Welcome to the Honeycomb Club! In this episode Lina learns why it’s better to be honest when we make mistakes instead of covering them up, and how the Holy Spirit uses conviction to get us to seek forgiveness. The Honeycomb Chronicles is a fun faith filled audio drama done in partnership with Moody Bible Institute’s very own Today in the Word’s Family Study. UU (00:01):
We start here, we start. I want to open the
glitter markers first. Just wait a minute, Lola.

S1 (00:05):
What do you think? Lina, do you have everything you need?

S2 (00:08):
Yeah, I think so. Gracias, mama. Thank you so much.
I'm so excited.

S1 (00:12):
Then. Nada. I'm glad I got to pull out my
sewing machine. It's been a while.

S2 (00:17):
These capes are perfect. This is exactly what I had
in mind.

S1 (00:20):
Well, I have no doubt they'll be even better when
you girls are finished decorating them.

S2 (00:26):
I think so too. I just love Happy Hive days.

S1 (00:30):
It is such a fun week and my trash chicas
de capas are going to look very super for Super
Hero Day tomorrow. And sparkly, yes and sparkly. But please
remember that all crafting stays on the fabric c c
we don't want a repeat of the last project, right?
Lula Sema, maybe your big sisters can make sure you

(00:51):
handle that glitter responsibly. Yes, mama. Okay. Happy crafting.

S2 (00:57):
Okay, let's get started. I'll turn some music on.

S3 (00:59):
I want the yellow cape.

UU (01:08):
Sweeter than honey. Much better than gold. Searching the word.
See how the story unfolds in the Honeycomb Club. We
have fun with Max, Colin and Lena in the honey cast.

(01:30):
We will share a laugh. The Honeycomb Chronicles, honeycomb, the
Honeycomb Club, the Honeycomb Chronicles.

S2 (01:54):
What if we put a big.

S3 (01:56):
Star in the middle with our names? Oh, I.

S2 (01:58):
Really like that idea. Maybe just the first letter of
our names, though. It might be easier. Yeah. Nina. Can you.
And what if we add swirls with the glitter markers.

S3 (02:06):
Swirls and maybe little.

S2 (02:07):
Hearts? A heart is always a good idea. Just a minute. Lula,
we're planning out the Cape design.

S3 (02:14):
Okay. Can you hand me that paper? I want to
practice my heart. Yeah.

S2 (02:18):
Here you go. I'm gonna practice a star. Those can
be tricky. Oh, yeah.

S3 (02:21):
I can never get them the way I want.

S2 (02:23):
Hey, Lula, don't you want to practice drawing? Lula, what
are you doing? Uh, just adding.

S3 (02:28):
Sparkle to the wall. Lula, why did you do that?

UU (02:31):
I guess I got bored. Lula, you know better than that. Hey!
Don't grab. I was using it. Using it on the wall.
These markers are made for fabric. Oh, I don't know
if this is gonna come off.

S2 (02:44):
Bella. Mira, can you go to the kitchen to get
a wet rag? Wait. No, go to the bathroom. I
don't want my mom asking any questions.

S3 (02:50):
Right. Sparkles are.

S2 (02:52):
Pretty. Not on mama's wall. Lula, what were you thinking?

UU (02:57):
I told you to help me. And you were with Bella.
You were paying attention. But you need to be patient.

S2 (03:02):
We were going to help you. We were planning the capes.
You weren't listening to me.

S3 (03:08):
Okay, here you go. Lena.

S2 (03:09):
Oh, I hope this works.

S3 (03:11):
Is it coming off? No. What are we gonna do? Um.

S2 (03:16):
I think a piece of paper will cover it up.

S3 (03:19):
You want to cover it? Well, I.

S2 (03:20):
Don't really want to get in trouble, do you?

S3 (03:22):
But we didn't even do anything wrong. Lula's the one
who drew on the wall. You guys were supposed to help.

S2 (03:29):
Me, right? Lula, draw a picture on a piece of
paper here. Okay, we'll tape it up, and then maybe
we can scoot one of the chairs in front of it, too.
Hopefully mama won't notice.

S3 (03:38):
You think it will work?

S2 (03:40):
Well, it's worth a try. I don't want anything getting
in the way of Happy hive days.

S3 (03:43):
Yeah. Me either, I guess so.

S2 (03:46):
Let's not say anything about the wall. That means you too, Lula. Okay, okay.
And when you're done with the picture, give it to me,
and then I'll help you with your cape.

S3 (03:54):
Yay! So, should I keep working on my cape?

S2 (03:57):
Yes, yes. Just let's work on the capes.

UU (04:00):
Let's make them beautiful.

S4 (04:09):
Lena. Wow, Lena, you really went all in with the
superhero theme.

S2 (04:16):
Oh, yeah. Happy days is one of my favorite weeks
of Honeycomb Club.

