🚀 Carnivore Diet 80/20: The Performance Plate That Super-charges Entrepreneurial Output

You can scale a company to seven (even eight) figures, but if you’re fuelling that machine with pizza, pints and pain-killers, your body, and eventually your balance-sheet, will stall. I’ve lived both extremes: a wine-soaked, fast-food comfort-trap that left me bloated, foggy and short-tempered, and a meat-first protocol that turned me into a high-output locomotive.

This episode hands you The Carnivore Entrepreneur Performance Plate™: an 80/20, animal-protein-anchored framework that lets you torch fat, sharpen focus, and still enjoy planned treats without sliding back into chaos. It’s the system I built after two brutal wake-up calls (2015 and 2021) and refined with science from Cell Metabolism, The Lancet, and the New England Journal of Medicine.

🥩 What you’ll hear

• The “mirror moments” that exposed how junk fuel was wrecking my family, finances and frame
 • Why single-ingredient animal protein beats calorie-counting, macro-tetris and vegan “health bars”
 • The 80/20 rule that keeps you human, social and sustainable, without stalling progress
 • Fasting & electrolytes decoded: how 18 or 36-hour fasts trigger autophagy, ketones and sky-high BDNF
 • A sample day of eating (and the science that explains why it obliterates brain-fog)
 • Seven-Day Performance Challenge: track energy, focus and lifts to prove the framework on your own body
 • Rapid-fire rebuttals to the three biggest myths: “Red meat kills,” “Protein wrecks kidneys,” “Fasting slows metabolism”
• How dialling in nutrition becomes the keystone habit that unlocks sharper strategy, calmer leadership and a fatter bottom line

⚙️ Why it matters

Most entrepreneurs attack growth with sheer willpower while ignoring the fuel that drives willpower in the first place. When you eat like a predator, meat, eggs, fish, seasonal plants, your hormones stabilise, inflammation drops, and decision-fatigue evaporates. That means better deals signed, cash-flow issues spotted earlier, and more patience for the people you love. The Performance Plate links your body, mind and bank-account in one repeatable system, so success in the kitchen compounds everywhere else.

Unknown (00:00):
Have you ever woken up one morning, stumble into the

(00:02):
bathroom, look in the mirror andjust freeze. You're staring at
yourself, and this thought hitsyou like a freight train. How
the did I let it get this bad?
Your gut is spilling over yourbelt. Your energy is so low that
you're dragging yourself throughthe day like a zombie on
autopilot. You're out of breathtying your bloody shoes and
something you used to do withouta second thought, like tying

(00:25):
your shoes and your mind. It's amess, foggy. It's scattered,
like you're running on fumesinstead of fire. You don't even
recognise the man staring backat you in the mirror. I've been
there twice, and I know how itfeels to lose that edge, to feel
like your body is betraying you, like you're not in control of

(00:46):
your own life anymore. It's likea gut punch. It's humiliating,
but it's also a bloody wake upcall, if you're willing to
listen. The first time that thishappened was in 2015 I was stuck
in what I call now the comforttrap. Picture this me slumped on
the couch every night, wine inhand, phone in the other hand,

(01:06):
ordering takeaways, greasykebabs dripping with sauce,
pizzas loaded with processedcheese and curry, swimming in
oil. My stomach was a war zone.
Loose bowels, bloating, constantdiscomfort from all that junk,
plus the codeine painkillers I'dpop just to dull the aches of a

(01:27):
body that I wasn't taking careof. I'd tell myself, it's fine.
I'm still hitting the gym.
Sometimes I'm still working. I'mstill getting by, but I wasn't
getting by. I was losing muscle.
My arms and chest were shrinkingwhile my gut was growing, I was
piling on fat, soft rollscreeping over my jeans. And the
worst part I was losing mydrive. I dreaded the gym. I used

(01:51):
to love it, and now it felt likea chore. I'd sit at my desk
staring at a screen, mind blank, just waiting for the day to end
so that I could crack open abowl and order more crap food
not living, that isn't living,mate that's drifting. Then I
found Tony Robbins, his voice, his energy. It was like a slap

(02:12):
in the face waking me up from acoma that I didn't know I was
in. I realised my body wasn'tjust slowing me down. It was
controlling me. I was apassenger in my own life,
letting bread, sugar andprocessed meat wreck me. So I
flipped the switch. I went in onone rule, if you can't grow it
or kill it, don't eat it. Nomore processed garbage, just

