UU (00:07):
Sweeter than honey. Much better than gold. Searching the word.
See how the story unfolds in the Honeycomb Club. We
have fun with Max, Colin and Lena in the honey cast.
(00:29):
We will share a laugh. The Honeycomb Chronicles, honeycomb, The
Honeycomb Club, the Honeycomb Chronicles.
S1 (00:54):
Isaac, tuck in your shirt. It was so nice of
the sanchezs to invite us over. Let's try to look presentable.
S2 (01:02):
Uh, fine.
S3 (01:04):
I'm kind of nervous. Lina has a really big family.
S1 (01:08):
It will be different than our normal Thanksgiving, that's for sure.
But it really is nice not to have to think
about cooking.
S2 (01:16):
Oh, I can smell some food from out here.
S1 (01:18):
Oh. Me too. It smells delicious.
S3 (01:21):
I wonder if it's tamales. Tamales? Yeah. It's Lina's favorite
Thanksgiving dish.
S1 (01:27):
Oh, I don't know if I've ever had a tamale.
S3 (01:31):
Well, I think we just might get to try one today. Hola.
Happy thanksgiving. Come on.
S1 (01:37):
In. Happy thanksgiving.
S4 (01:39):
I'm so glad you made it.
S1 (01:41):
Thank you so much for having us. It smells delicious
in here.
S4 (01:45):
Thank you, thank you. Alejandro. Si. Please take this lovely
pie to the kitchen for me.
S5 (01:52):
Si. Welcome, Tuckers.
S4 (01:55):
Gracias. Come, come. You can put your coats in the
closet over there and then make yourself at home. Lisa,
you want to help me in the kitchen? We're just
wrapping up the last of the tamales.
S1 (02:07):
I'd love to help.
S4 (02:08):
Perfecto. Boys, most of the kids are downstairs playing.
S3 (02:12):
Okay, thanks.
S4 (02:14):
Of course. We'll call you when we're ready to eat.
S1 (02:18):
To be honest, Juanita, I don't think I've ever even
tried a tamale, so I'm not sure how much help
I'll be.
S4 (02:24):
While us. Sanchez's have been making tamales for generations, so
I bet by the time you leave, you'll be as
good as making tamales as we all are.
S1 (02:34):
Okay. Sounds good.
UU (02:44):
Hora de comer.
S4 (02:45):
It's time to eat. Wash those hands, por favor.
S6 (02:48):
Quickly. Oh, good. I'm so hungry.
S3 (02:52):
Me too.
S6 (02:52):
You have to try tamales.
S3 (02:55):
All right, I'll try one.
S6 (02:57):
Did I see you bring an apple pie?
S3 (02:59):
Yup. Does apple pie have marshmallow? Yeah. Lula, where did
you come from?
S6 (03:04):
Pie. Does it have marshmallows?
S3 (03:07):
I don't think so, but it's still my favorite.
S6 (03:11):
That's just because you haven't had a tamale before.
S3 (03:14):
A tamale would have to be really, really, really good
to knock an apple pie out of first place in
my heart.
S7 (03:23):
Okay.
S4 (03:24):
Can everyone hear me? Yep. I'm so glad that everyone
is here together. It is a great day to celebrate
all that God has blessed us with. Family, friends, food.
But before we fill our plates, let's remember the one
who gave us every good gift. Carlos, would you ask
(03:47):
God to bless our meal?
S8 (03:49):
Claro. It's good to be all together today. And Tucker family,
I am thankful you could join our loud group for
the afternoon. Let's pray together. Around here we like to
hold hands. If that's alright with you guys.
S1 (04:02):
Oh, yes. Of course.
S3 (04:04):
Huh? Shh. Just do.
S9 (04:06):
It. All right.
S8 (04:07):
Dear God. Heavenly father, we thank you so much for
this day.
S6 (04:18):
Psychological. Okay. Are you ready to try it?
S3 (04:21):
I think so. Do I eat this part? No.
S6 (04:24):
That's the corn husk. You do not want to eat that.
S3 (04:27):
Okay. I didn't know. Mm. It's pretty good.
S6 (04:34):
Pretty good.
S3 (04:35):
It's not my favorite, but it's not bad.
S6 (04:38):
Not my favorite.
S3 (04:39):
Well, it's definitely not on the same level as apple pie.
S10 (04:42):
Actually, I agree with that, too. Yeah.
S6 (04:45):
Really? You two? My own sisters. Yeah. I love sugar.
I guess I'm not surprised.
S3 (04:53):
But it is good.
S4 (04:56):
Oh, I see you tried one of my tamales. Colin,
what do you think?
S3 (05:00):
It's very good, Mrs. Sanchez.
S4 (05:02):
Thank you. There's plenty in there, so eat as many
as you can, okay.
S3 (05:06):
Uh, okay.