S4 (04:20):
The cape is nice.

S2 (04:21):
Me and my mom made it. She made one for
me and both of my sisters.

S4 (04:25):
Wow. Yeah.

S2 (04:27):
Here's the matching mask.

S4 (04:29):
It's really shiny. Lots of.

S2 (04:32):
Sparkle. Yeah. The Sunkist girls really like glitter. Especially Lula.

S4 (04:38):
Well it's nice. Thanks.

S2 (04:40):
Your Doctor Bolt shirt is cool.

S4 (04:43):
It used to be my brother's. It was all I
could find that had a hero on it.

S2 (04:46):
It does the job.

S4 (04:48):
Lena, for saying you love happy hive days so much,
you don't seem to be very happy. I don't.

S5 (04:55):
Not really. All right. Superheroes. Happy hive days. Have a
super time.

S2 (05:03):
Let's go. There's special club meetings during Happy Hive days.
I don't want to be late. Okay. Thank you, Mr. George.

S5 (05:12):
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nope. It's
just Mr. George doing his job. You're welcome. You guys
have a good rest of your day. Thank you.

S6 (05:27):
Happy hive days. It's going to be a great week.

S2 (05:30):
Hi, Miss Stacy.

S6 (05:32):
Great costume. Lena, your sisters have ones that look similar.
Did your mom make all of them?

S2 (05:37):
Yes, ma'am.

S6 (05:38):
She's so talented. What would you say? Fabulosa.

S2 (05:42):
Yeah. That's right.

S6 (05:44):
Awesome. Head down to the gym with everybody else and
I'll see you there.

S2 (05:48):
Okay. Thanks.

S4 (05:50):
She's always so bubbly. Lena. Huh? What, are you upset
about your grades again?

S2 (05:58):
No, no. Come on. I hear music starting. Let's hurry.

S7 (06:05):
Who's ready to kick off this year's Happy Hive Day? Yay!
That's what I like to hear. Happy Hive Days is
a special week here at the Honeycomb Club. We get
to have a bunch of fun dressing up and start
all of our time together. We get to vibe in
the hive. Ooh. Okay, okay, I get it. I tried

(06:27):
too hard. But on a serious note, this year's spiritual
theme for Hive Days is drumroll please clothing what we thought.
Since we dress up each day, why not take a
look at clothes throughout different parts of the Bible?

S8 (06:43):
Oh, and.

S7 (06:45):
Today we're going to take a look at the first
ever clothes in the Bible.

S4 (06:49):
Okay. Do you know this story?

S3 (06:52):
I don't know, Probably.

S7 (06:53):
To be honest, this is a sad story. It takes
place in Genesis three, right after Adam and Eve sinned
for the first time.

S4 (06:59):
Adam and Eve.

S3 (07:00):
They were the first.

S2 (07:01):
People God created.

S4 (07:02):
Oh, okay.

S7 (07:04):
After they sinned, their eyes were opened in a way
that showed them that they were without clothes.

S4 (07:10):
They didn't have any clothes on.

S2 (07:12):
No, because there was no.

S9 (07:13):
Sin, but.

S4 (07:14):
No.

S9 (07:14):
Clothes. I'm trying to listen.

S7 (07:16):
Because of their sin, they felt shame. They became afraid
of God because they knew they disobeyed him. They tried
to hide from God, and they tried to cover up
their shame by sewing leaves together.

S9 (07:27):
Like what?

S7 (07:29):
Oh, nothing. Yes. The first ever clothes were a way
to help cover sin. But even though Adam and Eve
had just directly disobeyed God, he was kind to them.
He loved them by making better clothes for them. Here
I'm going to have Justin read Genesis 321 for us.

S10 (07:47):
The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and
his wife, and clothed them.

S7 (07:52):
Thanks, Justin. You see, God covered his people with something
better than they could come up with, but it came
at a cost. An animal died, and we've worn clothes
ever since. And though clothes are important to us and
our culture today, they don't take care of sin. We
can't do anything ourselves that will cover up or take
care of sin. And as you can see, Justin, along

(08:14):
with many of you, are wearing superhero costumes today. Justin,
who are you?

S10 (08:20):
Captain cranium.

S7 (08:22):
That's why you have a big inflatable head. I thought
something about you looked different, but really, there is no
inflatable head or cape or mask that would really ever
cover who we really are. But there is a covering
that does. And that is Jesus himself. If we are
covered by him, our sin is completely washed away. It's

(08:44):
like we're given his life to wear, not our own. Huh? Okay,
let's pray.

S4 (08:54):
Oh, look, there's Max. Max! Over here!

S11 (08:58):
Hidey ho. Good neighbors. How are you all doing?

S4 (09:01):
Great. Nice cape. Thanks.

