Speaker 1 (01:57):
Crazy peace to one, to all.
Welcome to another rendition ofthe Moral Compass Chronicles.
I am your guy.
I'm your brother.
I'm your host, Eyon J E Y O N JA Y Y.
And you can find me everywhere.
Just about everywhere.
Okay.
And today is December 25th.

(02:20):
Well, it's really December26th.
But this is the Christmasrendition of the Moral Compass
Chronicles.
Happy holidays to each andevery single one of you.
Whatever it is that youcelebrate.
I want to wish you a happyholiday.
And I want to wish each andevery one of you a Merry

(02:43):
Christmas.
Now, do we know like whether ornot Jesus was born today?
Not really.
Some people are certain that hewas born, you know, in the
springtime or, you know,wintertime.
Whatever.
I don't care.
Can I just say?

(03:05):
I don't care.
Okay.
I today is not Jesus' day.
Alright?
Today is not today is not theday we are celebrating because
Jesus was born today.
Today is the day that we arecelebrating the birth of Jesus.
Okay?
That's it.

(03:27):
That's it.
Do we know if his birthday wastoday?
No, we don't know.
But he's God.
So it doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter.
Let's not get caught up.
And I didn't mean to come in sohot at you.
But let's not get so caught upin if today Christmas is his

(03:49):
birthday.
Or if it's January something,or if it's another day.
Let's not get too caught up inthat.
What matters is that he wasborn.
He was born and it was animmaculate conception borrowing

(04:09):
the womb of a virgin because thewomb had to be pure.
Right?
And he chose a specificbloodline to come through in
order to come into the world asa man.
So that the world through himmight be saved, right?

(04:31):
So that's that's what matters.
And so I say Merry Christmasagain to you.
Isaiah chapter 9, verse numbersix, it says, For unto us a
child is born.
That's Jesus, right?
Unto us a son is given.
It goes on to say that thegovernment shall be upon his

(04:53):
shoulders, and his name shall becalled wonderful counselor, the
mighty God, the everlastingfather, the Prince of Peace, of
the increase of his government, and peace there shall be no end

(05:22):
upon the throne of David andupon his kingdom to order it,
and to establish it withjudgment and with justice from
henceforth even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hostswill perform this.
Right?

(05:43):
Wonderful counselor, the mightyGod, the everlasting Father.
So I think uh I think it'sclear what the word of God is
saying there, but I I just wantto wish you all a Merry
Christmas, man.
I I I have been through a lotthis year.

(06:03):
We probably have, I know youprobably have also.
There has been a lot that hastaken place in my life, the life
of my family.
Um, but we are here, we arehere, and I'm giving God thanks

(06:29):
for another year, anotherChristmas, being able to see it
and to celebrate, to be able tocelebrate with my family.
It is it was it is an honor.
It is an honor to be able toserve in this capacity, in the

(06:49):
many other capacities in which Ido serve.
Um I am grateful for so manythings, so many things.
I am grateful to be a son.

Speaker (07:09):
I'm grateful to be a brother.
I'm going in order, right?

Speaker 1 (07:16):
I'm grateful to be a friend to so many of you, and
then to go on to be able to havethe honor of being a husband to
my wife, shout out to my wife, and then to even go on to be
able to be a father, and um, Ihave been a father figure over

(07:39):
you know several years toseveral people, but to be a
father, um not just a spiritualor or figurative father, but an
actual father, a parent.
Um I'm I'm I'm blessed.

(07:59):
I count myself, I count myselfblessed, man, to be in the land
of the living and to be theperson that God chose to use to
create the Moral CompassChronicles, the Moral Compass

(08:20):
Group, uh 2026.
There is a lot in store.
There is a lot in store for2026 uh from the Moral Compass
Group, and I am excited to sharethese words with you, these

(08:42):
different platforms.
Um I'm excited to be able tocontinue to serve the people of
this world, uh, you all, mybrothers, my sisters, my
friends, and I wish a happyholiday to each and every one of

(09:06):
you.
I pray God's blessings overyour life, you, whoever you are,
you are listening right now.

and that you will remain in goodhealth, your family as well.
I pray that you seek first thekingdom of the Lord and his

(09:31):
righteousness, so that all thatyou need, all that you want, if
it's in his will, can be addedunto you.
Uh, that is my prayer for youall, and I'm grateful for my
entire family.
I love you, those who you knoware hearing this.
I love you, I appreciate you.
Shout out Refuge N C A C I havea little umpic I want to get

(10:05):
into here.
Um, I don't want to drone toomuch about uh you know how
grateful I am.
I'll you know probably get alittle emotional.
Um but shout out to mydaughter, man.
Shout out to my daughter.
She's she's here, man.
My daughter is here.
She's uh she'll be three monthsold on the 29th of December.

