The Conservative Rebel (00:00):
Today on
The Conservative Rebel, most
Americans all across thepolitical spectrum have been
indoctrinated from childhoodinto supporting the left's
morally depraved definition ofliberty.
You've probably been told thatliberty is the freedom to do
whatever you want, whenever youwant, as long as you don't hurt
(00:20):
anyone.
Every word of that is a lie,and it's a lie that's destroying
our country.
In under half an hour, we'lldiscuss what liberty is, what
liberty isn't, and what all ofthis means for you and the
future of your country.
You won't want to miss today'sepisode of The Conservative
(00:40):
Rebel.
Anyone who pays attention topartisan elections will notice a
surprising pattern.
Both the Republican and theDemocrat candidate reliably use
(01:04):
the exact same words to drum upsupport from voters.
Words like liberty, democracy,and freedom.
Both the Republican and theDemocrat claim to be fighting
for these noble things, and boththe Republican and the Democrat
claim the other party isdestroying those things.
(01:27):
That's why we'll reliably hearlargely the same copy-and-paste
feel-good platitudes frompoliticians of both parties
every single election.
Is this evidence that thepartisan divide in our country
isn't nearly as bad as we thinkit is?
Is this proof that Americansstill do share common values and
(01:52):
ideals?
Is this a much-needed reminderthat there are good people on
both sides, that we truly dohave more in common with each
other than we have dividing us?
Of course not.
The reason right-wingers andleft-wingers use the same words
isn't because we have anythingin common.
(02:13):
It's because we're so dividedwe mean completely different
things, even though we're usingthe exact same words.
The reason virtually everyvoter in the country thinks
liberty and freedom are good isbecause liberty and freedom have
(02:35):
become worse They can meananything to anyone, anywhere.
And that's why politicians loveto use them so much.
(02:55):
It's not because they'reprincipled people who genuinely
care about your rights.
They couldn't care less aboutyou or your rights or your
interests, obviously.
Instead, they use these wordsbecause they are perfect tools
to exploit people's ignoranceand drum up support for their
(03:19):
campaigns and their causes.
They're like the peanut buttera dog owner coats a pill with, a
convenient way to cloak thedarkness of their true designs
and scam the population intoeagerly eating up the filth
they're trying to feed them.
Today, we're going to try togive an objective definition to
(03:42):
the most important word in thepropagandist's toolkit, liberty.
Because true liberty is theexact opposite of what you think
it is.
The leftists who dominate ourculture deliberately conflate
the incompatible concepts ofliberty and license.
(04:04):
License is the absence ofrestraint.
License is the ability to dowhatever you want, however you
want, whenever you want, withoutanyone stopping you.
Nothing is required of you.
Nothing is expected of you.
You have no moral obligationsto your family, to your country,
(04:27):
to God.
You are an atomized individual, totally separate from the rest
of society.
You're emancipated from allaccountability to anyone other
than yourself.
The only thing you can neverdo, the only sin you must avoid,
the only crime you can evercommit, is the crime of
(04:51):
interfering with the way othersuse their license.
In the original Enlightenmentliberal view, you could only do
this by using force or violenceon others.
So as long as you didn't killanyone, you were basically free
to do whatever you wanted.
This is what the moreold-school liberals believe in,
(05:16):
which means this is what mostestablishment conservatives
believe in, who as you know aremostly just Bill Clinton
liberals.
But the view of modern leftistsis somehow even worse than this
one.
The most obvious reason is thatmodern liberals not only accept
(05:36):
but worship violence, especially against the most
vulnerable people in the world, like the 64 million unborn
children these people havemurdered in the US alone since
Roe v.
Wade, or the innocent childrenthey castrate and mutilate in
the name of transgenderism.
Traditionally, the only moralrequirement of liberalism was to
(06:03):
not harm other people.
But at least that was a realmoral requirement.
Violence against innocentpeople is objectively wrong, I
hope we can all agree.
