to be joined by one oh seven m us the
Moose there in their post game for their game of
the week right now. Exciting game of the week as
always on both sides of that my ninety six to

Okay Red defeating grand Haven tonight sixty three to fourteen,
while Rockford beats Caledonia thirty four to fourteenth. So Hudsonville
is at very least a co champion of the Red.
Hudsonville can win it outright next week if they win
at Grandville, Rockford's keeping their hopes alive. Rockford needs to
win next week in its finale against West Oudaway in

(01:33):
hope that Rockford or Hudsonville is upset at West or
at Granville. Rather, the Okay Silver showdown is set for
next week. Belding won, Godwin is about to win. They're
winning big in the fourth quarter. What that means next Friday,
Godwin's at Belding with the Okay Silver title on the line.
Winner take all in Belding, Godwin Belding. That's a big

(03:46):

Speaker 3 (04:02):
They'll fix it in a snap.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Unity Christian glides to a perfect eight to oh thanks
to a dominating forty two to fourteen win against South Christian.
We saw the two teams trade touchdowns in the first quarter,
but the Sadars went for two, which gave them an
early one point lead. Unity then scored three times before
the half, most notably and the biggest score of the game,
a ninety seven yard house call from Ryer Devree. They

(04:27):
kept the offense rolling in the second half with another
one yard run. They just kept coming and coming from
the Unity offense. Pretty easy to pick my Healthcare Associates
play and player of the game again, Ryer Devrie with
that ninety seven yard touchdown run. The line just opened
right off and he was off to the races. My
player goes to the entire Unity offense seven touchdowns in

(04:49):
this game for five hundred and four total yards and
absolute dominating matchup for them. The Sadars are now eight
to oh, five to zero in conference, while South Christian
is four and four three and two. You in the
Okay Gold for the final week of the season, the
Sailors tool travel to the Cats take on Catholic Central,
while Unity Christian ends the regular season at home against
Pontiac Nottar Dame Prep. This report was presented by Service

a snap once again. The final score tonight forty two
to fourteen Unity Christian over South Christian. Reporting from Kentwood.

They will fix it in a snap.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
The Bulldogs they helped serve on their home field on
Senior night, taking down the Huskies of Forest Hills Northern
forty one to thirteen this evening and moved their record
to five and three on the year. Now, the Forestills
Northern coaching staff, they really had to be ecstatic about
how the first ten plays of this game were run.
After the opening kickoff, the Huskies, they moved the ball

(06:48):
nicely down the field. However, on play eleven, quarterback on
Ostipo he coughed up the football for their first two
turnovers in the half, and the Bulldogs, well, they were
able to dominate offensively each time they touched the ball,
they took advantage of that fumble went seventy eight yards,
ending with a nineteen yard touchdown pass from Easton Whitchers

(07:09):
to Chase Schwartz late in the first quarter. Then the
Huskies were on the move to answer back, but another turnover,
as mentioned a tremendous interception by Owen Deyong Byron Center
I gave the ball back to the Bulldogs early in
the second quarter, and that led to an eight yard
touchdown run by junior running back Cam Payne for the Bulldogs,

(07:29):
who wasn't close to being done scoring for the night,
and not even in this first half. After a quick
three and out force by the BC defense, Payne scored
again with under a minute left to play in the half,
extending the score to twenty to nothing heading into the
locker room. The third quarter, it was much of the
same for the Bulldogs as they continued to score at Will.

(07:49):
Well more specifically, Cameron Payne scored at Will. He scored
two more touchdowns on the two ensuing possessions by the Bulldogs.
I gave him four straight trots into the end zone
for the home team, but give Forest Hills Northern credit
the Huskies, they continued to show life they threw the
ball very well. It first led to a twenty five
yard touchdown catch by Cam Weinkin from Owen Astipo. Then,

(08:12):
after forcing the Bulldogs to their first punt of the game,
Ostopo scored on his own with a five yard touchdown run. However,
the deficit it was just too much That forced a
turnover on downs for the Huskies on the next top
possession where they touched the ball, and a final score
by the Bulldogs with under five minutes left to play.
That led to our final tally tonight a forty one

(08:36):
to thirteen. Your Healthcare Associates Player of the game and
no doubt or tonight Cameron Payne, junior running back for
Byron Center. He ran for nearly two hundred yards this
evening and as mentioned earlier, he scored four straight touchdowns
to push the Bulldogs closer to the playoffs in twenty
twenty five.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
So your final score.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
Byron Center forty one, Forest Hills, Northern thirteen. With the win,
the Bulldogs go to five and three on the season,
four and one in the Okgreen. They will take on
Morris from Ellinois next week and the Bulldogs have probably
sealed up their playoff berth this season long, and they
will be a force directing with once again trying to
get back to Ford Field in Division two, Forest Hills

(09:19):
Northern three and five on the year two and three
in the Okgreen and they will have a tough task
again next week as they will horse host Norfview at
Forest Hills Northern Field. Reporting from Byron Center High School.
This is Michigan Sports Radio's Jeff.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
Salvage as well.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
Across the middle, Oldon Spencer wide open on the backside,
running down the sideline after the catch inside the thirty
fifteen to ten five.

