(00:00):
Repetition with variation is areally good thing.
(00:03):
It's gonna build recognition andtrust from your audience.
So don't feel like every postyou make has to be something
brand new.
They can all feed off of eachother.
If someone is consuming all ofthis across all the platforms,
that's awesome.
That means you have a super fanand that is not a bad thing,
right?
And I've never had someonecomplain to me and say, I
(00:24):
listened to your podcast, butthen I read your newsletter and
your Monday post, and they allwere the same thing.
No.
Nobody's ever said that to me.
Welcome to the Creative Bodega,a podcast about content
marketing, Instagram growth, andpersonal branding for female
service-based solopreneurs whowanna grow their business
without letting it take overtheir lives.
(00:45):
I'm your host, EM Connors, andeach week I'll share actionable
tips, expert advice, andunfiltered truths to help you
create engaging content, connectauthentically with your
audience, and turn followersinto loyal customers.
All without the burnout.
If you're ready to simplify yourcontent creation, navigate the
ever changing trends and build abusiness that works for you
(01:07):
while staying sane in this crazyseason of life, then you're in
the right place.
If there's anything you shouldknow about me at this point, it
is that I find the path of leastresistance in everything that I
do for my business, like theeasier I can make it.
The less steps, the morestreamlined that is my
(01:31):
wheelhouse.
I know a creator who will saylike, find your minimum.
What is the minimum that youneed to do in your business to
still be successful?
And that's always really stuckwith me.
'cause I, I really like thatconcept.
I'm not looking to do any more.
Then I have to, and there'salready so much I have to do as
a small business owner andentrepreneur.
(01:53):
So this episode's for you, ifyou ever feel like you're just
constantly on that contenttreadmill.
Maybe you're recording a podcasthere, writing a post there,
trying to keep up with youremail list, like totally same
friend, same.
And today I just wanna share myexact system that I'm using to
make my podcast Instagramcontent and my weekly newsletter
(02:15):
work together.
So I'm not.
Starting from scratch everyweek, and this is new for me,
this is episode 16 of mypodcast, and so it's taken me a
minute to sort of find my rhythmwith how all these things are
gonna work together and supporteach other.
Rather than workingindependently, because that to
me is just working harder, notsmarter.
(02:37):
So I'm gonna call this mycontent trifecta.
Okay?
It's how I create strategic highvalue content across three
platforms really, withoutgetting overwhelmed at all, or,
you know, burning out.
So what we're gonna cover, howto start with a longer form
content like a podcast.
A blog post, a, a YouTube video, something like that, and build
(03:02):
all your content from it andwhat to do if you don't have any
of those things, which I didn'tfor four years.
So no judgment, no shade.
How I turn one podcast episodeinto a scroll stopping carousel
post, how I write my newsletter.
Faster by building on what I'vealready created and what I've
(03:22):
already shared, and how AIsupports this entire workflow
without taking over my voice andby really just helping support
me in a way that doesn't feelicky.
So I really hope you're gonnawalk away with a plug and play
type of system to repurposesmarter and still sound like you
across all your various touchpoints as a content creator.
(03:45):
So.
First things first.
I never had long form content.
So what is long form content?
It's really something thathonestly probably lasts more
than 10 minutes.
So I've only ever been onInstagram, and so I've only ever
had reels, and I've certainlynever even used the reel option
to have a three minute reel.
All mine or.
You know, pretty short.
(04:05):
Usually a minute to a minute anda half max if I'm doing a how
to.
So I've never had long formcontent.
So again, long form content, longer than 10 minutes, a
YouTube video, a podcast, a blogpost that someone has to take a
while to read.
Something like that, right?
So that's what I consider longform content.
And this whole process is gonnawork a bit easier if you have
(04:27):
something to pull upon for longform content.
If you don't, I'm gonna give youthe option of just maybe having
one of your, you know, coreposts for the week.
Act as that.
So a core post for me would bean a more in depth how to real
or a really education heavy.
(04:49):
Step-by-step carousel post.
So as I'm talking through thisand I say long form content, if
you wanna sort of.
Consider those your long formcontent.
For now, I'm totally fine withthat.
That being said, you couldeasily create something like
that and then use AI to make itlonger, longer form and create a
blog from it, uh, or anewsletter.
(05:11):
I don't know if I consider anewsletter long form content,
but honestly, you probablycould.
