Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, my friends. This is Ralph Emory sitting here in Nashville, Tennessee,
the Home of the Stars, and my guest this week
is Whispering Bill. Bill Anderson. Bill, welcome back to the show.
Thank you, Bill. I don't think that's going to work.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
That's better. There'd be a lot of people that would think,
all of a sudden, their hearing went out. Our show
is brought your way by four trucks and by Raid
and Bill. How are you.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
I'm fine, Ralph, good to be with you again.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Bill wore his Los Angeles Dodger jacket to the show,
as if to say, don't you wish you had one?
I'm a Dodger fan, for whatever that's worth.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
No, I wore it to say, look, I've come here
to get in the spirit of Ralph Emery. I know
you're a Dodger fan, and I thought it might cheer
you up if I wore my Dodger jacket in well.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I don't want to be reminded they've had a rough year.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
The man who gave me the jacket has not had
a very rough year.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
I know. I don't want to be reminded of who
gave you the jacket. Because he turned. He's a turn.
He left.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
He says he's gonna get me a Yankee jacket, but
I haven't had the chance to really pin him down
to it.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Tommy John gave you that jacket.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Yeah, I'm very proud of that, because the Dodger jackets,
I know the pitchers, and I'm not sure the rest
of the players may also. You don't have their name
on the back. And Tommy got me the authentic Dodger
jacket with Bill Anderson on the back. That's as close
to the big leagues as I'll ever come. I guess, well,
that's a lot closer than most of us. Yeah, and
Tommy John, for more bucks, went to the Yankees, and.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
He's had a pretty good year. Yeah, all right, Well,
I can't wait to get into the show, so we
won't wait.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
I can't wait any longer myself.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
I can't wait any longer, baby, I mean, I can't
wait any longer.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I gotta have you.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
I gotta know how it is to touch you, to
hold you, to feel you.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Our lives have touched, our minds have touched, and I
can't wait any.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Longer for our bodies to touch, our souls, to touch.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
I can't wait any longer.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
This fin's been so.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Satisfy.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
You're the only one who can.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Where do I have to go?
Speaker 6 (02:30):
What do I have to do?
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Do I have to lie to.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
So I can lie with you?
Speaker 1 (02:43):
I can't wait any long.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Patience has never been one of my virtues. Maybe when
I want something, I will writ now and I want
you now. I want to kiss you now, I want
to love you now. I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
This being's getting strong.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Satisfied. You're the only one who can.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Where do I have to go?
Speaker 7 (03:45):
What do I have to do?
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Do I have to lie to so I can lie
with you? I ain't wait alone?
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Maybe I can't wait at all. I want you now now?
Speaker 1 (04:28):

