S1 (00:01):
Will this week ever end?

S2 (00:04):
I know right? It feels like it's taking forever.

S3 (00:08):
Yeah, we're so close to Christmas break, but each day
feels like it's going in slow motion.

S4 (00:14):
At least tomorrow is just a fun day.

S3 (00:17):
Are you guys having a Christmas party in your class? Yep.

S4 (00:20):
I think one of the moms is bringing in puppy chow.

S3 (00:23):
Sweet deal. Literally.

S2 (00:26):
Yeah, and Mrs. Rodriguez lent me and Lucy make decorations.
She came over this past Saturday, and we cut out
a bunch of snowflakes. So tomorrow morning, we're coming in
early to hang them all over the classroom.

S3 (00:37):
Neato.

S4 (00:38):
Neato. Torpedo.

S3 (00:40):
Okay, Colin, I see you catching on.

S4 (00:43):
I learned from the best.

S2 (00:45):
Not you too, Colin.

UU (00:51):
Sweeter than honey. Much better than gold. Searching the word.
See how the Story unfolds in the Honeycomb Club. We
have fun with Max, Colin and Lena in the honey cast.

(01:13):
We will share a laugh. The Honeycomb Chronicles, honeycomb, The
Honeycomb Club, The Honeycomb Chronicles.

S2 (01:38):
Okay, we have a lot to figure out for this
episode of the honey cast.

S4 (01:42):
Yeah, we need to record it early so that it
can be released on Christmas Eve like we planned.

S2 (01:48):
So that only really leaves us with today and tomorrow
to work together after school, right?

S3 (01:54):
Yeah. I mean, my family leaves for Florida this weekend.
We're going to my grandma's this year for Christmas, and.

S2 (01:59):
We won't have the studio after tomorrow.

S4 (02:02):
So we have a lot of work to do.

S2 (02:05):
Yes. Have you both done what Mr. Mitchell talked to
you about?

S4 (02:08):
I have, Lena. You know I have. You ask me
every day. No, I don't. Well, you ask me a bunch.
I just want to make sure.

S2 (02:19):
Are we allowed to talk about what our assignments are?

S3 (02:22):
I think we have to. Right. I mean, how else
are we supposed to write a podcast?

S4 (02:26):
That's what I've been saying.

S2 (02:28):
Well, I just want to make sure that we're doing
what he wants. You guys know I don't like breaking
the rules.

S4 (02:33):
I don't think we're breaking any rules, Lena.

S2 (02:36):
Well, I'd still feel better if we made sure he
didn't tell any of us what he told the others.
So there must have been a reason for that, right?

S3 (02:43):
Okay, let's just go to his office right when we
get to the club this afternoon.

S4 (02:47):
Sounds perfect. What's something you'd say here, Max? Maybe. Boom
Shaka laka.

S3 (02:55):
Boom Shaka laka all day.

S2 (02:57):
I don't know how much more of this I can take.

S4 (02:59):
See you after school, Max.

S3 (03:01):
Shine on companions. Break is coming.

S4 (03:07):
Okay. When Mr. Mitchell tells us we can talk about
what he told us to do.

S2 (03:12):
If he tells us we can talk about it, fine.

S4 (03:15):
If we really have to make a plan because we
have to finish recording today.

S3 (03:20):
Well, let's get to asking our guy. Guys, wait.

S4 (03:25):
Is that coming from Mr. Mitchell's office?

S3 (03:28):
I think so.

S2 (03:29):
I don't want to interrupt him. Maybe he's writing the
next song for the honey cast.

S4 (03:33):
Well, we're gonna have to interrupt him to get the
answer to our question.

S2 (03:37):
Well, maybe there's going to be a natural pause.

S5 (03:41):
Point to say.

S3 (03:43):
You really got some.

UU (03:44):
Pipes. For my fears and sins. Release us. Let us
find our resting.

S6 (04:00):
Oh, Colin.

S4 (04:01):
Sorry.

S6 (04:02):
My water bottle.

S7 (04:03):
Oh, hey there, honey. Cast. Crew.

S3 (04:06):
Maestro. Mitch, you got some mad skills, brother. We heard
you tickling those strings.

S7 (04:13):
Well, thank you, Max.

S2 (04:14):
Max is right. If what he said is a compliment.

S4 (04:19):
What song was that?

S7 (04:20):
It's called come thou long expected. Jesus.

