Speaker 1 (00:00):
We are on assignment in Washington, DC, our nation's capital,
as an ICE facility is targeted in a shooting. There
were anti ICE messages found at the scene. We have
the Deputy Director of ICE joining us in moments to
share updates and information. We'll also break down President Zelenski's
latest plea for your tax dollars at the UN General
Assembly and host a panel to give us the latest
(00:20):
on Zoron Mandami's campaign to take over Gotham and our
robots taking over Major League Baseball. Former Atlanta Braves pitcher
John Rocker is with us to break down the future
of America's pastime.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
It's all next to the MATC Gates Show. Let's do
this shaking up Washington, d C. We're breaking the fever.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
You haven't watch his guy on television.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
It's like a machine.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
He's great, Matt Gaates.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Violence has again visited America in the form of a
rooftop shooter.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Two people are dead and one is in serious.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Condition after a sniper filedmultiple rounds at an ICE facility
in Dallas, Texas this morning. The shooter, identified as twenty
nine year old's Joshua John, is dead from a self
inflicted gunshot wound. According to authorities, all three victims were
ICE detainees. No ICE agents or law enforcement officers were
harmed in the shooting. According to FBI Director Cash Bettel,
(01:19):
bullet casings recovered the scene had the phrase anti ice
written on them in blue ink.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
Early evidence that we've seen from rounds that were found
near the suspected shooter contain messages that are anti ice
in nature. It is, unfortunately, just the most recent example
we've seen of targeted violets to include here in North Texas,
we're back on July fourth, we saw a coordinate attack
(01:45):
carried out against an immigration detendent center in Albado, Texas.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Vice President j D Vance addressed the shooting today, saying
the left dangerous rhetoric is to blame for encouraging the
plague of is directed at immigration officers.
Speaker 6 (02:02):
We know this person was politically motivated. They were politically
motivated to go after law enforcement. They were politically motivated
to go after people who are enforcing our border. It
is time to stop the rhetorical assault on law enforcement
because here's what happens when Democrats like Gavin Newsom did
say that these people are part of an authoritarian government.
(02:26):
When the left wing media lies about what they're doing,
when they lie about who they're arresting, when they lie
about the actual job of law enforcement, what they're doing
is encouraging crazy people.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
To go and commit violence.
Speaker 6 (02:38):
You don't have to agree with my immigration policies, you
don't have to agree with Donald Trump's immigration policies. But
if your political rhetoric encourages violence against our law enforcement,
you can go straight.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
To he and you have no place in the.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
Political conversation of the United States of America.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
The Vice President is fi hired up.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Also, DHS Secretary Christi Nome echoed that warning posting on
x these are in his killings must service a wake
up call to the far left that their rhetoric about
ice has consequences. Comparing Ice day in, day out to
the Nazi Gestapo, the secret police and slave patrols has consequences,
of course it does.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
This sort of thing is dangerous.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Demonizing rhetoric coming from numerous places in the Democratic Party
that Secretary Nome and VP Vans are referring to is
certainly concerning to all of us.
Speaker 7 (03:30):
The masked men jumping out of unmarked cars, people disappearing
no due process, no oversight, zero accountability happening in the
United States of America today. People ask, well, is authoritarianism?
You're being hyperbolic. We're being hyperbolic. If you're a black
and brown community.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
It's here in this country.
Speaker 7 (03:48):
These are authoritarian actions by an authoritarian government.
Speaker 8 (03:52):
Every single ICE agent who's engaged in this aggressive overreach,
no matter what it takes.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
No matter how long it takes, will of course us
be identified.
Speaker 9 (04:01):
This is not the nineteen thirty.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Secret police who are masked, who are intimidating, who are
scaring people, these Gestapo tactics.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Donald Trump's modern.
Speaker 9 (04:11):
Day gascapo Gestapo is scooping folks up off the streets.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
When you compare the old films of the Gestapo grabbing
grabbing people off the streets of Poland, it.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Does look like a Gestapo operation.
Speaker 10 (04:24):
You posted on social media that quote ICE is acting
like a terrorist force. ICE agents they are coming and
kidnapping and disappearing people on the streets of the United States.
Speaker 11 (04:37):
But this terror campaign of having masked people rolling up
in vans, but we also have to talk about the
agents themselves that are carrying this out. If you have
any decency, quit now. Because just doing what you were
told has been the justification for some of the worst
wars and crimes against humanity.
Speaker 10 (04:57):
Mask agents of the state in an marked vehicles are
terrorizing communities. They are disappearing.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
People do not look like America.
Speaker 12 (05:06):
We are going to require them.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
To show their faces.
Speaker 12 (05:10):
If you're not doing anything wrong, you shouldn't have anything
behind with us.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Now in studio is the Deputy Director for Immigration and
Customs Enforcement, Madison Sheehan. So, Madison, a challenging day for sure.
For ICE, what can you tell us about this shooting
and how ICE is reacting?
Speaker 10 (05:26):
Absolutely so. It's an ongoing investigation right now. It's being
led by the FBI as well as the Dallas Police Department.
What we know right now is that a shooter was
shooting off of a nearby roof onto our ICE facility.
