UU (00:07):
Sweeter than honey. Much better than gold. Searching the word.
See how the story unfolds in the Honeycomb Club. We
have fun with Max, Colin and Lena in the honey cast.

(00:29):
We will share a laugh. The Honeycomb Chronicles, honeycomb, the
Honeycomb Club, the Honeycomb Chronicles.

S1 (00:56):
Greetings! We welcome thee to the Honey Cast, a podcast
made for kids by kids.

S2 (01:02):
Yes, indeed. This statement is true. My title is Max and.

S1 (01:07):
Mine is Catalina. And you may call me Lena. And
we're glad you could join us today.

S2 (01:14):
That we are. And the young squire, why don't you
introduce thyself?

S1 (01:18):
Uh, Max, I think we're done with the whole royalty thing.

S2 (01:22):
Oh. Are we?

S3 (01:24):
Hey. I'm Colin.

S2 (01:26):
Thank you. Sire.

S3 (01:28):
Max.

S2 (01:28):
Okay, okay. I'm done.

S1 (01:31):
As you could probably tell, our intro was a bit
different this week. But it's a clue to the book
of the Bible that this month's episode of the honey
cast focuses on.

S2 (01:40):
Any guesses? It's kings.

S1 (01:43):
Second kings, to be exact.

S2 (01:45):
But we really aren't focusing on the kings found in
the book.

S1 (01:48):
No we aren't though there is a lot to learn
from the entire Book of Second Kings. Today we wanted
to take a closer look at a man named Elisha.

S2 (01:57):
Now Elisha was a prophet of God. And in case
you don't know already, a prophet is someone used by
God to speak truth like God's messenger.

S1 (02:06):
The role of the prophet is very important, and Elisha
was used by God to show others his truth and
his character through what he said and what he did.

S2 (02:15):
But before we talk more about Elisha, I thought I'd
give you a little quiz on turkeys.

S1 (02:20):
I'm sorry. Turkeys.

S2 (02:23):
Well, it is Thanksgiving season after all.

S1 (02:26):
Mm. Okay. You know, I always like a quiz.

S2 (02:29):
Ready your spaghettio. Let's do it. I'll say a statement
and you'll guess of what I say is true or false?
Listening audience. You can play along as well.

S1 (02:38):
Got it.

S2 (02:39):
Okay. First one only boy turkeys gobble. True or false?

S1 (02:44):
I've always thought that every turkey can gobble.

S2 (02:47):
So false. Ding ding ding. That's correct.

S4 (02:51):
Yes.

S2 (02:52):
Okay okay. Next one. Turkeys cannot fly.

S1 (02:56):
Definitely true. I've never seen a turkey fly.

S2 (03:00):
Sorry. That's incorrect. What? Turkeys actually can fly. Well, really?
Only wild turkeys, but not for very long. But they
can fly.

S1 (03:09):
I've never seen a turkey fly, but whatever.

S2 (03:12):
All right, we'll see if you can get this one.
Turkey's head can change colors. True or false?

S1 (03:18):
Change colors. Um, I know, say, um, I've never seen
a turkey's head change colors, but I wonder if it
really does happen. Or is this just a trick question of.

S2 (03:28):
True. Ding ding ding. You're correct. Lena. Really? Yep. Turkey's
heads can change based on how they're feeling. Yes, they
can be red, blue or white.

S1 (03:39):
You know, I never knew most of these.

S2 (03:42):
I got another. Turkeys are mostly blind. True or false?

S1 (03:46):
These are hard. True.

S2 (03:49):
It's false. Turkeys actually have better eyesight than people. Really? Mhm. Okay.
Last one. Boy and girl turkeys poop is different shaped. Ooh. Max. What.
What's the problem.

S1 (04:02):
Well, I'm guessing because you brought it up. It has
to be true. It is.

S2 (04:06):
Boy's poop is usually gross.

S3 (04:08):
Max, I think it's kind of cool.

S2 (04:10):
Me, too.

S1 (04:12):
Okay. You said that was the last one, right? Yep. Okay,
let's get back to the important things, please.

S2 (04:20):
Well, some of those facts were pretty wild. And Alicia
did some pretty wild things, too, during his life.

S1 (04:25):
Out of the ordinary things that showed others. God.

S2 (04:29):
That's right. And we call these things miracles.

S1 (04:32):
And you're in for a real treat. Because guess who's
going to tell us about those miracles?

S2 (04:37):
Ladies and gentlemen, it's Colin Tucker.

S3 (04:41):
Hey, thanks. Lina and Max. Yeah, I'm usually more comfortable
off the mic, but these miracles are out of this world.
So here's a special segment in today's show called.

UU (04:55):
Born for miracles.

S3 (04:59):
Now there are lots of crazy cool things Elisha did,
but here are the three things I think are the coolest.
Number one Elisha took a piece of clothing, hit the
Jordan River with it, and it split in half. Can
you believe it? A body of water just splitting down
the middle so that he could walk right through like

(05:21):
it was some sort of trail?

S2 (05:23):
No, that was his first miracle. Good one to get
his feet wet, I guess.

S3 (05:30):
All right, all right. Number two, during a time when
there wasn't a lot of food, someone made some stew
for Elisha and others. So they grabbed some squash to
put in the stew. But there was a problem. Dun
dun dun. Unknown to them, the squash they got was Poisonous.

S2 (05:53):
In my opinion, all squash is poisonous.

