UU (00:10):
Hola y Bienvenidos. Welcome to the Honey Cast.
S1 (00:13):
A show made by kids for kids where we dig
into truths from the Bible.
S2 (00:18):
My name is Catalina, but my friends call me Lina.
S1 (00:20):
What's crackalacking? I'm Max, and we're your hosts.
S3 (00:23):
And I'm Collin. The more behind the scenes audio guy.
S2 (00:27):
We're glad you've joined us today.
S1 (00:28):
And for today's episode theme. Lina, do you want to
do the honors? Sure.
S2 (00:32):
Collin. Drumroll, please.
S3 (00:35):
You got it.
S2 (00:38):
Clothing. Say what? You heard that right. Our theme for
today's episode is clothing. There are different parts of the
Bible that involve some important parts of clothing. And we'll
talk about some of that today.
S1 (00:50):
Interesting. But before we jump into that, I have a
question for you. Really? What? What did one hat say
to the other?
S2 (00:59):
I don't know what.
S1 (01:00):
You stay here. I'll go on ahead.
S2 (01:04):
Good one.
S1 (01:06):
Colin, you know what to do. Got it. Okay. Wait, wait, wait,
I have another. What kind of shoes do spies wear? What? Sneakers. Okay.
One more. How did the sock encourage the shoe?
S2 (01:21):
I have no idea.
S1 (01:22):
By cheering, you're totally super. Ah, those were good.
S2 (01:31):
I'll admit, they made me laugh a little. Yeah, and
though you had some funny jokes about clothing, let me
tell you, the first ever clothing was not funny at all.
S1 (01:42):
You're right. The first clothes are found in Genesis three,
and they were made to cover the sins of Adam
and Eve.
S2 (01:49):
Yes. Not that any clothing can truly take care of
the problem of sin, but when Adam and Eve disobeyed
God by eating from the tree of knowledge of good
and evil, They discovered they weren't wearing anything.
S1 (02:01):
And sin and shame entered the world. So to try
to fix their problem, they sewed leaves together.
S2 (02:06):
But even in his punishment, God provided a better covering
for them out of animal skin.
S1 (02:12):
And that is the start of clothing.
S2 (02:14):
And God offers an even better covering for us now.
S1 (02:18):
Better how? You mean like my cool new elite luxury
shoes that I've been sporting this month?
S2 (02:25):
No, I mean Jesus, get your foot off of the table, please.
S1 (02:30):
Sorry.
S2 (02:31):
As I was saying, God offers us Jesus as a
permanent covering over our sins.
S1 (02:38):
That's right. His perfect life is offered to us through
faith to cover our sin and shame. Something way better
than any piece of clothing.
S2 (02:47):
See? Absolutely.
S1 (02:48):
But after Adam and Eve, clothes were just part of
the world, right?
S2 (02:52):
Right. Of course, styles have changed, and different parts of
the world wear different things, but clothes are a part
of every culture now. Dope. In fact, I want to
fast forward a couple thousand years from the first ever clothes,
about 1583 BC.
S1 (03:08):
Ooh, a little time travel, I think so.
S2 (03:12):
Colin, can you help us out?
S3 (03:13):
Yep. Buckle up, you two. Where did you say we
were going again, 1583 BC?
UU (03:21):
You got it. Where? To the land of Canaan.
S1 (03:26):
And why are we going there?
S2 (03:27):
We're going to see a fashion show.
S1 (03:33):
A fashion show?
S2 (03:34):
Well, don't worry, you'll enjoy it.
S1 (03:37):
Yeah, I'm not so sure about that.
S3 (03:38):
Hold on. Here we go.
UU (03:43):
Ha! Ha ha!
S3 (03:52):
Here we are.
S2 (03:53):
Thanks, Colin. Come on. We don't want to miss it.
S4 (03:58):
Gentlemen, thank you for joining us for today's fashion show
featuring the sons of Jacob Harlow.
S1 (04:04):
What are you doing here, Arlo?
S4 (04:06):
What do you mean? I'm, uh. Bartholomew. First up, we
have the oldest, Reuben. It looks like he's sporting a
plain robe with an animal covering. Simple, but does the job.