want to go back to the Dodgers for a moment.
Don Sutton another picture who stayed with the Dodgers, who,
(05:58):
as I recall, used to be a country jockey. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
I think he's done some disc jockey work in the
off season. I know, done around Viral Beach, Florida, that
area where the Dodgers train. I've seen some films of
him behind the microphone, and he sounded pretty good. Some
of the stuff I've heard.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Him do well. I think he used to be on
another station California to Kay Barbecue.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Oh. I believe he did yeah out in the Valley
when they used to have the country station out there.
Don's a real nice guy. He came out to the
Palomino Club when I played there one night and came
up on the stage. At the time, he knew I
was real close with the Cincinnati Reds because my friend
Dave Bristol had been with the Reds and their manager
and everything. And he came up on the stage and
he said, in front of all the people, he was
(06:37):
going to convert me from a Cincinnati fan to a
Dodger fan. And he gave me a pennant and the
cap and all of these good things. He paid me
one of the greatest compliments and gave me as big
a set of goosebumps as I've ever had in my life.
During the World Series a couple of years ago, when
the Dodgers were down to the Yankees, I forget exactly
what the ratio in games was, but Don had come
(06:59):
out and pitched the Sun the game in LA that
gave the Dodgers a win. I think sent the series
back to New York. I think they were down like
three games to one, and I went into the Dodger
clubhouse after the game, and all these reporters were gathered
around Don Sutton's locker. Just won a game in the
World Series, and I would hear's all these heavy reporters,
and Sutton spotted me over in the back of the
(07:19):
crowd and says, hey, guys, wait a minute, and he
kind of parts the crowd of all the sports writers
and he walks through and he shakes my hand, and
all these who is that? You thought maybe I was
from the White House or somewhere.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
That was very nice.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
It really was. It was a big thrill.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Well, Bill, you really haven't answered the question that I
thought you might go ahead and answered, where do your
allegiances live? Which ball club do you support?
Speaker 2 (07:42):
The Nashville sounds, Well, I know.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
That, but how about a major league team?
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Hey, their major league if you looked at their one
loss record, about their crowds, those listed in the major
league lineup, the roster or the standings. You know, really
and truly, I have several favorite teams. Don't want to
commit you, Well, I like the Atlanta Braves because I
go to spring training with them every year and they're
super people. And I like the Dodgers and I like
(08:07):
the Reds, and this year in the American League, I've
been pulling pretty hard for the Angels because I'd like
to see mister Autrey have a championship.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Heay, it wouldn't it be nice?
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (08:16):
We certainly paid enough for it, Yeah, and waited long enough.
All right, Bill, let's go to a song here. Tell
me about your new record, the Dream Never Dies Rap.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
This song was written by a guy up in Canada
named Richard Cooper, and he's part of a group called
the Cooper Brothers. They had this record out last year
all round Thanksgiving timer so and I heard it on
the radio when I was down in Atlanta visited my
mom and dad, and I went by the country station
down there, WPLO, and my friend Jim Clements gave me
a copy of the Cooper Brothers record, and I brought
(08:47):
it back to Nashville and got to listening to it
and kind of kicking it around and added it to
my road show in January when we changed our road
show around and we started getting so much reaction to it,
and so many people would come up after the show
and want to know where they could get a copy
of that record, and I had to tell him, you know,
that we had not recorded it. Finally, one day I said, hey,
put up a microphone and let's make a record of it.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
And so we did, and you can see Bill doing
it on popcars the country this season. He's on with
Jim Stafford and with Conn Hunley.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Yeah, and hey, they joined in and we had a
great time singing this.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Even joined in. They found out after the show they'd
cut my mic off.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
They do that to me a lot too.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
All right, here's Bill with the dream Never dies.
Speaker 8 (09:34):
It's just the dreamer.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Dream strong.
Speaker 7 (09:46):
It's just the singer.
Speaker 9 (09:50):
Come on, everybody dream Some.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Men dream of fame and song of fortune.
Speaker 5 (10:06):

Speaker 6 (10:07):

Speaker 3 (10:12):
All men dream of happiness, All men dream of love.
For without dreams and silence without dreams?
Speaker 10 (10:23):

Speaker 1 (10:27):

Speaker 2 (10:28):

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Just the dream of.
Speaker 8 (10:34):
Dream never dies.
Speaker 11 (10:37):
Strong, song never dies.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Just the same.
Speaker 6 (10:44):
It's come on, everybody dream alone.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
The dream now died.
Speaker 11 (10:55):
Just the dream the dream ever die get strong.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
You know, ever since I was a little boy, I've
dreamed about nights like tonight, traveling, getting out on a
big stage somewhere, singing my songs. I guess over the
past few years my dreams have come true thousands of times.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
But you know, even if they hadn't, I'd kept writing
on dreaming them. Anyhow.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
I meet so many people in my travels who compromise,
who settle for less than they dream, and they walk
around looking down at the ground.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Saying, amen, my dream dying.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
But dreams don't die, no, not if you dream them
long enough and strong enough. You men out there listening
to me right now, you're dreaming of success, a dreaming
of finding that perfect lady. Hey, keep dreaming you're getting
And ladies, you're dreaming of the good life, finding that

