Speaker 1 (00:02):

If you ain't a Gator, you get a bait baby.
(00:23):
She is McGarvey, a senior's gonna be a senior at
Florida and she's gonna grace us with her expertise on
the sports scene, the college sports team, professional sports team.
She's from Cincinnati, Ohio. We'll get to Joe Burrow and
his little train. Butsy, how are you.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
I'm great, I'm happy to be here.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
We're certainly happy to have your house. How's the weather
down there in Gainesville?
Speaker 2 (00:50):
It's it's really hot. It's nineties and above, but it's sunny.
I've been out of the pool tanning, so I can't complain.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Really pretty human up here.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
It's like it's one hundred. My cars at one hundred.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
It's pretty hot. It is definitely hot.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
Well, we just had a torrential downpour here a little
bit ago. But it's still hot.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
It is Wednesday night about what is it about? Eight
twenty The Sixers were just on the clock. They selected
bj Edgecombe from Baylor University one and Donner uh six
five one ninety three some other public caations one eighty
six four. But he's a guard. He played number two
(01:30):
guards past year at Baylor. Can explode off. If you
take a few minutes to watch his tape, it looks
like Cooper Desine the way it explodes off the floor.
Some of his He's pretty dynamic player. Official prediction is
gonna be him and tyring U remactually gonna be boys.
You can tell He's like they're gonna be They're gonna
be tight. Six Ers twenty thirty four games under five
(01:52):
hundred last year, and they need some help busy what
you know from way from thirty five thousand feet? What
did you think of the Sixers pick? They passed on
Ace Ventura from Rutgers because he was kind of, you know,
not showing up, but when at work out for some
(02:15):
various teams and kind of flash a little bit of
an entitlement or an attitude. Maybe I'll shooter shanders depending
on who you believe. What did you think of the
Sixers pick.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Well, I can't say I'm the biggest fan of the NBA,
but I mean thirty four games under five hundred does
not sound great. So I think they could use any
help that they can get.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Yeah, they last year.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
Now if you think that record looks bad on paper,
where do you see them play?
Speaker 3 (02:43):
I'm not watching this. There's no reason to watch this.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
I watched like two games last year. So they historically
they picked, they've had the number three pick four of
the times, and uh Joel embiid and Oka four and
who else did we talk about? Kyle Smith and Jerry
Stack from Carolina?
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Oh he was three?
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Yeah, yeah, So well we'll see how this goes. Cooper
Play obviously was the number one pick, and then Harper
went second. The other dynamic partner Diana Duo of the
Rutgers connection. What'd you guys think of the Stickers pick?
Speaker 4 (03:22):
I I want to t Trey Johnson, but I think VJ.
Edgecomb is the safe pick. It seems like you heard
a couple of weeks ago, ty Reese went on the visit,
they went out to dinner, they were pound around, Like
you said, Joe, I think the writing is on the wall.
I think these are two very young, talented guards that
(03:45):
are going to hopefully drive the Sixers to where they
need to be. I mean, we've said it last week.
I think we've seen the best of embiid. I'd be very,
very shocked if we see anything better or the same
going forward. And Paul George is still a mystery. We
don't know if he's going to be here or not.
(04:06):
More than likely he will be so I think edgecumbe
what did he average? Fifteen points, a little over five
rebounds of game.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
So we have some white con a safe pick, I mean.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
Because you don't have a Sixers yard Joe. They've been
jacking it up for years. I mean I was nervous
going into this all time.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Was the best player available at number three?
Speaker 4 (04:30):
I really like Trey Johnson. I think he's I think
Trey Johnson's going to have a better career than VJ.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Edgecombe.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
It's just me, but you kind of hit on it, Sean.
Where the Sixers want to be? Where is this going?
I honestly, in my head, I can't think of how
he fits in because what are you doing with him? B?
Like you said, what are you doing with Paul George,
were going still going building around the big man. Are
we going to bring mcclaim back and we're gonna go
Are you changing everything?
Speaker 4 (04:57):
They got a lot of guards now, Micah, they got
a lot of cards.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
It's just so tough to tell what their plan is, honestly,
until you figure out what you're doing with Embiid?
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Is this a short term winner?
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Well, I mean, what else you gonna do here with
the number? I mean, you take to me, you take
the best player available, keep it simple.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
I'm fine with it.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
I just don't.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
I couldn't say one way or another about this guy
or how he fits because I.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Don't know what they're trying to do with whatever.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Yeah, Don Moore is a little bit of a quandary
because they didn't have many options last year and the
best listen. I get why a lot of people didn't
want them to sign Paul George, you know, with thirty
six years old. Yeah, that's the downside of his career.
He wanted four years. They signed into a four year contract.
He gets hurt a lot last year, and you know,
(05:47):
him and Embiid hardly played together and Embiid was out
most of the year. It was it was a mess.