I've just never really thoughtabout that until this exact
moment, to be honest.
So.
Let's dive into this.
So step number one is startingwith that long form content.
For me, that's my podcast.
So that's where it all kind ofbegins.
For me.
That's my foundation and that iswhere I'm in the flow.
(05:37):
I'm speaking naturally.
I'm sharing like in depthdetails or like nuances.
An example is like this, likewhat I'm talking about today,
like how to.
We really use a podcast, a postand a newsletter together in a
way to work smarter, not harder.
So an example would be maybe anepisode also on like the three
(05:59):
reasons your content isn'tconverting right.
I.
And I'm always using AI toreally expand upon my initial
idea.
So what I do for when I'm havinga podcast episode idea is I go
into chat, GPTI go into mypodcast assistant.
If you haven't listened to myepisode.
(06:19):
On how I'm using chat GPT.
Go ahead and go back and listento episode number six.
It's called chat, GPT, and ai,exactly how I'm using it to
boost creativity and save timeas a solopreneur.
I'll put a link in the shownotes for you, but that really
explains how I got this GPTassistant up and running.
I do pay$20 a month for chat,GBT, and I've created these
(06:42):
various assistants.
So a podcast assistant is one ofthem, and I've taught her all
about me.
All about my podcast, all aboutmy ideal clients, all about my
pillars that I'm talking aboutall the time.
So she knows everything about meand I'm constantly updating her
so that she, you know, gets toknow me even better.
And I'm uploading transcriptsand I am, you know, let me
(07:03):
explain how I use it.
So here's what I do.
I go into chat, GBT, I go to mypodcast assistant and I say.
Here's the topic that I amthinking about recording this
podcast on.
Here are some key takeaways thatI want my audience to know.
Here are some stories that Iwant you to include.
And then lastly, here's theformat that I want you to
(07:24):
follow.
So I have a podcast format thatI follow that I got from my
amazing podcast, coach Anna, andit's a problem solution format.
So she gave me this awesomeframework where it's like
opening hook.
Context and background,step-by-step solution, personal
story or example, closing CTA.
(07:44):
So that's my format and I willcopy and paste that and put that
into chat, GBT along with allthat other information I.
And then I will say, whatquestions do you have for me so
that you can make this the bestpossible episode for my ideal
client?
And I hit return.
Okay.
That's where I start.
(08:05):
And so she asks me questions.
She usually has five or sixquestions, and I go through and
I answer them very thoughtfully.
I hit return and then shecreates this outline for me.
That's all I need for a podcastscript.
I do not script out my podcastlike word for word.
I don't know if you can tell, like I'm not reading from
anything.
There's basically, I'm lookingat an outline as I'm recording
(08:28):
this and making sure that I'mnot forgetting anything.
It's really to keep me on trackand to help me remember what the
heck I wanted to talk about, soit's broken out into those
various sections or that formatthat I shared with it.
And it's usually pretty darngood.
I will copy it.
I will paste it.
I will put it into a Worddocument where I have a tab per
(08:52):
episode.
Okay, so right now I'm onepisode 16.
I'm looking at my document rightnow in the tab I, I number it
16.
I put the title and then I, Iadd all those notes from chat,
GBTI put them into this Worddocument.
So one episode per tabbasically, and then I start
reading through it.
And I am editing it.
(09:13):
I'm saying, uh oh.
Sometimes I'm highlightingsections of putting them back
into GPT and saying, this isn'tsomething that I would say, but
what about reworking thissection to talk more about this?
And then she'll rework it for meand I'll delete what was there,
and I'll copy and paste the newsection and put it in.
Or maybe I'm not using chat, gchat.
Hmm.
(09:34):
Maybe I'm not using chat GPT atall at this point.
I'm just adding in my own notesof what I wanna say, what I
wanna cover, the biggesttakeaways I want my audience to
get.
So this usually takes me maybe10 minutes to really go through
this and make sure that it flowsin the way that I want it to,
that I'm hitting all the majorkey points that I wanted to
(09:55):
share, that it wraps up in a waythat feels really good, that I'm
including a certain call toaction.
All that good stuff.
And speaking of that, I need totell you right now that I have
all these notes for this entireepisode over on my show notes on
my website.
Just go to the creativebodega.com/blog/sixteen and you
(10:17):
will find any call outs, anyreferences, any notes that will
probably help you if you're moreof a reader.
