S1 (00:00):
Previously on the Honeycomb Chronicles.

S2 (00:03):
Okay, new year, new me. You're up early. Yep. Already
made my bed. And I started your coffee for you.
It looks pretty dark.

S3 (00:15):
How many scoops did you put in it? Ten.

S2 (00:19):
Whoa.

S4 (00:20):
I think it needs a little more cream.

S2 (00:23):
Colin. Colin. Did you walk here? Yep.

S5 (00:28):
Oh, my goodness, you look like Rudolph. Your nose is
so red. Are you okay? Did you miss the bus
or something?

S2 (00:35):
No, I just wanted to walk. I keep seeing videos
about ice baths on YouTube. They say those are healthy.
So today was just like an air ice bath. We
better get to class. I don't want to be late. Wait, Colin,
your shoelace is out.

S6 (00:53):
Oh, Colin, my man. Already entering the New Year with
some style, I'll. Huh? And maybe with a new nickname.
Clumsy Colin.

S5 (01:03):
Johnny. Go away! You're not helping anything. Come on. Colin.
Can you stand up?

S2 (01:08):
Yeah, I think I twisted my ankle.

UU (01:15):
Sweeter than honey. Much better than gold. Searching the word.
See how the story unfolds in the Honeycomb Club. We
have fun with Max, Colin and Lena and the honey cast.

(01:36):
We will share a laugh. The honeycomb chronicles. Honeycomb. The
honeycomb club. The honeycomb Honeycomb.

S2 (02:02):
And then I landed on it wrong. And now I'm
supposed to use these crutches for a few days?

S7 (02:07):
Dude, that's a bummer.

S5 (02:08):
But Mr. Mitchell was just sharing with Colin how he
might find freedom or something, right?

S8 (02:13):
Yes.

S7 (02:14):
Freedom.

S8 (02:16):
Colin, do you mind if I catch Max up?

S2 (02:18):
Go for it.

S8 (02:20):
Colin was just sharing that he was trying to do
things better this year in order to make God happy.
Sort of earn his approval. And I was sharing that.
There's really no way to do that. And in that,
there is a sort of freedom from trying.

S7 (02:34):
Okay.

S2 (02:35):
Yeah, I didn't get it either.

S8 (02:38):
Well, God is so kind because it just so happens
that our study for this month's honey cast is Galatians.

S5 (02:46):
Oh, doesn't that book have the fruits of the spirit
in it?

S2 (02:49):
What?

S7 (02:50):
The fruit of the spirit. You know, love, joy. Peace. Patience.

S2 (02:54):
Never heard of em.

S9 (02:55):
Them.

S8 (02:56):
It's a great part of Galatians, but before we get there,
we actually need to start at the beginning.

S5 (03:02):
Right? Wait, let me grab my notebook. I need to
take notes.

S8 (03:06):
Galatians is in the New Testament, and it was written
by the Apostle Paul to a group of churches to
correct their way of thinking.

S5 (03:14):
Correct their way of thinking.

S8 (03:16):
Yes. You see, they had heard the gospel, the good
news about Jesus being the rescuer and saving them from
their sins. But they got confused and they started adding
their own parts to the news, making it not so
good nor so true.

S2 (03:30):
What did they try to add?

S8 (03:32):
Good behavior. Really? More or less, yeah. For them specifically,
it was following the Jewish law.

S5 (03:41):
But aren't we supposed to follow the law?

S8 (03:44):
Yes, but these people started to believe that they were
made right with God by following the rules that he
gave them. And they aren't. Not at all. Here. Maybe
it would be easier to understand if we read it.
Did anybody bring their Bible?

S7 (03:59):
I got mine.

S8 (04:00):
Great. Let's see. Uh. Here it is. Galatians 216. Know
that a person is not justified by the works of
the law. Do you know what justified means?

S5 (04:13):
Does it mean made right?

S8 (04:14):
Exactly. So it says that a person isn't made right.
Specifically made right with God by the law. It goes on.
But by faith in Jesus Christ.