He put bullets throughout the entire facility on the exterior
of the building, kind of wrecking havoc across the front
(05:48):
of our building. Most of the attention so far and
the investigation has been focused on the Sally Poor area,
which is where we had a van place that was
holding detainees. One of those detainees was ultimately killed because
of this, Our officers are all safe. Everyone has made
at home to their families, But we are praying for
the victims in this case as well as the officers
(06:09):
who have responded. We have a fantastic partnership with Dallas
Police Department as well as our federal partners, and we're
very grateful for the response that we've.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Had so far.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
What has this done to the operations of this critically
important facility? When do you expect people will be coming
back and performing their normal function.
Speaker 10 (06:26):
Absolutely, we're going to get the facility back online as
quickly as possible. So this is not only the main
ice office in Dallas for our field office director, but
it is also the main office that we use to
process detainees. So when we make an arrest in the morning,
when we're targeting the worst of the worst, we then
process them at this facility and then move them to
one of our greater detention facilities in the Dallas area
(06:48):
or nationwide, depending on the circumstances of the case. And
I'll just remind everybody that our officers are out going
and enforcing immigration law as it's written. We're not making
anything up. We're not picking when and losers. We are
enforcing the law as it's written, and people still choose
to attack our officers, wreck havoc on our officers, and
have this violent rhetoric being called the Gestapo Nazis, and
(07:13):
the list doesn't end. And that's why we get in
these situations where our officers and ultimate detainees have been
put in harm's way.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Do you think that people who use that type of
rhetoric just have a complete disregard for the well being
of the ice officers who are performing their mission.
Speaker 10 (07:28):
Absolutely, and I think they have complete disregard for law
enforcement officers in general. I think every day we should
go out and be thanking law enforcement officers for their work,
thanking the men and women for their work. We work
every day to get murders, rapists, gang members, and the
list goes on and on removed from our streets, and
people still choose to take the sides of criminal, illegal
(07:50):
aliens and in this case ultimately caused harm for those aliens.
And this is a time for in America to come together,
whether you're on the left or the right, and really
have an honest conversation about how we're treating our law
enforcement officers and make sure that we're putting our law
enforcement officers and their families first in.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
This situation, and that cooperation among law enforcement does look
different to us in different states. I'm from Florida, where
it seems every day there's a new cooperation agreement between
the federal government and state government to perform this mission together.
But our headquarters is in California, where we see something
very different, where the governor and the mayors are really
(08:30):
castigating the people doing this. So help my viewers understand,
like practically for those ice officers who are doing the mission,
how it can be really different even within our country,
depending on the state where the operation is taking place.
Speaker 10 (08:43):
Absolutely so in a state like Florida, we have many
two eight seven G agreements. That's an agreement that gives
law enforcement officers at the state and local level specific
immigration authorities to go out and effectuate at rest. And
so we walk beside law enforcement as they go and
target illegal criminal aliens, the worst of the worst. We'll
go out and target those aliens in a partnership. And
(09:04):
other states like California, they harbor these criminal illegal aliens
and they hold them in their streets and their sanctuary cities,
not allowing ICE to go after these criminal illegal aliens
and oftentimes not honoring ICE attainers, which is our opportunity
that when a local officer makes an arrest, we then
lodge an attainer on a criminal alien, so that way
(09:24):
when they are released on bond or just released in general,
we can go then effectuate around.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
They definitely should be doing that.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
That seems like a baseline, but then I would My
blood was boiling when I saw beyond just that recalcitrants.
When ICE was seeking backup when they would encounter a
challenging circumstance, they were often being left to their own
devices for extended periods of time from LAPD and from
others in California? Are you still experiencing that in some
(09:51):
places where there isn't backup provided? Now that we've seen
ICE officers getting shot at, it does ripen the question absolutely.
Speaker 10 (09:59):
And in places like Texas, we have historic response. We
have an incredible response, whether it's from Dallas PD or
Texas State Police. Same with Florida and you other big cities.
In smaller areas or even in those democratic run areas,
we often see less of a significant response. We are
grateful for the fact that LAPD did come to the
table after those protests sort of direct havoc on their cities,
(10:22):
understanding the need to put their community first.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
This does seem to be happening at such a bad
This is never a good time for this, But we
saw this campaign to get more people to sign up
for the ICE mission raging with success. Americans wanting to
be a part of this. Do you think I mean,
I know we don't know the motives of this particular assailant,
(10:47):
but do you think part of what undergirds all the
attacks on ICE is an effort to really discourage people
from joining as great team members.
Speaker 10 (10:58):
I absolutely think you're right with that. And what's interesting
about it is we've had historic success with this recruiting campaign.
We've recruited over one hundred and fifty thousand officers people
that want to come work for ICE because the average
American understands what's going on here. These are law enforcement
officers who choose to put their community first, put the
American people first. Understand that we need to have strong
(11:19):
borders and to protect the homeland, and that's what we're
doing every day, and they want to be a part
of that mission. Secretary Nome and President Trump have led
the way for us to recruit these officers. They are
putting these officers first and making sure that we have
the tools and equipment that we need to be able
to do our jobs every day.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
In the wake of this attack, do you expect ICE
will have to change some of their force protection, some
of their posture in some of these areas where you
don't really have a lot of control over the buildings
that are around where you're performing your mission.
Speaker 10 (11:50):
You know, we've seen over one thousand percent increase on
assaults against our officers and dangerous rhetoric against our officers,
whether it's docksing, what we're seeing online, or any of
the other issues that have become very apparent over the
last few weeks, especially after this attack that we've witnessed
this morning. This isn't the first attack at that facility.
