UU (00:07):
Sweeter than honey. Much better than gold. Searching the word.
See how the story unfolds in the Honeycomb Club. We
have fun with Max, Colin and Lena in the honey cast.
(00:29):
We will share a laugh. The honeycomb chronicles. Honeycomb. The
honeycomb club, the honeycomb chronicles.
S1 (00:57):
Good morning sweetie.
S2 (00:59):
Oh. Hi, mom.
S1 (01:01):
How'd you sleep?
S2 (01:03):
Uh. Pretty good. Glad to hear.
S1 (01:06):
It. Is Isaac still sleeping?
S2 (01:08):
Yeah, I think he's hit snooze, like, three times already.
S1 (01:12):
Isaac. Let's get moving, honey. Uh, good morning to you, too. So,
are you excited that it's your last day of school
for the week? An extra long weekend ahead.
S2 (01:27):
Uh, I guess. What are we doing for Thanksgiving, anyway?
S1 (01:33):
Well, I have an early shift Thursday morning, but I
thought maybe I'd pick up a small turkey, and we
could have that with some mashed potatoes that afternoon. How
does that sound? Mm.
S2 (01:43):
That sounds good.
S1 (01:45):
And maybe I'll even pick up an apple pie.
S2 (01:48):
One with the crumble on top.
S1 (01:49):
Why would I even bother with any other kind?
S2 (01:53):
Yes.
S3 (01:55):
Oh, did someone say apple pie?
S1 (01:58):
Well, if I would have known that those were the
magic words to get you out of bed, I would
have been saying apple pie every morning.
S4 (02:13):
Okay, class, we just have a few more minutes before
we're done for the week. I'd like you to pair
up with a partner. Wait, wait. One. Two. Three. All
eyes on me. Four.
S2 (02:24):
Five. Six. Close your lips.
S4 (02:26):
Thank you. Let me finish the directions before you take
any action, please. Like I was saying, when you're in
your pairs, I want you to choose one of your
favorite Thanksgiving dishes to describe. But here are the rules.
You can only use adjectives. It will be a good
practice as we've been learning good writing skills. See if
(02:46):
your partner can guess what you're describing with the adjectives
you choose. Okay, now you may move.
UU (02:56):
Hey, Colin. Hey, you want to pair up?
S2 (02:59):
Yes. Okay, great.
S4 (03:01):
I need to think for a minute. There's so many
different foods to choose from.
S2 (03:05):
Like what?
S4 (03:06):
Well, we have all sorts of food at our Thanksgiving table.
Both traditional American foods and Mexican foods.
S2 (03:12):
Oh, wow.
S4 (03:13):
So I would have to think of what my all
time favorite food would be.
S2 (03:17):
Well, I already know what I would choose already. Yep,
it's by far my favorite thing. Plus, we never have
too many things at Thanksgiving. My mom likes to, uh,
keep it simple. Oh, okay. Go ahead. Okay. Delicious.
S4 (03:35):
Really delicious. Of course, you're gonna think it's delicious.
S2 (03:39):
Oh, right. Okay. Uh, sweet.
S4 (03:43):
Oh. Pumpkin pie.
S2 (03:45):
You know, I'm not a fan of pumpkin. Okay. Okay. Sorry.
Go on. Gooey, but also kind of crunchy. Warm.
S4 (03:56):
Uh, apple pie.
S2 (03:58):
Mhm. Yeah. Oh I can almost taste it.
S4 (04:03):
Hey, come back to me, Colin. You'll have your pie
soon enough. It's my turn. Um. Okay. Soft. Steamy. I
like mine a little spicy.
S2 (04:14):
Uh, I'm gonna need some more adjectives.
S4 (04:16):
Flavorful. Um. Oh, Roald.
S2 (04:19):
What is this, a Thanksgiving food?
S4 (04:22):
What is at my house?
S2 (04:24):
The only cold food I know is a pumpkin roll.
S4 (04:27):
No, it's a tamale.
S2 (04:29):
Wait. It's not tamale. I mean.
S4 (04:32):
It is in English.
S2 (04:35):
Lina. I would have never gotten that.
S4 (04:37):
Well, it's my favorite thing at our Thanksgiving table.
S2 (04:41):
I don't think I've ever had a tamale.
S4 (04:43):
Oh, well, you're definitely missing out. And now I'm hungry.
S2 (04:47):
Oh. Me too.
