to another episode of the Philly Pulse, Your City Sports Speed.
I'm your host, show stays. I go along with my
co host Sean Lockner over there and super Bowl fifty
nine in the books, my friend and our first are
inaugural year doing this podcast. We get to talk about
a super Bowl championship in Philadelphia. Man, how cool was that?

I mean, maybe we're the good luck shown.

It's been a wild ride, wild season. I just did.
I had to reshoot something we're talking about. Hurts's only
inter threw one against Dallas in garbage time. But other
than that, the Tampa Bay game that seems like a
lifetime ago. How bad that game was and how you
weren't no one really knew what was going on with
the team because I was one with it just didn't

show up. I know Davante and aj and Lane didn't play,
but I mean they were down twenty four to nothing
before they ran their tenth play. It was like a mess.
And defensively, they were playing off the receiver like it's
just he's going to do this all year and we're
going to see soft coverage and wow, I that's why
those sports man, it's a great it's the great reality

TV show that they go from thirtieth last year struggling
out of the gate. Uh Jalen hurts nine turnovers in
the first four games. They take it at first when
the schedule came out one. I don't know why they're
playing in a different continent. I didn't like that, but
they have their buy early. I like it when it's
late and talking to players, they like it later in
the season or in the middle. But in the beginning

you get then you got a long stretch and they
didn't get that first round by so but it was
the perfect time for it because they needed to regroup
and they did and they didn't come out great against
the Browns, and then that became a mess. And you
know with they won by like four, you know that
blood Miles gar blocks a kick at the end of

the half. It was one of those like, oh, you know,
they can't get this right against the Browns. They threw
that bomb to aj to seal the game, which was
a risky call. Sirianni shaves his head, mouse off to
the people, brings his kids up. I mean, it was
a whole debacle, even though they won, and since then
right buttoned up.

I mean, there was I could tell you if I
told you in the beginning of the year that this
is hell how it was going to go, you would
never believe me.

how they start off Nick Sirianni about to lose his job,
the Brandon grand saga. I mean, you would be like,
no freaking way, no way, no way.

I told you they're they're like And I did a
piece about six weeks ago that it's like the most
soap opera slash dysfunctional team that it works for. It
just works, maybe because it's just so talented. You know,
Syrianni's doing this. A. J. Brown's doing this reading books
and pissing off the quarterback, Brandon Graham stepping in with

M'm standing outside Novacare last night with the helicopter down.
He's just got He's got his bear claw wrapped around
the Super Bowl trophy.

It was just the great thing about this game. I mean,
we'll get to the game, but like even yesterday, like
just the whole entire experience of it.

I mean I told you when the Eagles won the
Super Bowl, their first one, I was still living in
Minneapolis and I had to work the next day, so
I didn't get the chance to experience, you know, the
callers the next day. I didn't get to experience the
cameras of the people waiting for the plane to arrive.
I totally forgot that they do the press conference in

the morning with the coach.

And the quarterback.

I mean, there was so much that I was able
to take advantage of and are at work.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I mean, my bos just being.

Like, hey, if your schedule, like if you've got to
come in a little later tomorrow tomorrow, like so be it.
And you know, it was just it was awesome. We
were able to experience it. We were able to have
a great time. I really wanted to go down the
Broad Street. I tried to get.

I was trying to get her brothers, Michelle's brothers to

And it's just I'm going to pick up the kids
on Thursday morning out to Minnesota.

Their mom, you know, it was great.

Their mom was texting me throughout the game and having
you know, the kids text and get on FaceTime. And
we were really hoping like, hey, there might be a chance,
knowing how the weather is and knowing like Philly wants
to go.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Like they're not going to have this on a rainy day.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
So sure enough, the best day is Friday, and it
just so happens it's Brooks' birthday. So my son is
going to the Eagles parade for his birthday.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
That's awesome, that's really cool.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah, that is a good day.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Oh you know what I did go to, Well, it's
a lot different. I went to the desk Villanova on
twenty eighteen on a Friday. It was it was kind
of a Friday. Everyone's kind of being a better movie
because it's Friday. I don't know, kind of it was good.
I like the Friday idea. I do like the Friday idea.