So Darl Moore is in a little bit of a
tough situation, so.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Then he put himself in.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
It's kind of like when they brought in Glenn Robinson
and Chris Webber, older guys they were Yeah, they were
great years ago. But we'll just find this dude and
throw them with our star and see what happens.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
And that never worked with Ivers and Brendan O Uh.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
I guess the one good thing that we got going
for us is Darrenmorry's actually done pretty good drafting for
us since he's been here, So, I mean, I guess
maybe that's like, let's.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
See what So who is who is he drafted? Besides
Tigrish smacking break there.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Jared McCain drafted Jared McCain as well. I'm trying to
get it. I wasn't completely prepared here. I had my
list and now you.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Had a week from last yew. But go ahead.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
I love you, Jeff. It's good to see it anyway,
change the subject. If I find it, pull it up here,
I'll go through it.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
But again, thirty four games under five hundred with EMBIID
and what is MBID at this point? Like do we
even know what his injury is or if it's salvageable,
is you're gonna like go into the load management program
again and not play, you know, twice a week? And
what's he doing? What are we doing with Embiid?
Speaker 5 (07:19):
I would like to think everyone wants to know that.
All right, let me ask you this, What could you
get for him?
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Okay, so you're say you're a GM on another team,
and what would you how would you value Joel Embiid
if you're looking to bring him on your team to
maybe get you over the hump? I mean, what do
you It's a risk because you don't know how much
he's gonna play, and you don't.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
Know, and it's not fair to guess because NBA trades
are so dumb. With the three future first rounders, but
top ten protector but this one's top five but not
if the Clippers finish ahead of the it's impossible how
creative they get with these trades. Are trying and figure
out that's it. That's just that there's two teams involved,
sometimes there's.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Three, sometimes there's more. Now I get it real quick,
Cooper Flag, is she she can't miss? Or is she
you know, Mike Dunlevy or Danny Ferry, Christian Ladner, I mean,
all decent players, but or is he the real deal?
Speaker 3 (08:18):
He's your best this year? If overall thick? I mean,
who knows.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
Dallas super lucky after you're getting rid of Luca huh yep?
So I guess could you see Embiid possibly? Could you
see the Lakers trying to do what one last hurrah
with the with Lebron and maybe just say hey what
about Embiid?
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Bring him in?
Speaker 3 (08:44):
That would be their mistake.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
I totally, but I could. I don't know, I could
see the Lakers doing that, Like I just I think
they're they're definitely thinking of like what's the next you
know away? Yeah, but you know, one last rah. I
don't know, we're stuck. I mean, it was stupid to
give him that that extension last year just to make
(09:07):
them feel apparently, to make them feel good about the
whole Paul George thing where it's just like, Okay, hey,
this is feel good money to gets you, you know hey,
that we're really building this between the three of you. Well,
now we realize we got to get younger again.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
So Eagles gave Sheikuana thank You in an extension of
two years. Making mak him the highest paid running back ever.
I get that he had the greatest year, like ever
do to serve money. Yeah, he played what in the
Olympics and got hurt and got booed out of.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
They've been coddling him for years, Joe, and they've been
coddling him for years. I mean, it's just a typical
Sixers organization. This is what they've been doing. They did
it with Ben Simmons, the whole Markel folks state. It
just sucks, man, It just really because it just bums me.
I love the Sixers, and it just.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
That's just sing you because I know you're a huge
It's just it's one bad decision after another after another
after another.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
And I feel like I've been living with it since
I was a little kid, and I'm like, it's gonna
be all right, it's gonna be right. They're gonna find
a way to build around iverson and now it's just
like total bullshit. All right now, I'm gonna howe to
a dollar.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Let's move on. So a champion was crowned this past week.
Here's the thing, Oklahoma City. I don't know if things
would have changed if Tyree's Holly Burton didn't tear up
his achilles. Had he made he had nine points in
about ten minutes. Rips up his achilles. He's done for
the game. It was a value effort.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
I would have been probably done for next year.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
He probably done for next year too, which is really
really a shame. But then you look at Oklahoma City,
one of the youngest teams to ever win the whole thing,
and they'd ever tanked. Look, they put a team together
in twenty twelve. They made the right selections at the time.
They had Westbrook, they had Harden, they had Durant, and
then you know that dispersed and then they rebuild another team.
(11:02):
They didn't have to tank to do it. It can
be done, and they put together a nice team, very young.
It's the seventh different championship team in the last seven years,
so you know, there's no guarantees are going to you know,
be a dynasty or whatever. But they got it done
in the second half the other night. Then they won
eighty five games this year. You got to give them credit.
So why can't the Sixers put something together and build
(11:25):
like Oklahoma City Golden State like they put their team together.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Joe, I want to correct you because last episode you said,
why can't the Sixers do the same thing that the
Thunder did? They actually did. We got in trouble for it.
The Thunder did it better. They tanked. They got to
where they are doing the same fricking thing that the
Sixers did.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
So which year are you talking?