(02:34):
real food, meat, veg, fruit, andwithin weeks, my fat melted off
like ice in a furnace. My energyroared back. I felt like a lion
again. My mind sharpened and Icould think straight, plan and
execute. I wasn't driftinganymore. I was in the driving
seat. But then in 2021 again, Ifell off the waggon COVID hit,

(02:58):
and my business made tonnes ofmoney, and I thought, let's
bloody enjoy this. I had drinksevery night, beer, wine,
whiskey. It didn't matter.
Eating out was like a sport, restaurants, fast food, going
out, everything, whatever itsounded, good. My sciatica
flared up again. It was sharp, stabbing, stabbing, pain
shooting down my leg, and I wentstraight back to the painkillers

(03:20):
to numb it. At first, it wasfun, celebrating living large.
I'd earn it right wrong. Thatdidn't last. Soon, I was waking
up every night, sweating throughmy sheets, my body drenched like
I'd run a marathon in my sleep.
My stomach was a disaster, loosestools every morning, bloating
so bad that I'd have to unbuttonmy jeans after eating. I'd snap

(03:43):
at Kay over nothing, justgrumpy, short tempered, no
patience. The kids would runaround. I'd be too wiped out to
play, just barking at them toquieten down in business, I
missed cash flow issues creepingup, big ones that could have
wrecked us because my head wastoo foggy to see straight I'd
climb the stairs and be out ofbreath like, what the hell. I

(04:06):
looked down at my belly one dayand saw it spilling over, and I
thought, How did I let thishappen again? And that was it.
Enough. Was enough. I went backto what worked, but this time, I
didn't just wing it. I built itinto something solid, the primal
fuel framework I added in the8020 rule to keep it
sustainable. And today I'mhanding it to you because I know

(04:28):
that you felt that Mirror Mirrormoment too. Right now I'm
talking to two kinds of peoplelistening to this. First,
there's you, the risingcarnivore. You're the aspiring
entrepreneur grinding 16 hours aday to build something massive.
You're skipping meals becauseyou're too busy, or grabbing
cheap junk, McDonald's cornershop sandwiches because you

(04:50):
think I don't have time to cook,or I can't afford good food.
Yet, you're running on caffeineand willpower, maybe a Red Bull,
thinking that that's enough tokeep you going. But let me tell
you, if your body's running onempty or worse, on poison, your
business will stall. You can'tbuild an empire on a foundation
of crap fuel you're burning outbefore you've even gotten

(05:12):
started. And it's not yourhustle that's failing you, it's
your fuel tank. Then there's thesuccessful but stuck
entrepreneur. You've made yourmoney. You've got the business
rolling, the house, the car, maybe the holiday home, but your
edge, it's slipping. You're notseeing problems in your company
until they're too big to ignore, missed deadlines, staff issues,

(05:34):
cash flow dips. You're givingyour family the leftovers of
your energy snapping at yourspouse over petty stuff, too
tired to kick the ball with yourkids, your body's slowing down,
aches, fatigue, a gut you can'thide anymore, and it's dragging
your mind and your bank accountdown with it. You're stuck
because your fuel is failingyou, not your ambition. If

(05:56):
either of these hit you in thechest, good, that's your wake up
call, because what you eat isn'tjust about your waistline. It's
about your wealth, yourrelationships and your legacy.
It's the key to unlocking ahealthy body, a sharp mind and a
thriving bank account. Mostentrepreneurs, they don't see

(06:17):
it. They think food's just food, but it's not it's the foundation
of everything. Let's dig deeperinto those moments that broke me
so back in 2015 I was a messbread, sugar, processed meat.
These were my staples. I'dsmashed a sandwich for lunch,
white bread, ham mayo, thinkingit was healthy because it had a

(06:39):
slice of lettuce on it or somemeat inside of it. By 2pm I'd
crash hard, sluggish, bloated, barely able to focus. My
digestion was shot loose stoolsevery day, feeling heavy and
gross. I'd look at my reflectionand see this guy who used to be
strong, fit, driven, now justsoft, tired, a shadow of

(06:59):
himself. It wasn't until Idusted off some old nutrition
books from my personal trainingdays, stuff my dad taught me
about growing his own veg in thegarden, the penny actually
dropped. Single ingredient foodmade sense. It's how we're wired
to eat,how we ate as primates, before
factories and fridges. So I cutthe junk. Started with steak,

(07:22):
eggs, veg. The fog lifted. Mybody felt light again. I was
back in the driving seat. Thenin 2021 it hit me like a
sledgehammer. Picture this, I'mslumped on the couch, glass of
wine in one hand, take out offried chicken on my lap or
kebab, and my sciatica isscreaming sharp pain radiating