S4 (04:51):
Please put your chairs back where they go. Have a
great holiday and I'll see you all next Monday. Thankful
for each of you. By Mrs. Rodriguez. I'm thankful for
you two by ma'am. Oh. Thanks, guys, by Colin. I'm
just gonna grab my coat and then we'll go to
the bus. Okay?
S2 (05:08):
Okay. I'll see you out there.
S4 (05:16):
Oh, it's just so cold.
S2 (05:20):
Yes it is.
S5 (05:21):
Come on in, everyone. It's nice and warm in here.
Aren't you all thankful for a building with heat?
S2 (05:26):
Yes, ma'am.
S4 (05:27):
Absolutely.
S5 (05:28):
Colin. Now, I thought I'd talk to you about wearing
a coat yesterday.
S2 (05:33):
Oh. Oops, guess I forgot.
S5 (05:37):
As a special treat, Mr. Mitchell has a bunch of
hot cocoa waiting for you all in the gym.
S2 (05:42):
Yeah. Well, it's no apple pie, but at least it's something.
S4 (05:50):
It's not apple either.
UU (05:52):
But I'm not complaining.
S6 (06:01):
Ow ow ow ow ow. It's so hot.
S4 (06:05):
Mm. I love.
S2 (06:06):
Marshmallows.
S4 (06:08):
I don't always get them in my hot chocolate. My
mom doesn't like to bring them out because Lula has
no self-control around them.
S2 (06:15):
Oh, yeah, I remember Lula loves the mallows. Uh huh.
S4 (06:20):
Oh, let's read some more about Elijah's story.
S2 (06:22):
Yeah, his story is actually pretty cool so far.
S4 (06:26):
Elijah did some pretty amazing things.
S2 (06:29):
I was skimming through some of Second Kings last night.
And you were? Yes. And did you know that he
did a bunch of crazy stuff with food, which seems
to be the topic of our entire day. Really?
S4 (06:43):
Here, let me grab my Bible.
S2 (06:45):
I think it was near the the big 4 or 5. Mm.
S4 (06:50):
Let's see. Looks like something with oil. Is that what
you're talking about?
S2 (06:55):
Well, I read that, but I thought the story about
the stew was really interesting.
S4 (07:01):
Okay. Ah, here it is. Chapter four, verse 38. It's
labeled death in the pot. Death in the pot?
S2 (07:08):
Yeah, death in the pot.
S4 (07:11):
Sounds a little intense. What's it about?
S2 (07:14):
Well, Elijah went to a place where there was a famine.
A bunch of prophets are with him. And he told
a servant to cook some stew for all of them. Okay,
so then a guy goes out and gathers some ingredients.
He finds a wild gourd and fills up the shirt
with as many as he can carry.
S4 (07:34):
That's funny, picturing an adult carrying a bunch of gourds
in his shirt.
S2 (07:39):
He added the gourds to the stew, but he had
no clue.
S4 (07:45):
No clue about what?
S2 (07:47):
That there was death in the pot. Dun dun.
S4 (07:50):
Dun. What?
S2 (07:52):
It turns out that the mystery gourd was poisonous, and
they discovered it while they were eating it. Uh huh.
And then Elisha just tells him to put some flour
in it. What? Right. How does that even happen? He
just told them to put flour in the stew, and
then it magically became good for them to eat. How
(08:13):
crazy is that? It's a miracle. It's nuts. I've never
heard of stuff like that before. Well, at least not
in real life.
S4 (08:22):
The Bible is full of stories like this.
S2 (08:25):
My mind was blown.
S7 (08:27):
Good day mates.
S4 (08:28):
Max Colin was just sharing what he read last night
about Elisha.
S7 (08:33):
Groovy.
S2 (08:34):
It's groovy. All right.
S4 (08:35):
It's fun to see you so excited, Colin.
S2 (08:38):
It's just that, you know, if these things really did happen,
then maybe, you know, it's just cool.
S4 (08:47):
It is. Max. Is that marshmallows and whipped cream in
your hot chocolate.
S7 (08:54):
Uh, duh.
S4 (08:56):
Respect any. Anyway, um, Colin was just sharing about one
of the miracles Elisha did. It has to do with food,
so we thought it would be a good tie in
with being Thanksgiving and all.
S7 (09:09):
Oh, yeah. That's a great idea.
S4 (09:11):
Did you say there was another story, Colin?
S2 (09:13):
Yes. It was right after the death in the pot one.
S7 (09:17):
Whoa! Death in the who?
S4 (09:19):
We'll fill you in in a minute. Okay. Go on. Colin.