S4 (04:24):
Ooh, thou sounds fancy.

S7 (04:28):
Ah, indeed. It was penned some 280 years hence. Thus
they did employ a somewhat different tongue than we do now.
Yet it remaineth one of my most cherished melodies, particularly
in this season.

S8 (04:44):
Ah!

S4 (04:45):
Tis excellent.

S3 (04:47):
Hear, hear!

S2 (04:49):
What is happening? I can't believe I'm the one saying this,
but can you guys please speak plain English?

S4 (04:55):
But, mein companion, this is English.

S2 (04:59):
Yeah, maybe like an old version of English.

S7 (05:03):
Precisely.

S3 (05:05):
You guys are weird. Why? Thank you.

S7 (05:09):
I'm sorry. Lena. I was just meaning to say that
I really like this song. Even though it's old. Especially
around Christmas time.

S2 (05:16):
Really? Why? It doesn't feel super Christmassy.

S7 (05:20):
Feel Christmassy?

S2 (05:21):
Yeah, like jingle bells, you know. Fun and upbeat.

S7 (05:25):
Well, it's no dashing through the snow, that's for sure.
But it really helps me put into words what my
heart feels during this season.

S3 (05:34):
And what's that? Mitchie.

S7 (05:35):
A longing for Jesus to come. For things to be
as they were created to be. And to be fully
free from our sins and find complete rest in Jesus.

S2 (05:47):
Mr. Mitchell, are you okay?

S7 (05:50):
Oh, yeah. I'm more than okay. I'm just longing for
Jesus to come back like he promised. It's like those
real characters from the Christmas story that I told you
to look into. They each had a longing for the
promised rescuer, the Messiah, to come. And he did. And
now we wait for him to return. Some days it

(06:12):
just feels like the waiting is harder because of the
things I'm going through.

S3 (06:16):
Like what? You know.

S6 (06:18):
What?

S7 (06:20):
No, no, no, it's all right. I don't mind sharing
a bit. Why don't you guys go ahead and sit down? Well,
as you all know, I'm not married. But it is
something that I've really longed for. To have a wife,
have someone to partner with me in ministry and to

(06:41):
have kids of our own. A house full of them
running around, making messes, playing tag in the yard.

S2 (06:47):
That sounds really nice.

S7 (06:49):
It's something that I've asked God for quite a bit.
And actually, about five years ago, I was engaged.

S2 (06:56):
You were?

S3 (06:57):
I didn't know that.

S7 (06:59):
Yes. To a wonderful woman named Melissa.

S3 (07:04):
Melissa Mitchell. You know, that has a nice ring to it.

S7 (07:08):
It sure does. Melissa was really special. She loved God
with all her heart and she loved kids in the
biggest way I've ever seen. She helped get the Honeycomb
Club started with a group of us.

S2 (07:21):
Wait, but what happened?

S7 (07:23):
Well, Melissa got really sick. Oh, no. She had a
really rare disease that took her health crazy fast. And
she passed away just three months before our wedding.

S2 (07:37):
Mr. Mitchell, I'm so sorry.

S3 (07:40):
Yeah. Me too.

S7 (07:42):
I am too. It's been one of the hardest things
that I've ever had to walk through. Wow.

S4 (07:50):
You've had a hard life.

S7 (07:53):
It definitely has not always been easy.

S4 (07:56):
I mean, you lost Melissa, and you lost your dad
when you were young.

S3 (08:00):
What? You lost who?

S7 (08:02):
That can be a story for another time.

S4 (08:05):
Anyway, you're always so happy.

S7 (08:08):
How? I wouldn't say that. I'm always happy. But I
have found peace from God. I've worked through a lot
of my feelings with him, and I still am asking
God big questions and talking to him about all the
reasons why. It's probably why I really like stories like
Job and Joseph. I can understand and relate to parts

(08:32):
of their story.

S2 (08:34):
You really can.

S7 (08:35):
And just like their stories show, God is God and
He is good even through the bad stuff that we
go through.

S3 (08:43):
Man, I want to be like you when I grow up.

S7 (08:48):
Thanks, Max.

S3 (08:49):
No. I'm serious.

S2 (08:50):
So that song. That's why you want Jesus to come back.

S7 (08:55):
Pain here on earth does make me hope for heaven more. Yes,
I really miss Melissa. And I still really want a family.
But I want to trust God's plan. And I know
that when and if he gives me one, he will
be glorified through it. That's really amazing. Actually, it's why
my favorite characters in the Christmas story are who they are.