(10:26):
So she'll be going into the newyear three months, excuse me.
A little tired, but she'll begoing into the new year three
months old, man, and she is sheis truly a blessing to my life
and to my wife and I.
And so giving God thanks forher.

(10:48):
I have I have been realizingmore and more over the last few
years that my awareness to thephysical that we're seeing here,

(11:23):
my awareness in the spirit, orI meant the natural, right?
So in the spiritual and thenatural, I have been noticing a
growth or a rise rather in myawareness level.

(11:44):
And I find myself havingconversations with people as I'm
talking to them, I find myselfenlightening them, raising their

(12:09):
level of awareness to whateverthe situation is that they have
brought to me.
Okay, and I want you to stickwith me here.
We're not gonna be here longtoday.
And today is the Christmasedition, Christmas episode,
rather, but it's technically the26th, and today is my sister's

(12:32):
birthday.
My sister Savannah, so happybirthday, sis.
Shout out to my brother Ambroseas well.
Happy birthday to you guys, love you guys.
Um, as I have theseconversations with so many
people on a day-to-day basis,week to week.
I'm a mentor, I'm a minister,I'm a youth president, youth

(12:57):
chairman at my church.
I find myself as my awarenessin the natural and in the
spiritual has grown.
I find myself havingconversations with brothers and
sisters and friends and clients, and I find myself raising the

(13:27):
level of awareness for otherpeople.
As we have conversations, people are bringing things to
me, their situations, theircircumstances, whatever it may
be, and I find that I am havingconversations with them that is
raising their level of awarenessin the natural and in the
spiritual, and that sort ofstarted to lead me to see how

(13:59):
important one's level ofawareness is, and to take it a
step further, I have started tosee and understand that with a
raised level of awareness, nowit feels burdening when you

(14:29):
become more aware to situations, and you could just think just
like think about not knowingsomething, and then when you
find out, so just think about itin simple terms, right?
Let's just say, to for anexample's sake, you don't know
something, and then you findsomething out.

(14:50):
Let's say it's bad news, youare now feeling burdened.
You may feel uncomfortable, youmay start to feel a little bit
anxious, of course, depending onwhat the situation is.
Now, that I can liken that nowto just everything spiritual,

(15:16):
natural.
When you become aware ofthings, sometimes you may feel
the weight of it a little morenow.
You become aware to people andwho they are, who they really
are, and what they're about, what they've done, maybe even.

(15:38):
You could even start to nowstart to see things that you may
not have seen before.
It's so funny.
Certain things could be rightin front of your face for years,
but because you're not aware ofwhat's going on, it doesn't

(15:58):
bother you, right?
Somebody could be doingsomething in the dark, and you
could see this person everysingle day and not know.
Fun uh uh not fun, but uh uh alady at my church gave a
testimony, and I hope she'sdoing well right now because she
she she um I believe she wasdiagnosed with cancer not too

(16:20):
long ago.
So we're praying for you, sis.
Not gonna call her name, butwe're praying for you, and God
knows who you are.
But she gave a testimony thatshe was working with someone
every single day.
Every single day, she went towork, sat right next to this
lady.

(16:40):
They would talk, they'd havelunch, so on and so forth.
And years later, she had aconversation with the lady, and
the lady, I believe this is howit went, or somehow she found
out that the lady was doingwitchcraft on the weekends and

(17:01):
during the week, I guess.
I mean, every single weekend, the same way she would go to
church, this lady went to her,you know, I guess Satan
worshipping group, where theywould worship Satan and all of
these different things.
And every single day she satnext to this lady and had no

(17:22):
clue.
Every day she saw her, went towork with her every day, and had
no clue for years that thislady was practicing witchcraft,
worshiping the devil on theweekends, the same way we'd go
and go to church, worship God.
So she had no clue, and so itdidn't bother her, right?

(17:43):
But the second she found outnow your awareness has has
changed.
Her level of awareness has hasgrown, and now you're she's now
she finds herself no longercomfortable around this person,
right?
So I I found myselfunderstanding, and more so more

(18:10):
recently, that when yourawareness increases, so does
your responsibility.
When your awareness increases,so does your responsibility.