S2 (09:22):
Okay, so apparently, a man brought Elisha 20 loaves of bread, which,
honestly seems like a lot to me, but it must
have not been.
S4 (09:33):
I'm sure the size of the loaves were probably different
back then. Yeah.
S2 (09:37):
And then Elisha told his servant to give it to
the people to eat.
S7 (09:43):
Okay.
S2 (09:44):
Well, the servant guy wasn't so sure because there were
a hundred men. He was like, how can this feed them?
But Elisha was like, give it to the people. The
Lord says they will eat and have some left over.
S4 (10:02):
And and what Colin.
S2 (10:05):
And they did, it was just as Elisha said, are
crazy stuff.
S4 (10:13):
It is. But it reminds me of Jesus feeding the 5000.
S7 (10:17):
Oh. Me too. Lina.
S2 (10:18):
What?
S4 (10:19):
Well, there's this miracle that Jesus did that was similar.
He took five loaves and two fish, and he fed
a crowd of over 5000.
S2 (10:28):
5000? Are you kidding me? You mean there are more
stories like this?
S4 (10:34):
That's what I meant when I said it earlier. The
Bible is full of them.
S7 (10:38):
Chock full of them, mate.
S2 (10:40):
Wow. I might just have to read more of the Bible. Yes.
S4 (10:44):
It's a really great book full of amazing stories.
S7 (10:46):
Sometimes I forget how exciting these stories are. But, Collin,
you're right. They are amazing.
S4 (10:53):
Okay, so let's now ask the question Mr. Mitchell said
would be helpful when we look at Elisha's life. What
can I learn about God from this story?
S2 (11:02):
That he lets really cool things happen?
S7 (11:04):
That's so true. Okay.
S4 (11:08):
What else? How about that? He provides.
S7 (11:11):
Oh yes. He provided food for the prophets.
S4 (11:14):
In both of the stories you shared. Colin.
S2 (11:16):
Yeah, I guess you're right.
S7 (11:18):
And also that he is powerful. He gave Elisha the
power to do all this cool stuff.
S8 (11:25):
He is powerful.
S4 (11:27):
Anything else?
S2 (11:29):
Uh, nothing I can think of.
S4 (11:32):
Okay, well, that's a good list. Are you guys done
with your hot chocolate?
S7 (11:38):
Yep.
S4 (11:39):
Uh huh. Okay, great. Let's go to the studio then,
and maybe think of some ways that we can incorporate
these stories into the podcast.
S7 (11:45):
Sounds good. I do need to run to the bathroom
real quick, though. But I'll meet you guys there. Yeah.
S4 (11:51):
I'm actually gonna run real fast to ask Miss Stacy
a question, but it shouldn't take long. Okay.
S2 (11:57):
I guess I'll go turn things on.
S4 (11:58):
Great. We'll be there soon.
S2 (12:08):
Mm. God provides. God. Is that true? Do you still
provide for people? I could really use some things. Oh.
What am I doing?
S7 (12:23):
Ah, that feels better. Oh, Colin, I almost forgot. Yeah.
So my mom had me bring my old coat in
to see if you could use it. I don't know
if you'd be interested at all, but you can try
it out.
S2 (12:35):
Really?
S7 (12:36):
Yeah. Here. You want to try it on?
S2 (12:38):
Sure. Oh, it's really nice and warm.
S7 (12:43):
Well, it's yours if you want it. Yes.
S2 (12:46):
I mean, yeah, this is great.
S7 (12:49):
Thanks, Brad. Glad you could use it. That coat and
I had some great memories together last year. I'm back.
Everything okay? Lena?
S4 (12:59):
Yeah. I actually just went to borrow Miss Stacy's phone
to call my mom. Why? Well, I wanted to double
check with her about something. And, Colin, if you and
your family want. You're welcome to join my family for Thanksgiving.
S2 (13:12):
Really?
S4 (13:13):
Yeah. With our conversation about tamales earlier, I thought it
would be a great time for you to join us
if you want to. Of course. Cool. My mom said
that she would call your mom, but I thought it
would be really fun.
S2 (13:25):
Yeah. It would. Cool.
S4 (13:28):
Okay. Should we brainstorm a bit more?
S7 (13:30):
Yeah. For sure.
S2 (13:32):
Ha! That was crazy. What was that? Uh, nothing.
S4 (13:38):
Okay, so I was thinking that we could open up.
UU (13:42):
The Honeycomb Chronicles.