(07:45):
down my leg. Kay's trying totalk to me about something,
maybe the kids, maybe the house, but I'm short tempered,
distracted brushing her off. Thekids are running around
laughing, and I'm too white tojoin in just barking them to
quiet down. In business, Imissed a cash flow dip that
could have wiped us out, and Ididn't even see it coming

(08:07):
because my head was a mess.
That's when I knew bad fuelwasn't just hurting my body, it
was screwing my family and myfuture. So in 2022 I refined it
took inspiration from guys likeEddie Abu whole food warriors
online, and made it my own.
Added the 8020 rule, 80% primaland 20% treat so I wouldn't go

(08:29):
crazy. Something wild happened.
My body transformed. Fat went.
Energy through the roof. No morebloating. Then my mind cleared.
I started my daily focus andflow framework because I could
finally think straight. And thenin 2023 we levelled up our
business finances. Josh Keeganand Chris Porter helped us get

(08:51):
clarity on our numbers, and itall started with food, fix the
fuel, and everything else fallsinto place. So let's go into the
facts, because this isn't justme ranting. It's proven your
body's a machine, a highperformance engine. Fuel it with
rubbish and it sputters. Fuel itright and it roars. First up

(09:12):
Whole Foods, a 2019 study incell metabolism by Kevin Hall
showed something mind blowing.
They took two groups. One ateUltra processed food, like
bread, chewy cereals, processedmeats, and other ate Whole
Foods, like steak, eggs, veg.
The processed group ate 500 morecalories a day without even

(09:35):
noticing, and gained weight. Thewhole food group ate less
naturally, lost fat and feltbetter, all without counting a
damn thing. Why processed junk, bread, sugar, seed oils, spikes
your insulin, screws with hungerhormones like ghrelin and keeps
you craving more singleingredient foods, they're

(09:57):
stable. Nutrient dense, notcalorie bombs. Meat, eggs, veg.
They fill you up, fuel you up,and have no crashes. Then
there's protein, animal proteincomplete. It's got all the amino
acids your body needs to buildmuscle, boost testosterone and
sharpen your brain. A 2016 studythe American Journal of Clinical

(10:20):
Nutrition, found high proteindiets. Think steak, eggs fish,
improve muscle retention, rampup your metabolism and clear
your head. Plant protein oftenincomplete. You need piles of it
to match the meat protein, andmost of it's processed. Anyways,
I tell people you don't seelions munching kale for protein.

(10:41):
We're built for this singleingredient, primal fuel, right?
Fasting is next. And, yeah, I'mgoing deep here because it's a
game changer. I fast from 4pm to10am 18 hours. Sometimes when
I'm cutting fat, I do a 36 hourfast once a week, and stop 4pm
one day, skip the next and eatagain the day after the first

(11:03):
few times. It's brutal, cravingsare hit hard between 11am and
5pm my brain is screaming for asandwich or a beer. Social stuff
was worse out with mates.
Everyone's eating burgers andloads of food, and I'm sipping
water feeling like the odd oneout. But workouts, they made it

(11:23):
easier. Hunger fades when you'relifting heavy, once I got the
rhythm, stop eating a few hoursbefore bed, skip breakfast. It
was simple. The payoff, though,is insane clarity like you
wouldn't believe I get my bestwork done. Fasted, razor, sharp
focus in short bursts, I've hitmy personal best in the gym.

(11:45):
More power, more intenseintensity. A 2018 review in the
New England Journal of Medicinebacks this up fast triggers
autophagy, where your cellsclean out junk, boost fat loss,
and shifts your brain to ketonesfor sharper focus. A 2020 study
in cell reports found it rampsup brain derived nootropic

(12:08):
factor, which is BDNF, basicallyfertiliser for your mind. Plus
fat, melts off, sleeps deeper,no bloating, only catch break
along, fast, gently, too heavy, you know, like a big burger, and
your stomach rebels it. So don'tgo too heavy after a long fast
hydration is the final piecewater alone weak. You need

(12:31):
electrolytes, sodium, potassium, magnesium, to make it all work.
A 2015 study in the Journal ofClinical Investigation showed
electrolytes help your cellsabsorb water better, keeping you
energised and not drained. Istart with one litre of water
with Celtic sea salt. It tastessalty, but it wakes me up. Then
two litres of hydrogen waterwith electrolytes throughout the

(12:53):
day, I take magnesium tabletstoo, keeps cramps away, helps me
sleep. It's like jet fuel foryour system. Try it and you'll
feel the difference. Here's theframework that I'm talking
about. It's simple, not easy, but it works like a charm. If
you can't grow it or kill it,don't eat it. Meat, eggs, fish,
veg, fruit, that's your menu. Nobread, no sugar, no processed

