(04:01):
Bird continuing the tour through toy Land Town and the
song of course silver Bells. Yeah. I just saw help
Emory running to the radio station over there. He would
just cut across the thing. Did you see? Maybe is

(04:23):
he where's he? Maybe he's going out for his ear
muffs on they sell pizza here at Maybe he's going
out for a pizza. Hey, But Conway, here's a song.
Here's a song that I play every year at this
time by Merle Haggard. You know what I just have
to think about. Do you remember that song about you
and and Haggard and a race. I'm not a song story,

(04:46):
but you didn't you have Merl Haggard run a race
one time. Uh, well, it wasn't me, it was I
had something to do with. It was Anthony Armstrong Jones.
There was a card game going on and which Haggard
and I were doing some shows together. And remember Big Joe,
that was my band years. Well, Big Joe was right
in the middle of this card game, and so was
Anthony Armstrong Jones. Now I'm upstairs in the bed to sleep,

(05:06):
and so my crew wipes Haggard's crew out in the
card game. And so Haggard thought he had him away
to get his money back. Evidently he's pretty fast. He
can run pretty fast. He thought he could get some
of his money back, and he just told Big Joey.
He said, I'll just tell you what I'll do. I'll
run you a foot race for a thousand dollars or something.
And Joe said, no, I said, I'm in pretty bad

(05:27):
shape right now. He said, but I'll.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Tell you what.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Anthony Armstrong Jones sitting here. We'll run you a foot
race now. And Haggard's looked at Anthony, you know, and
he said, I don't know. So he's younger than I am.
And so Joe came up with a really good line.
He said, Well, I tell you he is pretty fast.
He said. The only person I've ever seen outrun Anthony

(05:50):
Armstrong Jones is Conway Twooty and Haggard. That was enough
for him, he said, Conway out ran.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
He said, yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
He picked up the phone and called another room where
Bonnie is why I was asleep. Woke her up, said, Bonnie,
bring my track shoes down here. Theared the track shoes
and the starting pad and the whole thing. You're kidding
And they got out there and ran a put race.
Who ran finally Anthony Armstrong Jones and Haggard? Who who
was Anthony? Anthony won? I remember something about that. That's

(06:18):
that story. That's my story is ten years old. Oh yeah, Haggard, Haggard,
Merle Haggard. You know, I have never sat on your
show or or anywhere and picked a favorite artist, and
I still wouldn't because there's too many things involved, you know,
but certainly, uh, this this guy is one of the
very best they ever come down the package. A great songwriter,

(06:39):
he's a fantastic singer, and he's just he got it all.
I think you're right.

Speaker 8 (06:54):

all right.

Speaker 2 (07:01):

I see the fall in snow.

Speaker 8 (07:50):
If I knows how, I've been working hard, wanted Christmas
to be right.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
But that is girl.

Speaker 8 (08:01):
I don't mean the head December. It's meant to be
the happy time of year, and my little girl don't
understand why Daddy can affording no Christmas skill. If we

(08:24):

All right?

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Well, dingling? Yeah, dingling?

Speaker 14 (18:53):
Well?

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Twity Bird asked me that same question. You know who's dingling?
And well, off in the distance, you can hear these
these uh this bell ringing the bells, and one of
them really is out of tune, you know, it's just dinging.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Along in there.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
And then twenty Birds says, that doesn't sound like silver
bells to me, and I said, well, it's not. It's
it's it's the jingle bells, and he said, well, one
of them sounds kind of out of tune. I said, well,
that's Dingling. And I said, well, let me tell you
the story about Dingling the Christmas bell. And this is
the story of Dingling.

Speaker 8 (19:21):
Right, you don't see this change yours fresh?

Yeah, I hear it, But it's sure silver bells to me. Well,
it's not.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
It's the jingle bell one of them. Yeah, I know
that's Dingle.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
Well listen, I'll tell you the story of Dingling, one
of the world famous jingle bells. Gather around and I
will tell the story of a Christmas bell who used.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
To shine and chiming rings and why they.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Called him Dingling, one of the famous jingle bells. It's
what he was until he felled and broke his pretty.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Harmony and he began to reht.

Speaker 12 (20:47):
Now they called him Dingling because he has a morning ring.
It doesn't it his not too well?

Speaker 6 (21:01):
The other bells met secretly, and he heard one saying
in a real low key sure to roin our Christmas signing.
He overheard their secret boat and walked away with little
lump in his note, the saddest bell I've ever seen.

Speaker 12 (21:28):
They call him Dingling because he has a piney ring.
It doesn't get his note too well.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
The snow was falling in the square when the children
found him there and placed him on the Christmas tree.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
For everyone in town to see.

Speaker 6 (22:09):
As Christmas Eve came to the town, the blinding snow
was coming down. Dingling heard someone say.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Old Santa is sure to lose his way.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
The thought occurred the dingling the ring as loud as
he could ring, and when Old Santa heard the sound.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
It guided him into the town.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Ding Christmas.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Where the expression comes from when somebody is not rowing
with both oars and the water. He's a dingling or
flaky person.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
Yeah, a little bit out of step.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Will everything else right? That is part of our continuing
tour through Toyland Town. Here at the North Pole, and
you've heard Conway Twitty and Dingling the Christmas bell. Now