(18:31):
And I'm this is a message for2026.
All right, this is a messagefor myself.
If you find yourself uminterested in anything that I
have to say, then this is amessage for you as well.
As your awareness increases, sodoes your responsibility.

(18:54):
I mentioned those conversationsthat I have with people on a
daily, on a weekly basis, andsometimes we're on the horns of
a dilemma.
We find ourselves in asituation where we don't know
what to do.
We find ourselves feelingslided sometimes by other

(19:17):
people.
We find ourselves in asituation where somebody did
something to us, and now we haveto decide how we're gonna move
forward.
And I find myself having theseconversations, and I can even
think about one of my brothers Iwas just talking to not too
long ago.
Shout out to my dog, theawareness level grows, it

(19:44):
increases, and now you findyourself saying, Damn, well, I
can't respond how I always have.
Maybe in the past I wouldrespond in a certain way, but
now that I understand more, nowthat I'm able to see more in the

(20:06):
natural and see more in thespiritual, now that my level of
awareness to the how sensitivethings truly are, now that I
know that God is calling me tohandle situations better.
Now that I've become more awareof this, how I respond is

(20:35):
extremely important, more so nowthan it was in the past.
I would like to think, mybrothers and sisters, that these
episodes, these chronicles, rather, that I get on here and I
record and I put out into theworld, I would like to think
that through these chronicles, the awareness of somebody has

(21:01):
grown.
I would like to think that asyou are listening from the very
first episode, we're probablywe're approaching episode 20.
So about 20 episodes this year.
And it's funny because we'vealready passed the one-year
mark.
I believe we we launched theMoral Compass Chronicles.

(21:23):
I actually got to look intothat because we might have just
hit our one year.
We I believe we just hit oneyear on the Moral Compass
Chronicles, if I'm not mistaken.
So congratulations to us.
December 8th made one year.
And I I've had so much goingon, haven't even realized.

(21:47):
December 8th made one year.
I I recently heard that 90something percent of Podcasts
fail before the first year isup.
90% of 90 something percent ofpodcasts, and I got this

(22:08):
information from a very reliablesource.
Somebody much smarter than I amas it pertains to the
podcasting space.

Speaker (22:22):
Before they reach one year, they just stop.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
You just stop producing, you stop uploading
for whatever reason.
And I can understand why.
I mean, throughout this year, the amount of things that have
happened this year, I have hadso many reasons to stop doing
this.
I've had so many reasons to notand not necessarily give up,
but when life comes at you, it'sso easy for certain things to

(22:52):
take a back seat.
But you know what I realized?
This is my calling.
It is my calling to raise theawareness level of the people,
and this cannot fail, and itwill not, as long as you receive

(23:14):
something, then we're asuccess.
Success is not gonna bemeasured in dollars, not for us.
You notice I keep saying us,right?
We success here in this spaceis not gonna be measured by
dollars and downloads andsubscribers.

(23:34):
Oh my god.
Success is gonna be measured byhow much awareness we gain
together.
That's how success is gonna bemeasured for us in this space.
And I'm not talking about youand your individual life.
You got your own stuff goingon.

(23:56):
I'm talking about right here.
How much awareness have wegained this year?
This is episode 20.
This is Chronicle number 20.
We just hit the one year mark.
And and you've listened to thefirst episode, you probably
heard the second one.
I mean, I I know that as thethe the episode count grows,

(24:22):
there are less and less peoplewho have heard everything.
I think if the the very firstuh chronicle we did here, I mean
that one, that one, the the thenumbers on that one was, and
this is full transparency, thenumbers in that first episode,
crazy, wild.
And as I have continued,there's a dip, there's a drop,

(24:47):
there's a drop.
So I know that not everybodywho was here for the first one
is here for the 20th one, andthat's okay, that's expected.
But there are so many of youwho listen to the first one and
the second one, the fifth one,the tenth one, the fifteenth.
We've we surpassed a thousanddownloads.

(25:11):
So somebody's listening, and Iwant to know has your awareness
level grown this year throughthe Moral Compass Chronicles?
And if you feel like it has,you need to understand that you
have a higher level ofresponsibility now.

(25:33):
We have a higher level ofresponsibility.

Speaker (25:45):
Increased accountability.
Increased responsibility.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
That's a that is a uh that's an ideal or or a a um
what's the word a value of sortsthat's taught throughout the
Bible.
Increased awareness, it bringsincreased accountability and

(26:15):
responsibility.
There's a scripture that Ilove, James, I think it's James
chapter uh James chapter five, maybe, or James chapter three,
verse one.
It says, My brethren, be notmany masters.
And I think I've mentioned thisbefore to you guys, knowing
that we shall receive thegreater condemnation.