But modern liberalism doesn'teven have that moral
requirement.
The only moral requirement ofmodern liberalism is apathy,
(06:29):
which isn't a moral requirementat all.
All you have to do to be a goodperson is completely focus on
yourself and your life, andavoid ever judging others for
any of the terrible decisionsthey're making, or ever daring
to suggest to anyone thatthere's such a thing as
(06:51):
objective truth or an objectivemoral law that they're breaking.
The only moral requirement isthat you commit the sin of
apathy.
Before, the one and only sinagainst liberalism was violence.
Now, the one and only sin ismoral judgment.
(07:14):
Before, liberalism was immoral.
But now, liberalism is amoral.
This is what license is.
It's moral lawlessness.
It's a recipe for depravity,chaos, and dysfunction.
Whenever a leftist shrieksabout liberty, freedom, rights,
(07:36):
autonomy, choice, or any othergood-sounding but conveniently
undefined word, this is whathe's demanding.
He's demanding the destructionof the moral fiber of our
society.
In short, license is theabsence of restraint, the
(07:56):
absence of judgment, the absenceof consequences, the absence of
accountability.
License means you get to dowhatever you want and sin as
much as you want.
That is what the leftist meanswhen he screams about liberty.
But real liberty is a differentthing entirely.
(08:20):
But what is that differentthing?
We know what liberty isn't, butdo we know what liberty is?
The great British statesmanLord Acton came up with the best
answer to that pressingquestion I've ever heard.
As his famous quote goes, liberty is not the power of
(08:43):
doing what we like, but theright to do what we ought.
Liberty can't exist, in otherwords, without some form of
restraint.
Liberty isn't a value-neutralcondition.
It must be ordered toward thegood.
Just like the government needsto protect the life and property
(09:08):
of its citizens in order for afree society to exist, it also
has to protect religion andmorality.
It has to order freedom towardthe good.
This is what John Adams meantwhen he famously said, We have
no government armed with powercapable of contending with human
(09:33):
passions, unbridled by moralityand religion.
Our constitution was made for amoral and religious people.
It is wholly inadequate to thegovernment of any other.
Because liberty is the right todo what we ought, it's
impossible for an immoral, irreligious people to be free.
(09:58):
Not because they'll abuse theliberty they have, but because
they never had liberty in thefirst place.
Definitionally, they cannothave it.
As Benjamin Franklin said, onlya virtuous people are capable
of freedom.
As nations become corrupt andvicious, they have more need of
(10:23):
masters.
Leftists will be very angry atyou, of course, if you ever dare
to suggest this.
You can't impose your moralityon others, they'll say.
Freedom of religion, separationof church and state.
But when they say that, theydon't really believe what
(10:43):
they're saying.
By telling us we're not allowedto impose our morality on
others, they're imposing theirliberal morality on us, even
though they're too stupid toeven realize it.
In order to argue that youcan't impose moral beliefs on
(11:03):
others, they're forced to imposetheir moral beliefs on others.
Their ideology is so insanethat they can't even articulate
it without proving themselveswrong.
Just by making that argument, they destroy their entire
(11:26):
worldview.
In order for liberals to beright, they'd have to be wrong.
The other weaponized,meaningless platitude you'll
always hear these people bringup is, we need to respect other
people's choices.
Real liberty means you can liveyour life freely, making
(11:48):
whatever choices you want.
That's what we're told.
We can never judge anyone'smoral choices, anyone's
lifestyle choices.
Choice is deified.
Never judge people for choices.
You hear this especially in theabortion debate, where liberals
(12:08):
advertise their satanic deathcult dedicated to the mass
murder of unborn children withthe more palatable label,
pro-choice.
We just think women should beable to make their own choices,
they say.
There's just one small problemwith that logic.
(12:29):
Some choices are bad.
I know I probably just blewyour mind there, so I'll say
that one more time.
Some choices are bad.