Speaker 7 (10:29):
They won't catch him all the way to the house.
Tean arback the senior time end.

Speaker 8 (10:35):
He got behind the corner.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
There was no safety over on that side, and a beautiful.

Speaker 8 (10:39):
Throw by Spencer in stride.

Speaker 9 (10:41):
He turns it up.

Speaker 6 (10:42):
No one was there and he put on the afterburners
and just like that, Catholic Central of the quick strike,
they lead.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
It down twenty to doubt me bred Bakeda on the call.

Thank you ricking the OK Red tonight.

Speaker 10 (11:12):
We'll start where Rockford moves to six and two with
a thirty four to fourteen win, versus Caledonia East Kentwood
with a late touchdown, gets past Grahamville twenty at thirty

Well Thorn Eppel Kellogg speaks past Holland Christian twenty two

Speaker 10 (11:59):
In the o ok Gold, Zealand East defeats Forestsyvil Central
twenty eighth fourteen. We'll have a full report on that
one with Arbury on Lucas symbol, while Zealand West rolls
Wyoming sixty two to six. And you heard our in
game report Renby Monaghan tell you that Unity Christian defeated
South Christian forty two to fourteen. In the Oka Silversaw
Belding improved a seven and one with a fifty to

(12:21):

twenty four to twenty one, and Lonnington Orioles improved to
eight and oh with a fifty five to fifteen win

(12:53):
versus Muskegan Orchard View back to you, Rick.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
All right, thanks. Normally, our staff makes a decision to
come up with our service professor electifying play the night Boy.
We have some doozies tonight. Take your choice.

Speaker 11 (13:07):
Well.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
First of all, Coopersville's Champ Kelly hit Brooks Hayden for
a seventy yard touchdown pass. That was pretty nice. A
few minutes later, those same too, Kelly to Hayden again
on a ninety seven yard touchdown pass. Think that's got
to be it. Not to be outdone. Unity Christian's Ryer
Devrie running back ran ninety seven yards untouched for a
rushing touchdown. Let's give it both to Kelly Brooks and

(13:29):
Brooks Hayden and Ryer Devrie Bill combine to that long
pass play and that long, incredibly long run touchdown by
Debris for our service professor electrifying play of the night. Hey,
we're gonna take a time out and we're gonna come
back with a report on the East Kentwood game at
from Granville. A lot of points scored in that one,
as you might have expected back with more. We're just

(13:50):
getting geared up here on the Meyers Scoreboard Show on
ninety six to one the game and we welcome our
listeners on one oh seven mus the Moose reporting from
Grandville High School.

Speaker 9 (14:02):
This is Service Professor's Game Reporter Dan hay Steve with
the Meyer High School Scoreboard Show summary. This report presented
by you know who Service Professor Heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical.
They'll fix it in a snap here tonight it was
East Kentwood that ultimately emerges victorious by a final score
of thirty five to twenty, although it was a game

(14:23):
that was a little bit closer than the final score indicated.
We didn't think we would say that after the first half,
when East Kentwood got three passing touchdowns from future Michigan
State Spartans quarterback Cade Kaufman to make it twenty eight
to six after the first two quarters. But whatever was
said in that Grandville locker room seemed to have worked.

(14:44):
In the third, Grandville a touchdown on their first possession.
Jase hope Well, a sophomore recently brought up to the
varsity level, with a two yard rushing touchdown his second
touchdown of the ballgame, and then with a twenty eight
to four deficit. Grandville got a pick an interception from
one of their defensive backs, Keegan Crawl at the goal

(15:07):
line to turn away in East Kentwood scoring drive that
gave them the football and after a long fourth and
fourteen conversion, it was a Jase hope Well three yard
passing reception. It was a catch from his quarterback in
Fogel Songer that made a twenty eight to twenty in
favor of Grandville. They even got the football back one

(15:28):
more time with two minutes left, but it was an
interception by East Kentwood's Austin Nelson, also a sophomore by
the way, and that set up the final score of
the contest. But that interception really was the nail and
the coffin for the Bulldogs. Bam Netlman's fifteen yard run
finish the scoring. As for the records, East Kentwood is

(15:49):
now six and two they get grand Haven next week.
On the other side, Grandville sits at four and four
and next week they have to deal with those Hudsonville Eagles.