S6 (05:09):
She'll keep offering them to you until you leave.
S8 (05:13):
Hey, Colin. You try the tamales. Uh huh. Pretty delicioso, huh?
S3 (05:18):
Yes, sir.
S8 (05:19):
Hey, Lina told me you guys have been talking about
the life of Elijah for the past couple of weeks. Mhm.
So I thought I'd share one of my favorite stories
from Elijah's life with the whole crew. Today. Would that
be okay?
S3 (05:31):
Oh, yes.
S8 (05:32):
Bailey, I'll rally the troops in the living room in
a few minutes. See you guys in there.
S6 (05:37):
Thank you. Tio Carlos. He's the best storyteller. He really
makes things come to life.
S3 (05:43):
Cool. I'm excited to hear another story about Elijah.
S6 (05:47):
Me, too.
S8 (05:52):
All right. todos. Find a seat and get comfortable. But
not too comfy. I don't want you falling asleep on me.
And I'm looking at you. Alejandro.
S11 (06:02):
Hey.
S8 (06:02):
Hey. What? Recuerdas Christmas of last year. Cuando. You were
out like a light once we started reading the Christmas story.
S5 (06:09):
Listen, hermano, I can't help it if my beautiful wife's
cooking always puts me to sleep.
S8 (06:16):
Was the powerful word of God. Will hopefully keep you awake, huh?
But let's give it up for all the wonderful cooks
who made the most delicious food today. So many of
you know that Lina and her friends, Caitlin, who has
joined us today, and Max have been doing a podcast
with the Honeycomb Club, and this month they are learning
(06:37):
about Elisha. So I thought I would share one of
my favorite stories of his. Okay, vamonos. Here we go.
This is a story about a man named Naaman. He
was an important man, a commander of an army. Actually,
this army belonged to the king of Aram, which is
important to note, was not the chosen Israelite nation. The
(07:01):
king of Aram liked Naaman. He liked him a whole
lot because the Lord had given him victory. But Naaman
had a problem, a problem that no matter how valiant
a soldier he was, he could not fix it on
his own.
S12 (07:15):
Ma'am, what is it, young girl? Ma'am, I couldn't help
but notice that Naaman, your husband, has leprosy. Yes. He
has had the awful skin condition for quite some time now.
I can only imagine that it's awful. Perhaps even quite painful. Yes,
I imagine that to be true. But why do you
(07:35):
mention this? Well, I can't help but think. If only
my master, Mr. Naaman, would see the prophet from the
land I came from, he could be completely healed. Really? Oh, yes, ma'am.
This man of the living God has done many miracles.
I can't help but think that the master's leprosy would
(07:56):
be completely cured.
S8 (07:58):
You see, this young girl was a servant to name
his wife. She had been taken from Israel and knew
of Elisha and what he had done, and that he
had performed acts of God.
S4 (08:10):
Naaman my husband.
S12 (08:12):
You know the young girl that you brought home from Israel.
S1 (08:15):
Who now serves me?
S9 (08:17):
Yes.
S12 (08:17):
Well, she says, there is a prophet who is in
Samaria that can cure you from leprosy. Really?
S9 (08:23):
Well, I must go to my master, the king, and
see if he will allow me to go and see
if what the girl says is true.
S12 (08:28):
Yes. Go ask him.
S8 (08:32):
So Naaman went to the king, who not only let
Naaman make the trip, but sent him with a letter
for Israel's king that said, with this letter I am
sending my servant Naaman to you, so that you may
cure him of his leprosy. So Naaman traveled to the
king of Israel with the letter silver, gold and clothing.
When Naaman arrived to the king of Israel, he gave
(08:54):
the letter to the king, but his response was not
one that Naaman was expecting.
S2 (09:00):
Am I God? Can I kill and bring back to life?
Why does this fellow send someone to me to be
cured of his leprosy? See how he is trying to
pick a quarrel with me.
S8 (09:14):
The king was overwhelmed with the request. He read in
the letter. You see, he didn't have the power to
heal Naaman, and he thought the whole thing was a
trap from the other king. But that wasn't the case
at all. The news of the king ripping his clothes
spread to the prophet Elisha, who in return sent another
message to the king of Israel.
S13 (09:34):
Why have you torn your robes? Have the man come
to me, and he will know that there is a
prophet in Israel.
S8 (09:42):
So Naaman traveled to Elijah's house. When he got to
Elisha's door, his messenger told him to go wash himself
seven times in the Jordan River. This would be how
his skin would be healed. But Naaman didn't really like
that idea.
S9 (09:58):
I thought that he would at least come out to me,
that he would stand and call on the name of
the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot,
and cure me of my leprosy and the Jordan. Aren't
there better rivers in other places? Couldn't I wash myself
in those and be healed?