Some choices, like abortion, are even off the charts evil.
In fact, every single act ofevil that has ever been
(12:54):
committed in all of humanhistory happened because someone
made the, wait for it, choiceto commit that act of evil.
Just because someone made thechoice to do something doesn't
mean that we should let him dothat thing, and it definitely
(13:16):
doesn't mean that we're notallowed to judge him for that
thing.
So this idea that we can neverever restrict the choices other
people make is insane.
If you've listened to so far ofthis podcast, I have a feeling
you're interested in it.
And if that's true, pleaseconsider leaving a review
(13:39):
wherever you're listening tothis podcast.
Now, let's get back to theepisode.
The other incredibly stupidargument you'll hear leftists
make that somehow is even worsethan that one is, you can't
legislate morality.
You're trying to legislatemorality.
(13:59):
Don't listen to that guy.
He's trying to legislatemorality.
Dirty fascist.
As if that's some obvious factthat everyone should know.
As if legislating morality issome scary, tyrannical thing we
could never ever under anycircumstances do.
(14:21):
Actually, yes, we can legislatemorality.
Not only should we legislatemorality, we have to legislate
morality, or civilization dies.
And you agree with that.
Everyone agrees we should havelaws against things like murder.
(14:43):
Unless it's defenseless babieswho are being murdered, then
everyone agrees murder should beillegal.
So ask yourself this.
Why?
Does everyone agree that murdershould be illegal?
The answer is simple.
Murder is morally wrong.
(15:04):
You can't squirm your way outof this one no matter how hard
you try.
This is game over for you.
You can try to say, oh, well,we have laws against murder
because murder hurts people andit's bad for society and so on,
but that doesn't work, I'msorry.
Because then you have to ask,why should I care what hurts
(15:28):
people, and why should I carewhat's bad for society?
The answer is because it'smorally wrong to not care about
hurting people or to not careabout causing harm to society.
So there's no escape for theliberals on this one.
(15:51):
It all comes down to murder isimmoral, so we should have laws
against it.
It all comes down to murder isimmoral, so we should legislate
morality to make sure peopledon't do it.
If you think there should belaws against murder, that means
(16:14):
you agree that morality needs tobe legislated.
And it's not just murder.
Every single law that anygovernment in the history of the
world ever enacts, ever, is anexample of legislating morality.
Laws against murder, theft, assault, arson, kidnapping, home
(16:36):
invasion, fraud, perjury,treason, drug trafficking,
domestic violence, abuse, andevery other crime on the face of
the planet...
Saying that...
Our laws can never legislatemorality is the same exact thing
(17:14):
as saying that all lawswhatsoever should be abolished
and we should have totalanarchy.
So yes, I do think we shouldlegislate morality for the
simple reason that I'm not anidiot.
And if you're not an idiot, youagree.
Of course, this doesn't meanthat Every single wrong thing
(17:39):
should be banned by thegovernment.
Not every immoral thing risesto the level that the state has
a right to get involved,obviously.
But a lot more things rise tothat level than people think.
Than most conservatives eventhink.
When immorality threatens life, when it threatens the innocence
(18:04):
of children, when it threatensthe nuclear family or the moral
fabric of our nation.
The state doesn't just have aright, it has a duty to act.
Abortion, euthanasia, andtransgenderism definitely do
rise to that level, even by thelogic of Enlightenment
(18:24):
liberalism, because all of theminvolve violence, mutilation,
and harm against innocentpeople.
But even a lot of non-violentthings that are eating away at
the moral fabric of our countryrise to that level.
Things like so-called gaymarriage and gay adoption,
(18:47):
adultery, public obscenity, druguse, and so on.
These evils pose an existentialthreat to the morality and
virtue of our country.
Laws restricting or banningthings like these wouldn't
attack liberty, they wouldreinforce it.
(19:07):
When liberty is ordered towardthe good, the likelihood of
tyranny doesn't increase, itdecreases.
