Speaker 1 (00:01):
Yeah, let the big dog handel again. Everybody. Welcome to
another episode of the Philly Pols, Your City Sports Beat
with Joe Staisak, Sean Lockner, Michael Warren. He'll be along
in just a minute. Special guest today, John Mars from
w from p h l Y Radio. We're gonna have
him on a few minutes talk about the Toush push on.
(00:22):
How you doing today, Bro, I'm good, man, I'm good. Yeah,
I'm really excited to have John on. You know, he's
been on Philly Philly. He's got his his show over
at PHL Y, so it's good.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
You know.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Obviously he's he had some words in regards to the
Tush push and how it was being portrayed, of what
was going on at the meetings and thinks of that interesting.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Well then let's let's I'm sorry, I mean, obviously, then
let's let him on mail what he has. I wrote
another piece on it today from what I gathered, and uh,
let's let's bring John Marks in from his show Philly Philly,
which does the podcast every day eight o'clock, eight o'clock.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
John, Yeah, eight o'clock in the morning. I think rate
before Anthony Gargana.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Oh, man, Johnny Marks from Philly, Philly. What's up, brother man?
How you doing? Welcome to the Philly Pauls. Good to
see about big dog. Are you doing? Mane up above
you like you know the Brady Bobby John.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
It's a pleasure meeting you, man. I've been listening to
you for years. I lived in Minnesota for about nine
and uh, there's times when you when you went left
the Fanatic and went to w ip you were. You
would stream on Twitter during commercial breaks and I'd always
I'd always chime in with you. So it's awesome to
(01:41):
finally meet you.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
Thanks Joe, I appreciate.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
That, Johnny Marks, how you doing? Power? And so I'll
talk to you awhile things going well? I heard, you
know because I listened. I listened to John Uh not
a great mood yesterday? Was that all touch push related?
Because you sound like you're in a better mood today
and you you're rocking with the show and we're gonna
get into the touchbush. But now I'm just kind of
busting your chops. How you doing that?
Speaker 5 (02:03):
Was that?
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Was?
Speaker 5 (02:04):
That was wife and child and me working from home.
You know, it's great when you don't have to commute
occasionally I do the show from from downstairs in my basement. Uh,
and they needed me to do it from home, which
is great, but you know, I got three maniacs running
around yelling about breakfast and making my wife.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
But you know how it is, man, So it's.
Speaker 5 (02:22):
Like I'm trying to get focused to do the show,
and you know, I got children, so.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
I missed those days. Real quick, tell you audience that
doesn't know since you left WIP, what have you been doing?
Speaker 5 (02:33):
Uh slowly financially draining my bank accounts and uh going
broke and getting in the in the marital. Uh. I'm
working now at phl Y. So phl Y was the
the first digital sports network.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
The first one was in Denver. Then they went to Phoenix,
and they went to Chicago. So Philly is now the
fourth market. They launched in Dallas back in September. So
think like sports radio BUD digitally right. So Anthony Anthony
has a daily show nine to eleven. We have sports
specific shows. So our Eagles show is is bo Wolf
(03:10):
and Zach Berman, Fran Duffy who worked for the Eagles
for many years, Jamie Lynch.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
So we have sports specific shows.
Speaker 5 (03:17):
Sixers, Kyle Nebeck, Devon, Derek Bodner, Flyers, brous Street Hockey.
So you know, we cover the spectrum of sports, all
four of them, the Union as well, but we do
it a little bit differently.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
So I'm doing it.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
I'm doing all the sports. I'm not focusing on one sport.
I'm kind of doing my show. It's an hour every day,
eight to nine am. You can see it on YouTube
wherever you get your podcasts, just search Philly, Philly with
John Marks.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
That's how you get it.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Man. Well, we appreciate you coming on. Man, it's been
a while, but and I appreciate uh, you know, I
saw your kick back to Diana Rassini on Twitter and
contacted youngest, like I could I can make something out
of this because I'm I'm I get her game, and
you obviously were onto it. You gave me a story.
I wrote it up, and then of course we thought
(04:01):
things were gonna happen yesterday and I didn't think they
were gonna hit twenty four and then it got tabled.