We had bomb threats at this facility just weeks ago.
(12:12):
We had the Prairie Land attack only forty miles away
in a nearby city a few months ago. And so
these attacks continue, and this rhetoric needs to be taken
down from these politicians as well as other people on
the internet who continue to push this dangerous rhetoric against
the men and women advice.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
You have to be expecting there'll be more attacks then
based on what you just laid out, there doesn't seem
to be a real limiting principle on the willingness of
some people to resort to violence.
Speaker 10 (12:40):
And the Internet is a very deep dark place that
people tend to find this rhetoric, find people who are
thinking the same way they do, and then it just
heightens the efforts that they're doing. And we are already
at an increased threat posture because of that increased presence
of our officers at our facilities, to the point when
officers are out doing their jobs and effectuating around we
(13:00):
have to have additional officers on site to provide security
for those officers to allow them to do their job.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Well, we're so glad they're doing it.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
A final question for you, there was this one big,
beautiful bill act. I think the real thrust that got
people to vote for it was the belief that would
give ICE the tools to be able to do the
mission that President Trump and Secretary Nome have laid out.
Are you confident that you have what you need? I mean,
we didn't have people shooting at ICE facilities when this
(13:27):
bill was passed, is the current outlay of resources sufficient.
Speaker 10 (13:32):
I'm very confident in the resources that we got with
the one big, beautiful bill. President Trump truly led the
way to make sure that the men and win of
ICE have what they need, to make sure Customs and
Border Protection has what they need. And as we continue
to go down the path to spend this money and
spend it correctly and honor the taxpayers commitment that they've
made to us by providing us this money, we will
(13:53):
make sure it's spent correctly in removing, detaining, and ultimately
arresting these criminal aliens.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Madison, che and thank you so much for the great
work you do for our country. Please give our best
to everyone who's still doing this mission. I know it's
not easy in the days following something like this, but
we're so grateful that there are patriotic Americans willing to
do it, and we wish them safety on their important work.
Thank you, And coming up, we continue our coverage of

We return to our coverage of the United Nations General Assembly.
Ukraine's president Vladimir Zelenski took the stage to ask for
more support in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Take a listen.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
We are now living through the most destructive arms race
in human history. Because this time includes it includes artificial intelligence.
And every year that this war goes on, weapons become
even more dead limb, and only Russia deserves to be
blamed for this. If an Asian one spiece, it still
(17:19):
has to work on weapons. It's sick. But that's the reality.
Not international law, not carbureation, weapons decide who survives. We
are ready to make our modern weapons.
Speaker 13 (17:33):
Become your modern security, your modern weapons, and we have
decided to open up arms expos So we must use
everything we have together to force the aggressor to stop,
and only then we have a real chance that these
arms race will not end in Cadestroy for all of us.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Joining us now with reaction is host of anti war
news and news editor anti war dot Com Day to Camp. So, Dave,
are you getting peace vibes or war vibes from the
UN General Assembly after President Zelenskis speech.
Speaker 14 (18:09):
Well, essentially, what we're hearing from Zelenski is that he
needs more weapons and they just got to put a
few more sanctions on Russia to stop this war. And
that is his language that he uses. He says, you know,
you have to choose to stop Russia. But again, what
he's asking for is just more military aid and more sanctions,
which is essentially the Biden Blincoln Sullivan Newland doctrine that
(18:31):
did not get us anywhere during the last administration, and
it hasn't gotten us anywhere so far in this administration.
And we still see Russia continuing to make gains in
the East, and the diplomacy doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
You know, I think what Zelenski needs to do is
understand that he needs to make a sacrifice for his
(18:52):
own people. The polling shows that the majority of Ukrainians
want a peace deal. A peace deal means that they're
going to have to make in sessions. But unfortunately Zelenski,
you know, he in order to stay in power, he
needs this war to continue, and he has the EU
and NATO and all these European leaders in his ear
basically telling him, you know, keep going, We're going to
(19:14):
give you more weapons, there's going to be more sanctions.
So unfortunately, it looks like this war is just going
to drag on and people are going to continue dying
in eastern Ukraine.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Why do you think it is that the European leaders
are so willing to continue the battle here? They are
paying for more of it now than they were during
the Biden years proportionally, But it does seem to be
a constant drain without any rational explanation ast to like
which sanctions package or which weapons system would actually end
(19:47):
the fighting.
Speaker 14 (19:49):
It's a good question, and that's something I'm trying to
figure out because from my perspective, it really doesn't make
much sense here. I mean, you see the rhetoric here
from Mark Ruda had to NATO, all Off Schultz, the
German Chancellor. I mean, they're talking about preparing for direct
war with Russia. They're acting like Russia is going to
invade Eastern Europe in a few years when they're still
(20:09):
fighting in the Donbas, you know, three and a half
years into the invasion. I think a lot of them,
you know, when it comes to the elites in Europe,
they want to be a.
Speaker 11 (20:17):
Part of the club.
Speaker 14 (20:18):
They want to be, you know, elevated to these positions
of power, and to do that in Europe at this point,
this is what it requires to be anti Russia, anti diplomacy,
with few exceptions like Victor Orbon in Hungary. But they
seem to be really just ready for this to drag out.