As Patrick Henry said, it iswhen a people forget God that
tyrants forge their chains.
So those who worship unlimitedstate power have a vested
(19:31):
interest in destroying the moralfiber of the country they
govern.
They want to destroy all socialhierarchy and authority.
They want to end all moralresponsibility and
accountability.
They want to atomize theindividual by breaking up the
(19:52):
nuclear family, destroyingtraditional gender roles,
dissolving Christianity.
rooting out everything thatinstills meaning and value and
moral clarity in people's lives, and then convincing the people
they are slowly but steadilyenslaving to go along with all
(20:15):
of it enthusiastically by lyingto them and claiming that
they're just giving them morechoices and giving them more
liberty when literally they areactually destroying liberty.
Then, once they've accomplishedthis, the only source of
authority, the only source oftruth, becomes the omnipotent
(20:40):
power of the government.
God is dethroned and Caesar isdeified in his place.
Because of this, the truebelievers in liberty and limited
government recognize thenecessity of ordering that
liberty toward the good throughlaws like this.
(21:00):
And statists who worshipunlimited government power will
strongly oppose any attempt toprotect virtue and morality
because a moral and virtuouspeople cannot be enslaved.
This explains why modernleftists want communism and
(21:24):
unlimited state power over everyaspect of our lives, but at the
same time are somehow totalanarchists on so many other
issues.
This is why they're totalauthoritarians but they allow
criminals to turn their citiesinto crime-ridden cesspools, and
(21:45):
why they welcome millions ofcriminal aliens invaders with
open arms to destroy our nationand its culture.
This is why California is ananarcho-tyranny.
The leftists like Gavin Newsom, who run it, know that the only
way to realize their vision ofglobalism and communism is to
(22:09):
destroy morality and nationalidentity.
This also explains why trueconservatives, who want
radically limited government andthe destruction of the deep
state, support mass deportationsand bans on certain moral
depravities.
Both groups understand thatliberty cannot exist without
(22:36):
virtue.
So the people who want todestroy liberty want to destroy
virtue, and the people who wantto restore liberty want to
restore virtue.
In short, not only is license,or the leftist concept of
liberty, totally different thanreal liberty, license is the
(23:00):
opposite of liberty.
It isn't the right to do whatwe ought, it's the right to do
what we ought not.
It's a form of tyranny that'sall the more destructive because
the people suffering under ithave no idea that they're
slaves.
The equation of liberty withlicense has completely destroyed
(23:26):
the moral fiber of our country.
This is the lie that destroyedAmerica.
Leftists have exploited thepeople's ignorance on this topic
to justify abortion,transgenderism, so-called gay
marriage and gay adoption, druglegalization, feminism, and a
(23:47):
million other terrible things.
In all these cases, our betterstold us that we were required
to tolerate and accept theseglaring evils and the people who
committed them because weneeded to restore the rights and
liberty of people we disagreedwith like good obedient
(24:09):
Americans.
Even when they inflictirreversible harm on innocent
children, we can't judge.
We have to stand back and allowwomen to murder their unborn
children by the tens of millionsbecause it's our duty to
respect their choices.
We have to accept or eventolerate transgenderism and LGBT
(24:34):
cultism because we're toldthat's their right.
You can point to a millionother examples.
These are just two of the mostprominent ones.
To sum up, the right and theleft have two warring ideas of
liberty.
The left sees liberty aslicense, dysfunction, sin, and
(24:59):
depravity.
True right-wingers see libertyas inseparable from religion,
virtue, and morality.
The left sees liberty as thepower to do bad.
The right sees liberty as thefreedom to do good.
For decades, Americans havebeen brainwashed and emotionally
(25:23):
blackmailed into supporting theleft's vision of liberty with
catastrophic consequences forour society.
If our country is to survivemuch longer, right-wingers need
to fight both for limitedgovernment and moral order.
It's only then that we canrestore true liberty to our
(25:48):
land.
