My friend Pam Kuper, like her son and daughter-in-law, was afraid and confused when her grandson was diagnosed with autism. But Pam isn’t your ordinary grandma, and her friend Cheryl Yancey, an educator, isn’t your normal bestie. Thisweek’s podcast features Pam and Cheryl, who turned a personal challenge into a powerful mission. Together they founded ASSIST (Achieving Success through Support, Individualized Service, and Training), a nonprofit that helps families of children with disabilities access vital support and resources beyond what traditional systems offer.
Our discussion covers the obstacles Pam’s family faced, the support ASSIST provides, and their goal to expand its reach nationwide, especially to grandparents helping raise their grandkids.