And one of the big impediments to peace here is
(20:41):
that you know, they're engaging in these talks with Russia
Ukraine is that the US is and you have Starmer
and Macrone talking about you know, they're saying that they're
going to deploy troops to Ukraine as part of the
peace deal, which is just completely unacceptable to Russia. They're
never going to go for that, but they still keep
pushing this idea and unfortunately it looks like they have
influenced President Trump because he's expressed support for the idea
(21:03):
of the US backing European troop deployment to Ukraine, you know,
with the US planes flying overhead. So all these things
are just just not lining up in a good way.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
President Trump is certainly weary of this escalating and becoming
world War three. He made constant references to that on
the campaign trail. He was dragging Zelensky in the Oval
office when Zelensky was making sort of ridiculous and unattainable asks,
how do you see this having the big expansionist effect? Like,
(21:38):
what's the moment you look to and say that creates
great risk for escalation? Is it the US being involved
in policing some sort of no fly zone. Is it
Russia attempting some sort of dirty bomb in eastern Ukraine?
Speaker 2 (21:52):
What are you watching for?
Speaker 1 (21:53):
Is like what could potentially be the worst catalyst?
Speaker 14 (21:57):
Yeah, well, right now. You know, one big difference between
this and administration, and the last one that really eased
my fears of this turning into World War three is
the fact that the US and Russia are talking again.
The fact that you know, Trump could get on the
phone with Putin pretty much whenever he wants to. Because
the fact that Biden cut off that contact and at
the same time was warning that nuclear armour geddon, you know,
(22:18):
we're at the greater risk of nuclear armourgeddon than ever before,
was just very I mean, frankly, it seemed insane to me.
So the fact that Trump came in and re established
the communication, I thought was a very positive step. But
now we are starting to see some other risk of
escalation here with these reports of drones entering Poland and
then shooting down drones, and now this claim that Russian
(22:42):
jets violated Estonia's airspace. One thing when we talk about
this is important for people to understand that they're talking
about a small, uninhabited island in the Baltic Sea that
Russian jets supposedly, you know, flew too close to. It's
not like Russian jets flew over the territory of Estonia.
But this goes to show the risk of having Russia's
neighbors in NATO. And now you have Poland Shaikorski, the
(23:05):
Foreign minister, talking about that they wanted no fly zone
in western Ukraine, which would involve potentially shooting down Russian jets.
So if we move closer to that, I mean, that's
the big risk of escalation. And there's always a risk
of some kind of false flag here, I mean Ukrainian intelligence,
maybe even MI I six, you know, launching some drones
into Poland or something like that, because if you remember,
(23:27):
back in twenty twenty two, a Ukrainian air defense missile
landed in Poland and killed two people, and at the
time Ukrainian officials claimed that it was a Russian missile,
essentially as an effort to get direct NATO intervention. So
there's a kind of a precedent for this before. And
they got help because there was a US official who
told AP that it was a Russian missile and that
(23:48):
just went everywhere.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
It kind of exploded.
Speaker 14 (23:50):
It was kind of a scary day. So these are
the risks of the push towards well we think.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
We think about the Malaysia air Yeah, yeah, you're describing
an umber of circumstances in which accident can lead to escalation. Again,
we think about that Malaysian commercial airliner shot out of
the sky as a consequence of potentially some sort of
miss identification. I want to get to how this thing
ends because you talked about NATO getting up to Russia's doorstep.
(24:19):
To me, it looks like this has to end with
some function of a buffer for Russia, some preservation of
a Ukraine that gets to make more of their own
decisions and isn't tied to Moscow. Maybe with the Dambis functioning,
is that buffer. Maybe with an acknowledgment that CRIMEA is
indeed Russian. What are you looking at as key features
(24:40):
that would indicate both sides actually are working toward a
meaningful and durable piece of deal.
Speaker 14 (24:48):
Yeah, I think there was a chance there that the
potential deal that was on the table during the Alaska
summit had a chance to work, and essentially Russia back
down on demanding the old territorial control of Kurshan and Zaborosia,
the old blasts in the South that they control parts of.
They said they wanted Ukraine to withdraw from the territory
(25:09):
that it still controls in the Donbass, which is relatively small.
And under that deal, you know, the big questions are
about the security guarantees that they want. And this is
where it gets a little tricky because Russia, you know
that they're going to need some kind of pledge that
Ukraine will be neutral, but Ukraine is also going to want,
(25:30):
you know, something, They're not going to agree to limits
on their military so you know, but again some kind
of deal with that territorial arrangement and Russia giving some
kind of assurances to the US that you know, they're
not going to just you know, reinvade is something that
that would that would be needed. But right now again,
(25:50):
you know, you just see that they go immediately to, oh,
we're gonna the security guarantee is NATO troops in Ukraine,
which is you know, the main reason why Russia invaded
in the first place was Ukraine's alignment with NATO, so
you know they were never going to go for that,
so in Ukraine.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
Yeah, it doesn't seem like NATO bases in Ukraine is
the way this is gonna end, and a war of
attrition may benefit Russia and that certainly something in Europe
should be very concerned about. Dave DeCamp, we always appreciate
your expertise. He is the host of Antiwar News and
the news editor at anti.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
War dot Com.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Make sure to check it out and we'll be checking
in with you later, hopefully with a little more pathway
to peace.