What do you know about what went on yesterday? Because
I just wrote another piece talking about what a sham
show that had to have band Now the Packers are
they're gonna change it now, so it doesn't look like
they're specifically targeting the Eagles play because they want to
go back to changing the rules. That means it covers.
(04:22):
It's like all encompassing, it's like a it's like a
loophole around it. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
So Raussini had said last week in her podcast, it
was almost like a throwaway line that she said that
the momentums building towards uh, the Toush push being banned,
and I called a BS and I guess, really, in hindsight,
she was on something. But I guess my point was
there's a zero percent chancer getting twenty four votes there.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Then that's what I said.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
You did say that, yeah, zero.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Percent chance, And I was right. But to your point, Joe,
that they're they're gonna they're gonna change because the Packers
come out and they say, well, we need to ban
this because of injuries and pace of play? Was it
one documented injury? Now, what's amazing?
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Not one?
Speaker 5 (05:04):
And it's amazing because the canned response just from coaches
even yesterday, like Matt Lafleur, he gave all the canned answers.
He said, oh, well, it's not a football play it's
really a rugby play and injury. And even if there
haven't been injuries, we're kind of looking ahead.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
How can you look ahead, doesn't haven't happened yet.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Football is an injury waiting to happen on any play.
Expect to see a major. There's a major injury every
week in a game.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
Yeah, it's pretty much you're gonna get hurt if you
play football. And they're trying to make it specifically about
the toush push. I mean, I think the reality is
and when Roger Goodell wants something done, for the most part,
things get done right.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
And it just feels like that then taking this off.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
The table to rewrite it, and Goodell even said yesterday, Hey,
if we write a new rule, it would be not
about the Eagles. It would be about you can't push
the offensive player from behind.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
So the other team does it other than the Bills occasionally.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
So yeah, to me, it sure seems like that they're
going to write it up to be able to get
it past. Uh. You know, it's it's amazing because Joe
and Sean, when you look at it, it is, you know,
like the Eagles and the Bills do it occasionally. There's
not one other team that is built to do it.
A they don't have a quarterback that wants to do it,
and B they don't have an offensive line that's built
(06:26):
to do it.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
None other team is going to is going to run this.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Type of a play right like they don't want The
quarterbacks don't want to do it. You think Lamar Jackson
wants to run a tush push. Oh, he wants to run,
but not the toush push. There's no other quarterback or
offensive line that it works for. So they're going to
make sure they get rid of it.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
I'm sorry real quick. What precedent is there that they
can say time out, let's we work, don't You have
to come prepared with your language and your proposal, and
if it doesn't hit this time, you're still supposed to vote.
Like the bylaws which I laid out in my thing
today say owners meeting in March doesn't say unless there's
more to talk about, you vote then to bring it
(07:05):
back next year, like they would have been safe for
another year. At least it does look like now the
NFL with Rogers said yesterday about maybe bringing back the
old one, and what Roger wants he gets because the
owners and he you know, they work together pretty much.
How did that happen? And how did anyone come up
with the number sixteen if there was actually no vote?
Speaker 5 (07:27):
Right, Well, it's like a straw poll, right, They're not
gonna be embarrassed and be like, oh I got voted down.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
All right, Well, I guess we got to move on. No,
they're not gonna move on.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
I mean, the reality is that the Eagles are really
the only team. And you can say the Bills because
they do it. But Josh Allen's too damn big, right,
Jalen Hurts is the perfect He's big, he's tall, but
he's not too tall, right, he can still get low
and we know the six hundred pounds squat and everything
like that.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
But so what are they gonna do if they ban this.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
They're gonna run a quarterback sneak without being pushed from behind,
and they're gonna be more successful to do that than
any other team in football. So, I mean, maybe they
won't have a ninety five percent success rate, what would
be eighty five percent? So it's not like you're gonna
be able to stop the Eagles in shortyard situation. So
it'll just be a quarterback sneak right, it's gonna be
the touch push exactly.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
And John, to your point, the Eagles are going to
still practice it because that's what they do. They practice
to be better at something that the league is not.
So you're absolutely right. It just it baffles me that
it's like we're having this conversation about a play. It's
just it's it's not sexy. And I think that's what
it really boils down to, is it's not sexy for
the NFL, and it think.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
If the other teams can't stop it, I think that's
their problem.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
And if so, if I was looking ahead to next
season and say like, okay, what's the potential problem of
the Eagles doing this because it's so unstoppable.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
What did Washington do in that NFC Championship game.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Well, you're at the one yard line and if the
Eagles score a touchdown, the game's over and they know it.
