A beautiful, yet gruesome original I discovered from reading The Pentamerone. Sun, Moon, and Talia, "Sole, Luna, e Talia", is an Italian fairy tale written by Giambattista Basile in his 1634 work, the Pentamerone. Charles Perrault retold this fairy tale in 1697 as The Sleeping Beauty, as did the Brothers Grimm in 1812 as Little Briar Rose.

"Jabberwocky" is a nonsense poem written by Lewis Carol about the killing of a creature named "the Jabberwock".
It features in his 1871 novel Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There, the spin-off of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865). The book recounts Alice's discoveries inside the back-to-front universe of Looking-Glass Land.

"The tale of the snow and steeple" is a short, funny, European folktale, also from The Petamerone, about one man's journey to Russia.