Speaker 4 (11:51):
The last couple I mean it was they were tanking
for the last couple of years.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
They were intentionally tanking.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Yeah, looked like I don't remember.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
You don't remember that. I remember always talk of how
Thunder the Thunder just did it better. They tanked, They
did it better. They didn't make it as obvious as
the Sixers did.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
The difference is when you tank and you have the
assets or selections, you got to pick the right guys exactly.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
And we didn't.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
We didn't. We messed up. We brought in the Colangelo knuckleheads.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Well yeah, but the NBA brought to Colangelos in that
wasn't well, yeah, that was written history.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
They asked the Sixers to stop it, and six or
sit Okay, no problem. I blamed the Sixers, But we
don't know.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
What what would have happened, you know, it would have happened.
We don't know. What would have happened if they said no,
but I mean they were It.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
Would have happened if you nailed the draft picks that
you got from Stinker. Sure, but it can get all
that you like, you blew tons of high draft picks.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Like the process itself structurally worked.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
It did work.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
It did, and you blew the picks exactly exactly, and
that's why they just had to keep on doing it
and it kept on going. That's when the NBA started
came in and said, you're making a mockery of this,
and it's like, okay, we're making a mockery.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Of this, but they were not going to talk about
the finish line kind of. And then they said, okay, Adam,
well we're.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
Trying to get better. We just keep blowing picks right right.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
It's just it's like one overall picks backs in back
years that we're buss Ben Shimmons and then Markel falls.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
Uh huh.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
It's making a comeback though a.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Fan, but you know about the process, the Sixers like,
we're awful on purpose and trying to rebuild, you know,
rebuild their team. You know, Joe LMBI from an outside
or looking in on the sixers. What did you think
of that.
Speaker 5 (13:44):
On the Well, well, i'll rephrase the cart Yeah, I'll
rephrase the question.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
What's your opinion of that philosophy of stinking to get
good like middle round people and any sport, any sport,
mid level talent. We're like they went, they're a little
too good.
Speaker 5 (14:02):
Just get rid of everyone until we stink so we
can get high picks and build that way.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
Are you okay with that? Or is that not cool?
Speaker 2 (14:10):
I mean, I think it definitely habits pros, and I
think the cons most comfort the fan base having to
endure that. But I never really thought.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
It was awful.
Speaker 4 (14:23):
Yeah, I mean it was awful, But I mean, well,
is he just to bring you up?
Speaker 3 (14:29):
So they told us that was gonna happen. We watched it.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
This is they call it the process, So we're we're
telling you it's gonna be some pain, but it's gonna
make us.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Great because for a while we were so mid mid level.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
It was the eighth seed every year, losing the first
round of the best team in the conference, and you
still get a middle round pick, which in the NBA
is really.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Not good enough to change anything. So it was like
we have to just tank the whole thing. And so.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
He's very you know, like very target rich selections and
they wasted them.
Speaker 5 (15:04):
So if he do you think teams should be allowed
to do that? Should leagues let teams do that? Even
when they say there that's what they're doing, there's no
right or wrong answer.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
I mean, I feel like, yeah, they should, they should
be don't. I mean, it's the outcome, the album that
they want. If they don't get it in that way,
then I mean their own fault.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
I tend to agree if you want to tank, go
for it. There's no guarantee.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
It doesn't buy a championship. You could just go in
a hole for twenty.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Years, right, you know.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
I mean in certain sports, I can't. You can't get
away with tanking. In the NFL, he did Cleveland try
to do it probably well.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
First of all, players don't tank. That's never exactly that
players don't tank.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
The Giants could have had the number one overall pick.
You know, they beat the Cults and like the second
to last game and the old you know what I mean.
Doug Peterson he puts Patriots beat the Bills on the
last game of the season, and they could have had
you know, Travis the guy plays both Travis Hunter, right,
they didn't they got an offensive line and from Michigan,
(16:14):
So you.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Know which is he? Are they excited about Travis Hunter
down there? Oh?
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Yeah, for sure. I think a lot of people thought
that Trevor Lawrence was going to be like this coming
of age, the best new thing, and I mean he hasn't.
I don't follow Jacksonville that closely, but I know he
has not yead that one playoff I think one playoff
win this first couple of seasons. But other than that,
it's been really bad and I think he's kind of
(16:44):
brought that new life back into Jacks. But at the
same time, I've seen things for the players like, don't
like his attitude. He's been like dancing and practices.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Travis Hunter. Are you talking about Yeah? Wait?
Speaker 5 (16:58):
Wait so because I have not read anything about this,
and I write about the Jaguars every week, he's bristling
some people like.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
The wrong man, I like some of the players.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
About Trevor Lawrence or Travis Hunt.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Travis Micah, you just got your insider Jacksonville. Look Out
heavy com.
