Hello friend and welcome to the Other World Podcast! We are currently doing a Bible study on the book of Ephesians. I challenge you to read the Bible everyday! I hope you take on the challenge to read the Bible and know God’s word for yourself!
Today we are going to be reading through Ephesians chapter 5:1-21!
Does it matter who I am friends with?
“Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partners with them;” —Ephesians 5:6-7
It is important that we are not partners with the sons of disobedience—basically anyone who does not follow and obey Jesus. Don’t let them influence your life. Don’t be friends with them. Don’t follow them. Maybe this sounds harsh but it is important.
The people you surround yourself with, the people you follow, the friends you have will change you. Good or bad they will influence you to be more like them.
There is this saying that you are the 5 or 10 people you are friends with or are around.
If the people you are around truly love Jesus and are reading the Bible and are running after the call God has on their lives then that will influence you and help you run after God.
If you are friends with ungodly people whether they say they are Christian’s or not, if they are not obeying God’s word and do not hold it as holy or they like sinning then that will influence you in their ways. Like this friend of mine lies all the time so maybe it’s not that bad. They may even say they are Christian so…maybe it’s okay? Maybe I can lie. NO. No no no.
What does the Bible say? The Bible needs to be our source of truth and the foundation we build our lives upon. We need to live by every word of God. Not the opinion of man.
Be careful who you follow. Be careful who you are friends with. It really does matter.