(13:17):
meat. My go to meal, steak, eggs, avocado, spinach and kiwi
tastes incredible, keeps me fullfor hours, no bloating and pure
power. Prioritise protein.
Animal protein is king. Beef, lamb, salmon, chicken, nutrient
dense is complete, builds youup. Don't waste time with half
measures like protein bars. Savethat for your 20% hydration and

(13:40):
electrolytes, water with Celticsea salt or electrolytes,
sodium, potassium, magnesiumdrink one litre of salted water.
First thing, two litres ofelectrolytes later, plus
magnesium tablets, if you can,it keeps me sharp with no
crashes. Then we've got the 8020rule, 80% primal meat, veg,
fruit, and then 20% treats, abeer, some berries with yoghurt.

(14:03):
Keeps me sane, keeps mesustainable, maybe a protein
bar. And you're you know, youwork, you're well on your way.
Fasting is my edge, but it'soptional. I stop at 4pm and eat
again at 10am which is 18 hoursonce a week. I might stretch it
to 36 as mentioned before, whencutting, stop one afternoon,
skip the day, and then eat thenext. First few tries were

(14:24):
rough. Cravings hit me like atidal wave. Between 11 at 11am
and 5pm my brain was begging forfood. Going out was the hardest.
Everyone's chowing down and I'msipping water, dodging
questions. But workouts flippedit. Lifting heavy kills hunger.
Fast doing CV kills hunger aswell. Once I locked in the
rhythm, stop a few hours beforebed, skip breakfast. It was just

(14:45):
second nature. The benefitsclarity from fasting is off the
charts. I get my best work done.
Fasted, shorter burst withhigher output. Gym gains. I hit
personal best. More focus, morestrength. Sleep is deeper. Fat
drops off, no bloating, andscience backs it. Autophagy

(15:05):
cleans your cells. Ketonessharpen your mind. BDNF boosts
your brain, breaking along fast.
Just remember, if you'rebreaking along fast, start light
eggs, not a burger, or yourstomach will hate you don't
fancy fasting. That's not aproblem. Eat three primal meals,
steak and eggs at 8am salmon andveg at 1pm chicken and spirit
spinach at 6pm same results, just slower. It's your body.

(15:29):
Make sure that you listen to it.
People push back all the time.
Here's what I hear and whythey're wrong. There's so much
meat. Won't that hurt me? Nope.
A, 2021, study in The Lancettrashed the red meat causes
heart disease. Myth, processedmeat is the villain, not fresh

(15:50):
cuts, fresh meat loaded withiron, zinc. B 12, some people
say too much protein is bad. Isay that's bullshit. Your body
thrives on it. Studies show noharm, unless you've got issues,
fasting slows your metabolism.
Does it really wrong again? A2016 study in obesity showed
fasting preserves muscle, boostsfat burning and your metabolism

(16:14):
adapts, not crashes. Some peoplesay that calories are all that
matter. That's the biggest lieout there. 500 calories of steak
versus 500 calories of bread.
One fuels you for hours, theother bloats you and leaves you
hungry. Quality is everythingwhen it comes to calories, so

(16:35):
get the quality first, thenthink about calories. If you're
busy grill steak and eggs in 10minutes. Done travelling. Get a
steakhouse. Skip the fries. It'seasy. Family dinner. Cook extra
meat and let them add sides. Ido it all the time. My day
again, at 10am I salmon eggs,avocado,
kiwi, 500 grammes of Greekyoghurt with berries. If I'm

(16:58):
hungry at 4pm I'll have steak, spinach, maybe a sweet potato if
I'm bulking and fast untiltomorrow, it's simple,
repeatable and powerful. Here'syour shot. Seven days. Eat only
what you can grow or kill. Nojunk, no excuses. Add Celtic sea
salt to your water and feel thedifference. Try fasting if your

(17:20):
game 16 hours minimum, push itto 18 if you can, and track it,
energy focus and gymperformance. Track it. Get it.
Get it down. Record how you'vedone on those things. Don't just
trust me. Dig into the scienceyourself. Look up Kevin Hall's
2019 study on processed foods incell metabolism. Read the 2018

(17:40):
fasting review in the NewEngland Journal of Medicine, and
check the lancet 2021 on me.
Prove me right, or prove mewrong. Either way, you'll know
when I cut the junk, I stoppeddrifting. I started driving. My
body, my mind, my business. Ifeel bigger than any challenge
now, like a lion ready to takeon the world. You can too fuel
