Speaker 1 (00:00):
Father, I pray for
everybody, under the sound of my
voice, to know that you're theonly choice for whatever
problems they have in their life, for them to bring them to you
and never think twice, no matterhow big or small is the
transgression, that you have theanswer to every question, and
for them to look to you for allthe blessings.
(00:21):
In Jesus' name, we all say amen.
How's it going, family?
I hope everybody's good,everybody's blessed and feeling
in good spirits.
Today, on Psalmist Cipher, weare going to be going over Myles
Minnick.
Came across a YouTube video onMyles Minnick and he was pretty
much talking about how heactually got into the rap game
(00:44):
Christian rap game.
I thought his testimony on thiscertain radio show was pretty
good.
I'll drop the link to theYouTube videos down in the
description for you guys tocheck out, but that's what we're
going to talk about a littlebit.
We're also going to talk abouta couple other rappers that I
know you'll be interested inFire Bars, fire Message, and at
(01:07):
the end of the episode we'regoing to go over our episode's
scripture and a devotional andI'll send y'all on your way.
So let's go.
So, miles Minnick all right,I've heard a couple of his songs
.
All right, and I think he'spretty good All right.
But what really intrigued meabout this cat is that how he
(01:30):
got started.
He came from a pretty smalltown in California and, much
like a lot of other Christianrappers, he was pretty much
rapping about guns, drugs, gangs, all of that type of stuff and
ended up being saved andswitched it up to Christian.
(01:52):
Actually he was talking aboutthat.
He could win this rap battle byrapping and you know rapping
like a Christian right.
So he went ahead and did thatand somehow the sound guy messed
up, the sound got cut off andhe ended up rapping the next few
(02:12):
bars without no music behindhim and the crowd went nuts.
And that's all great, all gloryto God.
That's what started his rapcareer right as far as him
pursuing it not really his rapcareer.
But what intrigued me most aboutthis interview and again it's
(02:36):
going to be done in the shownotes is how he took a step of
faith.
All right, he took a step offaith, all right.
He took a step of faith him andhis wife because they felt the
calling right.
He's staying in this small town.
You'll have to check the videoto find out what town it is, but
it's a small town, I think, inthe North end of California, of
(03:10):
California, and he was going toLA doing all these shows and he
had just bought a house, he'sgot kids, he's got a wife in his
small town and he knew thatmoving down to LA was a big move
and financially very stressful, because what he was paying
mortgage on his house that hejust bought was less than two
(03:31):
times the amount that he wouldhave paid for rent in LA.
But him and his wife felt acalling over there.
He would go over there and doshows and he was always over
there flying over there doingshows, coming back back and
forth, back and forth, back andforth, right.
So I guess he went with hiswife down to LA and she seen how
(03:53):
the movement was behind themand that convinced her right.
So she's like, okay, well, wedon't know how this is going to
work out.
I'm assuming they prayed on itand took a leap of faith and as
he was driving down he didn'tknow how this was going to work.
All right, he's just headingdown that way.
(04:14):
As he was driving down he got acall from some type of big time
record producer somehow and theguy was like I've been looking
for you or I've been looking forsomebody like you and the rest
is history, and everything tookoff.
But he had to take that leap offaith.
It's a beautiful thing, right, how God works, right?
(04:36):
He was showing them the wholetime God's over there showing
them look, I got you here, I gotyou here.
I got you here, you goteverything's working out for you
here, but he was staying, youknow, back home.
It's kind of hard to leave homeEverything's.
You know you got invested withyour house, family, I'm assuming
, right, kids in school andeverything.
(04:56):
Everything's comfortable there.
But usually when God needs yousomewhere, it's not in your
comfort zone.
It's not right.
You have to step out of that.
God does that purposely, almostLike you're going to trust my
calling and I'm gonna make ithappen because his he's
glorified in that, you know, like he shines bright, like god
(05:19):
did this for me, like I had noidea that this was gonna happen.
I just knew that he wanted mehere or the calling was to bring
me here and it worked out forhim.
Miles minute.
I'm happy.
I'm happy for you, man.
I enjoyed the whole show.
Check out that show in the linkin bio below.
As far as his music, all rightMiles Minnick has.
(05:41):
He's from the West Coast, so heis a West Coast type rapper.
For myself, I enjoy it.
I'm more of an East Coast guy,but he's got bars, he's got a
good message and when I waswatching the interview with him,
(06:01):
he is a very stand-up dude, like you could tell.
His character was very strong.
He's strong in a word, and whatyou see is what you get with
miles minute.
As far as that interview, um,so it made me respect his music
a lot more when I seen thecharacter that's producing the
(06:23):
content in the description downbelow.
You know what I like to do.
I like to throw spotify uhplaylist.
I'm gonna put two of his cuts upin there, along with two other
rappers, with two cuts from themtwo and they are Flawless Real
Talk and EGR.
So EGR, he is a West Coastrapper, so their flows Miles
(06:50):
Minnick and EGR is completelydifferent.
