Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the Horn Auto
Center Studios Chris Bennett and
the Morning Brew.
Good morning, it's the MorningBrew with Chris.
Who's this?
Hey?
Good morning, chris, it's JD.
Jd Pepper, our fire marshalwith the Timber Mesa Fire
Department.
Do you have a fire marshalminute for us today?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yeah, buddy, hey, you
know what?
Haven't been able to call inand talk to everyone since, I
think right before the 4th ofJuly, so we were able to do the
fireworks.
It always comes down to the thelast minute there really of the
day to know if we're going tobe able to shoot I mean.
So a lot of stuff goes intothat planning, but I hope it.
Uh, oh, I hope it went wentwell for everybody.
(00:37):
Hope you enjoyed the show thatwe put on.
Uh, so I want to talk about alittle bit of weather, hopefully
today.
I know we got a little bit ofrain last night, but I think
today we're going to startgetting that real monsoonal
weather pattern is going to comein.
I'm really confident of that.
We had a fire yesterday that wasstarted by lightning.
So this is kind of the contextof my call this morning.
(00:58):
We had a lightning strike twodays ago.
It was down in the canyon.
It was about two miles south, southwest of the Sierra Pines or
the Farnbrook area.
It was actually about a milesouth of the Farnbrook area and
our partners at the US ForestService, the Towers this lady
(01:19):
that works up in the Towers.
She's a wonderful lady.
She's been doing it for 30years and saw the puff of smoke
yesterday afternoon somewherearound two o'clock.
We were able to, after a littlebit of triangulation and
coordinating, we Timber Mesa, the prevention division we were
able to put up our drone and wewere able to locate that fire
(01:41):
because the wind had come in andknocked the column down, so the
wind was down in the canyon, but we were still able to get up
above it and find it with thedrone and we were able to direct
resources in it.
The US Forest Service, alongwith our crews, was able to go
out there and put that fire outbefore it spread.
So what I would like everybodyto do we've got this storm
(02:03):
coming in.
Lightning's happening.
Look, as soon as you see anytype of smoke coming up from our
areas, give us a call.
We have a couple green wasteareas out here east of town that
you might see some smoke in.
You know that's okay, they'redesigned to do that the pellet
plant.
(02:23):
They have a little bit of smokethat comes up every now and
then, but if you see stuff outin our areas that surround our
town you see some smoke outthere today, tomorrow please
call us.
The sooner we can get in onthat, the sooner we can knock
that out, and I just appreciatethe partnership that the
community's had over the pastseveral months and you're
(02:46):
helping us do a job and you'requite honestly helping save our
mountain communities.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Heck.
Yes, if you see something, seeany smoke, call 911 immediately.
Jd.
Big shout out to everyoneinvolved in Timber Mesa Fire
Department for putting that fireout yesterday.
That was just.
That was amazing.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
You bet you know
we've had a couple the fuel
mitigation thing for folks atyour home is really important or
past work.
You know you can still do thatwork, but you know let's try to
do that work in the fall.
We had that great big housefire last week.
That was real touch and go, putout a lot of heat, a lot of
energy, a lot of embers andflame.
(03:27):
So we were able to get that oneout as well without that
spreading to the forest.
And that's just because, again, folks are really being Johnny
on the spot with this stuff.
They're calling us and we'reable to get there and get into
action really quick and do whatwe do well.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
So thank you for that
absolutely thank you for
everything you guys do, and atthe timber mesa fire department
and all our first responders andfirefighters out there.
You are all heroes.

this year, not 50 yet.
Speaker 4 (05:59):

, Chris.
You're ruining the whole thing,Okay you know what I'm turning
65.
You let it sit out there.
You don't have to say you knowI'm 45 or I'm 50.
Just don't protest against it.
Let the rumors spread.
And then everybody's oh my God,he's so impressive, how can he
look that good at 50?
How can he look that good?

The horse racing jockeys inPeru.
They raised money for charity.
I think everybody should dothis by racing without their
horses and they're in the gates.
(08:34):
They open up the gates, justlike, and then they line up at
the starting gates, all thoselittle jockeys, and then they
sprint down the track and it'sreally cool.
The racing fans loved it andthey raised a ton of money.
And then the other one that'sgoing viral.
You have to look up.
It's a woman near Calgary,canada.
She went golfing for the veryfirst time.
She's a young gal, really cute, guess get this.
(08:55):
She got a hole in one.
It happened on the fourth holeand her first ever par three.
She hits the ball and it goes.

the hole.

to buy a lottery ticket.

all and I can't pronounce her
last name.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
I don't know if that
would be a blessing or a curse
your first time golfing ever toget a hole-in-one.
I don't know if that would likeruin golf for you or if you
would just become obsessed andbecome a really good golfer.
Speaker 5 (09:42):

good golfer?
Yeah and yeah because golf.
I'll tell you what it.
