Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, friends, have
you ever been so focused on
what's next, what is the nextlaunch for your business, or the
next bed that you're going toput in your kid's room Like, how
are you going to rearrange thatthing now that they're bigger,
right?
And so focused on whatever itis that you know is coming that
(00:23):
you're distracted from what Godhas for you right now?
You've forgotten to payattention to what is right in
front of you.
I do this more often than I'dlike to admit and, honestly, I'm
in a season right now where Ihave been doing that.
And isn't that funny the waythat God works, where he just is
like, hey, that thing that I'mhelping you get through, why
(00:46):
don't you tell some other peopleabout that, right?
So that is what we're going tobe talking about.
We're going to be talking aboutlooking up and staying focused
on the mission that God has foryou right now, in this season,
in your home, in your businessand with the people around you.
So we're going to read John 4,35.
It says you know the sayingfour months between planting and
(01:10):
harvest.
But I say, wake up and lookaround.
The field are already ripe forharvest.
And so this is right.
After Jesus had spoken with theSamaritan woman.
The disciples have come backand he is using this moment to
teach them.
The time for sharing the gospelis now, even no matter how busy
(01:33):
you are or how many diapers youhave to change or any of those
things.
The gospel is important and itis the most important thing that
believers are called to do Now.
It doesn't look the same foreverybody in every season, and
it shouldn't.
If you are, you know you've gotlittles at home.
It doesn't look the same ifyou're a single man who can go
(01:56):
out and do different things,right?
So, my friend, don't bediscouraged when I'm telling you
that the gospel is importantnow.
Remember that God has calledyou to the season that you're in
with your family, as well ascalled you that the gospel is
important now.
Remember that God has calledyou to the season that you're in
with your family, as well ascalled you to the Great
Commission.
They're not exclusive.
They work together.
So we're going to figure outhow to get that into your life
in this season.
(02:17):
So that is what we're talkingabout.
And how does this really applyto us as mompreneurs, right?
So we are moms with young kidsand we're running businesses.
We've got all of these thingsthat God has called us to.
He's called you to be themother that you are, he's called
you to be the business ownerthat you are, and he has also
(02:38):
called you to be one of hischildren that is on fire for the
gospel.
So we are part of that missionthere's just no way around that
and it is a glorious, wonderfulmission that we get to be a part
of and that you yourself havethe ability to be a part of in a
way that other people don't.
Let's talk about your children,right?
(02:58):
Your children are your firstdisciples.
Well, maybe not your first.
You're the first persondiscipling them, at the very
least, and so thatresponsibility is huge and so
important and should not beforgotten.
You are the person that theyare getting all of their
information for from, and I'veheard it in the past that
(03:21):
usually, when someone hearssomething first, that's what
they believe it's the hardestthing to remove from their brain
, right?
So if you want them to begetting good information,
information about Jesus, information of a solid
foundation of Christ, then youwant that information to be
(03:41):
coming from you and not from theworld.
So you are part of this missionby being the first leader to
Christ that your kids have.
It is so important and soamazing that we've been blessed
to be able to do this.
Let's talk about the next thing.
Right, your business.
This is a vehicle for gospelimpact, even if you're not
(04:02):
necessarily a ministry vehiclefor gospel impact, even if
you're not necessarily aministry, right, and you're not
just talking about Jesus all thetime.
Your actions, reactions, theway that you conduct yourself
and you conduct your business isa gospel vessel.
Right, you are a Christian andeverywhere you go is a part of
the kingdom, and so the peoplearound you will see that and God
(04:24):
will give you the opportunitiesto share with the people that
you serve.
Do not forget that yourbusiness is part of your mission
, is part of the GreatCommission.
So, even if that's you get todo like this and you're talking
to people directly about Jesus,or if you are an electrician
which I don't think any of myaudience is, but maybe you are
(04:45):
right, you're an electrician, which I don't think any of my
audience is, but maybe you areright, you're an electrician.
Or you make cups and sell them,or earrings, or whatever that
looks like for you, you arestill on mission for Jesus
through that business.
So your audience, your clients, and how you write your content,
how you show up online, theseare the harvest fields that God
has given you.
(05:06):
Right now.