Next we have Simeon. It looks like we have another
plain robe. It appears to be a little darker brown
(04:26):
than Reuben's. Not sure if that's the design or because
it's dirtier and smellier. Now we see Levi coming down
the runway, and it looks like he's wearing the same
thing his brothers were wearing.
S1 (04:42):
Lena, are all the places in time we could have traveled.
You brought me here for this.
S2 (04:48):
I'll admit it isn't very exciting yet. You just wait.
S4 (04:52):
And that was Zebulon wearing the same thing his nine
older brothers War. Next we have Joseph, who is. Wait, wait.
What is this? I can't believe it. Joseph is strutting
this way and it looks like he's wearing something we
haven't seen here today. It is a robe, one that
has long sleeves and colors other than brown. Whoa! That
(05:12):
is not a cheap piece of clothing. Some would call
this very ornate. So fancy, so different. So so so. Joseph. Wow.
You could tell Jacob is really proud of his son, Joseph.
He is on his feet. The first time we've seen
that reaction from him today.
S5 (05:28):
That's my boy.
S4 (05:32):
What a way to end our show with a true
showstopper that Joseph sure knows how to wow a crowd.
S1 (05:38):
Wow, that robe was stellar.
S2 (05:42):
It was really nice. Especially after all those brown and
tan ones.
S1 (05:46):
But Joseph better watch his back. Those brothers of his.
Don't look too happy that he got that reaction. Yeah.
S2 (05:53):
Shall we head back to the time machine in the studio?
S1 (05:55):
For sure. I'm ready to get out of here.
UU (06:05):
And. Start every.
S6 (06:09):
Day. Get all dressed up right. To push back the
dark with the light. With the belt of truth. It's
the armor of God.
UU (06:21):
Start every day.
S6 (06:23):
Get all dressed up right. To push back the dark
with the light. With the belt of truth. And the
breastplate of righteousness.
UU (06:33):
It's the armor of God. Start every.
S6 (06:39):
Day. Get all dressed up right. To push back the
dark with the light. With the belt of truth. And
the breastplate of righteousness. And the shoes of peace. It's
the armor of God.
UU (06:52):
Got. To start every.
S6 (06:57):
Day. Get all dressed up right. To push back the dark.
With the light. With the belt of truth. And the
breastplate of righteousness. And the shoes of peace. And the
shield of faith.
UU (07:10):
It's the armor of God. Start every day.
S6 (07:16):
Get all dressed up right. To push back the dark.
With the light. With the belt of truth and the
breastplate of righteousness. And the shoes of peace, and the
shield of faith, and the helmet of salvation.
UU (07:31):
It's the armor of God. Start every day.
S6 (07:37):
Get all dressed up right. To push back the dark
with the light. With the belt of truth. And the
breastplate of righteousness. And the shoes of peace, and the
shield of faith, and the helmet of Heard. And the
sword of the spirit. It's the armor of God.
S1 (07:56):
Ah, back to modern day.
S2 (07:59):
Come on. It wasn't that bad.
S1 (08:01):
It at least got better at the end. Yeah.
S2 (08:03):
Wasn't Joseph's robe so nice?
S1 (08:05):
Yeah. Especially compared to all of his other brothers clothing.
S2 (08:09):
Yeah, and Joseph's robe is one of the reasons that
jealousy started in his brothers hearts.
S1 (08:14):
That's right. Jacob obviously favored Joseph. And Joseph didn't seem
very shy with the ways he was favored either.
S2 (08:21):
And the jealousy turned to hate, and his brothers ended
up selling him to slavery.
S1 (08:26):
The story of Joseph is bonkers.
S2 (08:29):
It is rather surprising, if that's what you mean.
S1 (08:32):
Well, yeah. So many bad things seem to happen to Joseph.
And some good things too, of course, but it was
all used by God to put him where he was
supposed to be when he was supposed to be there.
S2 (08:42):
That's right. And the robe was part of God's plan.
S1 (08:45):
You see, bonkers. Mind blown.
S2 (08:52):
Okay, I think it's time for a little game.
S1 (08:55):
I'd say you're absolutely correct, aumento.