(26:37):
We definitely, we've we'vegone, I think we just we just
went through that scripture.
Last episode, I believe.
So we're in the spirit, we'rewe're right in the same vein
here.
We're right in the same vein.
Be not many masters, be notmany teachers.
Don't be so quick to take upleadership positions and

(27:00):
leadership roles.
Why?
Because as your awareness or asyour your as you level up, you
have greater responsibility.
Accountability gets it getstighter on you.
Ecclesiastes actually says thatin much wisdom is much grief,

(27:28):
oftentimes.
He that increaseth knowledgeincreaseth sorrow.
What does the writer mean?
Solomon in his old age.
What does he mean?
That's somebody who has seen,he says there's nothing new
under the sun.
He has seen the days of hisyouth.

(27:50):
Where he experienced love,young love.
He grew into and grew throughProverbs and into Ecclesiastes,
and he's now saying, and this isthe why as he he asked God for
wisdom.
He asked God for anunderstanding heart to be able
to lead the people of God.

(28:12):
And in his old age, he's sayingthat in much wisdom, the wisdom
that I asked God for, the thethe awareness that I have asked
God for, I've asked God to openmy eyes.
I've asked God to show methings.
Lord, give me visions, give medreams.
A lot of us have done that.
And here's here's Solomon whowho got the wisdom that he asked

(28:37):
for.
He dreamed dreams and sawvisions.
And he's saying that in muchwisdom can be much grief.
He that increaseth knowledgeincreaseth sorrow.
Why?
Because oftentimes you can beburdened by wisdom.

(28:58):
You can be burdened byawareness.
Now, watch this.
Watch out, watch where we'retaking this.
As I have gained awareness now,I can't, I'm not comfortable
doing the things that I used todo.
Oh Lord, help me now.
We're going somewhere.
As my awareness to how Godwants me to live has grown, as I

(29:26):
study my word, as I live forhim, as I look to please God in
all my ways, my awareness of himhas grown.
And as my awareness of God hasgrown, I can't go places I used
to go comfortably anymore.

(29:48):
I can't hang with people whoare doing certain things
comfortably anymore.
I feel the conviction of Godnow more than I used to when I
was less aware.
I grew up, you guys know me bynow.
You know my story.
You know that you know thatI've I grew up in church.
You know I grew up in church, right?
I grew up hearing the preachingof the gospel.

(30:11):
Not many people have areblessed to say that.
That they they were booked.
My mother's water broke inchurch, pregnant with me.
And my father had to rush herto the hospital.
I believe it was on a Monday,if I'm not mistaken, prayer
meeting.
I could be wrong about thedetails, but her water broke in

(30:32):
church, and I've been there mywhole life.
And over the years, when I Ican I can think back to when I
was younger, and I can thinkback and remember hearing the
word of God, knowing, okay, thisis what's right from wrong,

(30:53):
okay, cool.
But I didn't have the awarenesslevel that I have now.
I'm still hearing, see, theword of God has never changed.
God is the all, listen, allglory and all honor is due unto
God, the one who was, even frombefore the beginning.
Whatever you and I know to bethe beginning, which we know

(31:15):
that in the beginning, God, inthe beginning was God.
And in the beginning of in ourbeginning, God created the earth
after he created the heavensand before he created the

(31:36):
heavens.
God just was.
God is eternal.
So that means God was beforethe beginning.
If God created the beginning, that means he was before the
beginning.
Come on, somebody, talk to me.
If he created the beginning, that means he was before the

(31:58):
beginning.
Before the foundations ofanything we know.
Before anything you havelearned.
Whatever that is for you, whatever you believe to be true,
before that was God.

Speaker (32:20):
Alright.
So and I don't want to get toowe we already at like 30
minutes, right?

Speaker 1 (32:29):
So, but guys, the awareness level that I have
gained even from back in thosedays when I was younger, where I
am now, what I see, that sameword of God that is unchanging.

(32:49):
It's the same word of God thatI used to hear growing up, it's
the same word of God that Ipreach today.
It didn't mean as much to mewhen I was younger.
Because I hadn't gained thelevel of awareness that I needed
to yet.

