Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey everybody, and welcome. You know, I woke up this
morning and I'm in Charleston, South Carolina, so I'm not
we're talking Tampa today, so I'm not too far from Tampa.
It was a good little drive, but the weather can
be somewhat similar. And I woke up this morning and
I went outside to take the dogs out, and it
was nice outside. You know, I'm thinking spring is really
(00:22):
really close. So that made me think that if it's
this nice in Charleston, South Carolina, it's got to be
incredibly nice in Tampa, Florida. Right, So I think that,
and It's what I'm getting at is now is a
really good time to book that trip to Tampa. Uh
(00:45):
do you go ahead and put everything that we've talked
about in motion and pushed the button. I mean, you
could be down there in two or three weeks and
just have an incredible, incredible weather. So that kind of
leads be one I want to talk about right now.
I want to talk about the weather in Tampa because
it is it's it's pretty good all year, but we're
(01:09):
getting to that time where it's amazing and if you
guys miss out on it, you're not gonna be able
to blame me because I'm telling you to go ahead
and push that button and let's get this thing going
right now. So, as we all know, you know, Tampa
is on the west coast of Florida, and it has
a subtropical climate, and so does Charleston to a degree,
(01:32):
though you know, Tampa's stays a little bit warmer, and
it's it's characterized by warm temperatures and ample sunshine throughout
the year. Right, So it's just it's a good place
to go any time of year, but now maybe the
best time or over the next four weeks. However, understanding
(01:52):
the nuances of Tampa's weather patterns is crucial to planning
the perfect trip. The city's climate is influenced by its
proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, resulting in a relatively
high humidity levels in a distinct wet and dry season.
The average temperature throughout the year rarely dips below freezing,
making Tampa desirable destination during the winter months. However, the
(02:16):
summer months spanning from June to August, are the hottest
and most humid, so in the summer you can expect temperatures,
you know, well into the nineties maybe getting into triple digits,
and then you add in all that humidity, it makes
it very intense. Right, So this period also sees the
(02:36):
highest rainfall, frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and we're talking summer becoming,
you know, common occurrence with those, just heavy downpours. While
the summer showers are often brief and intense, they can
disrupt your outdoor activities and your plans. So make sure
you pack light, breathable clothing, stayed hydrated, maybe a rain
(02:58):
jacket because you would need that in the summer. And
utilize sunscreen please, But at the same time, don't feel
like you have to run from tree to tree or
from umbrella to umbrella. Get a little bit of sun
on your skin. Sun is so good. It's not just
vitamin D. It does wonderful things to your mitochondria, your
(03:18):
testosterone levels, and other hormones. You need some sunshine, Okay.
Don't cover up every inch of your body and run
from a tree, shade tree to shade tree. You're not
going to get You're not going to get the benefits
of the sun. I'm not saying go out there and
put butter and baby oil on yourself and get cooked.
I wouldn't be very smart either, But somewhere in between
(03:39):
is the right place to be. So spring and this
is what I wanted to get to. Okay, Spring is
coming up, so this is March to May, and March
starts at the end of this week of Saturday, Saturday
or Sunday. So listen, now is the time to get
it done, guys. And here's the way it is. In spring.
(04:00):
So spring March to May in fall September to November
offer the most pleasant weather for exploring Tampa. Temperatures are
mild and comfortable, typically ranging from the mid seventies to
low eighties. Now that is perfect to me, right, I
mean that it doesn't get much better than that. Humidity
(04:21):
levels are lower than in the summer. I mean you're
still going to have some humidity and you're still gonna
a little bit rain, but it's all enjoyable. It's not
just tolerable, it's really really nice. So this makes these
seasons ideal for outdoor activities such as walking, tour visiting
the beaches, and exploring the city's numerous parks. The pleasant
(04:45):
weather also enhances the enjoyment of outdour events and festivals.
Winter December to February and Tampa. Now we're just getting
out of that, but I'm going to go ahead and
hit on this real quick. Is relatively mild compared to
other parts of the country. Average temperatures range from the
mid sixties to the low seventies, which isn't bad. So
(05:09):
while it's unlikely to snow, though in Charleston we had
snow twice this year, which is unusual. One was like
three or four inches, which is really unusual. Occasional cool
fronts can bring a noticeable drop in temperatures. A company
by higher winds packed layers of clothing if you have
to go, or maybe right now, if you're heading down
that way right now, you probably do want to take
(05:30):
something warmer, because I guarantee you we're going to have
maybe one more little cold snap before we really get
into the spring. Rainfall distribution also significantly impacts the best
time to visit the wet season, like we said earlier,
is during the summer months we see the highest rainfall.
While this rain is usually brief, it's kind I don't
(05:53):
know if you've ever been to you know, like the
Caribbean right and you can just see those storms coming
and then they hit and then ten minutes later they're gone.