So what is the penalty for Washington jumping off sides
or trying time to snap or trying to call the fumble?
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Nothing right?
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Right? Change two inches?
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Right?
Speaker 5 (09:06):
So the Eagles could have a false start which sends
them back five yards.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
The Eagles could FuMB the fumble, the ball in the exchange,
which they use it. So there's there's.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
Every incentive in the world for the defensive team to
act a fool to try to stop the play. Now,
if every team says, you know what, we're gonna act
like idiots and we're gonna do this every time that
they get to the one yard line, that's bad for football.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
And I said, look, and I think that's what the
NFL is is. This has nothing to do with injury.
Speaker 5 (09:35):
That the NFL is looking at that and saying, hey,
like if I'm I didn't blame Washington for doing it,
the game's over if they score a touchdown there.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
So you're so desperate.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
So if there's no penalty for really doing that, you're
gonna have more teams to try to to try to
deal with it that way.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
And that's and that's a bad and that's a really
really bad look.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
The Rams were reapp and you remember when now close
the game Rams game got, Well, remember when Lane flinched
because she heard the other guy thought that the snap
count moved them back five yards. I had to kick
a field goal instead of scoring a touchdown there, which
would essentially have not made that game so close at
the end. Other teams. Yeah, they're trying to they're trying
(10:13):
to pull the Eagles off sides, they're trying to make
them flinch, stuff like that. But yes, Lulu plays made it.
Really that's not that is not good for football, and
it's the product. I get it. But baseball went got
rid of the shift and they cut things down and
it worked. Look, it worked. It's it's just a shame.
I think it's really born out of that that most
(10:35):
teams can't really stop it. So but I think you're
I think you're on something there now.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
And John, anything else sut of the meetings come out
that that sparked your interest with any of these rule
changes or anything like that.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
I think.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
I think the kickoff, I think that the moving the
kickoff touch back the thirty five yard line is really
really interesting. Is it enough to dissuade teams from kicking
kicking it out of the end zone?
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Right?
Speaker 4 (10:58):
The thirty wasn't enough. The thirty was like now teams
are still like now we don't want to return. Is
the thirty five enough? I think the forty.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Yeah, that's the thirty five.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
I think it's going to be a split.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
You'll see more returns, but you're not going to see
it where you're still going to have some teams that say,
and we'll take our chances at the thirty five rather
than than take the chance of of a of a
deeper return. And I also think you're now going to
start to see strategy of whoever's doing the kickoff, whether
it's the punter or whether it's your kicker.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Of trying to.
Speaker 5 (11:32):
Kick it higher and putting it maybe at the five
yard line in the corner.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
So strategically, I think it makes it interesting.
Speaker 5 (11:39):
I'll be curious to see if teams are are willing
because I mean, I still think more teams than not
will be willing to just give them the ball to
thirty five yard line and not worry about.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Anything any chance, because it does look like that I
don't want to get back to the Tousch push real quick.
Would you be shocked if it did not pass this year?
Speaker 5 (12:00):
I wouldn't be shocked because if there really was sixteen teams,
that means you need eight more votes. And one of
the other things I read you guys probably saw the
same thing was that twenty of the teams when they said, hey, listen,
who wants more information on all of this. Who wants
more information on injury? Who wants more information on this?