It gives a city a chance to I mean they're
already I mean, my plants located in Westville, and they're

the championship game. I'm just sitting on his train, like

four to nothing and I was like, oh man, there's
never been a shutout in the Super Bowl and if
the Eagles can pull that off.

No, the Chiefs under Mahomes have never been shut out
through three quarters and they almost where they scored at
the very end of the third cause like damn, forty
three seconds left.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Oh, I mean, it was just from the Do you care.

About those goal with garbage touchdown? I really didn't, But
I there has been some little bit of scuttle but
about it that people were I knowd I'm like, I'm like,
you can't be annoyed.

I think the annoyance was directed, and I'm like, this

wrong with that. Whatever he's doing, he did it well,
even took advantage of the of the backup they wanted to. Also, Look,
my friend is a Patriots fan. Now they've had their success,
but in eighty five, the Bears stopped in forty six
to three, and he said, and the Bears made sure

and then you know what, the Patriots scored the first
three points of that game. By the way, he said,
it was humiliation, and there was something to that humiliation.
Humiliation means something, he was I wish you guys would
have kept it like forty to six, and like it
didn't bother me. I still get the ring, you know
what I mean? Like, look, look, everyone knows, just like
putting an asterisk next to everyone knows. You know, Bartley

broke the record, it would have been seventeen games. You know,
OJ broke twenty fourteen games. I don't need to see
the I mean, I don't need to, but it would
have been nice forty to six shut out. I would
have really loved course, so shut out because the Chiefs

Eagles had my homes running for his life. He did

his pressure achieved. He was seeing ghosts all over the place,

rushing things and guys were dropping balls in that one

he could have gone for a long time he was.

I worried. I'm paranoid and scared of death about everything.

I felt really good going into halftime.

think Bartley got stopped. But second down wasn't easy like
they seemed to. This is what you should be doing
with the way they the talent they have, you know,
was one of those AJ just right across, right across,
out of his route and he's wide open, boom catch, touchdown.
I mean, I think it looked pretty It looked pretty easy,

and on the bombs like Jaylen's Dayden's deep balls were phenomenal.
The only one I saw was when AJ and the
coach started going out of it. But when he was,
it was a I think it was a fourth down.
It was a weird throw. Wasn't back shoulder, it wasn't
over the top. It was like on a line. And
but other than that, he hit Dotson and Dotson got
behind his guy. Davonte got behind this guy. AJ had

but I thought that they made it up with the
goutter call, So I was like, all right, they're even
because I thought that was But I mean his throws
were great. He was great, I thought. And the runs
he in the third and fourth quarter he had sixteen

made a mistake. Other than that, I thought it was
near perfect.

DeVante Smith and Jalen Hurts kind of like conversing on
the sidelines and them hugging and Davante like just breaking
down in tears and yeah, about like how this year
has been a hell of a ride and how they
got each other's back and just.

And seeing the interaction like Jalen's a leader, you know,
I don't, is it totally? And I also with coming
when apparently Brandon, you know, Graham going to him and

I mean, we had Carson and it seemed like when
you tried to tell him one thing, he wasn't receptive
and then he wanted out. I mean, yeah, he's a
he's an athlete. He's a competitor. Jalen is definitely going
to have as his moments of where he but might
not want to do something. But I got to tell you, man,
the Eagles got something going good, really really good. They

built through the line.

what he gets Doug Peterson and we're like, what the

Out of it first one, the whole entire situation with
Carson Wentz after that could have been disastrous. We wanted
to get rid of Howie it stuck with it, Bunny.

I look probably have done one of the greatest trades
that Carson wentz trade.

