Apple previewed iOS 18, showcasing new customization options, a major redesign of the Photos app, innovative ways to manage inboxes in Mail, and Messages over satellite. Users can now arrange apps and widgets freely on the Home Screen, customize Lock Screen buttons, and access more controls in Control Center. Photos now automatically organizes libraries into a single view, making favorite collections easily accessible. Mail categorizes emails using on-device intelligence, and iMessage gets new text effects. Users can now communicate over satellite in Messages when cellular or Wi-Fi is unavailable.
iOS 18 also introduces Apple Intelligence, a personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Combining generative models with personal context, it delivers relevant and useful intelligence, all built with privacy in mind. Integrated deeply into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, Apple Intelligence uses Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, streamline tasks, and draw from personal context.