Because some people don't dogreat listening.
They do better by readingsomething, and that's why I put
all the show notes over there.
Okay.
Anyways, I digress.
So I've got all my podcast notesand then I record the podcast.
(10:38):
So I opened up D script.
DS script is where I record.
I'm doing audio only right nowbecause.
I want to, I don't want torecord my face.
The reason why I was so excitedto do a podcast was because I
didn't have to do makeup.
My background didn't have to beperfect.
I don't wanna get all dolled up.
I, and maybe I don't have to,but the reason I was excited
(10:58):
about podcasting is'cause Ididn't have to show my face.
And it felt really easy to bustout episodes without having to
show my face.
So here I am.
Maybe one day I'll switch, maybenot.
I, I feel like the jury's stillout on if podcasts.
You know that our video form dobetter than just audio?
I don't know.
I, I've read a lot about it andI don't, I can't say one way or
(11:19):
another if one is the rightanswer, but for me right now,
it's not the right answer to dovideo.
So I hit record audio only, andI'm just going through these
notes, like I'm literallylooking at them right now,
right?
It's introduction, overview, detailed steps, tips and
mistakes to avoid, and thenfinal takeaways.
(11:39):
And again, they're just bulletedpoints, literally, and I'm going
through and expanding on them, and that's what works for me.
I'm really lucky in that I don'thave to script out a whole
podcast episode.
That's just not how I roll.
Okay?
So I'm done.
I complete, I hit end record onD Script, and it takes a minute
(12:01):
to give me an entire podcasttranscript, and this is where
the magic starts happening.
So now I have this, you know, ifmy podcast is 20, 25 minutes
long, like I have this entirescript and I will highlight that
entire thing.
I'll go back into chat GPT to mypodcast assistant.
(12:22):
And I will say, can you write ablog post for me that is 2,500
to 3000 words long with SEOoptimized headlines, break out
the chapters and call out anyresources I need to link using
this podcast transcript.
Okay.
It's amazing.
(12:42):
It then takes that and it doesexactly what I asked it to do.
Literally creates a whole blogpost based on my transcript.
I copy that, I paste that.
I put that into my Podia blog, which is basically where I put
all my show notes.
It's not really a blog, it'sreally more show notes, but the
(13:03):
way Podio works, I have to callit a blog.
So.
It just wrote that whole thingfor me based on my transcript.
I don't feel like I'm cheatingbecause that whole transcript
are all things that I said.
They're all things I believe in.
They're all things I'm teachingand preaching.
Now I'm taking it and making itinto a more formal blog post.
Okay, so now I've got my podcastthat I'm sending off to my
(13:24):
editor.
Hi Scott, and he's gonna make itsound beautiful.
Then I have my blog postinstantly, right?
I then take that and I say.
Let me find it.
I'm just gonna tell you exactlywhat I say.
I save all of these in mypodcast assistant on chat, GBT.
You can basically create promptsfor yourself, and I've saved all
(13:48):
these prompts so that I canremember, you know, basically
what I say.
So I say, based on mytranscript, can you write a
captivating, thought provokingheadline, and three bullet
points with a title and a shortparagraph below.
No more than 150 words long.
A call to action to listen tothe podcast.
(14:10):
What's this for?
This is for my newsletter.
You know, my newsletter followsa 3, 2, 1 format.
It's three ideas for yourbusiness or your content.
Two things I'm loving and onetip.
Okay, so this now creates thethree ideas for your business.
I used to just randomly come upwith these every week.
I would just literally be like, huh, what should I share this
(14:31):
week?
Well, now my entire intro for mynewsletter is based on what I'm
talking about in the podcastthis week, and so are my three
ideas.
It again, takes my transcript.
Those are my words.
That's my podcast, and itorganizes it.
It comes up with a greatheadline and then three bulleted
points underneath it withparagraphs.
(14:52):
No more than 150 words long formy newsletter.
I.
Again, I'm then opening up mynewsletter for the week in flow
desks, and I'm copying andpasting those in there.
From there, I am 1000000%reading it.
Sometimes I don't like theheadline.
Sometimes I'll say, eh, I don'tlove that headline, and I'll
have an idea myself, or I'll askher to come up with five
(15:13):
different ideas.
Sometimes one of the bulletpoints isn't something that I
would maybe highlight or share, and I'll say, this is great.