Well what he did with what he got and you know,
not not hanging on to not you know, guys don't
want to admit they made a mistake. But he was awful.
He was the worst quarterback in the league that year.

gonna win that game. The way they did it was unbelievable.

I've had a hole. I've had a wound for two
years being at that game and how that ended two
years ago, and I'm forgetting the Bradbury call, which you know,
we could have turned that thing around. It was a hole.
But I just think the Chiefs get a lot of
that bullshit. But just the whole way, that whole thing
the field was slippery. I know it's slippery for both teams,
would affect the Eagles a little bit more, and that

one hurt and to actually have that almost replayed like
a do over. And now looking back, and I said
this to you before, who would you rather play? I
would have rather played the Bills going in, but knowing
if they want, I would love to say that you
beat the Chiefs because you knocked off Brady and that dynasty.
You knocked off the Chiefs and the fact that they

did this again two years later. I had to wait
two years, But I've always had that an empty spot
when I think of the Eagles when I think of it.
That's why I was so I was scared of death
that this was going to happen again. I'm like, I can't,
I can't. That was too That was rough. So I
feel I feel a lot better, let's put it that way.
And I'm still I'm gonna go with this one. How

I had to do a post game show and a pregame.

was freaking great.

I mean, it was honestly Joe, I'm gonna probably say
this one. I think the last one. I had younger
kids as well. I was in Minnesota as much recap,
and you know what I wanted to watch. You know

bit older. We're preparing for them to come in here.
And I had a chance to just like watch everything
up until like three o'clock in the morning. I was
up till three o'clock in the morning just watching Wait
a minute, this sounds like, yep, this is a rerun.

It's pretty fun. The next day watching everyone, I mean
hearing everyone, you know, singing not your praise and my
praise with the team's praises, because you feel like it's
part of you. Especially listen. I don't get annoyed when guy,
I really don't. I don't get pissed. I just try
to I listen. I kind of shake my head because
are they really watching the same stuff we're watching or

some of the stuff they come up with and then
what they've questioned And there are some people that straighten
them out as well. With the Syrianna look at his
record and all he does is win and they love
the blah blah blah blah blah. It's not maybe the
run prototypical coach. But and you know, to a man,
I've heard that. You know, he went in and closed
closed door meeting, apologized for embarrassing and being a distraction

at the Cleveland game, and the players responded to it
because they thought that, well, he took accountability, So you know,
we better be accountable for whatever everything we do.

Yeah, that's that's the biggest thing about this sport is
taking accountability and you gain respect doing that.

haven't seen him look like that all year.

nine in the books, my friend and our first are
inaugural year doing this podcast. We get to talk about
a super Bowl championship in Philadelphia. Man, how cool was that?

It's been a wild ride, wild season. I just did.
I had to reshoot something we're talking about. Hurts's only
inter threw one against Dallas in garbage time. But other
than that, the Tampa Bay game that seems like a
lifetime ago. How bad that game was and how you
weren't no one really knew what was going on with
the team because I was one with it just didn't

show up. I know Davante and aj and Lane didn't play,
but I mean they were down twenty four to nothing
before they ran their tenth play. It was like a mess.
And defensively, they were playing off the receiver like it's
just he's going to do this all year and we're
going to see soft coverage and wow, I that's why
those sports man, it's a great it's the great reality

TV show that they go from thirtieth last year struggling
out of the gate. Uh Jalen hurts nine turnovers in
the first four games. They take it at first when
the schedule came out one. I don't know why they're
playing in a different continent. I didn't like that, but
they have their buy early. I like it when it's
late and talking to players, they like it later in
the season or in the middle. But in the beginning

you get then you got a long stretch and they
didn't get that first round by so but it was
the perfect time for it because they needed to regroup
and they did and they didn't come out great against
the Browns, and then that became a mess. And you
know with they won by like four, you know that
blood Miles gar blocks a kick at the end of

the half. It was one of those like, oh, you know,
they can't get this right against the Browns. They threw
that bomb to aj to seal the game, which was
a risky call. Sirianni shaves his head, mouse off to
the people, brings his kids up. I mean, it was
a whole debacle, even though they won, and since then
right buttoned up.

