Speaker 1 (00:09):
Welcome into episode number twenty six of The Right Stuff,
a bloodball podcast. Russy by Empire, games coming out, sometimes, lovely,
always trash.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Talking Anderson, South Carolina.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
I'm Yanny here with Nathan and we actually get to
talk about our own games since.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Week Oh yeah, yeah, I think seventy the podcast will
be us recapping our games possibly.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
I mean, it's been so long since we got to
do it. You gotta get them in when you can.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Oh, for sure, we actually have. I think we have
more than a week's worth of games to report on.
But the league is still backed up like a little bit.
It's just it's kind of lurching forward, stumbling, bumbling forward.
We're like technically halfway through the league, but it doesn't
feel that way because there's like some makeup games that
(00:59):
need to be played still. But at least there was
some decent progress towards that this time around.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Yeah, a lot of people are getting their games in
at a solid pace, which we definitely appreciate.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
It gives us content to talk about.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yeah, but it was kind of disorienting a little bit
hearing some people last night talking about, Oh, I'm playing
out the rest of my season because I only have
five games left, and it's like, oh wow, yeah, it's
really creeping up on people.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
I think, yeah, I've got six games remaining. My game
against Warren will be this Saturday, which is like a
few days away depending on when you listen to this,
and after that, I like, we still have to play
somewhere in there. Yeah, we're on a collision course. And
(01:47):
I mean like when I initially was writing notes for
this a couple of days ago, there were like eight
games played between when I was writing notes in this,
and I was thinking about how like one division as
like a clear front runner, and then that like completely
changed by the time the dust settled on several games. Right,
(02:09):
So there's a lot of blood ball still left to
be played. I think you can make some inferences. And
that's kind of what our discussion topic today is is
talking about like a potential playoff picture as it develops
from here.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
So yeah, and of course, given the way that making
predictions work, everything we say will be immediately proven wrong.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah, exactly. So you know, blub ball has a has
a tendency to do that. You can't you can't talk
in absolutes. You can always talk in what happened, because
there's so much variation.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Absolutely okay, So we got catch up games to catch
up on. Starting with a week four game, we had
Renegades of Funk and rat Patui as a two to
one win for those cast Renegades and Shot seem is
starting to get to that scary point. So we did
not see from our previous league with Casernagade's.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Obviously that was a fresh start league.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
You had to have a chance to build up those players.
But starting out with the three block plan, it seems
to be working out for Sean now.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Yeah, and the Pro and the rat Ogre is really scary.
I watched in the game that rat Ogre used Pro
literally every turn and it did something for the rat Ogre.
So it Pro is like so good and those big guys,
and I think he's at a spot where he can
put Pro on the other two big guys if he wanted,
And I would tend to lean in that direction because
(03:40):
I think the the Renegade team falls down on its
face in those turns where you have multiples of your
big guys that you really need to activate not activate,
and Pro cuts those you know, those activations, those non activations,
pro cancels those out quite a bit, and you have
(04:02):
the upside of like pro being partially tackle because it
gets you a reroll on a block. You know, there's
there's things that pro does for players. If you're trying
to throw teammate, you could pro the throw teammate role. Right,
there's a lot that pro gives those big guys. And
(04:24):
he's certainly knocking on the door of the team being
really ruthless. Now, this was Christian's first game in the league,
so welcome aboard Christian. He was kind of puppeted by
me and wand during that game because he is like
fresh fresh, but talking to him, he's certainly interested in
(04:44):
getting better. I recommended him some like like the art
of blocking and stuff like that to read, and so
it looks like he wants to study up on the
game and get better at it. And it's one of
those where you know, we coached him through a couple
turns and he's playing Skavin into a team and had
like three mighty blows, So we didn't want him to
(05:05):
just get tabled. There was a really funny instance in
the game where I was explaining, like, yes, you can
stand those line rats up me personally, I would dodge
away from the ogre in the troll here because I
don't I wouldn't want my guys getting hit by them again.
And he was like, you know what, I'm gonna stand
them up and I'm just gonna let him sit there.
(05:26):
And then both of the next the blocks from those
two big guys just casually both of those rats, and
I was like, Okay, this was a lesson, you know, like,
this is Bloodball teaching you a lesson here. Just take
it to heart. You know, that's not gonna happen every time.
But still, it's one of those where you had a
and and one of those was definitely the Mighty Blow
(05:53):
because it was a seven on the armor brake that
got put to an eight and then turned into a casualty.