S8 (10:14):
My name is servant. Went to him and tried to
talk some sense into him. He got him to realize
that if Elisha would have asked him to do something huge,
he would have done it. So why not do this
simple thing? So that's what Naaman did. He went to
the Jordan River and dipped himself once, and then again,
and then again seven times, just as Elisha had told him.
(10:36):
And then you know what happened? What?
S3 (10:39):
What happened? Sorry, I got excited.
S8 (10:44):
No need to be sorry. It is exciting. So after
the seventh dip in the Jordan name, his skin was
completely healed. A true miracle. Naaman and all his attendants
went back to Elisha and stood before him.
S9 (10:58):
Now I know that there is no God in all
the world except in Israel. Please accept this gift.
S13 (11:05):
As surely as the Lord lives whom I serve. I
will not accept a thing.
S9 (11:11):
Please, please take something.
S13 (11:14):
I will not.
S8 (11:16):
And though Naaman tried to give him a gift, Elisha refused.
For Elisha knew that he was not the one who
really did the healing. It was God. And Naaman came
to realize that, too, for he made a commitment to
never make offerings or sacrifices to any other God but
the Lord.
S3 (11:36):
That's crazy. So Naaman was healed just by dipping himself
in the water seven times.
S8 (11:42):
Well, it it was really because of God's power. But
that's what God used to heal him. Yes.
S3 (11:48):
Elisha's life is so cool.
S10 (11:50):
My favorite character is the girl from the beginning. Me too.
S8 (11:54):
She's a pretty important character. God used her to help
Naaman know about Elisha and his god.
S3 (12:00):
Well, Elisha is my favorite.
S8 (12:03):
I think Elisha is pretty great myself, but we can't
forget about the main character, Naaman. No.
S6 (12:10):
Oh, was it Naaman's wife? She did seem to play
a big role in the story too.
S14 (12:15):
Ni tampoco. Who? God.
S6 (12:19):
Oh, Mr. Mitchell kind of said something like that too.
We should always ask ourselves what we can learn from
God from the stories of the Bible.
S8 (12:27):
That's a great question to ask. And what do you
think we can learn about him from Naaman's story?
S6 (12:33):
Well, he showed his power by healing Naaman.
S14 (12:35):
Absolutely.
S5 (12:37):
And that he was the one true God.
S11 (12:39):
Yep.
S8 (12:40):
There's one big thing I think of when I remember
this story. God is a God for all people.
S3 (12:47):
What do you mean?
S8 (12:49):
Yes. God made it really clear that he chose the
Israelites to be his people. But this story and many
others shows that his love reaches beyond the Israelites.
S14 (13:00):
Okay, Naaman.
S8 (13:02):
Was a foreigner. His ethnicity was different from Elisha's. But
God loved him and healed him.
S4 (13:08):
And I do love how God used that little girl to,
even though it must have been really hard to be
taken from her home and family, God still allowed her
to be used for his purposes.
S8 (13:19):
Yes, this God is the one true God and he
is for all people.
S4 (13:26):
Okay, who's ready for dessert?
S1 (13:37):
Your brother is a really good storyteller.
S4 (13:40):
Yes. My little brother Carlos has grown up to be
quite a gifted man of God. I didn't always think
that would be the case. Oh, he was always the
wild child of the family. But God really changed his
heart about ten years ago. Hmm. Did you know that
he is a pastor?
S1 (13:59):
No, I didn't know that.
S4 (14:01):
Oh, yes. You and your boy should join us sometime
for church.
S1 (14:05):
Oh, that would be nice.
S4 (14:07):
We would love to have you. And then if you
survive this crew today, we always have a meal together afterwards.
And you're welcome to join us.
S1 (14:16):
Well, I do work on Sundays, but I'll have to
look at my schedule.
S4 (14:21):
Please do. Pie is piling up here. Come and get
a plate, pie. It was so nice to have you.
S1 (14:35):
We had a wonderful time. Thank you so much for
inviting us.
S4 (14:39):
Do you need any more tamales to take home?
S1 (14:42):
I don't think so. We have plenty to get us
through the rest of this week. Bye, Colin.
S3 (14:47):
See you soon. See you. Lina.
S4 (14:50):
Isaac. It was great to meet you. Thanks for.
S2 (14:53):
Having us.
S4 (14:53):
Be safe now. And happy Thanksgiving.
S3 (14:55):
Thank you.
S1 (14:56):
Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you.
S2 (15:00):
Wow. That is a big family.
S1 (15:03):
It sure is. But they are all so kind.
S3 (15:07):
I like them, and I really like Tio Carlos. He's
a great storyteller.
S1 (15:13):
Yes, I really enjoyed his story, too.
S3 (15:16):
So, mom, do you think the God that they pray
to and love so much can be the same God
to us like he was for Elisha and Naaman? Mm.
S1 (15:29):
That is a good question, sweetie. A really good question.
UU (15:34):