And I believe I read twenty teams said yes, we'd
(12:20):
like more information. Now the injury information is going to
be zero, So you could you could try to pretend
that it's like, oh, well, we're trying to get ahead
of it and look, okay, well, if you have Chris
Jones laying sideways on the line of scrimmage, he may
get injured, but that's then that's not a problem with
the play. So I think they're gonna I think it's
(12:42):
gonna get I think it's gonna get out lawed the
where you can't push an offensive player from behind. I
won't be shocked if it's not this year, but it's
going that. It's going that way, and he go's just
gonna do a regular quarterback steak and it'll be tough
to stop.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
What do you think about? Okay, should that has been
a very successful play for the You know, it's not
worst inten it's kind of like first and nine, But okay,
they're gonna figure out a way. They got a massive
offensive line still, a quarterback that's strong and built. Blah blah, blah,
that's fine. What do you think about what they've how
they've handled free agency? And I don't know. I think
(13:17):
it was a little bit of a shock to a
lot of folks out there. I didn't think it would
be stripped down as much. It sounds like Goddard's on
his way out after June first if yeah, Herani yesterday,
So that's going to be stripped down. I mean, the
course still going to be in place. They got value guys,
you know, one year guys that were good at some point,
but you know, have some issues and asterisks next to
(13:40):
their names when they come here. I know it's not over,
but what do you what do you think of how
this team is going to look next year? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (13:48):
The the Eagles are in the position now of if
you're an agent and the market's not there for your
player and you were hoping for a multi year deal
and it's like, man, it's just not.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
There's not a lot of interest in that. All right,
So what are we looking at now?
Speaker 1 (14:01):
All right? All right?
Speaker 4 (14:03):
What's a one year contract?
Speaker 5 (14:04):
And if you're a defensive player, if you're whoever, but
really on defense, because their offense is pretty much said.
If you're on defense, and seven sacks from a player
on the Eagles is more valuable than seven sacks and
a player on the Jags because you're playing on national
TV all the time, because you're with one of the
better teams in the NFL. So if you're looking to
(14:24):
parlay a one year deal into a bigger contract, remember
last year, Josh Swtt took a pay cut to stay
with the Eagles. They went out and they looked for
a trade. Josh Swt looked for a trade and if
he would have found something better than what the Eagles
were offering, they would have taken it.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
And was a great move because they came back.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
He took less money, he gets eight sacks, and he
turns it into a big contract with the Cardinals.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
So to answer your question, Joe, I think that they
took a lot of.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
They took a couple of swings on players that if
you want them to be your full time defensive end,
probably not the guys you're looking for.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
But if you're looking for for a guy that.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
Can get you seven eight snacks at sacks as a
as a pass rusher, absolutely you know like they're gonna
feed man.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
Jalen Jalen Carter Jordan Davis, Nolan Smith. I think it's gonna.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Come in and is coming in the kid the Olovman
Jon Giants from the Giants. Remember Josh Schwett led the
team in sacks last year with eight until the Super
Bowl if you count it posted ten and a half.
But that's not a big number. So they spread them out.
That's kind of how they're doing it. And I think
they're gonna be okay in that area.
Speaker 5 (15:32):
Yeah, And I mean will the defense be as good?
I mean they were the they were the best defense
last year, so it's hard to you can't beat b
number one. But yeah, I mean, like they there's no
way they were pay pay Milton Williams. There's no way
they were playing Josh Schwett. That the bad organizations, the
teams that struggle are the ones that pay big money
to those players.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
Look at the Cardinals, look at the Patriots.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
When you have that much cap rooms because you don't
have good players to pay, so you're going out and
you're trying to buy good players.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Desire to do that.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
What they do is they have to replace those guys,
and I think they have guys that are ready.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
To step up.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
You know, it's Like what we learned after they won
the Super Bowl in twenty seventeen was that they had
a couple of bad drafts, in part because they didn't
have as many draft picks following trading for Carson Wentz.
But when you don't replace the good players, now you
have to go out in free agency.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
And you have to put duct tape and you have
to fill in the holes.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
Eagles have gotten much better at drafting, so it seems
like they're much better prepared to lose players than they
were before.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Yeah, I totally agree. I mean, I have all the
confidence in the world. It's funny. I'm looking back at
show sheets Joe from a year ago when Saquon was signed,
and things that nature. We talked about like how they're
getting away from the most traditional style of how the
Eagles were where they never paid running backs and things
that nature. And there's certain things that you know, like
(16:53):
you said back in seventeen after they won the Super Bowl,
it was like there was a lot of contracts given
out of like hey, thanks for you know, thanks for
we want you to keep you and it turned out
it was bad contract, so we ran.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
It back and it was not a good idea.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yeah, and I think they're doing it right and you
know they're going to be there. You know they will.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Giant. Let me ask you this about the Cowboys. I
think the Cowboys are quite the enigma and the Giants
they could have saved themselves some headaches if they didn't
beat the Colts in like, you know, Week seventeen last year,
because now they're like in no man's land. They bring
in a couple, you know, band aids who've had some
(17:34):
decent years and quarterback and maybe they don't like Shanders
and they're probably not getting wards. I don't know what
they're doing in their quarterback situation. We'll starve with the Giant.