S2 (04:26):
Faith in Jesus Christ?

S8 (04:28):
Yes. It's only through Jesus that we can be made
right with God. It's not Jesus plus being good. Just Jesus.

S2 (04:37):
But what does faith mean?

S8 (04:39):
Oh man, I didn't realize it was 445 already. I
can't miss this meeting. Look, this is a really important conversation,
and I don't want to cut it short.

S2 (04:50):
It's okay. We can talk more later.

S8 (04:54):
I'm so sorry to have to leave now. This is
my favorite thing to talk about. If I don't see
you guys before you leave today, I'll clear my calendar
for tomorrow.

S5 (05:03):
Okay. Sounds good. Thank you, Mr. Mitchell.

S7 (05:06):
Sayonara. Mitch. Mitch. Dude, how are you really doing?

S2 (05:14):
Not so great. Oh, here we go again. Oh. Oh, man.
I forgot about my ankle.

S3 (05:33):
Colin, are you okay?

S2 (05:36):
Yeah. I just forgot that I sprained my ankle and
tried to stand on my foot.

S3 (05:41):
Oh, sweetie.

S2 (05:42):
I just got to figure out how I can make
my bed.

S3 (05:45):
It's okay, sweetie, don't worry about it. You've gone most
of your life with an unmade bed. I think we
can wait until your ankle is better to start that
new habit.

S2 (05:54):
No, I'm gonna try to do it. Oh, this isn't working.

S3 (06:02):
Here, let me help.

S2 (06:03):
Well, I'm going to go get breakfast ready and start
your coffee.

S3 (06:08):
No, I mean, I've got it this morning. And really,
I think you should take it easy. Let me help
you get to the couch and I'll grab some ice
for your ankle. We need to try to get that
swelling down this morning.

S2 (06:21):
But, mom, I really wanted to.

S3 (06:23):
Colin, I know you do, but this isn't a discussion.
In order for your ankle to heal as quickly as possible.
Hobbling around on it, making beds and coffee is not
the way to do it.

S2 (06:34):
Fine.

S3 (06:35):
Okay, now let's get to the couch. And how about
I pour you a nice bowl of your favorite cereal
this morning?

S2 (06:42):
All right. Good morning. Colin. I don't know how good
it is.

S5 (06:57):
Still bummed about your ankle?

S2 (06:58):
Yeah. And the whole year so far. Really? And it's
only day two.

S5 (07:03):
Here, let me help you with your backpack.

S2 (07:06):
Thanks. I really hate that. I need so much help.

S5 (07:10):
We all need help sometimes.

S2 (07:13):
Yeah, but I wanted to be the one helping others
this year. And now look at me. My mom practically
carried me around this morning, and now you're carrying my backpack.
It's kind of embarrassing.

S5 (07:26):
There's really nothing to be embarrassed about.

S6 (07:29):
Well, well, well, if it isn't clumsy. Colin and his girlfriend.

S5 (07:34):
Johnny. I'm not his girlfriend. And Colin isn't clumsy.

S6 (07:38):
Oh. So is that why he's using crutches today? Because
he isn't clumsy.

S5 (07:43):
Johnny, why do you have to be?

S2 (07:44):
So let's just go. Lena. no.

S6 (07:47):
Later, lovebirds.

S5 (07:51):
Ah! That boy makes me so mad. Why is he so.

S2 (07:54):
Mean to you? It's whatever. Let's just try to get
to class before the bell rings.

S7 (08:07):
So what about you, Colin? Huh? Have you chosen your
book for the next report yet? What?

S5 (08:13):
Didn't you listen to Mrs. Rodriguez?

S2 (08:16):
Oh. Not really. Sorry.

S5 (08:19):
We were just thinking about what books we want to
read for our next report. I know I at least
want to read historical fiction. It's my favourite genre.

S6 (08:26):
Oh, a book. Whoa! Max! My man.