I mean, there was I could tell you if I
told you in the beginning of the year that this
is hell how it was going to go, you would
never believe me.

No, you can't make it up.

how they start off Nick Sirianni about to lose his job,
the Brandon grand saga. I mean, you would be like,
no freaking way, no way, no way.

I told you they're they're like And I did a
piece about six weeks ago that it's like the most
soap opera slash dysfunctional team that it works for. It
just works, maybe because it's just so talented. You know,
Syrianni's doing this. A. J. Brown's doing this reading books
and pissing off the quarterback, Brandon Graham stepping in with

M'm standing outside Novacare last night with the helicopter down.
He's just got He's got his bear claw wrapped around
the Super Bowl trophy.

It was just the great thing about this game. I mean,
we'll get to the game, but like even yesterday, like
just the whole entire experience of it.

I mean I told you when the Eagles won the
Super Bowl, their first one, I was still living in
Minneapolis and I had to work the next day, so
I didn't get the chance to experience, you know, the
callers the next day. I didn't get to experience the
cameras of the people waiting for the plane to arrive.
I totally forgot that they do the press conference in

the morning with the coach.

And the quarterback.

I mean, there was so much that I was able
to take advantage of and are at work.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I mean, my bos just being.

Like, hey, if your schedule, like if you've got to
come in a little later tomorrow tomorrow, like so be it.
And you know, it was just it was awesome. We
were able to experience it. We were able to have
a great time. I really wanted to go down the
Broad Street. I tried to get.

There to take me down, but they refuse.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
So did you try to get try to get.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
I was trying to get her brothers, Michelle's brothers to
take me.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
With all that, with all that whisky putting yourself.

Oh I was slurring where it's I had to have been.
I have to have been. I'm sure. I mean, you
know I still love them.

And it's just I'm going to pick up the kids
on Thursday morning out to Minnesota.

Their mom, you know, it was great.

Their mom was texting me throughout the game and having
you know, the kids text and get on FaceTime. And
we were really hoping like, hey, there might be a chance,
knowing how the weather is and knowing like Philly wants
to go.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Like they're not going to have this on a rainy day.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
So sure enough, the best day is Friday, and it
just so happens it's Brooks' birthday. So my son is
going to the Eagles parade for his birthday.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
That's awesome, that's really cool.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah, that is a good day.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Oh you know what I did go to, Well, it's
a lot different. I went to the desk Villanova on
twenty eighteen on a Friday. It was it was kind
of a Friday. Everyone's kind of being a better movie
because it's Friday. I don't know, kind of it was good.
I like the Friday idea. I do like the Friday idea.

It gives a city a chance to I mean they're
already I mean, my plants located in Westville, and they're

I got to the point where when it was thirty
four to nothing and I was like, oh man, there's
never been a shutout in the Super Bowl and if
the Eagles can pull that off.

No, the Chiefs under Mahomes have never been shut out
through three quarters and they almost where they scored at
the very end of the third cause like damn, forty
three seconds left.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Oh, I mean, it was just from the Do you care.

About those goal with garbage touchdown? I really didn't, But
I there has been some little bit of scuttle but
about it that people were I knowd I'm like, I'm like,
you can't be annoyed.

In right, but so but right, I'm just saying, like
I think the annoyance was directed, and I'm like, this
is why, this is why I just bound my head
on the on the desk. Sometimes when I hear what people,

out there, IF's gonna be like we're gonna hand off
turn flag.

He's not gonna come out and be like, absolutely not.