Speaker 11 (12:53):
So come on, everybody, dream along.
Speaker 8 (12:58):
Dreams a long.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
Bill. Would you call it a message song?
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Yeah? I think so, Ralph. It's a positive thought. It
doesn't really drive any one specific message home because we're
not talking about one specific dream. But I think people
can kind of put themselves in that place and say, well, look,
my dream is this or my dream is that, and
you know I can't let it die or I didn't
let it die. I've gotten so many letters from people
since this record came out, everything that you can possibly imagine,
(13:41):
people talking about their dreams, and they said, you know,
when I heard your record, it made me realize that
not to give up in this kind of thing. So
in that sense, I think it's a message song.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
You've heard Bill sing The Dream Never Dies. Now, Bill,
I thought we would preview next week's show and next
week's guest.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
We just started this week's show.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
Well, you know, I'm always looking for the future.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
It's really that bad.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Huh No, No, it's it's going well, Bill, believe me.
But here's what's going to happen next week.
Speaker 8 (14:19):
Hi, this is Crystal Gale, and I'm looking forward to
sharing my trip to China with you on the Ralph
Emory Show. Sometimes when I get in this moo.
Speaker 12 (14:32):
And I'm meeting you deep down.
Speaker 8 (14:35):

smile on your face makes me wanner again.

Speaker 4 (15:04):

Speaker 2 (15:06):

we both got? Sure because we played all the games.
The fact still remains.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
And that's Miss Crystal Gale, who also will be appearing
on the Bob Hope television show. She went to China
to appear with Bob Hope and his special from Pete
King and various other locations over there.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
I'll be very interested in listening to her on your show.
I have read some things in the papers here that
she has said about her trip. You know, I'm sure
that must be quite something.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Yeah, I was. It was a strange situation because she
said nobody over there had heard of Bob Hope or
her or anybody else on the show, except I suppose
the Chinese guest who appeared.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
I can't imagine anybody not having heard of Bob Hope.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
So, Bill, you know where that leaves us. But yes,
that is that is strange a place in the world
where there are millions of people who have not heard
of Bob Hope. So he was sort of America's goodwill
ambassador to that country. And that show is a three
hour special on NBC Television on the sixteenth of September.
(17:20):
And before we got into all that, you've you've heard
you have heard Crystal Gao sing your kisses.
Speaker 5 (17:28):

All right, here's the North Carolina boy named Billy Crash credit.
Where did he get the nickname Crash.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
I never have known that it came from his football days,
and not as I have seen it written that he
drove racing automobiles, but he was a halfback and used
to crash the line.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Well, I didn't think his mother and daddy named him
Billy Crash, But I didn't know. Here's a song called
robin Hood.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
They see robbing who leaves long ago because he's a
light and little masshole a pretty women and get out

Before your next backyard barbecue turns into a battle with
mosquitoes and other flying insects, remember to get raid yard guard.
It's the outdoor insect fogger that kills bugs up to
twenty feet away. Spray yard guard before your guest arrive.
(21:22):
It's powerful bug killing fog penetrates the foliage for a
circle of protection that kills bugs now keeps them away
for hours. Yard Guard takes care of the bugs, so
you can take care of the party. Raid Yard Guard
kills bugs, now keeps them away for hours. Now we'll
dip into that wealth of talent in Houston, Texas.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Do you know this guy is my wife's favorite singer?
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Well, she's picked a good one.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
She sure has.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Boy that what was the last record at the farewell party? Yeah,
what a dynamite record.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
I like just about everything he records.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
We're talking about Gene Watson. He's one of the best,
and he's going to pick.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
A little.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
Them.
Speaker 10 (22:02):
Texas fields were hot, and that tractor never was my
kind of a living. And when I hit sixteen, I
had the size and I hit the road to freedom,
and I'm glad I wasn't there to see my mama,
cause you must have cried for home work. I still
(22:28):

Speaker 4 (22:30):
If you were get tall, hick the wilder cloud.
Speaker 10 (22:38):
Now, Dallas was big and hard to find a job,
and so I didn't.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
It was easier to hit you riding Houston. It was
more like litting now.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
I been down every road, and I stood on every
porch where they.
Speaker 9 (22:59):
Again man, and if they had an hour or a dive,
I would pick the wildly flower.
Speaker 10 (23:14):
It's hard to turn around, look back down the ropes
that I have traveled, because like never.
Speaker 9 (23:23):
Ending ball of twine, my dreams of carma rivalry.
Speaker 10 (23:29):
Now let me demlady show across the shoulders of my life.
Speaker 8 (23:34):
I have to find.
Speaker 9 (23:39):
I couldn't tie my life together with guitar strings and
the poet's heart From time.
Speaker 10 (23:50):
And I'm so glad I wasn't there to see mine mama,
because she must have cried for hour.
Speaker 7 (24:00):
I still hear her saying, grek into her guitar and