I like the first two bulletpoints, but can you rework the
third one to include this?
So I'm constantly going back andforth with her and she's
learning about me every time I'mdoing this and becoming a better
assistant for me.
Right?
So now I've got my podcast, Ihave got a blog post or the show
(15:38):
notes for my website, and I havethe three ideas to include in my
newsletter.
I'm telling you, this is alltaking me, like at this point
I'm probably 20 minutes in notincluding recording the podcast.
Of course, it's not taking melong, and it's all stemming back
from that original transcript,okay?
It's glorious.
Now what's the last thing I haveto do?
(15:59):
I have to make a post for thatweek highlighting my podcast and
getting people to listen to it.
So my podcast comes out onMonday mornings at 5:00 AM
Eastern Standard Time.
My blog post comes out at theexact same time on my site, and
I schedule a post to come out onInstagram, and it's usually a
(16:19):
carousel relating back to mypodcast and saying, you know,
comment EP 15, right?
Like episode 15 to listen tothis.
How am I making that carousel?
Well, it's another prompt thatI've created in chat GBT for my
podcast assistant, or I say.
Based on my transcript, can youhelp me come up with a 10 to 12
(16:43):
page carousel based on thistranscript and, you know, make
it engaging and encourage peopleto comment.
EP 15 or whatever the call toaction is that week, like the
ManyChat keyword.
And it does, and I will tell it,you know, make it more story
(17:04):
driven, make it less bulletpoints and more short
paragraphs.
And I'm usually doing like thatreally kind of trendy carousel
concept right now, where it'sjust like the same image.
Of me in the background and I'madding the text on top of those
images, and I will share a linkto a reel where I show you
(17:24):
exactly what I'm talking about.
It's kind of hard to explain, but I do it all within Instagram
stories.
I'm just saving the images.
I'm not actually posting thestories, and it's quite fast to
do.
So.
What am I doing?
I'm actually copying and pastingwhatever it says in that chat,
GBT, and I'm either emailing itto myself or I'm texting it to
myself for each of the pagesAgain.
(17:46):
I'm not usually taking itverbatim.
I usually don't love the firstpage that they come up with.
Like the hook is usually alittle cheesy or just not what I
would say.
So I'm absolutely re reworkingthat first page'cause that's so
important to get people toscroll.
But for the most part.
It does a pretty good job oftaking this big long transcript
and breaking it into a 10 to 12page carousel and making it very
(18:09):
story driven.
And again, I'm not trying togive everything away, and I'll
say that don't share everythingthat I'm giving in this podcast
because I really do wannaencourage Instagram viewers to
go and listen to the podcast.
So.
That's it.
So now I have a podcast for theweek.
I've got the main section of mynewsletter, which used to take
(18:30):
me the longest.
Now it takes me no time at allbecause I have the podcast to
lean upon.
I've got a blog post for theweek based on the podcast
transcript, and I have a socialmedia post.
I do know people that will domore than one post promoting
their.
Podcast.
I haven't done that yet.
I think what, what I could do ishave just a quote, like a call
(18:51):
out quote for maybe like on aThursday and encourage people to
comment EP 15 or whatever themany check keyword is.
But I haven't really done that.
I've just found that thatdoesn't perform super well and
neither does.
Just having like a dedicatedsingle image post for my.
Podcast.
That doesn't work super welleither, so, but I have found
that it's like a littletrickier, right?
(19:13):
I'm kind of sneaking in callingout the podcast within a
carousel that looks more likestory driven.
It's not very obvious that it'sabout the podcast that seems to
be working.
I don't ask me why.
That's just what people arepreferring right now.
Instead of just having like asingle image graphic, like new
podcast episode out.
I see people do that and I just, they just fall completely flat.
(19:35):
People are just not reallylooking for that.
Right.
So.
Ah, what did we do?
I started with a podcast or longform content of any kind,
whether you want that to be ablog post, a if you're a writer,
maybe it's a blog.
If you're into video, maybe itis a video on YouTube.
If you're a podcaster, maybeit's a podcast.
(19:57):
If you've got none of those.
Don't stress yourself out.
I didn't either for a millionyears, so I would just actually
start with your more robust, really teaching type post for
that week, whether that's adetailed carousel or a reel
where you're teaching somethingand take that and expand on
that.
Right?