Speaker 12 (26:30):
Thanks Matt.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
You've heard me talk about All Family Pharmacy before, but
let me ask if you've gone to the website and
looked around. This is not your typical pharmacy. These are
folks doing things the right way. They make it easy
to stock up your medicine cabin with essentials like antibiotics,
tamaflu i'vevermected hydroxychloroquin. You can even get a full year
supply for daily maintenance meds. They've also added some amazing
(26:52):
biohacking products like nad plus and methylene blue. This is
stuff you're not going to find at your local big
chain pharmacy.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
All Family Pharmacy he.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Works with doctors who write your prescriptions and get meds
shipped to your door in a couple of days.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
The most exciting mayoral race in America is happening in
New York City. We've got a socialist, a former governor,
a guy with a silly red hat, and the current
mayor with a sweet tooth. For Turkish delight, the New
York City mayoral race is a touchdowe in American politics,
especially if the heart of capitalism falls to socialism. The
Trump administration has made very clear what they will do
(30:21):
if New York City becomes a place that is asking
for bailout after bailout, if Mundamie's giveaway program dries up.
Speaker 12 (30:29):
I guarantee you and there are not a lot of
things in light that are sure that New York City
will be coming to the federal government for a bailout
if the mundami plans are.
Speaker 7 (30:40):
Implemented, and are you gonna get him that bailout?
Speaker 12 (30:43):
It will be the same thing that Gerald Ford said,
drop dead, drop dead.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Treasury Secretary Scott Besson isn't missing words.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
So let's get the latest on the race.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
Founder and host of Loud Majority Live Kevin Smith and
author of Super Moms Activated, Jack Win Toberof are my
panelists for this discussion. Kevin, you were the first one
to tell me this Mandani guy was gonna take off.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Give us your take on the state of the race.
Speaker 15 (31:11):
I mean to be honest with you, I'm terrified of
what this means for New York That polling suggests he's
up forty five or he's got forty five percent in
the polls, you know, with all the other candidates way
way behind, I think it's time for the other three Coolmo,
Sliwa and Adams to start to figure out that it's
(31:32):
it's going to be over unless two out of the
three of them drop out. And this has to happen
very very soon. Unfortunately, I don't see any of them
doing that, with Adams being down at eight percent in
a new Suffolk Pole sleeve of being at nine and
Cuomo running away with second place. But this has to
be a grouping of people to get together to stop Mandani,
(31:55):
not so much wins. I think Republicans are going to
have to come together and really take the medicine and
vote for someone they may not like, but someone that
they're gonna like, someone to stop someone they're gonna like
a lot less.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
If you would have told me that on my twenty
twenty five bingo card, would have been Kevin Smith telling
me on my news program that people need to vote
for a Cuomo, I would have never believed to you.
But Jackie, in a world in which we aren't seeing
a consolidation, do you think Republicans are going to hold
this against Curtis Sliwa for not doing more to give
(32:31):
a reasonable alternative to socialism in the Big Apple.
Speaker 16 (32:35):
So Sliwa has what nine percent? Even if he drops out,
I don't see how this is going to really make
a dent. Quite frankly, you know, Zorn has a twenty
point lead over the closest which is Cuomo at twenty
five percent. So I think there are some Republicans who
are perhaps looking forward to this as a way to
recapture New York City at some fictitious point down the road.
(32:59):
But these Islamists and Communists are not messing around. They
are not giving it back. They are fanning out throughout
the rest of the country DSA, which is what Zoran is.
He's a card carrying member of DSA is in every
single state, and he ran on the Working Families party line,
which has a ninety percent success rate out of all
(33:20):
the candidates who run on their line. So this is
coming to a city and state near you, Kevin.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
How do you think New Yorkers are preparing for the
eventuality of Zoron becoming their mayor?
Speaker 15 (33:37):
Well, I think they're renting you hole Vans. If I'm
being honest with you, I think they're going to become
an ad to Long Island.
Speaker 9 (33:41):
I think they're going to.
Speaker 15 (33:42):
Be headed upstate. Maybe the influx of Republicans the state
of Florida is going to get a lot of It's
going to get much bigger. Governor Donald's may win by
a lot more than Governor to say, the state last time.
But that's what's going to happen. That people with the
means in which to leave will leave. We've seen an
exodus of over half a million people over the last
(34:02):
four years, and that's only going to speed up because
the people who can leave will leave, and it will
only get worse. Now, there's some people out there that
are saying, perhaps New York City needs to be sacrificed.
Perhaps this needs to be the sacrificial lamb to show
the rest of the country what you don't want with
these DSA candidates. Believe me, as somebody who has to
(34:24):
drive through the city to get to the rest of
the country, it pains me to say it, but that
may be the case.
Speaker 16 (34:31):
Can I just say something that is.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
So hard to hear? Yeah, please go right ahead, Jackie.
Speaker 16 (34:36):
When has a general ever seated land and won the war?
You are never getting New York City back. The people
that leave are not going to come back to this
shell and have to excavate illegal aliens. It's only going
to get worse. Sorry to cut you off.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
No, I actually think it's an important point to probe
what are the ways so you actually see the city
changing from a quality of life standpoint if this guy
were to win.
Speaker 16 (35:06):
So we've heard from Besson. He said that we can
drop dead, and you know that's great. I'm all behind that.