You're going to be able to tellthat off rip.
But what I found between MilesMinnick, egr and the other guy I
have on there which is Flawlesshe's an East Coast rapper, I
think he's from Providence.
Flawless Real Talk is his name.
These guys are very punchy withtheir bars, all right, very
(07:18):
creative on how the bars, howtheir rhymes go together, their
lyrics and all of that.
And EGR and Flawless.
You're going to have to give mesome comments in the comment
section because I know I manskills, skills, skills.
Let me know what you thinkabout these cats.
If you're watching this orlistening to it on YouTube, drop
(07:42):
it in the comment section.
Or I'm also very active withFacebook, so go ahead, hit me up
through there.
But we're also active acrossother platforms.
I'll check them off.
But to start with EGR, this cat,he's got like a level flow that
it just starts low and it getsto like almost like a peak,
(08:07):
right, Like a aggressive.
Peak is the best way I couldexplain it.
You have to listen to it, allright, you can see where he
starts and you know he'll getyou.
He'll get you wrapped up with.
You know the creativeness ofhis delivery, but as he goes he
gets more intense.
So very talented rapper, let meknow what you think of him.
(08:30):
And flawless this guy just gotbars, bars, bars, bars.
Very punchy, all right, verycreative with the words and what
I get from him when I listen tohim.
He likes to put a lot of thesame.
How can I put this?
He'll put a lot of the samerhyming words back to back, to
(08:54):
back to back to back.
Maybe I don't know, maybe eightto ten of them in a row, and
then switch to the next one anddo that again and switch to the
next one.
I catch that a lot from him.
If you see something different, put it in the comment section.
But I've listened to a few ofhis songs and he actually just
dropped a new album, so I'llalso put that in there for you.
(09:17):
So please check the show notes.
There's a lot of value there.
So let me know what you think.
And if you're enjoying thiscontent, I would love for you to
like, subscribe, comment, share, follow.
I don't know what platformyou're listening to it on, but
whatever it is and whatever theprompt is, in order for you to
(09:37):
always get the show and become afollower or subscriber.
Go ahead and do that please, solike that, you know we could go
ahead and uplift this show andget it to more people.
Also, I want to let you knowbecause I want to provide as
much value to you as possible.
All right, and this is aChristian hip hop podcast, all
(10:00):
right, but I also want todeliver the word as the best I
can right.
So the best way I can do thatfor you is I have somebody that
has a podcast that's in mychurch, all right.
His podcast goes by the name ofthe Ruminator, all right.
(10:22):
And this brother, he has beenstudying and providing value
from the Bible that is notopinionated.
This is straight from the Bible, the truth, and he delivers it
in a way where you can have areal deal Bible study with him.
I'm going to link his podcastin the link in bio down below
(10:45):
for you to check out.
But he has over 500, 500episodes of Bible study, so and
they're about like an hour hourand 15 minutes.
So if you really want to getsome in-depth Bible study, he's
got great titles.
He really goes into certainaspects of the Bible.
(11:08):
If you really want to study theBible in a new way and get the
most you can out of it, checkout his link the Ruminator in my
link in bio out of it.
Check out his link theRuminator and my link in bio.
And today's verse of the day isgoing to be from James 1, verses
2 and 3.
And I'm reading from the NIVversion, and it goes like
(11:31):
consider it pure joy, mybrothers and sisters, whenever
you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the
testing of your faith producesperseverance.
You know we all have troubles, all of us, whether we're
Christian or not.
Before you were saved, you havetroubles.
(11:53):
After you're saved, you havetroubles, and even, sometimes
even more, you have troubles, and even sometimes even more I
think at times, that beingchristian definitely doesn't
exclude you from having troubles, maybe sometimes even more so,
because now you become a threatto the enemy.
(12:15):
Right now you're becoming whoGod has created you to be Right,
and the devil wants you back.
When you wasn't saved, hewasn't saved Right.
He had you, so it was easy forhim just to step back.
But once you're walking a pathwith Jesus, the devil is going
(12:36):
to come for you.
He wants you back.
He doesn't want you there Right.
So these troubles come up and Ihonestly don't think that God
tests us the way people say oh,that's God testing me.
I don't think God wants you togo through hardship, but having
(12:58):
faith, knowing that he's goingto pull you through, that is
part of it, and that's yourselftesting your faith.
How strong is your faith?
How strong is your faith?
I mean, I know times get hardand sometimes we end up buckling
, we fall, but do you get backup and keep pushing forward or
(13:20):
do you give up?
Because faith is not aboutgiving up Actually, it's very
far from it, and it's okay totake a fall.
But if you get up and you dustyourself and you keep on going,
that's what faith is Knowingthat you walk with God and
you're not walking alone.
That in them troubles walkingalone, that in them troubles, no
(13:46):
matter how deep or how bad itis, god will not let you fall.
God will never leave you alonebecause at your weakest moment
or at your weakest state, whenyou pull through and you make it
through that valley, that'swhere his light shines the
brightest.
Amen to that, huh.