S2 (09:18):
And that would be.

S7 (09:20):
Elizabeth and Zechariah.

S2 (09:22):
Really, I don't usually think of them as part of
the Christmas story.

S3 (09:26):
Yeah. Me neither.

S4 (09:27):
Uh, who are they?

S2 (09:29):
Elizabeth was Mary's cousin.

S4 (09:31):
Okay.

S7 (09:33):
Lina's right. Mary, the mother of Jesus, had a cousin
named Elizabeth.

S6 (09:38):
Oh. Got it.

S7 (09:40):
She was also pregnant with the baby at the same
time as Mary. And Elizabeth's baby was the one God
chose to prepare the way for Jesus.

S3 (09:50):
So why do you like them?

S7 (09:52):
Well, when we first hear about Elizabeth, she is already
really old and she has never had a baby or
a family. But I can't help but read that she
longed for one for a long time, and then when
it was God's perfect time, she became pregnant. I have

(10:12):
been comforted by this story a lot. A longing that
was fulfilled in God's timing for his plan to happen
as he sees it.

S2 (10:22):
I've never really paid much attention to their story before.

S7 (10:25):
I hadn't either, not until the past few years.

S4 (10:29):
Hey, I have an idea. What? Do you want to
share their story on the honey cast this month, Mr. Mitchell?

S2 (10:36):
Oh, yes. That would be perfect.

S7 (10:39):
Huh? That's a great idea.

S3 (10:41):
Speaking of the honey cast, we did have a few questions.

S2 (10:45):
Yeah, that's why we came to see you in the
first place. But I'm glad you shared with us.

S3 (10:50):
Thank you. Me too.

S7 (10:52):
Thanks, guys. Now, what questions do you have about the
honey cast?

S2 (10:57):
Well, first of all, can we know what you asked
each of us to do?

S7 (11:01):
Of course, you absolutely can. So, Lena, I had asked
you to.

S2 (11:12):
God always keeps his promises. And Jesus is the greatest gift.

S4 (11:16):
And that he came for all the near and far.

S9 (11:21):
Merry Christmas.

S4 (11:24):
And that's a wrap.

S2 (11:26):
Great job guys, and thank you so much, Mr. Mitchell.

S7 (11:30):
Yeah, absolutely. I gotta run, but I'll see you guys
next year.

S6 (11:37):
Mhm.

S7 (11:38):
No. Okay. Still not funny I guess. All right I
love you all. I'll see you guys.

S4 (11:44):
Bye.

S3 (11:46):
That was really fun.

S4 (11:48):
Yeah I like this one too.

S2 (11:50):
It felt so, so Christmassy.

S4 (11:52):
I'll edit it in the next couple days at home
to make sure that it will be ready for Christmas Eve.

S3 (11:57):
You know, Colin, you're the biscuit with the best bread.

S4 (12:01):
Thanks, Max.

S2 (12:03):
Okay, that doesn't even make sense. Who would put a
bread on biscuit or a biscuit on bread or whatever
you said? That does not make sense. That's too many carbs.

S4 (12:12):
I know what he means.

S2 (12:13):
Whatever. Hey, Colin. I wanted to invite you, your mom
and your brother to our church on Christmas Eve.

S4 (12:24):
Oh. Christmas eve.

S2 (12:25):
Yeah. We have a really beautiful service that my Tio
Carlos helps lead every year.

S4 (12:30):
Oh, that's cool, because mom and I were actually talking
about your Uncle Carlos after Thanksgiving and how we might
want to visit his church. This sounds perfect.

S2 (12:40):
I think my mom's gonna call your mom, but I
hope you guys can come.

S4 (12:43):
Yeah, I'll ask my mom. We usually don't do anything
much that night anyways. Great.

S2 (12:48):
Max, I hope you have a fun time in Florida.

S3 (12:51):
Oh, I plan to. I'm leaving plain old normal Max behind.
Starting tomorrow vacation. Max is going to be living it
up in a warm, sunny, sandy Paradise.

S4 (13:02):
Vacation, Max?

S3 (13:03):
Oh, yeah. Maybe you guys will get to meet him
one day. But for now, I gotta run. My mom's
waiting by the front doors. Merry Christmas, guys.

S6 (13:11):
Merry Christmas.

UU (13:14):
