S1 (00:03):
I can't believe it's already December.

S2 (00:05):
Tempus fugit. Huh?

S1 (00:08):
Double, huh? What on earth does that mean?

S2 (00:11):
Time flies. I think it's Latin.

S1 (00:14):
So now not even you know what you're saying.

S3 (00:17):
Yep. According to the internet, it's Latin. How did you
even know that?

S2 (00:23):
I don't even know, guys.

S1 (00:24):
Anyway, this is simply the best time of the year.

S2 (00:29):
Oh for sure. Ice hockey. Snowball fights, sledding, skiing. It's
a great season for sports.

S1 (00:36):
And.

S2 (00:38):
And seriously, you guys.

S3 (00:42):
Oh, shoot. Dude, I think it's her birthday this month.

S1 (00:47):
Oh, no, no, it's not my birthday, but.

S2 (00:52):
Oh, well, of course. Christmas.

S1 (00:55):
Yes, Christmas.

S2 (00:58):
Well, I thought that was a given.

S3 (00:59):
Yeah, and it's kind of overrated anyway.

S1 (01:02):
Overrated. Overrated.

S3 (01:04):
There's just so much, you know, hoopla. Uh, sure. It
just seems like a big deal to everyone. And, I
don't know, I just don't always like Christmas time.

S1 (01:16):
Well, I love it. The decorations, the music, the gifts,
the celebration of Jesus. I agree with that one song.
It's the most wonderful time of the year.

UU (01:33):
Sweeter than honey. Much better than gold.

S4 (01:40):
Searching the word.

UU (01:42):
See how the story unfolds in the Honeycomb Club. We
have fun with Max, Colin and Lena in the honey cast.
We will share a laugh. The Honeycomb. Honeycomb honeycomb. The

(02:07):
honeycomb cluster honeycomb honeycomb.

S2 (02:21):
So to get old Saint Mitch, give us our theme
for the podcast this month.

S1 (02:24):
He said he would stop by when he was finished
with his meeting, but I can only imagine it'll have
something to do with Christmas.

S2 (02:30):
Yeah, I figured.

S3 (02:32):
Yeah, I figured that too.

S5 (02:36):
Ho ho ho. How is the honey cast crew today? Mitch?

S2 (02:41):
Mitch, your timing is impeccable.

S1 (02:44):
Yeah, we were just talking about you.

S3 (02:46):
Hi, mister. Mitchell.

S5 (02:47):
Good to see you all. So Christmas time, am I right?

S1 (02:52):
I know, I'm so excited. Please tell us what our
theme is for this month's podcast.

S5 (02:56):
It will definitely focus on Christmas.

S1 (03:00):
Yes, I knew it.

S5 (03:01):
But I want you all to look at the Christmas
story a little differently than you maybe have before.

S3 (03:07):
That should be easy for me. I don't know how
much I've actually looked at the Christmas story.

S2 (03:12):
Oh, really? What do you mean, Mitch?

S5 (03:15):
Well, before I tell you, I want you to experience it.

S2 (03:22):
Crickets. Yeah.

S3 (03:23):
I'm lost.

S1 (03:24):
What do you mean, Mr. Mitchell?

S5 (03:26):
Don't worry. It shouldn't be hard or confusing. I just
want each of you to think of something that you
want for Christmas.

S1 (03:34):
Oh, I've already done that. I have lists and everything.

S3 (03:38):
Of course you do.

S1 (03:39):
Do you want to see it?

S5 (03:40):
Look. No, no, no, not right now. I wasn't quite finished. Oh, sorry.
I want each of you to think of something. You
want one thing, not a list. This would be the
thing that you would want more than anything else.

S1 (03:58):
That's a little harder.

S2 (04:00):
I think I might know mine.

S5 (04:02):
And once you've decided on what that one thing is,
I want you to think through how it will change
your life. What would change? What would it bring you
that you don't already have?

S1 (04:13):
We can do that. Right, guys?

S2 (04:15):
You know it.

S3 (04:16):
I guess so.

S5 (04:17):
Great. And once you get that, come to my office
and share it with me. And then I'll share with
you the complete topic for this month's honey cast.