We live in such an interestingtime where it's not just the
person that you meet in thegrocery store, it's the person
that you connect with on Zoom orgo to a summit with, or serve
and sell the tea that you growin your backyard to.
These are your mission fields.
These are the people that Godhas placed in your life because
(05:28):
they haven't.
He hasn't placed them inanybody else's Well, maybe it's
not, but he put them in yourlife for a reason and that is
important and that is serious.
We often think that evangelismis a big formal thing, but God
invites us to plant seeds andgather fruit in daily
conversations, consistentlybeing encouraging, having
(05:49):
integrity in our business andbeing intentional in our
parenting.
This is such a big deal, butdistractions are so easy to.
They're everywhere.
Right, our phones aredistractions.
Our businesses can be adistraction.
They're important and they'regreat, but there's always a
million things that we could bedoing for our business and we
(06:10):
can allow that to take away fromall of the important things
that God has already given us toTotally for planning.
Planning is important as anentrepreneur, as a mom, as a
person who lives on earth.
Having a plan can be a verygood thing and it can be a
strength.
But even good things can be bad.
They can be distractions.
(06:31):
They can be not for right now.
If they're pulling you awayfrom finding out what God is
doing for you right now, thenthey're not for you at this
moment.
This four more months thinkingthat came from the verse that we
read right.
Thinking like I'll share when Ihave more time, I'll decipher
my kids when they're a littlebit older, I'll be more
(06:53):
intentional in my business.
The next milestone I hit.
That is not the way that Jesushas asked us to live.
He said look up, the mission isnow, the harvest is here.
So I want you to ask yourselfwhere are you putting things off
that God has already called youto engage with?
(07:13):
That's my question for you, myfriend.
Look into your life, look andsee what is happening with you
right now and say am I allowingmyself to be distracted, to be
discontent, to be too worriedabout the future, to engage in
what God has already called meto?
And I want you to give that tothe Lord.
(07:35):
Ask Him to help you remove it.
He's there.
He promises to always be withus.
He's giving us a wisdom as weask.
So go to the one who wants tohelp you.
That's the God of the universe,my friend.
So let's talk about a couple ofpractical ways that you can look
up in this season.
(07:55):
So, like I said a minute ago, this is in your mindset.
We're going to trade thatsomeday mentality, like I'll do
it at some point when the nextthing is hit, but instead say,
lord, where can I serve youtoday?
Where can I be on mission foryou today, being led by the
(08:15):
spirit each and every day andeach and every moment?
Like that is the mission.
We're not promised tomorrow,we're not promised next year,
we're not promised that ourbusinesses will continue to like
be around, but we are told thatGod is always with us.
So let's leave.
Leave, oh my goodness, I'msorry.
(08:36):
Let's live our lives in such away where we're being spirit led
in the moment that we're in.
So trade someday for beingspirit led right and practice
contentment.
Contentment or being discontentcan really ruin your mission,
(08:58):
your focus.
Because if you're just lookingokay if I could just make more
money, or okay if I could justlive in that other house, or if
okay if I could just haveanother kid, or if these kids
would just listen to me.
I wish my kids listened likethose kids listened, or whatever
it is that is causing you tonot be enjoying your life at the
moment and some things are hard, like I get that.
(09:18):
But what I'm thinking, talkingabout is letting yourself go
down these rabbit holes of what,if, what, if, what, if I wish,
I wish, I wish I had somethingelse.
So practicing contentment andthanking the Lord for the things
that you do have because, asyou are grateful for those
things, your heart will turn.
It's hard to be grateful anddiscontent at the same time.
(09:42):
So just say thank you.
Thank you for the things thatyou have and where you're at.
It is really amazing whatblessings we have each and every
day.
So practicing contentment canreally switch that mindset into
being able to be spirit led andfocused on what God has for you
in this moment.
So that's in your personalmindset.
(10:03):
Then the next way to practicallydo this in your home with your
kids we talked about are thatyou.
You are their first disciple-er.
Yeah, that's right.
I think that's right.
So let's talk about somepractical ways that you can be
intentional with them.
You're praying with your kidsat times that make the most
sense, right?
Just use things that make sense, like right before you eat a
(10:25):
meal, right before you go to bed, right before somebody leaves
for work, right when you guysget home Any of those things.
When you see an ambulance orwhatever those things look like.