Speaker 8 (16:01):
As for our.

Speaker 9 (16:02):
Healthcare Associates play of the game, Tonight's gotta be that
interception by Austin Nelson, who was able to rarely cement
the victory with a big play from the defense. For
East Kentlin, for all the talk we do about their offense,
their defense is pretty good and certainly was when they
needed to be here tonight. As for our Healthcare Associates

(16:23):
Player of the game, that one's easy Cade Kaufman with
those three passing touchdowns in the first half to build
up the lead that East Kentwood would never relinquish. But
an honorable mention to Jace Hopewell of Grandville. He had
his first three touchdown game at the varsity level here tonight,
again from Grandville High School. This is service professor's game. Reporter,

(16:47):
Dan Hasty, your final East Kentwood thirty five and Grandville.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Twenty All right, thanks a lot, Dan, great jobs this year.

Speaker 8 (16:56):
All right.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
We mentioned that Unity Christian won the ok Gold Conference
defeating South Christian forty two to fourteen. With that win,
they stay perfect in conference play. Let's go to the
live line right now, and Unity Christian assistant coach Matt
Baker joined us right now. Coach Baker, thanks for joining
us here on the live line. Rick Burkie in the
studio here, coach, let's talk a little bit about the
conference Crown has got to feel good to the guys,

(17:18):
because I'm sure that's a top priority every year.

Speaker 12 (17:20):
Yeah, thanks Rick for having us, and thanks for letting
me fill in for Craig. He's still with the team
right now. But yeah, you know, every year we kind
of talk about having goals for the season, and we
don't always you know, say that our goal is to
have a conference championship and list, you know, as that
one of the things that we have on the top
of our board. But that's that's always out there in
the back of our mind. And the kids have played

(17:43):
well and so we're excited for that accomplishment for them
for sure.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Matt. When I spoke with coach Tibby and my Pigskin
Party show earlier this week, he said, this team's a
little different. The scores look the same for Unity Christian
this year, but this team's a little bit and tell
us about how they're different maybe from the last couple
of years.

Speaker 12 (17:59):
Yeah, you know, I think for this group, we kind
of look at this a group as just a blue
collar group, and that's kind of what our program has
been built on, is just guys that go to work
and play hard and are coachable, and that group kind
of fits into this mold as well. And you know,
maybe we don't always have like the superstar players, but

(18:22):
they're a group that's come together really well.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
You know, there's the most surprising score of the season.
From your standpoint, we really popped our eyes out when
it came in. You win over Zealand West fourteen to six.
Not that you won, but those two teams combined for
just three touchdowns. That game's usually up in the thirties
and forties and maybe more talk about that game and
how that was a little different taste for you.

Speaker 12 (18:45):
Yeah, that was a little bit of a defensive battle
for sure, and you know, we have a lot of
respect for what Zealand West has been able to accomplish,
and they have given us fits over the years trying
to stop them. And we had a group that all
again for our defense on defensive end of things, that
bought into our game plan and executed at a really

(19:06):
high level. I know offense was a little frustrated maybe
that they weren't able to get more things going, but
again that's pretty much a credit to Zeeland West and
how hard their kids play as well.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Matt tell us what it means to the program, the school,
and the entire Unity Christian family to have Isaac Taslah
playing in the NFL with the Lions right now.

Speaker 12 (19:27):
Yeah, what an unbelievable a thing for for him and
his parents, and uh, you know, it's just it's a
it's a really cool thing for the entire community to
rally behind and to see, you know, uh, somebody who
we all enjoyed coaching and you know we're really proud of.
To be able to play for the Lions is just

(19:47):
it's an awesome thing. And sometimes it doesn't really even
seem real when you see them out there. Yeah, it's like,
holy cow, Like it's just unbelievable. But it's a pretty
neat thing for our community, that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Matt. You you've got that league crown in the bank
right now, You've got the playoff berth notched up. You
got an interesting final non conference game against Notre Dame
Prep from Pontiac next Friday. Tell us about how that
one came about.

Speaker 12 (20:13):
Yeah, they were looking for a Week nine game as
the previous year as well, So we kind of have
a two year agreement with them, and so you know,
we looked at that as a as a great test
before the playoffs for our kids, you know, and we
have a lot of again respect for their program and
what coach Fox has done over there obviously last year

(20:33):
with them winning the Division five state championship there. They're
a good program and they're a big test for us
right before the playoffs, but throughout the course of the
year we kind of feel like we get battle tested
and it's one more opportunity to play a really good
opponent to get us ready for a playoff push hopefully.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
All right, Thanks Matt Becker Baker, assistant coach for Orridy Christian.
Congrats on you guys winning the conference crown today. Best
of luck down the road and we'll look for you
good things from the Crusaders in the postseason as well.