As of now, around one hundred billion dollars flows annually
to New York City and nine point six billion dollars
is the operating budget for twenty twenty five. So I
(35:27):
have no idea if we're told to drop dead how
Zoe Rahan Mandani is going to give unfettered free housing
to everyone. He wants to expand Sanctuary City. He wants
to provide legal aid to illegal aliens. The educational complex
is already on the brink of talking about dropping dead.
(35:48):
Test scores have just come out. Our students at the
bottom half of the nation for reading and writing and math.
So things are not going to go well. There will
be white flight of the middle class billionaires or threatening
to pack it up and leave like Kat's and Matidis.
So I don't know where he's going to get the
money from to fund any of these, any of these, uh,
(36:09):
you know, whimsical projects that he has in mind.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
I've got to zoom out and look at what this
means politically for the the Empire state. More broadly, Kevin Smith,
if if we see a bigger than expected win from
Mondami and they really prove this DSA candidate model, do
you think that gooses AOC more to challenge Chuck Schumer
in a Democratic primary for the US Senate.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Oh?
Speaker 15 (36:36):
Absolutely, And you know what, I don't see any reason
why AOC shouldn't do it. I mean, she's you know,
she's the hottest thing in politics on the left right now.
Chuck Schumer is old. Everyone seems to hate him on
both the right and the left. I think she would
be foolish not to jump into the race from a
purely political perspective. Look, if Zorhan Mandani is able to
pull him over the fifty percent of the vote, I
think AOC. I think AOC walks away with the Democratic
(37:00):
nomination in twenty twenty six.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
Wow, wow, Jackie, are you as bullish on the AOC
takeover of the Democratic Party in your state.
Speaker 16 (37:11):
I just think we should all pause for a second
and wrap our heads around the fact that DSA has
a New York City mayoral candidate as the front runner
and a potential presidential nominee the Democratic Socialists of America.
I mean, the DSA is so tied into this trans movement.
As we look around and we see all of these
assassinations and everything, this is who is going to be
(37:34):
in charge. It is just mind blowing.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
Really, I'm and it's like a slow moving disaster that
we see coming. And I don't think it's going to
be the yuppies in New York that save us from it.
And it's a good warning, Jackie tober Off, that you
give the rest of us that it could be coming
to a city near us, and if it does, we
certainly hope Kevin Smith will come with it. We thank
(37:58):
you both for joining us on the lively discussion, and
we hope something will come to save your great city.
Speaker 16 (38:04):
Thank you for having us, of.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
Course, And coming up, we've got a key story regarding
a change in the rules to Major League Baseball in
the coming year. Robot umpires could be fielding appeals from pitchers,
batters and catchers. We've got World Series closer John Rocker
with us to break it all down next.
Speaker 3 (38:29):

Speaker 1 (40:42):
Major League Baseball, America's pastime. We've got news this evening
that MLB is moving one step closer to robot umpires.
MLB's Competition Committee approved using a challenge system where batters, catchers,
and pitchers can appeal the decision of the human umpire
to the robot umpire starting in twenty twenty six. Human
(41:04):
umpires make the initial call, but then the pitcher, catcher
or batter can challenge the balls and strikes by tapping
a helmet or a cap immediately after the call. Each
team gets two challenges per game, and if one challenge
is successful, it can be retained. Overturns are displayed via
the large digital graphics monitor on stadium video boards. So
(41:25):
how will the introduction of an appeal system to a
robot enforced strike.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
Zone impact the game?
Speaker 1 (41:32):
Joining us now is former Major League Baseball pitcher for
the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, and Tampa Bay
Devil Rays.
Speaker 2 (41:39):
John Rocker.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
So, John, when I saw major League Baseball adopting this
change in twenty twenty six to allow an appeal to
the robot umpire, I was dying to have you on.
Do you think it will help pitchers or batters more.
Speaker 17 (41:53):
Fifty to fifty? Yeah, I'm more of a of a
baseball peerist. I kind of wish they weren't doing it.
There'sun be a concert amendment outlaw the astroturple that does
they entered. But you know, as far as who's gonna
help more, I think it's gonna be fifty fifty. I
don't see it one side having more advantage than the other.
Speaker 1 (42:13):
I think about pitchers who would expand the strike zone
during a game. I think about your former colleagues Greg Maddox,
Tom Glavin. The way, like you know, maybe that strike
zone in the fifth or sixth inning they've worked a
different point in the game. Is Yeah, but does this
change in the rules like almost diminish that incredibly valuable
(42:38):
skill that pictures like that had that you threw.
Speaker 9 (42:40):
It and they don't.
Speaker 17 (42:41):
The umpires have not been not been given that much
off the plate in many years. And if you see
the games you watch now, there is that box. It's
that it's a hypothetical box around a strike zone and
you know the Empires will miss you know, five six,
seven a game, but for the most part they're calling
strikes that will show you know where the pitch was
in it's cam it's it's somewhere.
Speaker 9 (43:01):
In that box round the line.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
Uh.
Speaker 17 (43:03):
They're they're not giving you know, four to sixties off
the play anymore. They they haven't done that in at
least a decade.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
What about the art of framing a great pitch? Like
could you think back to some of the catchers you
played with and say, man, you know an Eddie Perez
or uh you know, uh, someone like that really knew
how to give you Man.
Speaker 2 (43:23):
Has that changed?
Speaker 9 (43:25):
Uh? Now that the art is still there.