Speaker 5 (17:21):
A source close to the situation says he's pissing people off.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Yes, I've seen videos of him, like dancing at practice.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
He does like to dance. I've heard that, but I did,
I hadn't heard that. Some teammates were like, dude.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Well, is that because he's a rook or is that
because she looks like a jar? You guys have taken
on the NFL.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
A little bit of both.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
I love Travis Hunter right now, so I do too.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Yeah, it's gonna be exciting to see how they use them,
what they use it.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Yeah, but Trevor Lawrence, Yeah, they're pretty disappointed. Like what
he's done or hasn't done is yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
I would say so. I mean I see things online
where they compare him and Daniel Jones.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Jones he did the depth chart over your Boy from
Florida a few years ago, so Richardson.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
So, no, he's in Dan Jones.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Yeah, Daniel Jones is ahead of But.
Speaker 5 (18:25):
Even if that comparison were to be wrong, just the
fact that someone made it isn't good for Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
This is that's true.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
But is he You said the numbers are really similar?
Speaker 4 (18:36):
I think so, Yeah, that's bad.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
I believe you because I I was.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
I admit I was a big lover of Trevor Lawrence
out of college. I saw like one game as a freshman,
and I'm like, I don't know who this dude is,
but he just looks the part.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
He looked the part at Clemson. But yeah, I haven't
seen it.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
I heard.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
What I heard is that he just doesn't doesn't love
football like some guys are really upset with it. He
shit and it makes a good living, but he doesn't
it not. I've heard that completely all and that's what
I've heard.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
Well, they just gave him four year, two forty something
stupid like that.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Is Were you there with Anthony Richardson when he played
in Florida?
Speaker 2 (19:17):
I was, I was a freshman.
Speaker 4 (19:19):
What did you.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Think when he got He got drafted pretty high, and
I think it's completion percentage like fifty percent and he
only played a few games, didn't throw all that much,
and next thing you know, he's a high pick and
taps out last year after a long run to scramble
and he got a lot of heat for that. Now
Daniel Jones is ahead of them, supposedly on the depth
chart in Indy. Did you what did you see when
(19:41):
he played at Florida?
Speaker 2 (19:43):
I mean a lot of people had different opinions of him.
I personally never really got the hype. His decision making
wasn't the best. I think we won a couple competitive games,
but it was nothing crazy, kind of like in those
clubs situ, he couldn't really come up And I think
his numbers are pretty average here. But I know he
(20:05):
had a really good draft combine scores for everything. But
I don't think you can teach that kind of football
knowledge or decision making, and clearly that hasn't translated to
the cold.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
Soaking Like you said before, it's the decision to walk
off the field on your team in the middle.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
Of a drive.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
He could have taken a time out, no one.
Speaker 5 (20:26):
Would have said then, could have made up a story afterward, didn't,
So I think decision making your spot on. But yes,
his completion percentage last year in the NFL was forty
seven point seven. Now is he I have you ever
heard of the Mendoza line in baseball? Oh, it's two hundred.
(20:47):
So they say if you're hitting below the Mendoza liign
you're below two hundred, which is not good. It's like
the base level of you base stay in the Yeah, that.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Will always point out when someone's hidden.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
On the interstate.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
I like that.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
I like that too.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
That's awesome.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
But forty seven, I mean fifty percent is below the
Mendoza line for football quarterbacks. I don't know what it is,
but if you're at fifty six percent, it's.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
Like, dude, that's not good. He's not even close.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
And he's with a pretty good coach, and you know,
Shane Sdikin, and.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
He's got a shoulder injury and he's been out for
the OTAs in mini camps and they're hoping him to
have him back for training camp and he's falling further behind,
and it's it's close to quote unquote change of scenery time.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Meanwhile, you got Joe Burrow and Cincinnati getting spotted in
New York City with Olivia two different quarters.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
How did dis Joe Burrow not win MVP last year?
Speaker 5 (21:48):
By the way, because Josh Allen obviously was on the
better team.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
He also Josh Allen also had sixteen touchdowns he ran for.
That's a that's a lot for a running back.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Joe Burrow had nowhere to his offensive line.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
Defensive lines horrible. Forty three touchdowns, nine picks, one eight
quarterback rating almost five thousand yards, almost five thousand yards.
He almost took his team, considering they were a couple
of games under five hundred most of the year and
finished nine and eight. I believe in seventyen didn't quite
make it. I think the Bronco is one of the
late season game and knocked him out. But anyway, so,
(22:26):
but apparently off the field he's doing okay. Leading sports
illustrated swim shoot model. What's her name, Sean o Olivia?
Speaker 3 (22:36):
Can you help us with this? This is not an influencer.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
Her names Olivia Ponton. She was, She's like an influencer
on TikTok and Instagram.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
And she was. Was that accurate? She was a Sports
illustrated swim shoot model.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Apparently.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Yeah. I think she didn't suffer as I swim.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
She also a model for Victoria's Secret as well. And
she's an employee of Joe Penroll apparently. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
She apparently right.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
A year apparently.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
Yeah, she's actually the one that called in the burglary
at his home and she identified herself as his employee.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
I'm actually I'm from Cincinnati, So a lot of rumors
about that going on before people actually found out. My yeah,
my friends. People I would know would see here at
like hot yoga classes and they get pictures, but she'd
be like, don't post those anywhere because you don't want.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
People from Cincinnati or they No, she's not okay. So
it's not like they both live in the same area.
