The Hilsa Band is a podcast about Bengali migrants in NYC. As the name suggests ‘Hilsa’ is the fish that unites Bengalis of India and Bangladesh on either side of a man-made line. This podcast gives you bites of stories about life, struggles, culture, food, music, history, politics and anything and everything to do with Bengalis in NYC. I am an Indian Bengali of Bangladeshi heritage, who's lived in 7 cities in 3 different countries, and call both Kolkata and NYC home. You might find a slice of your story in there. Who knows ? After all, we are all migrants from somewhere to somewhere.
In this video podcast, I have an invigorating conversation with Tashnuva Anan Shishir about her life, her passion, her love, her struggles, her healing and survival. More Mala, more music. A bit films, a bit food. Throw in some harmless bad words, lots of giggles, a dash of philosophy and some revolutionary thoughts. That is the recipe for this episode. And all this happening at the end of a working day on a very snowy evening.

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