And so it's one of those where I was like,
if you had dodged away and you fell over and
he rolls a seven, you're totally fine. Your guy's just
on the ground, unhurt.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
So yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean that's like a two
to one, like scoring in your first game.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
I would take that as I would too. Yeah, for sure,
for sure. Yeah. I think he's I mean, he's got
a lot to learn, obviously, and he's Blood Bowls kind
of a marathon as far as like knowledge goes, right,
and he's starting today against people who've been running this
marathon for twenty something years. So you know, I think
I think he's shown a lot of promise, and I
(06:34):
hope he's got some fun that he can extract from
these games, right, because some of them might. I think
a good chunk, a good chunk of the games are
probably gonna go this way where he probably doesn't have
the experience. And he was rolling terrible on armor breaks.
The rat Ogre could not break armor for him, and
it was something like I watched the rat rig Or
(06:54):
knock somebody down like six turns in a row with
zero armor breaks against armor nine, right, and that's bad.
That's just bad luck on your part.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
So yeah, all right, Well Week five games.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
This is one of my catchup games I played against
the Soul Peak Dooms last night. As this recording, this
was a little bit out of sequence from the other
games that I played. I have played my Week seven
game before this, which gave me some slight edits to
(07:27):
the team that I ended up making, just based on
the amounts that I was getting As far as inducements.
I decided I was going to take two skills and
then get a keg on top of that. So going
into the game, I had Leader to give me a
third reroll and Dirty Player on a line woman, which
(07:51):
was very important for this game. I was going in
with eleven players. I actually had bought two line women
to have eleven just fully roster, no journeyman. And Jack's
team was he has like a full roster, so he
has sixteen.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Yeah, I saw that. That was one of those things.
I like to look at his roster and I was like,
he is this bad boy slapstopper of roof, can fit
so many zombies in here?
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Yes, yes, the game was tonight that skeletons came to life.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
I always I always liked skeletons slightly more than zombies
when I was playing Shambling. I think that puts me
in the minority, but I really valued the extra point
of speed.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Right, Yeah, yeah, I could see. I could definitely see that.
I've only played one Shambling game I played with zombies.
I want to try one with skeletons and see it.
But yeah, going into the game, I was eleven versus fifteen,
so my primary goal in that game was I want
to keep drives going as long as possible, as long
as my people are not dying, because I think like
(08:51):
a way to really get in trouble in that game is,
you know, like we have like a quick drive, we
each like a peel one of the other's players, and
then I'm setting up with ten, he's still setting up
with eleven, right, and then even if I appeal like
two more and he gets another one, it's like eleven
to nine.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Yeah. Or another doomsday scenario is like a weather change
into like sweltering heat, right, and then you're having to
field like seven eight people into eleven the whole game, right,
just because he's got such a deep bench, and you
also don't want a scenario where he's like incentivized to
(09:28):
start fouling you, right where you start trading your bench
spots for your quality players.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
So Jack won the dirol elected to receive, and my
plan at that point was like I'm going to be
very defensive. I'm not making any inroads into his side
of the field. I was like, I'm just gonna sit back.
I'll take a blitz a turn or whatever it is,
and I'm just gonna sit back on the line, He'll
(09:55):
get like one hit on me, and then whenever he
crosses over midfield, then I'm gonna make the decision of
like if we're rumbling, if I'm trying to get the ball,
or if I'm just gonna let him score and try
to try to like equalize before the half. So I
end up actually getting super lucky. I knock out a
ghoul on the first turn because I'm able to get
(10:18):
around the corner and sort of frenzy it into the
middle of a bunch of players with my one frenzy line.
Woman falls down, run over with the dirty player and
kick it in the face, and a couple turns in
jack and runs down the side. He like runs down
the sideline when he does cross over the field, and
he makes sort of a halfcage with the second bloge goal.
(10:45):
The ball was on one of his other bloge goal
and then had a zombie and then the white that
does not have frenzy came over on that side as.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Well, So.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
I end up deciding, Okay, I can fight for the
ball here. I go in set up a blitz on
one of the goals to try to set up for
a friends he pushed.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
The next turn, am.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Able to push the goal out and then the ball
flies back into his backfield and I just have more
open players. At that point, I'm able to run over
gud the ball and then just run out the half
and score n turn eight. Going into the second half,
I'm receiving and then my plane is like, I'm just
gonna sit here and just kind of hold the ball
(11:32):
in the backfield and not turn it over. This is
basically my goal, So I just want to run it out.
I have eleven players, he has eleven players. I'm just
gonna if I can get a numbers advantage. I'm just
incentivized to just like not score or turn anything over.
(11:52):
So when he sets up on the line, he sets
a zombie on the line two squares away from the sideline,
and I'm like, okay, well there is my first removal.