That's possible.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
They could see her around town, right, she's in town
for Joe Burrow. Okay, she is Okay.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Did Joe Burrow like like completely own that city?
Speaker 2 (23:50):
Oh yeah, everyone's obsessed with him.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Were it's on the Bengals and not paying like Trey
Hendrickson and have problems with uh, you know the way
they took a business fuck up for Jamar Chase and yeah,
I mean, I mean notoriously cheap. Didn't really help them
out on defense last year and they got a guy
who had seventy and a half sacks back to back
years and he's not happy.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Yeah. I don't think the fans are super happy either.
I'm a huge Bangles fan, but like all root form.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
Your squad though, actually, like the Cowboys, what.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Here we go?
Speaker 4 (24:34):
You locked her?
Speaker 1 (24:35):
You vetted her?
Speaker 4 (24:36):
No, I had no idea. That's why that was a real, honest,
what honest to god true idea.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
She told me that she told me. She didn't tell
me that, did I not mention that. I just know
what it. Oh, that's even better. He was legitimate pissed.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
I don't help people.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
It's kind of like, it's kind of embarrassing.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Oh man s okay.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
So this is the generational difference. She doesn't.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
She wasn't in the Apeman years, so her experience with
the Cowboys is not the same as Rogers.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
Rogers.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
God, we look like a dynasty over here.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
She things were spoiled.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
I love it. I love it. Now this all makes sense.
The Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders a raise boom. Now I'm putting
two and two together. There is he. I love that
you're a Cowboys fan. This is awesome too. I think
that's from all right, So is he?
Speaker 2 (25:33):
What?
Speaker 4 (25:33):
Why? How did you get your onto the Cowboys?
Speaker 2 (25:36):
So my dad was a military kid, so he spent
some time growing up in Fort Worth and at the time,
not at the time, my grandparents are still Steelers fans.
So he picked the Cowboys, pissed them off, and then
the Cowboys were super good. So just worked out really well.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
Oh my gosh, it's like It's like my dad with
Penn State and me Notre Dame. I hate that State
with a passion, and I root for a Notre game
just to piss him off. So that's that's awesome. So
you got embedded? Oh wow?
Speaker 1 (26:08):
All right?
Speaker 5 (26:08):
So yeah, so you say you start asking you Cowboys
questions and I didn't even know. They didn't know you're
a Cowboys fan because we were talking about Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
So now you have to tell us about that sixty
million dollars a dude got last year. Are you a
DAK person? I tell you talk to Are you a
DAK person? First of all, are you a person?
Speaker 4 (26:28):
I think?
Speaker 2 (26:29):
I think he's such a great guy, but he's not
the guy that will take the Cowboys to the super Bowl.
He's not. You can't win clutch games. You just can't
at all.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
What it is.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
I think it's a mental thing.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
But I tend to be a DAK person. I'm not
sixty million dollar dack. No, that's not a good idea.
But you're right though, he does.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
I mean that Packers game was two years ago, that
playoff game that's smoked smoked.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
It looks like they have at all.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
And he gets hurt a lot too. That's not his fault,
but he is.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
He is intended to get banged up.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
But I super Rush isn't wasn't the most horrible backup down.
I think he won them a couple of games, Like
seasons ago.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Rush tremendous as a backup the last couple of years. Yeah, yeah,
from tremendous. Right, it's a little baseball. I mean, let's
bring it back home in the Phillies. Uh, back until
on top of the Mets. You know, we kind of
ebbs and flows. You know, they'll lose nine to ten
and then they're going to sixteen game winning streak, and
(27:34):
you know, there'll be five games behind the match one
week and next thing you know, they were game and
a half in front of the match. So it's kind
of like Seana, we talked about this all the time,
that it's baseball and whoever gets hot late, we'll see.
But the Phillies are Look, they're Vegas has them as
the fourth as a fourth as a team with the
fourth bet side of winning the World Series, not that
(27:55):
really means anything, but decent squad. They need to not
do what they usually do. You know, in the postseason,
they hit a wall. My thing is is Dave Dombrowski
this year, to me, he's lacked any semblance of Howie Roseman,
where how he is aggressive, takes big swings. Dombrowski has
(28:19):
been very conservative at the trade deadline, not you know,
standing pas. Sometimes the best move is no move. I
get all that, but I think he's.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Been bringing younger guys up though. I think that's came up.
I mean Buddy Kennedy.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
Who's from Millville, New Jersey. Yep, I don't know him,
but he's kissing.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
I don't know him.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Up in this year. I mean, isn't it obvious they
probably if you run it back with basically the same
team and they lost their I guess there. It was
their closure for the PDS this year. But he's done
for the playoffs, so it's obvious that maybe a change
is in order as a trade deadline, maybe you know,
(29:03):
take a swing.