What do you do with the Giants? Because you know,
the owners said two things and I'm not sure if
they sync up. We want our quarterback for the long term.
We want to win now. Okay he told you know,
his GM and the coach that, and they're pretty much
(17:55):
on borrowed time. What are the Giants doing this year?
Do you think?
Speaker 5 (18:00):
Yeah, it's it's confusing to sign two veteran quarterbacks stop
gap quarterbacks and to draft shad door standers based on
what everybody's saying. It just seems like they could still
draft Shador Sanders, although you would think if there's a
guy that's ready to play, he would be pretty much
ready to play right now. Do you really need two
veteran backup slash starters ahead of them? I don't, So
(18:25):
I don't really know what they're doing. Here's what I
do know is that is that it's a bad organization
that consistently makes bad decisions. And maybe they end up
trading away James Winston or they trade away Russell Wilson
in training camp, if they end up drafting Shador Sanders.
But the thing about it is, if they're not going
to draft a quarterback this year, why would you go
out and get a Russell Wilson that may win you
(18:46):
seven games? Like you had just said they would a
Lake game last year, and they screw up their draft picks.
What do you want in seven games? So you're picking
in the teams.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
But here's the thing, they might not be able to
even if they wanted Sanders, get them because the Browns.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
The Browns Brown.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Yeah, Tennessee's probably gonna take cam Ward. I would you
will LEVI is there? That's I don't think that's the
guy Browns have always struggled in that area. Whether they
pick one or they don't, they screw themselves nine Ways
to Sunday. I don't know what they're doing with de
Shaun Watson. So they're yeah, they're in. They're in a
bit of a quandary because then you bring in a guy,
(19:23):
Yeah you want to see wins mister Marrack. Great, now
we're going to be in the middle of the pack again. Okay,
how about Dallas Stallus. I mean, if you ever watch
Get Up, it's kind of goes up against your show.
But they always it's either they leave with Lebron or
they leave with Jerry Jones when he opens his mouth,
because it's fun to talk about, you know, for guys
like in our industry, he gives you a lot to
(19:45):
talk about. Not a lot of big signings, this free
agency being either like he didn't do last year. What
are the cowboys doing?
Speaker 5 (19:55):
Yeah, it's the Jerry Jones Show and he's eighty two
years old and until he physically because I mean he's going.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
So Steven can't even say not that I got this. No, no, son,
you don't, because I got this.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
The ghost of Jerry Jones after he passes. He's never
gone away.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
Yeah, it's gonna be like weekend at Bernie's. And would
anybody be surprised ten years from now if he was
still doing the same thing he's doing right now. They
have a talented team, they have a high draft pick,
they could get a wide receiver. I don't think I
don't think they're I don't think they're gonna take a
running back in the first round. It's it's it's the
typical Jerry Jones. It's obvious they're going to resign Michael Parsons.
(20:38):
He's playing this whole thing out. He's gonna end up
paying more money. He did it with Ceedee Lamb. He
did it with Dak Prescott twice. He had said yesterday
that he'd rather wait and make sure that he's right
than spend too early and be wrong. Who where has
it happened that he spent early and was wrong. When
you identify that it's a player, right like Dak Prescot.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
You may you may not think Dak.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
Prescott's the best quarterback in the world, but you know
that he's gonna be your guy going forward for the
next three to five years, right, so you sign him
and if it doesn't end up working out, You trade him,
you cut him, you move on. Jerry's making him play
out twice. And you know what he did in the
year they franchised him. He snapped his leg in half
and he still got paid. So what could possibly happen
(21:23):
with Micah Parsons where he's not.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
Gonna get paid forty million dollars a year by waiting? Seriously,
what could possibly happen? He has no sacks and he stinks, right, No, Jerry,
this is a this is a radio bit. Really like,
we were in radio for a long time, Joe, you
were in TV for a long time.
Speaker 5 (21:38):
This is a this is a good day Philadelphia TV bit.
This is a radio bit. Jerry Jones is a radio bit.