Speaker 12 (21:04):
Thanks, Rick, appreciate it all right.

Speaker 1 (21:06):

wide receiver Miles Pell in the back quarter of the
end zone for a thirty one yard scoring strike to

(25:58):
time the game at seven. Into the half. FHD got
a seven yard touchdown run from Williams on the initial
drive of the second half to take a fourteen to
seven lead midway through the third, but it was all
Zealand East after that. Ben Delost artially blocked a Ranger
punt to set up Dreennick's forty six yard touchdown pass
to a wide open Boonster to tie the score at
fourteen late in the third, and then Delost recovered a

(26:19):
Forestail Central fumble early in the fourth to set up
a Chicks drive that included receptions of thirty six and
twenty six yards by Kobe Miller before Drennick again fell
Miller for a five yard touchdown pass to make it
twenty one to fourteen Zelanese With five fifty three left
to go, Gerard and Nightlinger stripped and recovered the ball
on Forestil Central's and suede kickoff return for zelan East,

(26:39):
and the Chicks put the game out of reach with
a Jack Campis two yard touchdown run. Campis's score was
set up by our Healthcare Associate's play of the game
a minute before, when Boonstro made a diveam one handed
twenty two yard catch on fourth and thirteen to keep
the ball out of Forestil Central's hands when the chance
to potentially send the game into overtime, Forestil Central dropped
a two and six with the law one in four

(27:00):
in the ok Gold and will play at East Grand
Rapids in week nine next Friday to close off their season.
Zealanese solidified its playoff prospects immntally with the win, upping
their record to five and three two and three in
the goal and we'll close off the regular season next
week at Hamilton with the opportunity to completely assure their
spot in the postseason in two weeks. This report was
presented by service professor. They'll fix it in a snap

(27:23):
once again. Our final here tonight from Zealand Stadium was
Zelanese twenty eight fort Cel Central fourteen and our Healthcare
Associates players of the game were actually was actually the
Zealanese passing attack as Dridik went twelve to sixteen for
two hundred two yards and three touchdowns through the air,
with Boonstra accounting for six of those receptions for one
hundred and eleven yards and two TVs, while Miller chipton

(27:44):
with six catches of his own for ninety one yards
and a score and He also made a strip fumble
recovery with seventeen seconds left in the game. Reporting from
Zealand Stadium, This is Sir Professor game reporter Lucas Simbol.

Speaker 10 (27:56):
A couple more finals came in from the River City's Alliance.
Loll defeated It's Part of the Night thirty five to fourteen,
while Coopersville they improved to four and four and give
Big Rapids their first loss of the season. Thirty eight

Rick Burkie back in the studio trying to track down
coach Ed Caman from Coopersville. Let's remind you who won
the conference crown tonight that we Unity Christian wins the
Okay Gold Conference, defeating South Christian forty two to fourteen.
Catholic Central claims the ok Black Division, defeating Northvieugh in
our ninety six to one Game of the Week thirty
five to satellite. Kenawa Hills wins the River City's Alliance,

(28:59):
knocking off Grandville nothing. Luddington wins the West Michigan Conference
Lakes Division with a win over orchard View by a
score of fifty five to fourteen.

Speaker 8 (29:12):
Big win.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Lunnington stays perfect six and oh overall in the conference
play and eight and oh overall. Hudsonville clinches at least
to share the OKA Red defeating Grand Havens sixty three
to fourteen, so that means they'll have at least to
share the title. Rockford stays a Bay game back. Rockford
won tonight, Rockford winning at home over Caledonia thirty four

(29:35):
to fourteen, so that means going into the final night
of league play one week from tonight, Hudsonville is six
and oh Rockford's five to one. If Hudsonville wins, they
are the outright champs. Hudsonville is knocked off and Hudsonville
plays at Granville next week, and then Rockford wins in
its finale against West Ottawa, the two teams would share it,
but again Hudsville has a chance to claim it all
to themselves with a win. The OK Silver matchup is

(29:58):
all set for next week in Belding. Belding one Big
Tonight and Godwin also one Big Tonight. That means Belding
and Godwin will square off next week in Belding with
a winner take it all the okay silver title on
the line again. We're gonna take a break and we're
gonna we don't have coach yet, do we?

Speaker 8 (30:15):
We do not?