Speaker 17 (43:27):
Obviously, the more veteran catchers are usually better out than
the yard catchers. But the way most of these guys
will will frame a pitch, they will put their mit.
Say we're pitching away. They'll put their mit where half
the mitt is in the zone, half a miss out
of zone. And so I said, it's as opposed to
moving the mint out to catch. They'll catch it in
the web or they'll catch it in the pull. So
they'll they'll try to do it every they can and
not move the mit. So mitt dutt move. I always
(43:49):
say that mit dut move is to strike. And so
that balls maybe three inches off the plate. Well, my, my, my, my,
My webbing on my mit is really is off the plate.
So I don't move it. That ball is about this
much out. Mit doesn't move, umpire cites mit not move.
Perfect frame job. That's what a good A good frame
you catch. We'll try to do.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
Baseball is such a game of deception, right, whether you're
trying to deceive the type of pitchure throwing or pickoff
move or or just what you described shaping the strike zone.
And this move by baseball to allow an appeal to
a robot umpire. To me, it raises this question about
how much we actually value human frailty, right like when
(44:30):
you when you could throw a big slider and maybe
it was you know, maybe it wasn't going to be
a strike, but it could look like a strike to
an umpire when a catcher could maybe get you a
little extra. That's preying on the human frailty of the umpire.
Speaker 2 (44:44):
And there was a.
Speaker 1 (44:45):
Part of that in the game. I actually liked, like,
do you think that this is one step or to
go with you?
Speaker 9 (44:51):
I'm a baseball peerist, I'm right there would.
Speaker 1 (44:55):
But I'm also the first guy in the do you
think this is a step to going to like a
full a full?
Speaker 2 (45:00):
Uh? You go ahead, John Uh.
Speaker 17 (45:03):
I'm also the guy that dug out the first one
and the dugout going rather blank? Was that? And what lad,
I'm the first guy to be streaming about where his
ball his strikes are. So you know, it kind of
goes both ways. Yes, you know, the robot umpire, you
know it will be beneficial, but it does take some
of the purity out of the game and some of
the jawing back and forth, and the umpire rips his
(45:23):
mask off but he's drawing back in the dug out
of the.
Speaker 9 (45:25):
Fans get a kick out of that. It will take
that purity out of the game.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
I think, I just wonder how far we are to
eliminating the umpires all together. With all of the video
we have, with all of the AI capability, all of
the angles, with today's technology, you could probably take the
umpires off the field and get pretty accurate results. Do
you think that baseball would one day entertain such a concept?
Speaker 17 (45:50):
If the umpires then have to a strong union, then
probably so. But if you saw Angel Hernandez, I'm sure
you know. Angel Hernandez is the most He was brutaled
back and play twenty plus years ago. The reason he
kept his job is the union would not allow him
to be fired. So if they got Angel her and
Anders's back to give him another core century of butcher
and calls, you're not get rid of the umpires.
Speaker 9 (46:11):
The unions were way too strong.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
You know what, You've really broken it down for us.
It's not all that dissimilar to the education system or
the public employment system. The unions will the unions will
protect the worst performing, worst behaving among the.
Speaker 2 (46:28):
Class of people. There.
Speaker 1 (46:30):
Since I have you, John, I've got to ask you,
know we're heading toward the playoffs. Do you have a
world series of prediction? Do you have a favorite who
you're rooting for?
Speaker 17 (46:39):
Yeah, I really don't. There's about four or five teams
that are really hot right now. And you know, I
say two things when it comes to playoff baseball. The
best washer doesn't win. The team with the most big
game players wins. So you got that one guy who's
been hitting two thirty all year, and all of a sudden,
a seven game set he gets three forty, and he's
got fifteen home runs all year. He had four home
runs and a seven games that the team with that
(47:02):
with with with the most players like that big game
players now, the best roster generally wins a short series
like that.
Speaker 9 (47:09):
Uh.
Speaker 17 (47:09):
And also the hot team. Don't mess with the hot
team in five to seven game series. Those hot team
will just blow right through you.
Speaker 1 (47:18):
Yeah, you played with a guy Mark Lemke who would
just go crazy when it was that October sometimes even
if he'd had yeah, a mediocre here. Do you see
a player like that right now that you're watching in
the postseason?
Speaker 17 (47:29):
You know, I don't, Honestly, I don't watch enough baseball
to even even pinpointed. To be honest with you, I
tell you one thing, Kyle Swards is about as hot
as they get right now. I mean he is doing
damage to everybody. Be watched out for the Phillies, you know.
I like the Brewers too. I did like Detroit, and
I don't know what the they They've got possessed by
the the losing demons here. The last couple of weeks
(47:51):
they have, they've called up a thinking about a twelve
and a half game lead the Dodgers. You know, Dave
Roberts hell of a manager. I played with Davey in Cleveland,
you know. And with with Otani doing what he can
do from both sides of the both sides of the field,
you can't count them out.
Speaker 9 (48:05):
It's going to be the hot team.
Speaker 17 (48:06):
And where you get production out of somebody expending your
production from, that's the team that's going to win it.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
It was always fun to watch you in the postseason.
It seemed you always had a little extra to bring
to those big games in October. John Rocker, former World
Series closer for the Atlanta Braves, played throughout Major League Baseball.
Thanks as always for coming on the program. And sharing
your expertise.