S1 (04:27):
Do you want us all to come to you as
a group?

S5 (04:29):
Uh, I don't think so. I think I'll have a
little something different for each of you to think through.

S2 (04:36):
Okay, Mitch. My man, what you up.

S5 (04:39):
To? Just wanting this Christmas to be one we all
can learn from and remember.

S2 (04:44):
Okey dokey. Artichokey.

S5 (04:46):
You guys know what to do.

S1 (04:47):
Yes.

S5 (04:48):
Okay. Excited to hear about what you're all hoping to receive.

S1 (04:53):
We'll have it for you soon. Do you guys want
a piece of paper to write down your thoughts?

S3 (04:58):
No, thanks. I actually think I might go visit Mr. Shades.
Sometimes he helps me think.

S2 (05:04):
And shooting hoops helps me.

S1 (05:06):
Okay, well, I'm just gonna stay here and jot my
thoughts down.

S3 (05:09):
Sounds good. We'll see you in a bit.

S2 (05:12):
Peace out, Girl Scout. Max dribbles up the middle. He
fades right, goes left. Shake and bake. That kid knows
how to move. You're telling me, Tom. Ever since Max
Carpenter bounced back from that skydiving incident where he tore
both of his ACLs, he's been on fire. What a

(05:34):
comeback story. And he charges into the paint. Lowers his shoulder.
Jumps back. Fadeaway. Nothing but net. The crowd goes.

S5 (05:44):
Wild. They shot Max.

S2 (05:47):
Mitch! Mitch! I didn't see you come in.

S5 (05:50):
I just walked in in time to see that fadeaway.
I thought you were Michael Jordan for a second.

S2 (05:55):
Hey, you know, I try. Shooting hoops helps me think, though.
I get that, and I actually was about to come
and find you because I think I know what my
answer to your question is. You do? Yep. I was
pretty sure I knew what I wanted right away, but
I just had to think through how it would change
my life. I sorted that out a bit while I
was playing.

S5 (06:14):
Okay, great. Shoot.

S2 (06:17):
Well, first, what I want most for Christmas is the
elites quantum lift sneakers.

S5 (06:22):
Oh, wow. Those are a limited release, right?

S2 (06:25):
Yep. Elite tells you to keep looking at their website
starting on specific day. Then you have to keep a
close eye on it because no one really knows exactly when.
But at some point after the given date, at any time,
they drop 200 pairs of the quantum lifts.

S5 (06:40):
Oh, wow. Only 200.

S2 (06:42):
Mhm. And they go quick.

S5 (06:45):
So that's what you want the most.

S2 (06:47):
Oh yeah. I try to get the ones they released
last summer but I didn't get him in time. This
time I have my mom, my aunt, and even my
grandma who barely knows how to log into her computer,
checking the site at different times of the day.

S5 (07:00):
Oh wow, you really do want them? Yeah.

S2 (07:04):
More than anything else.

S5 (07:06):
And why? What would change in your life?

S2 (07:09):
Oh, it would change a whole lot. Picture this. My
mom hands me a gift on Christmas morning. Another one? Mom,
you really didn't have to.

S6 (07:23):
Oh, Max, you're our favorite child and so talented. We
just wanted to give you a gift to show you that.

S5 (07:31):
Uh. Aren't you an only child?

S2 (07:33):
Yes. And that makes me their favorite. Back to my
Christmas morning. I open the box and the elite quantum lifts.

S6 (07:43):
We knew you wanted them.

S7 (07:45):
They weren't easy to get. But, my boy, you are
worth it. You are the perfect son.

S8 (07:53):
Wow.

S2 (07:54):
They're the socks, and they fit perfectly. And they do
fit perfectly. And I wear them in the next basketball season.

S9 (08:04):
He shoots and he scores. Max is on fire tonight.
He's getting some serious lift with those beautiful elite lift shoes.
They are making him fly.

S2 (08:16):
Then my aunt will post a few of my epic
shots online. They'll go viral, of course, and soon the
elite company will notice and beg me to be a sponsor.
This will give me direct access to every shoe drop
in the future. So I'll continue to wear them throughout
all of high school. And then during my last game
my senior year.