He plays everything out because he's constantly in the news.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
It's unbelievable. They'll never win with him doing this, never
win with him doing this.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
I agree they paid. They waited on Dak forever, and
then I think Dak should be quarterbacks sometimes be plushed.
Doesn't win the planet. They gave him a money, a
plus money, you know what I mean, Like, I don't
think you're gonna win like that. And of course, look,
they all get paid fifty to fifty five, and I'm
curious to see what brock Perty's gonna end up with.
(22:11):
And only two of them w won super Bowls. Only
thing been to them. Well, Brock's been to one, but
Joe Burrow has been to one, Jalen's won one, and
Patrick's you know, he wins the rest. That's it. Of
the of the multi of all the quarterbacks you've gotten paid,
those are the only two. I'll take it.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
I like our guy. I'll take our guys. Guys been
to two, played great in both except for the fumble.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
Right like you could, I mean, listen, if they wanted
to trade Dak Prescott to me, it would make sense.
If there's a team that says, hey, you know what,
we'll give you something for Dak Prescott and you just
kind of start over and you get a bridge quarterback,
you draft a quarterback, it.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
Would make sense. What they do doesn't make sense, you know.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
Like there was a rumor out there the Browns were
talking about getting Dak Prescott, which would actually make a
lot of sense. The Browns would be a playoff team
with Dak Prescott.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
Dak Broscott would be a really good quarterback.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
With them, the Browns.
Speaker 5 (23:01):
Yeah, but like for the Cowboys, how many years you
have to do the same thing over and over again
before you're just like you got to start over?
Speaker 4 (23:06):
And I think the answer is a couple more years
at least.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
It's about all Jerry's got left. That's about all Jerry's Sean,
you got one more p We gotta let him go.
He's got a lot of things to do.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Yeah, no, I'll learn. John Thanks for coming on man.
Like I said, it's a pleasure. I just huge fan
of you, so thank you.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
I really appreciate it, Johnny, I appreciate it. I always
appreciate you coming coming on. Man. Love lifting to you
and mission bro. Doctor Glatt. I couldn't believe that. We'll
talk about that some of the time.
Speaker 6 (23:36):
But yeah, I mean I was stunned when I walked
in and I'm like, hey, where's doctor Glatton And they
look at you like he doesn't know, Like I don't
read my email too often, like eight months ago.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
I'm like, what, I hadn't been there in a while,
but you look great? Yeah right, yeah, he.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
It kind of came out of nowhere.
Speaker 5 (23:58):
It happened very quickly, and before it it was like, yeah,
he had he had passed.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
I'm like, what, like this just happened less than a
week so unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Well, it's good, senior. Pol appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
YouTube man hit me up again.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
It was fun. Absolutely Thanks Johnny Marks from p h
L Y. Thanks, guys, I appreciate it. We'll talk to
you later, Johnny. He was on. Uh, he was with
me nine fanatic w I P was the drive home.
He was in a nice spot with the drive home
with the I Bree Show. But he's doing well. He's
(24:31):
always doing well. He always got he's got that.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
I respect it. I I just the utmost respect for him.
I mean, just god, dude. Yeah, great guy. And I
mean you know he's a family man and you know
really took you know, his his uh you know, his
work consideration, in his family life, you know, all of
that into it. And remember that when he was I'm
really glad he was on.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
That was awesome, know that was that was that was
very cool. Yeah. Interesting thoughts too, I like some other
ideas from people, some some other thoughts and uh, yeah
he's a good follow on Twitter too. He's always he
was fired up. He has something. Uh, I didn't push
him on the Rushini but he was fired up about Rushini.
(25:15):
He had a couple ofw weeks last week about about her.
But you know what she turned out to be. You know,
she going to something, but again, anything more than nothing was. Yeah,
there's a little bit of momentum against it. I would
think that they're even without anyone saying anything. I think
there'll be more people against it because it's another year
of data that says that no one can really stop
(25:36):
this or replicate it.
Speaker 6 (25:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
I mean, like I said yesterday, and it's really becoming.
It's a political part of it. It's so political now.
Roger doesn't want it. I think most owners don't want it.
It's not a sexy play, Joe. I really think that.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
It's it's not really sexy. Knew there's a quarterback and
it's just it's like it's is a quarterback kneel down sexy?