Speaker 5 (29:04):
They should add a bullpen arm for sure or two
and bring up Crawford.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Why can't we see Crawford.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
Agreed?
Speaker 5 (29:12):
Who is out there that you're like, oh, blocking the
row House is blocking them?
Speaker 4 (29:16):
I mean here, so you know, Painter, Andrew Painter is
going to come up in a couple.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
At some point you don't need starting pitching though.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
No, But here's the thing they're gonna I think they're
gonna throw Lizardo in the bullpen for the playoffs. I
really do. I don't think he's going to be a
starter in the playoffs. I think that's gonna be your
left hand coming out of the What.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Do you think of that?
Speaker 4 (29:35):
I like, I don't mind it, I don't hate it.
I mean, they're definitely gonna need to do it. There's
been talk about Ranger Suarez, but after that gym last night,
I mean, it sucked that he gave up that home run.
But again that's where you wish that your offense would
wake up. But you got to give it to the
other pitcher too. I mean, it was a hell of
a pitcher school.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
You're going to a four man rotation at that point, right,
So somebody's got to go unless you're at a meeting
and you get left off the whole roster.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
And then come and get your get your next year.
Speaker 5 (30:07):
So I don't have a problem with that. If he's
the one to go, it depends on on is painter up,
how well is everyone pitching. It's gonna be there's a
lot of variables there, but I wouldn't have a problem
with that in theory. I don't love the closer By committee,
which we've been doing now.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
For ye either I don't I don't like it either.
I don't like it either. I think they need a
bat I would really like them to solidify the off autfield.
It just you can't do this. It's just it's getting
to the point where if it doesn't work this year
and again after this year, I think there's gonna be
some definite changes that you're gonna see happen.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
There was a rumor, is another year that they didn't
win the whole thing or you just think it's time
to make a change, like why we will.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
Well yeah, I think yeah, I think yes, because another
year has gone by, You have Schwerber that's coming off
the books, you got Costianos where it's like, okay, you
got one more years, So maybe there's a chance that
you could trade that last year and get something out.
It's just if it doesn't work this time around again,
you can't bring it back again. I mean, you're just are.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
You talking about this roster as it is? Or Dombroski
and management and stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
No, you know about Dembraska. I think Dembroski's here until
you see a Nashville pop up. I think that's the
only time that you're going to see him leave the
Phillies unless he gets fired, right.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
I wasn't sure if when you said things got to change,
you mean the roster.
Speaker 5 (31:28):
Okay, yes, the roster. Yeah, Wheelers only got another couple
of years. Suarez is done after this year.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Yeah, I think so. It will be.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
Interesting to see who they pay and the direction they
go now.
Speaker 5 (31:39):
But if you get rid of Suarez, well, if you
if you go for it and don't get it, you
lose Suarez.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
Would you trade him now and get something for him?
I can't know.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
I have a really hard time trading your like Suarez
right now. I mean, what's really going to keep you
in it and what has been keeping you in these
games is the hitching the bullpen is the thing that's
been struggling. So it's again, it's hitting season, boys. I mean,
it's starting to heat up. You know this team, they're
(32:11):
very streaky. I just hope they get hot at the
right time again like he did when they went to
the World Series, and then they don't fizzle out like
they did.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
I mean, it's that's the.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
Way baseball is now. This is the way baseball is.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
So in terms of the bullpen, there were rumors that
they could go after like what thirty six thirty seven
year old ere all?
Speaker 3 (32:31):
This Chapman is he? Do you remember him from the Reds?
Speaker 2 (32:35):
I do remember him.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
He would missile, Yeah he would.
Speaker 5 (32:40):
He was hitting like one oh four, one o five
on the Red. He couldn't control it for anything.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Yeah, he was pretty good in Cincinnati for a couple
of years. But I think he went to the Yankees
after after that too. But I don't really know what
he's had some years of the Red Sox. Look, he's
probably getting kind of old now.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (32:59):
Yeah he's up there and I heard he's like not
a great teammate, and I don't know.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
I mean I heard great guy now still throwing heat though,
who knows what's helping that.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:15):
Hey, so here's a crazy thing that just came across.
So Ace Bailey went to the Utah Jazz. Okay, but
what pick was that?
Speaker 1 (33:23):
Bro?
Speaker 4 (33:25):
That was the sixth the fifth pick? Okay, So Danny
Ainge is the GM.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
How about it's very interesting than he would take.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
So I immediately thought, maybe this whole thing.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
Was the Sixers whift is what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
Maybe maybe this whole thing where hey, say you don't
want to play, say you don't want to work out,
this is all Danny Ainge's master plan. Sorry to change
his subjects, but because Johnson said went to the Wizards,
he did go.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
To the Wizards.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
Interesting, we're having a fire sail up in Boston. I
mean they got rid of Porzingis. It was openly furious.
He down in Portland is thirty five years old.