So I set up to block it out with frenzy
line women. I'm able to do that on the first turn,
so I'm up a player.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
He ends up.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Surfing that player on a five plus dodge and a
one divelog with a ghoul, and.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Then the second turn, I.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Get a casualty with a line woman and then foul
someone else out, So over the course of like the
first six turns, I averaged a player per turn.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
In the second half of just.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Like removing people, I was able to get the ball
in a jaguar early and that was basically I think
that was kind of what sealed it because the mummies
were too far apart to do anything.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
One of the whites had injured.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Itself and the end of the first half on a
push and fell over and did not regenerate, so it
was just out for the game.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
And I think that like the lack of a block.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Piece to really hit with, yeah, just really cause a
bunch of problems, like his ice were not like particularly
good just because of the fact that he had four
instances of block on the team.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
You don't really want to blitz with a ghoul when.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
I have so much tackle and mighty blow around, Like,
there's just so many ways that could go poorly for you. Yeah,
And then the mummies not having block meant there were
lots of pushes.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Right, so you got to get three dice to have
like a halfway decent shot at it. And if you
don't have block, then you know, blitzing with somebody without
block gets a little scary and you end up eating
it in your rerolls. Yeah, that's I think it's like
a traditional Amazon shambling style. I always when playing Amazon's
(13:45):
and tournament play into shambling, I always feel pretty good
because they just don't have enough tackle and I'm not
scared of zombies. The Ghules, you know, they're they're decent players,
but like you get to Negate mummies quite a bit,
and a lot of other teams don't have that option.
(14:05):
You can kind of dance around the mummies even if
they've got guard or whatever. You know, you've got defensive. Yeah,
there are lots of times where your pon it just
really can't get the dice to line up the way
they need it to, so they have to roll out
of their mind or if they're rolling average, you're coming
out way ahead in the block math.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
So yeah, that was kind of that was like how
I was looking at the game kind of in hindsight,
was that it was when I was reviewing them ahead
and like it was just like a mismatch as far
as like the skill loadouts on the players.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
I mean, you have you probably have like one hundred
SPP on them, right because you carried your team over
to probably, So yeah, I mean I can I can
see I can see that game going really wrong for
the shambling side.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
I think it's like, yeah, when you're like when you
don't have any tackle, like any tackle on the team
and you're going to or even like wrestle, right like
Russell would have been helpful, but like not having any
of that into a team, like I think you Yeah,
if you're rolling average, you're still a huge disadvantage exactly.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Yeah, it was a two winny.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Every time somebody. Every time I like advocate for two
tackle on a tournament list, my punts are like, oh,
you're sure you need to tackle, and I'm like, man,
the matchups you need to tackle, you need it, like
like you need it, Like okay, the Amazon player knocks
your tackle piece over and fouls it with droole, right,
like what are you gonna do? Then? You know, play
(15:36):
continue playing with zero tackle.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
So yeah, yep, yeah, but overall like a wild game,
like I was glad to get the back.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Game in, like get some more league games.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
So yeah, it's good.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Week six games we had Darn Tutin and the Barbarians.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Darn Tutin got a two oz win.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
I took care of business there, I'd say, right, like,
I apparently got a bunch of his own goblins hurt
in that game. Yeah, looked like play Yeah failed dodges.
Uh so I think the game was one oh, and
I was going for a one turn score using Conan
(16:18):
and the throw. The throw is good, like he gets
the handoff the throw teammate is good to get him
into the backfield. He lands in a not great spot.
But he lands, he has to make like three go
for its and like two pushes or something like sorry,
three dodges and two go for its to score or
(16:40):
something like based off of like where it ended up.
And apparently the third dodge failed and he injured himself.
At that point, you're out like one hundred and fifty
k goblin or whatever that Conan costs. And then I
think from there Urgan just disassembles you.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
So, yeah, you don't have that that threat. I'm looming
like you're gonna be in a rough spot. Yeah, continue
the continue the streak of domination from the store of Team.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Yeah, yeah, it won't. It won't continue for the rest
of the podcast, though. It's a little bit of teasing
upcoming results.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
So fair enough, yeah, all right, I'll actually a Slaarhuse
eleven and the Wretched Foul Fangs.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Yeah, that's your game. Yeah all right. So this the
first note that I wrote. This game reminded me that
not every opponent is going to high role when they
play against me. Joel I think failed his first three
dodges of this game, okay, and so it was one
of those things where I would go to bases guys,
(17:50):
and I have like a ridiculous strength advantage in this matchup,
right because of the blood Seekers and I'm like fighting
in the goblins. So he just really out outside of
the rat ocre, he really doesn't have good blocks that
he can throw in this matchup. Otherwise it's like two
and three assists to get to the point where he
can actually hit one of my guys back, and so
(18:12):
that usually involves him having to make like a dodge
right this game, it felt so different playing against Underworld
without Swarming, because I think this is the first time
I've played against them since they lost swarming versus when
they had swarming, because like when they had swarming, there
was always extra bodies to go around, and this time around,
(18:35):
you take a couple people off the pitch and suddenly
like that team is scrambling for their lives. Well, so,
since he failed so many dodges early in turns, I
just got like a bunch of hits on him, and
my armor breaks were pretty soft in the first half,
but I had like this wicked double surf where I
(18:58):
moved one of my guys around and that cut off
an avenue so that I could like push his blitzer
into his rat ogre into Bomber that was on the
sideline and serve him, and then Frenzy follow up push
the blitzer into the rat ogre and serf it at
the same time. And so I was able to just
stall out the whole first half because after the blitzer
(19:22):
was on the sideline, I had like a blitz into
him and serve him. So in one in like two
successive activations, Bomber, the ratigre, and the blitzer were all gone.