People all he wanted to make his numbers. Okay, what's
wrong with that. Whatever he's doing, he did it well,
even took advantage of the of the backup they wanted to. Also, Look,
my friend is a Patriots fan. Now they've had their success,
but in eighty five, the Bears stopped in forty six
to three, and he said, and the Bears made sure

and then you know what, the Patriots scored the first
three points of that game. By the way, he said,
it was humiliation, and there was something to that humiliation.
Humiliation means something, he was I wish you guys would
have kept it like forty to six, and like it
didn't bother me. I still get the ring, you know
what I mean? Like, look, look, everyone knows, just like
putting an asterisk next to everyone knows. You know, Bartley

broke the record, it would have been seventeen games. You know,
OJ broke twenty fourteen games. I don't need to see
the I mean, I don't need to, but it would
have been nice forty to six shut out. I would
have really loved course, so shut out because the Chiefs
they were putrid. I'm sorry like, like, I know the
Eagles had my homes running for his life. He did

not even pressure perceived. I still say the pressure perceived,
his pressure achieved. He was seeing ghosts all over the place,
mechanics were made, even some throws where he he was
rushing things and guys were dropping balls in that one
to Adams that I don't know what that was, but
he could have gone for a long time he was.

He wasn't sharp after the first couple of sacks at all.
He looked off all night. Worst game I've ever seen
him play.

I worried. I'm paranoid and scared of death about everything.

I felt really good going into halftime.

I felt pretty damn good going into half.

I thought, you know, okay, when they I'm sorry.

When bamb caught that ball in the first down, I
think Bartley got stopped. But second down wasn't easy like
they seemed to. This is what you should be doing
with the way they the talent they have, you know,
was one of those AJ just right across, right across,
out of his route and he's wide open, boom catch, touchdown.
I mean, I think it looked pretty It looked pretty easy,

and on the bombs like Jaylen's Dayden's deep balls were phenomenal.
The only one I saw was when AJ and the
coach started going out of it. But when he was,
it was a I think it was a fourth down.
It was a weird throw. Wasn't back shoulder, it wasn't
over the top. It was like on a line. And
but other than that, he hit Dotson and Dotson got
behind his guy. Davonte got behind this guy. AJ had

the back shoulder catch. The first offensive interference called was garbage,
but I thought that they made it up with the
goutter call, So I was like, all right, they're even
because I thought that was But I mean his throws
were great. He was great, I thought. And the runs
he in the third and fourth quarter he had sixteen
fourteen seventeen yard run and he looked fast. He looked

he looked like he did you know a couple of
years ago. He just thought Jalen, you know, calling the
shots and running the game. He had one interception, okay,
made a mistake. Other than that, I thought it was
near perfect.

I saw Schefter just put it out on X of
DeVante Smith and Jalen Hurts kind of like conversing on
the sidelines and them hugging and Davante like just breaking
down in tears and yeah, about like how this year
has been a hell of a ride and how they
got each other's back and just.

They were at Alabama together, they were exactly.

And seeing the interaction like Jalen's a leader, you know,
I don't, is it totally? And I also with coming
when apparently Brandon, you know, Graham going to him and

I mean, we had Carson and it seemed like when
you tried to tell him one thing, he wasn't receptive
and then he wanted out. I mean, yeah, he's a

to have as his moments of where he but might
not want to do something. But I got to tell you, man,
the Eagles got something going good, really really good. They

wanted to find emotional intelligence. And we're all like, yeah, okay,
what he gets Doug Peterson and we're like, what the

hell is this? And sure enough, what was it? Super Bowl?
Out of it first one, the whole entire situation with
Carson Wentz after that could have been disastrous. We wanted
to get rid of Howie it stuck with it, Bunny.

I look probably have done one of the greatest trades
that Carson wentz trade.

Well what he did with what he got and you know,
not not hanging on to not you know, guys don't
want to admit they made a mistake. But he was awful.
He was the worst quarterback in the league that year.

thirty three million dollar money cap hit. Sure, we'll deal

I put that thing out and show that they ended
up Davante. There was a there was a hand in
that move in the Davante A J. Brown maybe Bond

the field was slippery. I know it's slippery for both teams,
would affect the Eagles a little bit more, and that