Speaker 5 (34:21):
And did I hear they're already touting Houston for next
year because of the Durant.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
You know what Kevin Durant is now with the Rockets.
We might as well talk about that real briefly. Yeah,
I mean, yes, Tyler Houston moved to Vegas, has him
as one of the top five teams.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
But why what has he proved in the last couple
of years to do that?
Speaker 1 (34:40):
They proved that he can take Phoenix and drive them
into the ground because they did nothing when he was
with Phoenix. You're right, I mean, you're right, Tawny. I'm
I'm ready for the NBA. I'm ready for all these
old heads to leave. I'm just like, go go, go go.
It does seem like a lot of those guys are
still like hanging around, like the Gardens of the World,
and and then the Kevin Durants and even Lebron, even Lebron,
(35:04):
the Russell Westbrooks. Real quick, what do you think? I mean?
I think if I'm a Lakers fan, I think it's great.
I think I think it happened. When were on the
air last week, he.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
Did it was our it was our breaking news, right,
were right that.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
We posted two hours later?
Speaker 1 (35:19):
Right, you have to like what he did with the Dodgers.
I mean the payroll and the deferred payments or whatever.
I mean, they're they're figuring loaded a couple of world championships.
Are they gonna do things differently in La now? I
mean Genie Buss listen, I know she's the managing partner,
but so was Mark Cuban. He didn't even know that
(35:39):
they got rid of Lucas. Yes, tell him, I'm still
running the team. Yeah, we got rid of we traded
Luca Dotins. What way to bring him in on that conversation?
But so Genie, she's gonna like she's gonna be like
the Burgermeister. She'll just fade into Bolivia. As Mike Tyson
would say, I think, but I like, what if I'm
(36:01):
a Lakers fan, I like I like that move absolutely.
I think that's but you're right, like Lebron, he's still
but you know what, he's still like one of the
best players on the floor when he's on the floor.
Mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
I know, he is still really good.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
He's amazing, really good. You know, his basketball acumen. I
think skipt a generation because Bronni didn't really get you know,
those changes. But that got to play with his son
for a little bit.
Speaker 5 (36:27):
But is he Do you have a thought on that
on somebody a team drafting their star players kid, and
everyone knows that's the only reason they took him.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
I mean, maybe they just didn't make Lebron happy. I
don't know. Didn't he say he wanted to play.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
With brown.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
Son? I mean, he did average five points a game
and uh in a cardiac arrested his freshman year at US.
I can see why they draft him.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
You would not believe. Years ago, when he originally went
to the Lakers, there was talk that the Sixers might
have an opportunity to all these rumors that they're visiting schools,
they Bronni sightings, blah blah blah blah, and everybody was like,
oh my gosh, yeah we'll take them, We'll let him
play here. God it never happened, Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
Yeah, it'd be cool if Lebron came here.
Speaker 5 (37:28):
Yeah, now, but three four years ago that would have
been because you know what, it's one of those things
like I don't want him, I don't want them, and
then as soon.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
As you find out they get him, be like all.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Right, yeah Lebron, yeah, Lebron. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:40):
I kind of felt that way about Saquana, like this
dude's hurt. We don't we don't need this, we don't
need this. And then they got him.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
I wasn't all that thrilly that I'm like, okay, like
all right, that's an upgrade, I guess, but like he's
been okay, but he's has been don't set the world
off fire, and and look what he does.
Speaker 4 (37:55):
When there was the rumors the t O and I
was like, no way, no way. And then when the
Ravens traded for him, and he was like, yeah, no,
that's not where I want to go and I was like,
oh man, we really aren't done again him and they did.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
They had a special Master Stevens something coming. I don't
know why I.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Know that name. What's that bro got that team over
the hump?
Speaker 4 (38:15):
Oh they should have made them. They should have gave
him the saque.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
Absolutely should But Joe Banner had no, We're not gonna
shut up to screwed that up big time. So we
all talked.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
We talked.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
Saw the Panthers win a cup. That's four cups in
the state of Florida. State they can't water, will never
freeze in the state of Florida, and they won four
Cups in six years. The eleven Miami Club apparently comped them.
I can't even say it was straight fish a Barville
five hundred thousand dollars. I mean I saw it looked
(38:55):
like a lot of fun. I mean they were, you know,
the crowd, they were doing like stage guys with Brad
shot and he had the cup. I think he got
a tattoo. He spelled spelled Standley Cup Champions correctly this time.
And then he was seeing Fort Lauderdale at the was
the button you know at the window. I say thank you.
He was leading the crowd and a thank you Boston chant,
(39:15):
you know, showing his loyalty, gratitude for Boston for shipping
to Florida. He wins a cup, didn't win the con Smike,
but had a fabulous finals and a playoff run. But uh,
that's pretty generous of a bar to comp the Panthers half.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
A mill really got a lot of pr out of it.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
Yeah, right, do you?
Speaker 4 (39:35):
How do you?