Speaker 3 (26:05):
No, but it's yeah, it's it is what it is.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
It's just about spiking to stop the clock. How that's
what it's just a theory.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
That's ridiculous that the timeouts at the end of there
were the faces.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
A lot of time out. That's what made it hard.
That's what made it hard back in the day. You
only get three timeouts with the spike exactly exactly.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
I mean we could go back and forth the NBA
where you're now players at the end in hopes that
you get the ball back and you win in it
until late.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Yeah, you're failing intentionally but not intentional.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
There's a minute elect in the game, but literally there's
an hour elect in the game. Like it's like, come on, So,
I mean, it's it's sports. This is what it is.
So it's gonna go away. It is what it is.
And like John said, the Eagles are gonna They're just
gonna do a quarterback sneak and the Eagles are going
to be really, really good at it.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
It will be because they're loaded. They're still loaded and
still will figure out something.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Leverage And wait, you don't think that's going into it.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
Well, they've got they've got they've got the ingredients. We
definitely have the ingredients. And the thing is on uh
they on third down. See, it would help them because
on third down they could go from third and two
and do it. Although I mean they could still probably
do it. But is that when they really had it rolling,
(27:29):
They mean they moved that pile through forty yards. It's
it's really something to watch when you watch some highlights.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Well, there was a couple of times where they moved
there was.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
Like Jesus, it's like cheese a whole.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Joe. The biggest thing the team practices it.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
They practice it.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
I mean they talked about it all and the practice
with with with that play.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Well they should. They invented it and it works, and
but other teams still they practiced, maybe not as much,
but I don't the horses. They just don't have the horses,
you know, like the physical mass.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
I just see it at me. The little conspiracy thing
in my head right now is just like I'm just
seeing where the Eagles at first said, you know what,
this play got reback introduced what if we did it
this way? Practice it made it. The toush push made
it the brotherly shove what it came today. And then
all of a sudden, Roger Goodell's there at the Lincoln
(28:28):
Financial Field the championship game and he sees the defense
keep on doing that play, and then all of a sudden,
sides is getting called and they's dialing in saying, tell
them me to keep doing it. This is it we're
gonna put it into it because to the point of
if the NFL keeps on doing this that if they
get to the one yard line, it's stupid football. So
(28:50):
I don't know a conspiracy went off. When John was
saying like maybe that's where they were like, the NFL
was like, this is exactly what we need in this
moment to get rid of this play.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
We did the red Skin game. Yeah, oh when when well,
no one went here to that rent the first thing.
I thought it was lebar when he was doing it,
but I was doing no I heard, I heard what
you were saying, but I was I was watching when
it was going on, Like, did you ever know that
(29:19):
was that was a rule?
Speaker 3 (29:22):
That was what you know, the hospital's blown Why a
my conspiracy theorists, Well, it wouldn't be.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
I mean, that's the way to blow it up. If
you're going to have this conspiracy and you want to
do it, do it down at the goal line. Make
it look ridiculous. Come up with a rule no one's
ever heard of, and talk like Jake because the first
time he kind of brushed like Jay and kind of
moved away but kind of brushed him. Oh well, you
hit the quarterback could be a yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Yeah, it's Roger. It's Roger.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Well, guy gets paid fifty million. Whatever the owners tell
him to do.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
I mean, tell him to describe the rule, mister burn
and we found a way to stop the Touchbush.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
Why is that we tell the referee to explain the rule.
Speaker 7 (30:11):
Judging from his attire, he must be some sort of
free thinking anarchist. Bring him to me. Good stuff, man, Hey,
great stuff. Hey, Michael be On. I hope he's okay,
me too.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
What the hell was Mike?
Speaker 1 (30:22):
And he had that power last time? We told him? Right?
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Yeah, no, we did. We told him I mean we
point we bullet pointed everything out.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
I mean that was that was was okay. I don't
like where in the world is Michael podcast? Once and
one of my editor's a friend who was over from
prison was working there and he didn't show up one
day and thomsonuld take us you well, we're still recording him.
I'm five with tom. But anyway, he was like having
your friend, maybe he's dead. He turned and he died.
(30:53):
I didn't show up that day, so comes by. I
hope he's okay, But we appreciate it, folks. You know