S7 (08:31):
Johnny Appleseed. What's happening? Bro?

S6 (08:34):
What are you doing with these two lovebirds?

S5 (08:37):
Johnny?

S6 (08:38):
Well, while you're hanging out with these two, maybe you
could teach Colin some balancing skills. He sure needs it.

S7 (08:44):
Yeah, that's not cool, bro. Stop talking about my friend
like that.

S6 (08:47):
What? I'm just saying that clumsy Colin could use some help.

S2 (08:52):
Huh? Johnny, just shut up!

UU (08:54):
Colin! Oh, dude, you just punched me.

S10 (08:59):
Boy's office now.

S2 (09:09):
Colin. Mr. Mitchell, what are you doing here?

S8 (09:13):
Your mom called me. She couldn't leave her shift at work.
She asked me to come sit with you. Oh. What happened?

S2 (09:25):
I hit Johnny. Mm.

S8 (09:30):
That doesn't really sound like you.

S2 (09:33):
I don't really know. I just felt like I couldn't
take it anymore. The pressure of everything.

S8 (09:39):
The pressure.

S2 (09:41):
Yeah. Trying so hard to be good. And then with
my ankle and Johnny saying things over and over again,
it just became too much. I lost it and it
came out with. With my fist.

S8 (09:55):
I see. I'm sorry we didn't get to finish our
conversation yesterday, but I think now is the perfect time
if you're up for it. Sure. Great. But first, I
want to read you. Galatians one three. It says. Grace
and peace to you from God our father and the
Lord Jesus Christ. Grace and peace. Those are some things

(10:19):
I think you could use right now.

S2 (10:22):
You could say that again.

S8 (10:25):
Now here is what it says about what Jesus did.
It says he gave himself up for our sins to
rescue us. That's the good news. Jesus is the one
who did what we couldn't. That's what I was trying
to say yesterday. We can't be good enough for enough
for God. He is holy and perfect and left to ourselves.

(10:45):
We are full of sin. Even when we try our hardest,
we will fail to meet his perfect standard.

S2 (10:54):
But that doesn't seem fair.

S8 (10:57):
Oh, but God doesn't just leave us on our own.
That's why he sent Jesus. Did you hear what that
first said? Jesus gave himself to rescue us from our sins. How?
He lived perfectly. And then he gave up his life
to take our place. He took on our sins and

(11:19):
died the death that we deserved.

S2 (11:21):
He did? Yeah. Why?

S8 (11:27):
Because of love. God made a way for us to
be with him. And the way he made the only
way is Jesus.

S2 (11:38):
And he did that for me.

S8 (11:40):
He did it for you and me. For everyone. It's
Jesus and nothing else. Just faith in him. Faith. Yeah.
Believing that you need Jesus. Admitting that he is Lord.
And agreeing with God that you have sinned. Turning from
your sin and accepting the truth that Jesus is the

(12:03):
one who makes us right. Really? Really? And that's how
you'll find true freedom.

UU (12:10):
And Colin. Guess what? What? Listen to this.

S8 (12:16):
Galatians says, In Christ you are all children of God
through faith. When you put your faith in Jesus, you
become part of God's family and he becomes your father.

S2 (12:29):
He does. He does.

S8 (12:31):
And he is the perfect father. One that never leaves.

UU (12:36):
Never, Never. Huh? It's a.

S8 (12:43):
Gift. One that we have to decide to receive. Is
that a gift you want?

S2 (12:52):
I think so.

S8 (12:54):
I've been praying that you would. You have? Yeah. Ever
since I met you.

S2 (13:01):
Really?

S8 (13:04):
Thanks. You want to pray now?

S2 (13:08):
What would I say?

S8 (13:10):
Praying is just talking to God. Tell him how you feel.
Tell him. Tell him that you believe he is right.
You're wrong. And that you believe that Jesus is enough.

UU (13:23):
Okay. Hey, God! Honeycomb. Chronicoms.