Speaker (33:07):
As a child, you thought as a child, but now as you
grow, as you get older, yourawareness ought to grow.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
It's supposed to grow.
And as your awareness levelgrows, I need to encourage
somebody today.
Moving into 2026, as yourawareness level grows, you need
to grow with it.
As your awareness level grows, you need to grow with it.

(33:47):
Because just because we'reaware of something doesn't mean
we're gonna do something aboutit.
Alright?
Just because somebody knowswhat's right from wrong, people
still choose in wrong every day.

Speaker (34:12):
I'm speaking to somebody right now.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
I feel I feel I I feel I see somebody in the
spirit right now.
Just because you know what youshould be doing doesn't mean
you're gonna do it, does it now?
We we've all been there.
So just because I have anincreased level of awareness,

(34:35):
that does not mean that I'mgoing to accept the increased
level of responsibility.
But I'm here to tell you goinginto 2026, it is time to accept
the increased level ofresponsibility and the increased
level of accountability.

Speaker (34:53):
That is where your growth comes from.
That's where your growth comesfrom.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
You want to be a better person, you want to be
the best version of yourself, the best version of yourself
does not come from you stayingwhere you're comfortable.
The version of you that Godwants you to be, which is who
you truly are.
Not you don't, you know, allright now, I don't want to do

(35:23):
this right now.
But you finding yourself is notwho God wants you to be.

Speaker (35:29):
That's self, that's flesh.
Oh Lord help me.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
I often say that God is making me into the person
that my wife and my family needme to be.
The person that they need me tobe is the one who God is making
me, and I can only grow intothat person.

(36:04):
One, once I gain the level ofawareness to know, all right,
this is what I need to be doing, and then now accepting that
responsibility.
I accept it, and now it's timefor me to carry it out.
So going into 2026, family,we're just about done here.

(36:29):
We're crossing over again.
I don't know if this will bethe last episode, the last
chronicle for the year.
All I know is we're crossingover.

Speaker (36:41):
And as that happens, as that happens, your awareness
has grown all year long.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
I don't know what needs to happen for somebody to
make that change.
I don't know what needs tohappen for somebody to finally
say, okay, Lord, here I am.
I don't know what needs, what, what, what needs to happen.
I often hear my pastor sing asong.

(37:14):
It says, Too late, too late.
Mercy gone now.
If I would have known, oh Lord,if I would have known, I would
have prayed.
If I would have known, I wouldhave read my word.
If I would have known, I wouldhave listened to you when you

(37:34):
were calling.
Bible says, seek the Lord whilehe may be found.
If I had known, Lord, I wouldhave sought you while you were
here to be found, while you werecalling me.
Song says, You're calling myname to come into your arms to
be safe from fear and harm.
Knowing this, I knew this, butI still chose to go my own way.

(38:00):
And you still say, you say thatI'm yours.
I or better yet, you say that Iam he, he who supplies my every
need.
And Lord, I still hear youcalling my name.
I still hear you calling myname.

(38:21):
How many times does it take forme to learn?
How many times must I goagainst his will?

Speaker (38:39):
And yet I still turn around and do the things I
shouldn't do.
Y'all know that song.
But I belong to you.
Come on, we belong to him.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
And he's calling us.
He's calling us.
If you don't get anything fromthis message, I need you to
understand that God is callingyou, He's calling you into
awareness, He's calling youthrough His grace every single
day.
Big shout out to my sister,Minister Crystal Blackwood, who

(39:14):
came and preached for us on youSunday last week.
Came and preached for us andpreached a powerful message
about grace.
Grace.
God's grace.
Grace that can pardon andcleanse.
With God's grace was the topic.

(39:38):
And that's that's the grace ofGod over our lives, brothers and
sisters.
It's the grace of God.
For unto us a child is born.
For unto us that son, the sonof God was given.
The one who was, the one whois, the one who is to come.

(40:00):
In the beginning was he.
Jesus was from the beginning.
In the beginning was Jesus.
And the word Jesus was withGod, and Jesus was God.
From the beginning, from thevery foundation of the world.
That grace, that grace was inmind.

(40:26):
God knew we couldn't do itourselves.
And so he came for us.
He was born.
He came.
And his name is now calledwonderful.
His name is Counselor.
His name is the mighty God.
His name is the everlastingFather.
His name is the Prince ofPeace.
He's my redeemer.

(40:48):
He's my Lord.
He's my God.
He's my savior.
And the grace of God isbestowed upon me each and every
single day.
And I'm grateful.
I'm grateful.
So, brothers, sisters, those ofyou who believe, those of you
who do not believe, I'm here totell you that God loves you.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