S3 (05:57):
Some men ate it and they got scared because they
were sure the stew was going to kill them, but
Elisha simply told them to throw some flour in it
and bam, it was good to eat.

S2 (06:11):
Maybe I should try that next time my mom makes squash.

S3 (06:14):
All right, last one, number three. There was a man
named Naaman who had a skin disease. He visited Elisha
after being told about him by a slave girl. Elisha
told him to wash himself seven times in the Jordan River.
Naaman didn't want to do it at first, but once
he did, his disease disappeared all the way through.

S2 (06:40):
Those are some mind blowing stories, and.

S3 (06:42):
I didn't even mention the time he raised a kid
from the dead, only used a little bread to feed
a hundred men, or made an axe float like it
was some sort of fishing bobber. Crazy stuff.

S1 (06:56):
It really is. And as we look at these stories,
it's important to remember who the one actually doing the
crazy cool stuff is.

S2 (07:04):
Absolutely. Remember, Elisha did these things to show others God right.

S1 (07:10):
As a prophet. These miracles were to show off God. Mr.
Mitchell said we should ask ourselves this question when we
are reading these stories. What does this story show us
about God?

S2 (07:21):
So what are some things these mind blowing stories tell
us about God?

S1 (07:26):
Well, I believe we see his power, his desire to
be known and that he is provider to name a few.

S2 (07:33):
I agree it was important that God used Elisha to
show these things because right before Elisha there was another prophet.

S1 (07:41):
Yes, his name was Elijah.

S2 (07:44):
So we had Elijah, and then came Elisha. That can
get a little confusing.

S1 (07:51):
Yes it can. But after Elijah was taken by God.

S2 (07:54):
In a whirlwind up to heaven.

S1 (07:56):
Yes, in a whirlwind. Up to heaven. God wanted to
make sure that people knew that he was the same God,
even though his messenger was different.

S2 (08:05):
That's exactly right. God always remains the same even when
the prophets, kings, and cultures changed.

S4 (08:12):
That's right.

S2 (08:13):
That means if God was powerful, wanted to be known,
and was provided with Elijah, he would be with Elijah
as well.

S1 (08:21):
Absolutely. In fact, miracles have happened all throughout history that.

S2 (08:26):
They have a story. My Grandma Beatrice always told me
was about a miracle with a guy named George Mueller.

S1 (08:32):
Why don't you tell us about it?

S2 (08:33):
Sure thing. It happened sometime around 1850.

S1 (08:37):
That was about 175 years ago.

S3 (08:40):
And about 2700 years after Elijah.

S2 (08:45):
Yep. So around that time, there was a guy named George.
He started lots of orphanages that cared for kids who
didn't have any parents. At one point, there were about
300 kids at one of the orphanages. When it was
time for breakfast, as you can imagine, they were ready
to eat. George had them all sit down at the tables,
but there was no food. But that didn't scare George.

(09:07):
He prayed for the meal and thanked God for the
food that he was going to provide for them.

S1 (09:11):
He really believed God was the provider.

S2 (09:14):
He sure did. And once he was finished praying, there
was a knock at the door. And at the door
there was a local baker. He told George that he
couldn't sleep because he felt he was supposed to make
bread for the kids. So in came loaves of bread.
Fresh bread. Whoa! But that's not all. There was another
knock at the door. This time it was a milkman.

S3 (09:37):
A milkman.

S2 (09:38):
Yeah, kind of like grocery delivery, but only milk.

S4 (09:42):
Weird. Yeah.

S2 (09:44):
But anyway, there was a milkman who had a cart
full of milk, but something had just happened to his
wheel and he could no longer drive his cart. It
had broken down right outside of the orphanage. So he
asked if George could use the milk because it would
go bad if it just sat in the cart while
he waited for it to be fixed. What God provided

(10:04):
in huge ways and the kids had a complete breakfast
of bread and milk.

S1 (10:09):
What a story! Displaying the truth that God is powerful
no matter the time in history. Yep.

S3 (10:16):
Actually, yeah. Well, I was just.

S2 (10:21):
Uh huh. Go ahead. Colin.

S3 (10:23):
I've seen how this is still true about God even today.

S2 (10:27):
You have. Oh, how how how. Spill the beans, brother.

S3 (10:31):
Well, just a few days ago, I was talking to God. Kinda,
and was wondering if he still did this kind of stuff.
And then, like, right after that, I got a new
coat given by you. Max and Lena. You invited me
to your family's Thanksgiving meal. Both things I kind of needed.

S2 (10:53):
Neato. Mosquito.

S1 (10:54):
Maravilhoso. Yeah.

S3 (10:56):
I thought it was really crazy and cool. So I
guess God really does stay the same no matter the
time in history.

S1 (11:06):
I'm really glad you told us, Colin.

S2 (11:08):
Yeah, man, that's really cool.

S3 (11:10):
I thought so. You know.

S1 (11:12):
What? I think that is the best way to end
this months honey cast.

S2 (11:16):
I think you're right.

S1 (11:17):
Max. Colin. I'm really thankful for both of you.

S2 (11:21):
Me too. Lena.

S3 (11:22):
So am I. Guys.

S1 (11:23):
And we're thankful for all of our listeners, too. It's
great to learn the truth of God with all of you.

S2 (11:29):
It sure is. Until next time. We're the honey cast. Crew.
Signing off.

S1 (11:34):
Adios.

S3 (11:35):
Bye.