Speaker 1 (39:35):
How do you drink a half a million dollars on
a bar bill when you.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
Boring a lot of it out because you don't care
because it's comped.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
Maybe yeah, way, Bogs wad Bogs invite he won what
was it seventy two beers on a flight or something
like that. That's right, Wade, And maybe Wade was that
He actually just signed at a Fanatics best. Someone brought
this massive thing of beer that was the exact amount
(40:05):
that he drank and he signed it, which was pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (40:10):
But here they are they excited about the Panthers down there.
And by the way, because you're the only person here
in Florida, we're gonna.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
Expect you to speak for the whole state of Florida,
regardless of geographic You got that you cool, right, yeah, okay.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
I mean, you know you're from Cincinnati, but I mean
you have a little you got a little flave of
you know, Stanley Cup action down there, and.
Speaker 4 (40:35):
I mean she's putting Florida hockey on the map, right.
Speaker 3 (40:39):
That's true.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
You know, you know what?
Speaker 5 (40:42):
Okay, you accidentally thought of something really neat. Do you
think the success of the recent Florida teams, the Lightning
and the Panthers have increased?
Speaker 3 (40:51):
Uh? I guess the game from the ground up down there.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
There's so many colleges, even Florida golf you want, Yeah,
the ice skaters. You'll see college golf coast like some
people that you would never think of having a club
hockey team, and obviously they do. It's honestly pretty big
down here. I didn't really know we had a club
(41:18):
hockey team until a couple of years ago.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
But ever Blades over in the golf they just made
to the finals again. They lost, but they're in the
finals every year. So, I mean, hockey is like a
real thing in Florida.
Speaker 4 (41:33):
It really is. It really is. I mean, and it's
cool to see like Izzy with her tiktoks and whatnot,
has really helped put University of Florida Hockey on the map.
Speaker 1 (41:42):
So what is what do you do in terms of
the social media for for the team? I?
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Oh, yeah, I've gone to like most of the games
and a half away.
Speaker 4 (41:54):
It's in Jacksonville, right, I know, I've dedicated.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
That's a commitment.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
I it is. So I'll do I'll go to all
the games and I'll do all like their Instagram stories
and stuff. And then I've done some like tiktoks with
the rookies like last year, and just like social media copriting,
so doing the captions. But this year I'm kind of
more overseeing all the content. So I'll come up with
(42:21):
ideas for everything, and then we do like TikTok trends.
We're not actually not allowed to have a TikTok because
of the Florida state rules.
Speaker 5 (42:30):
Really, oh do tail? So I know there are there
is legislation. I thought it was federal on TikTok.
Speaker 4 (42:38):
They're trying to bang that was like they tried to
ban it.
Speaker 2 (42:41):
But then Trump was like I saved the band, here's
your TikTok back, and everyone was happy.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
But then it's like, well that's for ninety days. And
then we'll revisit it. I don't even know where it
is right now, but.
Speaker 4 (42:51):
So is TikTok. So it's fine.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
This is separate from that. This was my freshman year
of college. They signed uh bill, no TikTok on public university.
Wi Fi can't do any of that. So none of
the teams i'd have TikTok I go on. I try
to go on TikTok at school. It doesn't work on
(43:16):
my WiFi. I have to go my cellular to use it.
It's a big It really sucks, say the leaks, but
like a commoner, geez, TikTok trends on reels. I know
my data.
Speaker 4 (43:31):
Seriously, Yeah I didn't.
Speaker 3 (43:36):
I didn't know.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
The vision wanted to give me some examples of teams,
and the Gators will play like when they go up
to Jacksonville in their conference division the league, who.
Speaker 2 (43:45):
Who they played? They always play to start the season.
They always play emvery riddle another team.
Speaker 4 (43:56):
Every riddle you're telling me. The Aviation school a hockey team.
Speaker 2 (44:01):
I'm telling you.
Speaker 4 (44:01):
That, yes, I so. One of my best friends in
high school graduated from there. Wow, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (44:09):
They'll play like other SEC schools like Georgia, Tennessee Alabama
hockey teams.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
Huh, that's awesome.
Speaker 5 (44:17):
So maybe the best thing for the NHL that it is,
and maybe the best thing for the NHL for expansion
and improving their standing because they need it, is to
have a bunch of Florida teams in the finals. Say
people down there interested, because typically they aren't even as
far north as we are up in.
Speaker 3 (44:37):
Pa and Jersey.
Speaker 5 (44:39):
It's still once you get into Connecticut and North it's
a different ball game.
Speaker 1 (44:42):
Yeah, different ball game.
Speaker 4 (44:44):
Yeah it was. It's so easy. I lived in Minnesota
for nine years, and before I lived there, New York
Rangers games and Flyers games. I was like, oh, wow,
nothing beatsis. These are the greatest fans ever. And then
I got to Minnesota and had a chance to go
to a wild game when the Flyers were planning there,
and I was like, no, frickin way, no way, any
(45:04):
