Sweeter than honey. Much better than.

UU (00:12):
Gold. Searching the word. See how the story unfolds in
the Honeycomb Club. We have fun with Max, Colin and
Lena in the honey cast. We will share a laugh.
The Honeycomb Chronicles, honeycomb, the Honeycomb Club, the Honeycomb Chronicles.

S2 (00:55):
Max. Goodbye. It's time to get up. Oh! Let's go.
Family devotions are in five minutes at the table. And
you know your dad likes his breakfast hot.

S3 (01:06):
Uh oh. Oh, no no no no. Oh, man. Totally forgot.
I put that water there last night.

S2 (01:15):
Max, two more minutes.

S3 (01:17):
Okay. Just cleaning up the water I just spilled.

S2 (01:20):
What was that?

S3 (01:22):
Uh, I mean, I'm just. I'll be right there. I'll
be right there. That's gonna have to do. Now, where
is my basketball jersey? Oh. Oh. Little funky. It's gonna
have to do.

S2 (01:48):
Maxwell, you don't seem yourself this morning. Are you okay?

S4 (01:52):
Your mother's right. You're usually bouncing some kind of ball
off your wall way before breakfast, and it looks like
you just rolled out of bed.

S2 (02:01):
Oh, and it smells like you just came from a
boys locker room.

S3 (02:05):
But I have to wear this today. It's career day
at the Honeycomb Club.

S2 (02:09):
Don't you have a clean uniform?

S3 (02:11):
I don't know, but this is my favorite one.

S2 (02:13):
Well, I can help you take a look after breakfast.
I'm fine if you come home smelling like that after
a game. But you are not going to leave my
house at the start of the day smelling like that?

S3 (02:24):
Yes, ma'am. This just isn't my day.

S4 (02:27):
Why do you say that?

S3 (02:29):
I just feel kind of off. I'm tired. My jersey stinks,
and I may or may not have spilled a glass
of water I left on my nightstand.

S2 (02:36):
Oh. Did you clean it up?

S3 (02:39):
Yes, ma'am. And I have to wear a jersey today. Mr.
Mitchell asked me to help him with the devotion at
the club this afternoon, and he wanted to make sure
I was going to wear one of my sports uniforms.

S2 (02:51):
Oh, really? What are you helping him with?

S3 (02:53):
I don't really know, but right now, I just wish
I could go back to bed.

S4 (02:58):
Oh, I'm sorry, bud. Well, maybe the verse for today
will give you some encouragement.

S2 (03:02):
Yes, that's a great idea.

S4 (03:04):
Okay. Let's see. Here we go. The verse for today
is Ephesians 610 finally, be strong in the Lord and
in his mighty power. That's a great reminder to be strong,
but not in our own strength. Max, I think God
had that just for you today.

S3 (03:22):
Huh?

S4 (03:23):
Well, on days that we don't quite feel ready for
the day, it's a good reminder that we aren't supposed
to be strong on our own. But with the strength
of God, our hard days remind us of that best sometimes.

S3 (03:34):
Oh, may I be excused?

S2 (03:37):
Do you want any more eggs?

S3 (03:38):
No. Thank you.

S2 (03:40):
Well, I guess you can go and see if you
can find a clean outfit for today.

S3 (03:44):
Thanks, but be quick.

S2 (03:45):
I want to pray together before your bus gets here.

S5 (03:54):
Max! Hey! Wait up!

S3 (03:56):
Ahoy there!

S5 (03:57):
I see you're wearing your elite luxury shoes again.

S3 (04:00):
You know it.

S5 (04:01):
I think I talked my mom into getting me some
for my birthday. Coming up. Yes.

S3 (04:05):
So cool.

S5 (04:06):
Yeah, I'm excited about it. But you did bring another
pair of shoes, didn't you?

S3 (04:13):
Uh, no. Why?

S5 (04:15):
Bra. It's gym today, and we have our big kickball game.

S3 (04:19):
Oh, you gotta be kidding me.

S5 (04:21):
I can't believe you forgot.

S3 (04:24):
Man, it has not been my day.

S5 (04:26):
Guess not. Are you gonna be able to run around
the bases in those?

S3 (04:30):
I don't know, these are basketball shoes. They aren't made
for kickball.

S5 (04:34):
Well, you better make it work. I want our team
to win. And you're our fastest runner. I just hope
those shoes don't slow you down.