Speaker 9 (48:28):
Thank you, Massa, I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (48:32):
And coming up, Google is making a decision to add
back a number of people to their YouTube platform who
were taken off as a result of comments they had
about election integrity and COVID nineteen. We enjoy the fact
that there is good corporate citizenship moving things in the
right way, and we'll discuss Google's latest moves with Terry
Shilling after.

Speaker 1 (51:07):
Yesterday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan made a bombshell
announcement that Alphabet, the parent company of tech giants Google
and YouTube, will be reinstating those banned for political speech
related to election integrity, and those who are also banned.
In the wake of all of the COVID nineteen debates
and discussions online and a letter to the committee, Alphabet's
(51:29):
council wrote the company terminated channels for repeatedly violating community
guidelines on election integrity through twenty twenty three and COVID
nineteen through twenty twenty four, reflecting the company's commitment to
free expression, YouTube will provide an opportunity for all creators
to rejoin the platform. Alphabet also admitted for the first
(51:49):
time that they faced censorship pressure under the guise of
combating misinformation from the Biden administration. They even attacked Europe's
draconian censorship laws and ward about the chilling effect it
could have on their platform. Without question, this is one
of the biggest free speech wins we've had since Elon
Musk bought Twitter.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
Conservatives and truth tellers.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
Will be regaining access to more than two billion people
who use YouTube each month. Now, we give credit to Alphabet.
They're doing exactly what was asked. They're owning up to
pass mistakes, taking action to rectify it, and saying that
they will alert about future threats. The reality is that
the country could be less divide, it, better informed, and
more free if the rest of Silicon Valley followed their lead,
(52:34):
and we certainly hope they do. President of the American
Principles Project, Terry Shilling, joins us tonight to tell us
more so, Terry, when I saw this decision from Alphabet
to replatform people on YouTube, I was encouraged that it
was a sign of good corporate citizenship.
Speaker 8 (52:49):
What was your take, No, I think this is a
good sign. Frankly, I don't think it's enough. We do
need to get conservatives back on every single platform we
possibly can. Entries at State MAC you know that better
than anyone, But I think we need to go a
little bit further and get more out of them. Google
did so much to hurt the conservative movement. They deep
(53:09):
platform app even over our women's sports issue. They took
off Steve Bannon. You know they have to make up
for this. They can't just say we're sorry, we're going
to let you back on. You have to make up
for it if you want conservatives to trust you again.
Speaker 1 (53:25):
That trust is an important thing to establish. And the
thing that really struck me was the pressure from the
Biden White House. This is something we learned from the
first time through Jim Jordan the House Judiciary Committee, that
there really was a lot of effort to try to
get these bands put into place. Does that worry you
(53:45):
about the just condition of the First Amendment?
Speaker 8 (53:49):
Well, Matt, it does worry me, but it worries me
more about the entire country and the state of corporate America.
I do think, you know, frankly, we've seen what the
Google employees, how they think, how they operate. I think
it's something like ninety nine percent of all donations that
come from Google employees go to Democrats. There's not a
lot of open mindedness at Google. They're very closed minded.
(54:11):
So when they try to blame the Biden administration for
putting pressure on them.
Speaker 2 (54:15):
I think they were.
Speaker 8 (54:17):
I think they really didn't have to twist their arms
that hard to get them to go along with censoring concerns.
I think that the bigger problem, at the bigger threat
to the First Amendment is that you had one of
the world's biggest corporations in agreement with censoring concerns. I
don't think they were really that much against. I don't
think there was that much pressure that had to be
put on these guys to get them to censor us.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
The COVID nineteen censorship acts were particularly egregious because people
were being censored for telling the truth. If people just
shared accurate side effects of the vaccines, they were taken down.
When it is true information that is being removed at
the test of the government. You know, it makes you
(55:02):
wonder whether or not that's the time we'll ever revisit.
Do you think that that is now passed us with
this reckoning from Google, or do you think we have
to remain vigilant going forward.
Speaker 8 (55:13):
I think we have to remain vigilant going forward, Matt,
as always, you know, that's the price of liberty is
eternal vigilance, as Thomas Jefferson said. But the reality is
is that Google deep platform people. There are people online
that were good streamers, that had good shows that, as
you said, we're telling the truth, and they got deeplatformed,
which means they couldn't make their money anymore. A lot
(55:34):
of people make their livelihoods off of Google and off
of YouTube, and.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
They took that away.
Speaker 8 (55:39):
So they've got to make some type of reparation here
to get these guys back up to speed. But until then,
I think that there should be more investigations and more
pressure put on Google to make America right, and so
that they there has to be some consequences, consequences of this, Matt,
because if there aren't, they're going to continue to do
this in the future if we let them get away
(56:00):
with it.
Speaker 1 (56:02):
Yeah, Our sincere hope is that this is a durable move,
that they saw the era of their ways, and like
I do, think it's important to create some space for
corporate giants to like come back home. And if it's
never enough what they do when they are working to remediate,
you risk calcifying existing positions. So for the time being,
(56:25):
I'm incredibly grateful that Google is putting these folks back on.
I think this never should have happened, and I hope
that we've sort of learned our lesson and never have
to do it again. Terry Shilling, the president of the
American Principles Project, Thanks as always for coming on and
sharing your expertise.
Speaker 2 (56:39):
Thanks, Matt, that's all the time we have.
