On June 1, 1987, 16-year-old Theresa Ann Bier vanished in the Bass Lake area of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. She was last seen with 43-year-old Russell "Skip" Welch, who claimed they were searching for Bigfoot. Welch returned without her and alleged that Bigfoot had abducted her. Despite extensive searches, no trace of Theresa was ever found. Welch was charged with her abduction, but the case was dismissed due to a lack of evidence