S9 (08:36):
It has been quite a season for Max Carpenter. He
has not missed a basket for the last eight years.
Ever since he put on the elite lift shoes, he
has been unstoppable and I don't want to put more
pressure on him. But there are some NBA scouts out
here tonight and they are looking pretty interested. And Max
beats the buzzer with another amazing jump shot.

S2 (08:58):
And I get signed with an NBA team on the spot.
I make lots of money. Keep getting free elite shoes
and am loved by everyone.

S5 (09:08):
Wow. All that from a pair of shoes for Christmas. Yep.

S2 (09:14):
Pretty stellar pair of shoes.

S5 (09:16):
They sure sound like it. Thanks for sharing.

S2 (09:19):
Of course. So why did you want to know that?

S5 (09:22):
Well, for this month, we're talking about how Jesus was
waited for.

S10 (09:28):
Waited for.

S5 (09:30):
Yes. You see, this time of year is often called advent.

S8 (09:34):
Oh, yeah.

S2 (09:36):
I've heard of that before.

S5 (09:37):
It means coming. It's the time of waiting for the
celebration of Jesus's birth. Something that we get to celebrate
by looking back and remembering. But for those that were
alive before Jesus was born, they were looking forward to it.
They wanted him more than anything else.

S8 (09:56):
Mm.

S2 (09:57):
That makes sense.

S5 (09:59):
And there is a specific group of people that were
waiting for Jesus that I want you specifically to think
about as you prepare for this honey cast episode.

S8 (10:09):
Okay. Who?

S5 (10:10):
The shepherds.

S2 (10:12):
The shepherds?

S8 (10:13):
Yes.

S5 (10:15):
I couldn't help but notice, at the end of your
hopes for how the elite shoes would change your life.
You said that you would be loved by everyone.

S8 (10:24):
Oh, yeah.

S2 (10:25):
That's the dream.

S5 (10:27):
And it's not bad to be liked. I think that's normal.
But the group of shepherds. Well, they weren't well liked.

S8 (10:34):
Oh they weren't?

S5 (10:35):
No. In Jesus's day, shepherds were really low on the
cool chart.

S8 (10:40):
Why?

S5 (10:42):
Well, it was a stinky, messy job. It was usually
given to young people or people who weren't seen as
very important.

S2 (10:49):
Oh, I didn't know that. Why am I supposed to
think about them?

S5 (10:54):
Well, part of your hope with your shoes is that
you'll be seen as really important by others. Would you
say that's true?

S2 (11:02):
Yeah. I do like to look groovy.

S5 (11:07):
And a certain group of shepherds the night of Jesus
birth discovered just how important they really were. Not based
on what others thought about them, what they wore, or
what their job was, but based on what God thought
about them and shared with them.

S2 (11:23):
I think I know what that was.

S5 (11:25):
I bet you've heard the story before. I want you
to reread it and think about what it must have
been like for a group of smelly, uncool men to
experience what they did that night.

S2 (11:37):
Okay, where is that found again? Luke two. Bingo. Bingo
will do. Thanks, Amelia.

S5 (11:44):
You bet. Now ball up.

S2 (11:47):
Let's see what you got.

S1 (11:50):
Mr. Mitchell, there you are. I think I'm ready with
my answer.

S5 (11:54):
Oh, okay. Wait.

S1 (11:56):
My notes are in the studio.

S5 (11:58):
Why don't you grab them and I'll meet you in
my office? Okay, okay.

S8 (12:02):
Lina!

S2 (12:02):
Wait up. I'm coming too.

S5 (12:10):
What a nail biter it's been tonight, folks. You can
say that again, Tom. It's been back and forth the
whole game. Now we're down to the last three seconds.
If I'm not mistaken. Yes. It looks like they're subbing
in the Wonder Boy himself, Lucas Mitchell. And there's the pass.
It's to Lucas. No surprise. He dribbles to the half court.
He's out of time. He shoots. Still got it.

UU (12:36):
Honey, come. Chronic colds.