Speaker 1 (30:15):
All right, Let's take a time out and come back.

Camp with a report on the West Michigan Lakes battle
between Luddington and orchard View.

Speaker 14 (31:04):
Scott reporting from Orch Review's Cardinals Stadium. This is Service
Professor Game Reporter Scott de Camp with a Meyer High
School scoreboard show summary. This report is presented by Service
Professor Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical. They'll fix it a snap.
Lettington clinched the Outright West Michigan Conference Lakes Division title
with an emphatic fifty five to fifteen victory over orch Review.

(31:25):
The Orioles stand beaten at eight and oh, finishing six
and oh in the Lakes as they're off to the
programme's best start since the nineteen eighty nine squad finished
nine to oh on the regular season. This year's team
will try to match that feat next week as Luddington
hosts Howard City Tri County in a non league matchup
against orchard View. Senior quarterback Cam Gunzo, the Hyms Brothers

(31:46):
and the Lunnington defense led the way. Gunzo was the
Healthcare Associates Player of the game, as you rushed for
four touchdowns and passed for two more. That gives a
six foot, three hundred and ninety one pounder twenty nine
rushing touchdowns in eighteen past scores on the season. He
is a fair Estate commit. It's been a special week
for the Gunzel family, as Luddington head coach Charlie Gunzel,

(32:07):
Cam's father, was named the Detroit Lions High School Coach
of the Week. He received a gatorade bath after tonight's game.
Cam Gunzel scored on runs of twenty three, six, five,
and forty yards, and he connected with Cal Hims on
a thirteen yard touchdown pass and was Zat Graham on
a fourteen yard scoring toss. Mikey Hyms scored on a
thirty one yard run and the third Hims brother Messiah,

(32:29):
capped the game scoring with a thirty yard touchdown run.
Orch Review speeds. Sir Kamari Reees scored both of the
Cardinals' touchdowns, the first on an eighty yard kickoff return,
which was the Healthcare Associate's play of the game on
the final play of the first half, and he also
scored the second and that one came on a forty
four yard run tight roping the visitor's sideline orch Review

(32:52):
moved the ball at times, but the tough Luddington defense
and Cardinals miscus proved too much to overcome. Orch Review,
which saw its four game winning streak snapped, hosts a
solid Shelby squad next week to wrap up the regular season.
The Cardinals, who are four and four overall and finish
two and four in the Lakes, are hoping to keep
their playoff hopes alive one more time. Reporting from Orch
Review's Cardinals Stadium, We're Lettington defeat Orch Review fifty five

(33:14):
to fifteen. This is Service Professor Game Reporter Scott DeCamp.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
Reporting from Coopersville High School.

Speaker 15 (33:25):
This is Service Professor Game Reporter Bo Hobson the Meyer
High School Scoreboard.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
Show game Summary.

Speaker 15 (33:31):
This report is presented by Service Professor Eating, Cooling, Plumbing,
and Electrical. They'll fix it in a snap final Here
from Coopersville tonight, thirty eight to twenty eight.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
Coop coming out on top at home and man.

Speaker 15 (33:43):
This was a fun one. We got a lot to
get to, so I'm gonna jump right in. Coop took
a fourteen to nothing lead in the first behind the
dynamic duo of freshman quarterback Champ Kelly and senior wide
out Brooks had it. They connected on the first score
of the game from your four yards out and then
later in the first from seventy yards out, Kelly It's
hadn't perfectly in stride and he took it untouched to

(34:05):
the crib to give Coop the two touchdown lead. The
Broncos tried a surprise on side kick after that score,
which was negated by a penalty, and Big Rapids took advantage.
Cardinal running back Jack Bollman bullied his way into the
end zone for a ten yard score and it was
fourteen to seven. Then early in the second, Coopersville was
backed up deep in its own territory on the three

(34:26):
yard line, but the dynamic duo comes alive again. Champ
Kelly finds a wide open brooks Headen over the middle
of the field and gets it to him right in stride,
and once hadden't gets in the open field. At least tonight,
you just weren't catching a ninety seven yard house call
for the duo who did all the scoring for Coop
in the first half in what was Tonight's Healthcare Associates.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
Play of the game.

Speaker 15 (34:48):
Just when it looked like that huge play might have
given Coop all the momentum, Big Rapids sucked the life
out of the crowd of the long methodical drive in
the ground, capped off with a two yard touchdown run
by quarterback Heist to make it twenty one to fourteen
halfway through the second, and then just before the half,
the Cardinals punched it in again after as twelve play
fifty five yard drive was capped off once again by

(35:11):
Cole Heist finding Owen Craven through the air, this time
for a two yard touchdown reception, and we went into
the break knotted up at twenty one. Now, if the
first half was a fireworks show, the second half was
more like a heavyweight fight. Forty two total points scored
in half one just seventeen scored in half two, but
that didn't limit the excitement Coopersville got. The scoring started

(35:33):
in the third when Champ Kelly found you guessed it,
Brooks hadn't for their fourth touchdown of the night from
thirty four yards out.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
The Broncos pushed it to a two score game.