S11 (09:04):
Our basketball team had a superhero party last year, so
it has my number on it.

S4 (09:07):
Number 23. Nice. Yeah.

S11 (09:10):
So I'm guessing clothing is our theme for our next episode.

S4 (09:14):
Sounds like it.

S11 (09:15):
Should we head to the studio and talk through where
we might want the show to go? This month, we were.

S4 (09:19):
Just headed that way. Lena.

S2 (09:21):
Huh? Oh, um, I'll meet you guys there. I'm gonna
see if Miss Stacy can chat for a minute, okay.

S11 (09:27):
You okay?

S2 (09:27):
Lena? Yeah, I'll be fine. Um, I'll meet with you
guys in a bit.

S4 (09:33):
I don't know what's up with her. She's been off
all day.

S11 (09:36):
Well, Miss Stacy is great and so cheery. She should
be able to help her out.

S2 (09:45):
Uh, hey, Miss Stacy, uh, do you have a minute
to chat.

S6 (09:50):
Lina? Of course. Come on in. Wasn't what Mr. Mitchell
shared so interesting? I don't know if I ever really
thought about the first ever clothes.

S2 (10:00):
Uh, yeah. Yeah.

S6 (10:02):
And how kind God was to provide a covering for
Adam and Eve. One better than their own. Uh huh.
But I'm guessing you didn't come in here to talk
more about clothes.

S2 (10:14):
No. Not really.

S6 (10:16):
Okay, well, what do you want to talk about?

S2 (10:19):
Well, I feel I just kind of. I was feeling.

S6 (10:26):
What are you feeling? Are you okay? Lina?

S2 (10:30):
I'm just feeling so guilty.

S6 (10:32):
Guilty about what?

S2 (10:34):
Well, I kind of made a big mistake this past weekend,
and I've been trying to cover it up.

S6 (10:38):
A big mistake. What happened?

S2 (10:41):
Well, okay. It all started when we were working on
the superhero costumes. And while my mom asked me to
watch over Lula and Bella because we were working together.
And you know, Lula, she has nada de paciencia. And
I turn around for like five seconds and I'm talking
about swirls with Bella. And then when I turn around,
there's just glitter all over the wall, and Lula is
holding all of the markers and.

S6 (10:58):
Whoa, whoa. Okay, I'm gonna need you to slow down
just a little bit. Did you say that Lula drew
on the wall?

S2 (11:04):
Yeah, with the glitter fabric marker.

S6 (11:06):
That girl sure loves her glitter, doesn't she? But why
do you feel guilty about that? It sounds like that
was Lula's decision.

S2 (11:15):
Well, I was supposed to be watching and helping her,
so I was afraid I'd get in trouble. So I
had Lula make a picture on a piece of paper
to cover it up on the wall. And then I
told them both not to tell mama or papa, and, well,
I've just felt awful ever since.

S6 (11:31):
I see.

S2 (11:33):
I just didn't want to ruin the fun of making
our costumes. But then the fun never came. I decided
to cover it up and keep it from my parents.

S6 (11:41):
Lina. Yes, thanks for sharing.

S2 (11:47):
Thank you for listening.

S6 (11:48):
And I'm glad you feel guilty. What you are. Yes.
It shows that you know what is right and wrong,
and it shows that the Holy Spirit is leading you,
just as Jesus promised he would.

S2 (12:01):
So I should feel guilty.

S6 (12:04):
Well, convicted. Yes, you did mess up. You lied to
your parents in a way by not letting them know something. Yeah.
And what do you think you need to do now?
I should probably tell them. I think that would be
a good way to start.

S2 (12:19):
To start?

S6 (12:20):
Well, you also led your sisters to not share with
your parents. So I think asking for their forgiveness would
be important as well.

S2 (12:28):
I guess you're right.

S6 (12:30):
You know, there's no accident that Mr. Mitchell shared the
story that he did today. Really? Really. Adam and Eve
tried to hide their sins as well, but they couldn't.
Not from God. And they not only had guilt, but shame.
They were given clothes, close, but that wouldn't cover their mistakes.
Not fully. What did do you remember? Uh, well, it's

(12:53):
really a question of who did.

S2 (12:55):
Well. Who did?

S6 (12:56):
Jesus. He's the real superhero. He came and gave his
life so that his perfect, sinless life could be given
for ours. When we believe in Jesus. It's like his
life is put over our own before God's eyes. Wow.

S2 (13:11):
I never thought about it that way.

S6 (13:13):
It's truly amazing. And though you messed up, I know
you've put your faith in Jesus, so you're forgiven, but
that doesn't mean you don't still need to make things
right before God and others.

S2 (13:25):
That's hard.

S6 (13:26):
It is. But would you like to start by asking
God for forgiveness together? Yeah, I'd like that. Okay, let's
pray together.

UU (13:38):
