
so weird because this guy is standing in a very
bow legged, hunched fashion, and that for a moment made
me think that he was like nailed to a post
behind him and was dead. But I think he's just
got rocket launchers on his back. I don't know what's
going on with either of these guys, and we don't
get any explanation. We just see them and then end

(01:01:18):
of episode. So yeah, I uh oh, oh, yes, thank you.
Florian points out Sanji's poster also says only alive, not
dead or alive like everybody else's does, which they find
a little puzzling. And I also, I don't have any
theories about that, to be honest, I don't think I

(01:01:42):
like it, but I don't have theories. But yeah, so
that is the end of this arc. I'm guessing like
this is it, and I enjoyed it overall. It went
on too long for sure. There were definitely a lot
of things that I was crazy about, but like for
the most part, I actually really liked this one, so

(01:02:04):
I had a good time looking forward to seeing where
we go next. So thank you guys so much for listening,
Thank you Florian for hanging out today, and appreciate you
being here and again working with me when I had
to change the date. I hope you guys are enjoying
the coverage and until next time to Loo motherfuckers. That