Speaker 15 (35:42):
Later on in the third thirty one yard field goal
from kicker Sam Kelly, the Big rap Is wasn't ready
to go just quite yet. The Cardinals made it a
three point game when Jack Bowman bowled his way into
the end zone from four yards out capping a ten
play fifty five yard drive and the score set thirty
one to twenty eight with nine and a half minutes
left in the game. After six scoreless minutes, disaster struck

(36:07):
for Big Rapids. They had Coopersville on the ropes deep
in their own territory, fourth and forever. Coop was preparing
to punt when all of a sudden, there's some yellow
laundry that hit the field and people started counting. Big
Rapids had twelve players on the field. Even the home
crowd couldn't believe it. That penalty gave Coopersville a first down,

(36:27):
and on the very next play, Leland Nole bursts through
the line. He takes it fifty five yards to the
end zone to ice the game for Coopersville. Big Rapids
falls to seven and one on the season after losing
this heartbreaker, but they still find themselves firmly in the
playoff picture, and they can solidify that with a win
at home versus Alma next week. Coopersville, meanwhile, they improved

(36:50):
a four and four on the season and four and
two in RCA play, and though their hopes of a
share of the RCAA crown were dashed by Kenawat Hills
rolling to a victory tonight. This win certainly improves their
hopes of a playoff birth once again. Final here in
a thriller at Coopersville thirty eight to twenty eight. Coop
over Big Rapids, and I'm giving our Healthcare Associates Player

(37:12):
of the game to the two headed monster. Tonight, champ
Kelly and Brooks had together two hundred and twelve yards
receiving and catching and four touchdowns, simply dominant this evening.
Reporting from Coopersville High School. This is service professor game
reporter Bohaps.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
All right, thanks, bo, I don't know how you could
do anything else but give it to both those guys.
Both Kelly and Hayden hadn't rather a four touchdown pass
doesn't happen too often, one combination in high school football.
Speaking of Coopersville, coach Ed Caman joined us on the
live line right now. Big win for the Broncos tonight. Coach,
you gotta feel awful good about the way your guys
played at home, Hey.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
Rick, really proud of the kids. Had a great night.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
All right, let's talk a little bit about the game.
It looked like you maybe you're gonna put up some
distance right away, and then but hey, they fought back.
They're not undefeated for no good reason. You had a
great game twenty one, twenty one and a half when
back and forth and that big fourth down play that
Bo just talked about. Let's talk about the turns of
the tie. Do you think act eventually gave it to
the Broncos. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (38:12):
I just can't say enough about our seniors. You know,
we did a great job of sorting through what they
were doing defensively and making some adjustments. I thought the
run game we did did more than enough. We just
we did a good job up front sorting through some
of their pressure and getting people blocked up, and we
were able to run the football with some success, which
was a huge part of the night tonight. And then
obviously you can't look past the connection with Champ Kelly

(38:33):
and Brooks. Hadd't obviously four touchdowns tonight, but man, they
made a lot of big plays down the field. And
I'm just really proud of the kids. They how they
played and just sticking in there and staying the course
winning a tough.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
Grady game, especially after you lost a heartbreaker last week
by three to Kenwall Hills it's got to feel good.
Coaches always feel good when you guys bounce back after
a loss.

Speaker 5 (38:52):
Well, we spent a lot, you know. After the game,
I'm talking to the kids in our huddle, you know,
and we're down there in our end zone. I said, hey,
you know, seven days ago we sad the same spot,
you know, and it was it was tough to swallow.
We knew we had our chances and just didn't execute
well enough to win last week. And we talked about
just staying the course and kicking the door down, and
they did that tonight. So I'm really proud of our
kids for their reside, just their ability to fight and

(39:13):
find a way to win.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
Back to that Kelly had in combination, I've got to
think if it's not a school record for touchdown receptions,
got to be awful close. Do you know yet if
that is a school record.

Speaker 5 (39:23):
I'd have to take a look. I'm not quite sure.
I know, we've had some other kids that have had several.
I'm not sure if if that's going to be a
school record or I'd off to take a peek. But
one of those was a ninety seven yard er, so
that might be a record as well. Just enough to
look but either way, just just a great night and
some big plays by Brooks as a senior in the
last home game, so pretty impressive.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
You not only got to win, coach, you picked up
some nice bonus points from big Rapids being undefeated and
all the wins that they got got to make you
feel awful a lot better about your playoff situation.