S3 (04:42):
Yeah, I hope so, too.

S5 (04:44):
Well, see you. And gym.

S3 (04:47):
Yeah. Later, Gator.

S6 (04:56):
Here we are in the final week of kickball with
the game we have been working towards Mrs. Rodriguez and
Miss Butler's class versus Mr. Fredricks and Mrs. Woodroffe's class.
The team seemed to be an even split, but Mr.
Frederick's class does have Max Carpenter, who is one of
the fastest kids in the school. Okay, you all know
the rules by.

S7 (05:15):
Now as we've been working on kickball the last couple weeks.
Let's have Mr. Frederick's and Mrs. Waterhouse class be up
first to kick. That means Mrs. Rodriguez and Miss Butler's class.
You're in the outfield.

S5 (05:26):
Okay, Max, you should start us off.

S3 (05:29):
Uh, I don't know, guys.

S5 (05:31):
Come on. We want to start with a lead, and
I know you can get us one.

S3 (05:35):
Yeah, but the. But the kicks.

S5 (05:36):
You'll make it work. I know you will. Come on. Max! Max! Max! Max! Max! Max! Max!

S3 (05:44):
Max! Max!

S8 (05:45):
Max! Max! Max! Okay, okay. I'll go.

S6 (05:50):
Let's go. Looks like they've chosen Max to be first
to kick. He walks up to the plate. Come on, Max,
forget the shoes. We have Jill for Miss Butler's class.
About to roll the ball towards him and he makes contact.
But wait. The ball was kicked far and low and
there's something else flying in the air. Is that his shoe?
Max is running towards first base with one shoe on

(06:12):
and one shoe off. Charlie catches the shoe. Unfortunately, that
doesn't count against Max. He is running about as fast
as a cheetah with a sprained ankle, but he's going
for second base. Colin throws the ball to Charlie, who
passes it to Maddy on second and she catches it.
Max is out.

S3 (06:33):
Sorry, guys. It's not over.

S5 (06:35):
Yet. Guess those shoes really aren't great for running, huh?

S3 (06:40):
Nope. I needed my other shoes. I cannot believe I
forgot them.

S5 (06:44):
Yeah, it's a bummer.

S7 (06:46):
Johnny.

S3 (06:47):
You're up. Do better than I did.

S6 (06:50):
It's now Johnny's turn. Let's see if he can get
his team their first point. Whoa! You got this.

S3 (06:56):
You got this. This is so not my day.

S9 (07:05):
You know, I like the days. You take the bus
with us, Max.

S3 (07:08):
Yeah.

S9 (07:10):
Hey, are you still upset about the kickball game?

S3 (07:13):
Kind of. And I've just felt off all day.

S9 (07:15):
But you guys didn't lose.

S3 (07:17):
Well, we didn't win either.

S9 (07:19):
So it was a tie. I think that's kind of nice.

S3 (07:21):
Lena, you know, I don't really like ties, but it's
not so much that it's that I know I could
have played so much better if I would have just
remembered to bring the right shoes.

S10 (07:30):
Yeah. How are your strides? They get damaged at all.

S3 (07:34):
No. They're fine.

S10 (07:36):
Charlie really saved them from landing right into the dirt.
I'd say that was probably the most important catch of
the day.

S3 (07:43):
Yeah. At least the shoes didn't get messed up.

S9 (07:46):
Anyway, did you say that you were helping Mr. Mitchell today?

S3 (07:49):
Yeah, with the devotional, but I'm not sure with what, exactly.
He told me to meet him in the gym and
he would fill me in before we get started.

S9 (07:55):
Well, that's exciting. So I can tell that your dress
like a basketball player. But, Colin, you don't look that
different from your usual self.

S10 (08:05):
It's because I want to be a sound guy. They
don't have to dress a certain way.

S9 (08:09):
Got it. That explains the headphones. Okay, can you guys
guess what I am?

S10 (08:14):
Lena, we don't have to guess. You've told everyone since
kindergarten you planned to be a vet.

S9 (08:19):
Yeah. You're right. I guess that does take the fun
out of guessing.

S11 (08:23):
Okay, here we are. You all did a good job today.
Have fun and don't work too hard. Have a good one, everybody. Uh,
I really am hilarious.