I then turned that episode intoa blog post for my.
(20:21):
Website where that's gonna helpme with SEO and stuff like that,
and to get more people to listento the podcast.
From that, I took it and Iexpanded the conversation into
my newsletter where I basicallykind of do like a podcast teaser
by talking about three things I.
That I will go deeper on andexpand more on in my podcast if
(20:43):
you wanna listen to it.
And then from there I'm takingthat and I'm coming up with a 10
to 12 page carousel that's storydriven based on the transcript
as well.
So I'm just like squeezing somuch out of this transcript and.
I'm not even including the otherthings I do like I get the show
(21:04):
notes, so I have a format forshow notes on Buzz Sprout where
it's just like a paragraph aboutwhat it's about, and then the
key takeaways or highlights thatare gonna be talked about in the
podcast.
That I create in chat GBT basedon my podcast transcript.
Like so much is being based onthis transcript and it just, it
gets me so far.
(21:24):
So that creating my podcast doesnot take long, like.
It's just not a heavy lift andrecording it isn't even that
hard for me.
It's 20 minutes and I didn'tknow that this was gonna be so
easy or feel so light until Igot into it.
It was really the reason why Ikept putting it off for as long
as I did.
'cause I wasn't sure how heavythis lift was gonna be.
But now that I'm into it and Ihave this system and I have this
(21:46):
like spreadsheet that I'mlooking at, and I have my Word
document that I'm really relyingon for the show notes and to
keep myself organized with whatpodcast is, what it just feels.
Easy and good.
And if you want me to talk moreabout podcasting, I will.
I'm clearly not an expert yet,but I'm kind of falling in love
with it, and I, I really amenjoying the process so much and
(22:09):
I'm really happy to teach othersif it's something you're
interested in.
So maybe shoot me a DM and letme know if you, if you are
interested in, you know, hearingmore about podcasting.
I haven't talked about it a lotyet.
On my podcast.
So AI is totally here to supportyou.
It's not here to replace you.
I cannot encourage you enough toreally apply your tone of voice
(22:30):
the way you speak, and don't beafraid to kind of tell chat,
GBT, like, uh, you're not quitehitting the mark there.
There's so many times where I'mlike, can you tone it down a
little bit and make it a littledrier?
Like I'm not that over the topwhen I'm talking.
And this is like really readingto ai.
Or too cheesy for me, and it'slike, sure.
(22:51):
And then it redoes it and I'mlike, okay, that sounds way more
like me.
Right?
So some tips and mistakes toavoid really.
Mistake number one is treatingeach platform like its own
separate job.
Like these platforms should allbe kind of working cohesively,
whether it's the blog, thepodcast, a YouTube video, your
social media posts for the week, your newsletter, all of them.
(23:13):
You should tie them all togetherso that you're not working hard.
Right.
You, you want it to be moresimplified and you can
absolutely talk about the samethings across all the platforms.
That's not a big deal.
Let the podcast lead or let thatlong format lead and let the
rest follow from there.
Mistake number two, feeling likeyou need to say something new in
(23:34):
every post You make right?
Repetition with variation.
Is a really good thing.
It's, it's gonna buildrecognition and trust from your
audience.
So don't feel like every postyou make has to be something
brand new.
They can all feed off of eachother.
If someone is consuming all ofthis across all the platforms,
(23:54):
that's awesome.
That means you have a super fanand that is not a bad thing,
right?
And I've never had someonecomplain to me and say, I
listened to your podcast, butthen I read your newsletter and
your Monday post, and they allwere the same thing.
No.
Nobody's ever said that to me'cause they're honestly most
likely consuming one and not theother, or two and not the other.
Or even if it's all three mm,not a big deal.
(24:16):
And then last but not least, Iwould say mistake number three
is using AI for like your entirepost.
Instead, I really use it to helpme brainstorm, help me
structure, help me speed upcertain parts of my content.
Me, you are what bring like thestory and the soul and the
uniqueness to that content.
(24:38):
So the content trifecta is aboutworking with your content and
not against it.
You're already pouring yourheart into your content.
Most likely.
Let it do the heavy lifting.
Let that longer form content dothe heavy lifting.
And then, you know, help thenamplify your message on
Instagram and really deepen thatrelationship through your
(25:00):
newsletter.
So let your platforms talk toeach other, and you're never
gonna run outta content ideasagain.