Speaker 5 (39:50):
Yeah, you know, we knew we were kind of fighting
for our lives.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
You know.

Speaker 5 (39:52):
Last week, we knew that playing the good football team
Kenial Hell's and we'll have to scratch, fight and claude
and to find a way to win. And like I said,
just fell short. And we knew that. You know, the
end of the schedule wasn't favorable. We were playing some
really good teams you know, that hadn't had many losses,
So we knew a rough fight for everything we get.
And we're not done yet. There's a lot of things
we can improve on and work on next week, and
we'll get back to work doing that. But we're just

(40:12):
gonna celebrate this one tonight and just super proud of
the kids. I just I think they definitely proved their chances.
But we got business to take care of next week
and we'll take care of that.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Yeah, you do, you do go on the road, Ed,
you go to Cedar Springs. Always a tough place.

Speaker 5 (40:25):
To win there, I say that again, Sorry, I lost.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
I say you go to Cedar Springs next week for
the regular season finale. That's always a tough place to play.

Speaker 5 (40:35):
Absolutely, Yeah, I Gus, that's a great job. That's a
great environment to play in up there. So we definitely
are gonna have to be prepared that they run the
t offense and they're gonna give everything to handle. They're
a good football team. Obviously, I have a bunch of wins.
So we're gonna have a great week of practice and
go get more best shot. We'll just use the old
twenty four hour role tonight. We'll celebrate this one and
be ready to go to see the Springs next week.

Speaker 1 (40:56):
Finally, ed, second year of the River City's Alliance Conference
and foot all Action. What's your reaction so far? Is
playing in the RCA.

Speaker 5 (41:04):
Now, we love it. River City's lines have been great.
You know, we got schools that really compete and we
can leak out. There's not a week where you're like,
oh man, we're gonna look past anybody you know, there's
a lot of really good football and good coaches, so
it's a challenge every week. So we're excited about the
direction of the league and where we're at, and just
excited to keep growing the league as being more forward.

Speaker 1 (41:23):
Coach Ed Caman, thanks for joining us. Best of luck
next week and then in the postseason.

Speaker 8 (41:27):
We hope thanks.

Speaker 5 (41:29):
Rack appreciate you all.

Speaker 1 (41:30):

Rick all right, that win by West Cathy gives them
the Okay White Crown with a perfect five. And oh, Mark,
so congratulations to them, and congratulations to coach Glandon Grove
and he joins us on the line right now. Coach,
congrats on the win tonight. I know that when the
team goals are set, usually winning the conference crown is
a top priority.

Speaker 11 (45:28):
Yeah, it's our number one priority for us, you know,
and it feels good to cross that out the list.
And you know for our seniors, that's four in a
row for our program, and you know, really happy for
our senior class that they get to go out and
that's all they know is conference championships and they're really
proud of that. I'm really proud of him for that. So, yeah,
it's a good step. You' stone on a good a
good accomplishment.

Speaker 9 (45:49):
For our program.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
To have that kind of continuity in winning like that,
you've got to have leadership, not only in your coaching staff,
but your upperclassmen. How do you keep that going? Landon
And you know, the guys understand and when they start
a new year, what happened previously doesn't matter. You got
to start over from scratch.

Speaker 11 (46:07):
Yeah, like, that's that's a big deal here because it's
really easy to look at past success and just assume
it's gonna happen again. It's like, yeah, we have it's
a reteaching moment every summer and every team is different.
And that's the beautiful thing about high school football is
it's it is truly educational athletics, and it's reteaching our kids.
You know what it takes to be great, you know,
developing new leaders. I couldn't be more proud of our
leadership this year. You know, we have some really good captains,

(46:27):
but our senior class as a whole has really stepped up.
And I guess the first time as a coach I've
had a freshman class all the way through. So this
group means a lot to me. And they are all
in on the culture and you know, there's no there's
no ego in the room. Like we have two running
backs and Conrad Shensky and Colin Abram who are splitting
carries about fifty to fifty and you know, either one
of them by themselves will probably be one of the

(46:47):
top rushers in the state. And those two just don't flinch, like, yeah,
next man up.

Speaker 5 (46:51):
We know we're gonna roll the hot hand.

Speaker 11 (46:52):
We're gonna try to keep you those guys fresh. So
you know, it's a beautiful thing when you got unselfish kids,
and you know that starts with starts with our captains
and starts with us, and it carries on down. So
I'm really proud of those guys, and I'm proud of
our kids are buying into you know, just you know,
just doing what it takes to be great landing.