S3 (08:35):
Hey, guys, I'm going to rush, so I'm ready for
the start of the club meeting. I'll see you guys afterwards. Okay.

S10 (08:40):
See you. Max.

S3 (08:41):
Ta ta for now.

S12 (08:49):
All right, let's get started. Nice. That was pretty quick today.
Welcome to Career Day. It's super fun to see how
each of you dressed for jobs that you hope to
one day have. Certain jobs require certain tools or uniforms
so that you can actually do your job. Up here
I have a few of our friends, each hoping to

(09:11):
do different jobs when they grow up. I'm going to
pass the microphone down the line, and they're going to
introduce themselves and share what they want to be when
they get older. We'll start right here.

S13 (09:20):
I'm Ruthie and I want to be a lawyer when
I grow up.

S3 (09:24):
Aloha. I'm Max and I want to play professional basketball
when I grow up.

S14 (09:28):
Hi, I'm Justin. I was up here the other day,
and I want to be a chef when I grow up.

S12 (09:34):
Thanks, Susie, Max and Justin. As you can see, each
of them is dressed very differently. Max is sporting a
jersey with some pretty snazzy shoes. Susie is wearing business
clothes and carrying a briefcase, and Justin is in a
chef's coat and hat. Now what if Justin would have
said that he wanted to be a lawyer? Could you
imagine him walking into a courtroom with his white coat

(09:55):
and tall, puffy hat? I don't think they would let
him in the room if he was carrying his pots
and pans. Too much noise. Or what if Susie showed
up on the basketball court wearing her heels and a blazer?
I'm sure you're fat, Susie, but I don't think you'd
run too quickly with those on. See, what we do
requires us to be ready, even in the way we dress.

(10:16):
Give it up for my helpers today. Yeah, you guys
can take a seat. Now, I want to show you
how this is true for us in our relationship with God, too.
In Ephesians chapter six, Paul introduces us to what we
call the armor of God. The passage starts by saying
this finally, be strong in the Lord and in his

(10:39):
mighty power. Hey!

S3 (10:40):
What? That was the first my dad read this morning. Cool.

S12 (10:45):
You see what we need to love and live for God.
He provides for us. He has given us the full
armor so that we can stand firm. That's what it
says in 613. Put on the full armor of God
so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
Do you guys know the pieces of armor that God
has given those that are in Jesus? You can yell

(11:06):
them out. Whoo!

S15 (11:08):
Helmet of salvation.

S12 (11:09):
That's right.

S3 (11:10):
Shoes of peace.

S11 (11:11):
Yep.

S16 (11:12):
Breastplate of righteousness.

S12 (11:14):
Good job.

S16 (11:15):
Shield of.

S12 (11:15):
Faith. Two more.

S3 (11:17):
Belt of truth.

S12 (11:18):
Good job. Anyone know the last one? Me. Sardis. Spirit.
There we go. Each piece of the armor is provided
by God through Jesus. With the protection Jesus offers, we
know that we can stand firm no matter how our
day is going, how we feel, or how people treat us.
Not that it's always going to be easy, but that

(11:40):
God has provided a way for us to fight the
real enemy when we're in him. It's important for us
to remember this as we go about our lives, so
that we can live out this truth each day. Okay,
let's close our time in prayer.

S3 (12:00):
Vicky. Mitch, my main man.

S12 (12:02):
Hey, Maximilian, thanks so much for helping me out today.

S3 (12:06):
Totes, bro. But actually, I wanted to thank you.

S12 (12:09):
Oh. For what?

S3 (12:10):
Well, what you shared today was really good for me.
Especially after the day that I had.

S12 (12:16):
Rough day, huh?

S3 (12:17):
Yeah. I was just off from the start.

S12 (12:20):
I've had those days before.

S3 (12:22):
I really think God was trying to remind me even
early this morning that he has given me what I
need to walk through this day. But I kind of
ignored him. I mean, I wasn't trying to ignore him,
but I just did.

S12 (12:33):
It's easy to get distracted by things, isn't it?

S3 (12:36):
Yeah. And to think that I could just try to
make my day better on my own. But what you
said about God providing all we need. That was really good.

S12 (12:45):
And absolutely true. In Christ, we're able to stand firm,
even though we can't on our own.

S3 (12:51):
That's rad.

S12 (12:53):
Totes rad indeed.

UU (12:56):
Honeycomb. Chronic cause.
