Calvin Rust, founder of BRC Construction, is a self-made contractor based in Idaho with a passion for homebuilding and education. Growing up on a family farm, he developed a strong work ethic early, managing operations from age 11. As a teenager, he joined a framing crew for extra income and quickly realized his potential in the construction industry. Partnering with a friend, he built a successful framing business, eventually expanding into general contracting by self-funding spec homes.
With expertise in site preparation, framing, and construction management, Calvin shares valuable insights on efficient building practices, working with trades, and navigating regulations. His specialty includes barndominiums and custom homes, particularly in states like Idaho and Texas, where flexible building laws allow for innovative designs.
Beyond construction, Calvin is dedicated to teaching others how to manage their own homebuilding projects. With a growing online presence of 400,000–500,000 followers, he creates educational content on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok under BRC Construction and BRC Framing. His long-term vision includes developing a comprehensive DIY home-building guide and video series to help homeowners take control of their builds while saving money.