So that's kind of like the way Tampa is. You know,
it doesn't put a complete damper on your day. It's
actually kind of cool. You know. That's when you can
(06:15):
get off the beach, go find that tiki bar and
refuel a little bit, and then when that's over head
back out to the beach or whatever your activity may be.
I know, Tampa isn't really beach front, but there's some
beaches very close by. So the dry season, which typically
runs from November to April, so we are all about
that right now, offers a consistently drier condition, ideal for
(06:38):
outdoor adventures and minimizing interruptions to your itinerary. However, even
during the dry season of cano, occasional showers are possible.
I mean, it looks tropical in Tampa, right, so there's
got to be some rain that comes around or around,
or you wouldn't have all that greenery and tropical foliage.
So beyond the average temperatures and rainfall, the humidity, all right,
(07:01):
because that is important. Tampa's humidity levels are generally high
through the year, but they're very tolerable in the shoulder months.
In the winter months. So the summer, however, it's like
we have here in Charles Man, it can be humid.
I mean you just like you go outside to the
mailbox or just outside and you are drenched because there's
(07:26):
nowhere for that perspiration to go. It does not evaporate.
The high humidity can make the heat feel even more intense.
So it's essential to stay hydrated, to take breaks with
exploring outdoors and during warmer months. Now, listen, staying hydrated
does not mean just drinking bottled water. Okay, there's no
electrolytes in bottled water unless you buy some that has them,
(07:49):
and I suggest you do that. You can actually become
very dehydrated drinking nothing but bottled water. It actually starts
to bleach the the the minerals and stuff out of
your system because there's so much water. It causes an imbalance.
So have some you know, get a little tablet, throw
(08:10):
it in your water in the morning. You can even
put some hydrating things in your coffee in the morning,
which is kind of sounds crazy, caffeine you know, and
then hydrating, But it does work. It really does. So
the best time of visit Tampa, I'm telling you us,
right now, but largely depends on your personal preferences and
(08:32):
planned activities. Right So, if you are one of those
people that you know doesn't like the heat, well stay
out there in the summer and go now. So it's
important to plan accordingly, and heat related illnesses should be
avoided if you're there in the summer and also late
spring early fall. Consider the seasonal events and festivals when
(08:58):
planning your trip. To So hosts many events throughout the year,
including the Gasparilla Pirate Festival. This is held in January,
so that's already gone, but you can plan for next year.
The Florida Strawberry Festival in March that is coming up.
I love strawberries or strawberries, excuse me. And various concerts
(09:21):
and culture events. So just check, you know, check the
Tampa website and they have a lot of those those
things that are upcoming for you right there. So, for
beach lovers, the warm, sunny months of spring and fall
are perfect for enjoying the beautiful beaches in and around Tampa. Now,
if I'm on a beach, I'll go there in the
(09:42):
summer too. I mean, we have obviously beaches all over
Charleston and it can be one hundred degrees outside, but
as soon as you're next to the beach, you got
that breeze blowing, you got sometimes pretty cool water temperatures,
and it feels good. As soon as you get past
the dunes inland, oh, it's a different story. I mean,
it's like some just hit you upside the head with
a shovel. So if you are planning some water based
(10:04):
activities like swimming, boating, jet skiing, then researching the monthly
average water temperature may influence your choice. Winter months can
be suitable for walking along the beach, but may be
too cool to extend water activities in the water. But
you know, everybody has a different tolerance, right we do
the Polar Bear plunge here on January first, New Year's
(10:27):
Day in Charleston at right there at Doune Levy's Pub.
Ever been to dune Leve's on Sullivan's Island, you know
what I'm talking about. If you haven't been, I'm a
little plug for dune Leaves right now, And with Saint
Patrick's Day coming up, that's hard to beat. So in summer,
understand Tampa's climate is key to planning the successful trip.
By considering the average temperature, rainfall, humidity, and seasonal events.
(10:51):
You can choose the time of year the best suit
your preferences and desired activities, allowing you to make the
most of your Tampa adventure. So you know, like I said,
well you could we can be planning, you know, for
the fall or even into the winter. But if you're
(11:11):
ready for a trip now to a place that's that's city,
that that's a vibrant that has beaches very close by
and some really nice beaches and just has a ton
of things to do, and you're looking for the right weather,
now's the time. Book it. If you can get away
in the next two weeks, do it. And let me
(11:31):
tell you right now, if I could do it, I
do it. So anyway, I just I hope that this
will like kind of you know, push you in the
right direction, and you get off your button. Push that
button and head on down to Tampa. It's easy. We've
already talked a lot about Tampa and how to book
and where to book and what the book, and where
to eat and how to get there and all that
(11:51):
kind of good stuff. So that's all I can say
is now it's up to you get down there and
get it done have some fun, all right. Well, that's
it for me and until I see you next time.
God bless y' all.