S2 (09:00):
Okay. Today's game is called What to Wear. Here's how
you play. We'll take turns reading off items of what
a person could wear for a specific job. After each item,
the other person will have a chance to guess the
job that matches the items of clothing. Makes sense.
S1 (09:14):
I think so.
S2 (09:15):
Okay, I'll go first. And to our listeners, see if
you can guess correctly too. All right. The first item
is a vest.
S1 (09:23):
A vest, huh? Uh, I'm guessing some sort of businessman.
S2 (09:29):
Uh, no. Okay, here's the next clue. A belt?
S1 (09:33):
A belt?
S2 (09:34):
Yeah, but not a normal belt. What? You'll get it
with this one. A hard.
S1 (09:39):
Hat. Oh, a a construction worker. That is.
S2 (09:44):
Correct. I was talking about a tool belt. See? Okay.
S1 (09:47):
Good job. Bingo, Bingo. Okay, now I'll give the clues.
S2 (09:51):
You ready? I was born ready.
S1 (09:53):
Slippers.
S2 (09:55):
Slippers for a job.
S1 (09:57):
Aha!
S2 (09:58):
I have no idea. Maybe someone who works from home. No. No, no. Here.
S1 (10:04):
How about this one? A tutu? Oh a ballerina. That
is correct.
S3 (10:11):
Good job. Thanks. Wait wait wait wait, I have one.
S2 (10:15):
Oh, okay. Go ahead.
S3 (10:16):
Clue number one. A suit.
S7 (10:20):
A lawyer?
S3 (10:21):
No, not even close. Clue number two. A helmet.
S7 (10:27):
A suit and.
S1 (10:28):
A helmet. That doesn't even go together.
S3 (10:32):
This is a pretty tricky one. Clue number three. Gloves.
S1 (10:37):
Yeah, I'm really confuzzled. Suit. Helmet. Gloves.
S2 (10:42):
What is it, Colin?
S3 (10:44):
It's an astronaut.
S2 (10:45):
Oh. Okay.
S1 (10:47):
Hey, Colin.
S3 (10:48):
Thank you. Thank you.
S1 (10:50):
That game was harder than I thought it would be.
S2 (10:52):
Right. When you hear just part of what someone's wearing
for a job, you can't quite picture it. For example,
before you said Tutu, I was picturing bunny slippers.
S1 (11:03):
You know, similar to how certain jobs require certain pieces
of clothing, living a life for Jesus requires us to
wear specific things as well.
S2 (11:11):
That's right. Not so much actual clothes, but the armor
of God.
S1 (11:15):
Exactly. Ephesians six commands us to be strong in the
strength of God. It shows us that God has given
those that are his children a covering from head to
toe to help them stand firm in their faith.
S2 (11:28):
God provides all that we need to love and obey
Him in Jesus. Salvation is like a helmet. Truth like
a belt. And readiness to share the good word like shoes.
S1 (11:37):
The Word of God is like a sword and his
righteousness like a breastplate.
S2 (11:41):
And our faith is like a shield.
S1 (11:43):
A full armor to protect us from sin, Satan and
the temptations of the world.
S2 (11:48):
It's a pretty cool picture of God providing what we need,
isn't it?
S1 (11:52):
And I personally have been thinking about what it means
to be strong in God instead of my own strength.
It's hard to do sometimes, but I'm learning. God's strength
never lets me down in my own. Usually does.
S2 (12:04):
Thank you for sharing that, Max.
S7 (12:06):
Of course.
S2 (12:07):
Well, that's our time for today.
S1 (12:10):
I think we've done it in episode on clothes. But
before we button it up. Really? I have one more joke.
S2 (12:18):
All right, go ahead.
S1 (12:19):
Why do golfers always pack an extra pair of pants?
I don't know why. In case he gets a hole
in one.
S2 (12:28):
Okay, now we're officially done.
S1 (12:31):
Thanks for joining us on the honey cast.
S2 (12:33):
Adios. Hasta luego.
S1 (12:35):
See you all next time.
S3 (12:36):
Honey. Cast. Crew. Signing off. Honeycomb Chronicles.
