Definition: All-Sufficient One, Lord God Almighty
Pronunciation: el shad-di
In the Bible: El Shaddia is written in the Old Testament where it is mentioned 7 times. El Shaddi was first used in Genesis 17:1.
We meet God as El Shaddi in Genesis 17 where God reveals Himself to Abram. In this chapter God makes a covenant (a promise) with Abram.
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life.