Wherever you can fit prayerinto your day, just make it part
of your routine so that theyknow that they can be talking to
God all the time.
And if there's any othermoments in the day where you can
like say let's pray for thatperson, let's pray for this
(10:47):
situation, try to be intentionalwith those as well.
That's something that I'mtrying to do right now.
We do the, you know, before bed, before my husband leaves for
work, before meals, like thoseare great, but I want my son to
know that at any point he cantalk to God.
At any point, god is there forhim, and so in the car we can
say, yeah, let's pray for that,or hey, is that?
(11:09):
He's still little?
So like I'm not doing a ton ofit yet, but I really want to be
intentional in that and so dothat.
Disciple them also through yourtone and your presence and your
priorities, right?
So, god, if you read theGospels, jesus, he was stern
when he needed to be stern, buthe was also very loving and kind
(11:32):
whenever people needed it.
So you know your children andyou know when you're being too
harsh and you know when theyneed a little bit more, right?
And so you're going to disciplethem through that tone, through
the way you deal withdiscipline and whatever that
looks like for your family.
And so I would just sayremember the gospels and
(11:57):
remember Jesus as you do thosethings, the way you talk, the
way you react to situations, you're going to disciple them
through your presence.
Are you paying attention tothem?
Are you focused on themwhenever you're supposed to be
focused on them?
Are you distracted byeverything else around them?
Because if they don't feel likeyou think they're important,
(12:17):
then why would they listen toyou?
And I have to tell myself that, too, he will see God through the
lens that he sees me and myhusband, and so we want to make
sure that we are present withhim when we're with him.
So, and then disciple himthrough your priorities.
Let him know that he'simportant and that you show up
(12:40):
for him when you say you willand your yes is yes and your no
is your no, and that you arebeing you know.
You are discipling them throughletting him learn that you know
when God says yes and God saysno, like those are the things,
that there are rules, there areboundaries in life, and so that
you are willing to love himenough or love them enough to
(13:03):
have those priorities, havethose boundaries and to teach
them as they move forward, everything that we do as parents
is a gospel.
You know, possibility, like toshare the gospel Sorry, I said
that weird, but so that's whatI'm talking about.
So you can disciple yourchildren very practically with
the way you act, the way youreact, the way you talk, praying
(13:25):
with them, reading the Biblewith them, just these little
things.
It doesn't have to be a bigformal discipleship study, right
?
No, calm down, I'm tellingmyself too.
All right, so also in yourbusiness, share your faith
through your services, throughyour story, through your values
and how you treat people.
Like we talked about earlier.
(13:45):
You may not have a very missionlike gospel mission forward
business If you're makingearrings or you're selling goat
milk soap or something of thatnature, like you're not
preaching the gospel, right.
But you can share your story, share your values, show people
(14:05):
Christ through the way you treatthem, through your customer
service, the way you act Like weall talk about, like
Chick-fil-A Everybody lovesChick-fil-A, but they're not
talking about Jesus wheneverthey give you a chicken sandwich
.
But we know that they are aChristian run organization
because of the way their values, their service and how they
treat people and so like that isa good example of you know, a
Christian organization that isnot, you know, like a church.
(14:28):
So just be aware of the waythat you are serving.
So just be aware of the waythat you are serving and then,
yeah, so, and then let's see.
God isn't asking you to wait forthe perfect season to be on
mission.
He has given you the missionnow and it is beautiful and it
is wonderful, and it is in yourhome, it's in your email list,
(14:50):
it's in your daily work, it's inyour children.
Your mission field is righthere.
You don't need this giantplatform to be powerful.
You need to look up and say yesto what God has, god is already
doing and what God has calledyou to right now.
Now, my friend, what I wouldlike you to do because we're all
about action here at thePeaceful Mom and your is to
(15:13):
spend five minutes today askingGod where is the harvest you
want me to see today?
What is it that I need to bepaying attention to right now?
And ask Him to bring it to yourmind, and ask Him to help you
figure out how to act on that.
What does that look like foryou?
Because it looks different foreach and every one of us.
(15:33):
My friend, god has called youto something big.
We are all part of the GreatCommission and I am so excited
to be a part of it with you, myfriend.
All right, I'll talk to youguys next time.