Speaker 1 (47:07):
Is there a position group on this team that actually
is more than what you thought might be at the
beginning of the year, you know, exceeded expectations.

Speaker 11 (47:16):
Yeah, our receiver group coming into the year was a
question mark, and not because like we were unsure if
they were good players, Like we know we hadn't talented
players out there, but we lost a lot of production
last year. You know, Jackson Gunnis was a heck of
a good receiver, and so was Gabe Sweeters. They're both
you know, they were both college players. And then we
lost Aaron Record week two, so our three top receivers
were out, and we've had some really good production from
Thomas tux To this year, who stepped up as a junior,

(47:39):
cam In body Is stepped up as a senior and
done a really nice job, and then Owen Hunter as well,
and the slot and you know, we got a sophomore
and Isaac Plum who comes in and can play both
inside and outside to help us out. And Cal Peterson
another senior who stepped in big in that receiving corps
and they've done a really nice job. And our quarterback
Grady at Gustin's returning starter and done a really good
job as well in regards to you know what what

(48:00):
take to, you know, distribute the ball to those pieces,
and you know, we've.

Speaker 5 (48:02):
Done a really nice job of letting.

Speaker 11 (48:04):
Those guys grow and keep building them as the year
goes on. And it's been really been a game of
give and take. You know, there's some weeks where we
throw it a little bit. There's some weeks, we run
it a little bit and those things are starting to
blend together nicely.

Speaker 1 (48:13):
Coach, you've got the conference crown already in the bank
right now. You you know, you've got a position in
the in the postseason already secured. But you've got a
really tough regular or non conference finale against Zealand West,
another powerhouse in West Michigan. Tell us about how are
you going to approach that game understanding that you've got
games to play after that?

Speaker 11 (48:34):
Yeah, no, that that's a great question. And we we
talked about other kids after is like, you know, there's
gonna a lot of people. It doesn't really mean much
in regards to playoff points. You know, we're we're probably
know where we're at in regards to that and where
we're gonna be seated. But for us, like we we think,
we know it's a huge opportunity for us, Like we
get to go against to the defending state champs from
Division III. We played them in a whale of a
game last year, so our kids are hungry to go

(48:55):
back and play and compete with them, and it's a
it's a great opportunity to go out and you know,
see where we're at and measure ourselves against a really
really good playoff team in Division III. Get our kids
ready for playoff football and you know, and just get
that intensity level felt. Not only just in regards to
game and opponent, but this is physically as well. As
everyone knows. Zealand West is a physical of a group.

(49:15):
As they get they're really well coached, they play, they
play hard football. Man, they're they're they're tough to beat,
and that's why we schedule them. You know, we want
we scheduled difficult in the non conference on purpose. We've
done that every year. Is because we want to give
ourselves the best opportunity to be prepared when it's time
in the playoffs. And you know, we know we got
to stop the run to win playoff games.

Speaker 1 (49:32):
And what better tests than that in the Zealand West
lad And Grove, head coach of West Cathy, thanks for
sharing some time with us. Best of luck next week
and in the postseason as well, coach.

Speaker 11 (49:42):
Yeah, anytime. Thanks for all you doing covering high school kids.

Speaker 1 (49:45):
All right, thank you very much, buddy. Okay, we'll take
a break, come back with more of the scoreboard show
on ninety six won the game and one with seven
m us the Moose. That rough wraps up eight coverage
here for our high school football coverage on ninety six
to one, the game one oh seven m Us the Moose.

(50:06):
We're back with week nine next week, starting at six o'clock.
We got our games of the week and let me
quickly peek ahead, Adam right here where they go. Yeah,
our ninety six to one game of the week, Zealand
West at West Catholic. We just talked with Land and Grove,
head coach of West Cathic about that game and our
one oh seven mus game of the week Oakridge at
North Muskegan. Two dynamite games to finish it up before

(50:28):
we get ready for playoff coverage. Next week will be
the final week of sports play coverage, which means my
last week of involvement, but the both stations will carry
on with post uh post play postseason play with games
of the week each week on ninety six one in
the game one oh seven m Us the Moose. So
get ready to stay in tune. But next week we're
going to tell you how it's all gonna shape up.
Start taking a look about who might play who, and

(50:49):
tell you a little bit about when you find out
for sure, and the playoffs start in two weeks from tonight.
All right, I want to thank my co host Joe
Aerin for his fine work as always executive producer. Here
you're in the studio, John Elk, scoreboard supervisor Cole Benia.
So until next time, Rick Burkey saying thanks for joining us.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