And at that point nothing on the table threatens me,
and so I just had my players just chasing his
around the board beating some stuff up, and he still
(19:42):
had eleven to play defense with. None of my crowd
surfs actually resulted in removal, so they all went to
the reserves and so he sets up on offense, and
we're gonna paint this picture, and as I paint the
picture here, you'll understand what occurred in the game. So
(20:04):
he I'm kicking to him in the second half, he
sets Bomber up in kind of like a forward position,
and I did like my typical anti bomb defense where
I just put everybody two spaces away from everybody else.
And so he gets the ball and he runs over
to one side of the pitch and he, you know,
he like starts building. I could screen around these guys,
(20:25):
and I just full court press after after he like
draws his positions, there's a full court press. I blitz
somebody out of the way of Bomber, and then I
go base Bomber with two people, and I just send
the house after him. I base virtually everything I can
(20:47):
and then have like a couple of people waiting in
the wings. And on the following turn, he like uses
his rat ogre to knock one of the guys off
a bomber. And so with frenzy, the follows up next
to Bomber and he blitzes his blitzer around and knocks
the other guy off a bomber. So Bomber can now
throw a bomb towards like a cluster of my people
(21:14):
to try to get them out of the way, and
he'd move the snotling up so that the rat ogre
could punch the snotling if it wild animal. So sitting
next to Bomber is a his blitzer, his rat ogre,
and a snotlingk and Bomber rolls a one and fails
the loner check on the bomb, detonates himself, knocks over
(21:34):
the blitzer, knocks over the rat ogre. The snotling is
the only one standing, because that's of course it is,
and and that just like opens the door for me
to just slap his whole team out of the way
and send the crazy Teeth after his ball carrier who
knocks the ball loose. And at that point he's playing
(21:57):
from behind the whole time. So it was one of
those games where he just like rolled terribly at awful times,
and that translated into me just kind of running away
with the game. His rat ogre did not break armor
with claws, and now it wasn't It was barely in
(22:22):
play in the first half because I like took pains
to surf it. I couldn't take his rat ogre out
of the game, even though I knocked it down several
times in the second half, but it would just like
stand up boots when of my guys then failed to
break armor, and so then I would knock it over
and then you just rent and repeat that a bunch
while the ball is just safe some other corner of
(22:43):
the of the pitch. And yeah, so I kind of
I kind of ran away with that game, and yeah
it was it was like the worst my opponent has
rolled all season. So thanks Joel, I appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Right, Well, that's gonna do it for our cash up
games this week. Now we're going to actual Week seven
games someone's we were expecting. We got Lookie rat Basters
and the Metropolitan Dumpster Rats was a draw too.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Barbie was actually very close to going up two in
this game. She got the first touchdown and she rolled
a blitz on Austin's ensuing kickoff. Now, both Austin and
Barbie did not know that the ball isn't on the
ground during the blitz, so I had to repair the
(23:38):
game state there because she had tried to pick it
up with a gutter under and then run the other
way with it, which would be sick if you could
do that, but there's a reason you can't. Yeah, and
so but she was like on the goal I think
she feeled like a go for it or something on
the following turn to score. And so the ball was
(24:00):
on like Austin's goal line for like the back half
of the first half, and Austin managed to do like
a hand off to this thrower who passed it to
a blitzer and did like two go forwards to score
or something to tie it up at the half, and
then he was in like such a good position. He
(24:21):
was like caged up on Barbie's goal line. Barbie managed
to push him into the end zone and they were
like what happens here? I was like, well, Dustin loses
his turn because they didn't know how that worked, and
so Barbie pushed his guy into the end zone, forced
the touchdown, Austin lost a turn, and then she was
(24:43):
able to score to tie the game up. So kind
of like a very interesting game there, and one I
think they both learned a lot of like some of
those more niche rules, the ones that come up every
single game. So yeah, I mean I would consider that
(25:03):
like a pretty good game.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Yeah, next we got the Running Gates of Funk and
Realm Gate Marauders, the two on win for Sean.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
It's three to one, right, three one, my bye, insane
it might.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Be, but I mean you can still be right here.
I don't know if that'll actually.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
Yeah, it's three one three one. Yeah, your gien amount
of a touchdown now. So Fred took a lot of
injuries on tour play, and I have to wonder if
Fred was getting his guy surfed accidentally or if he
was just like making dodges or something.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
Yeah, from what I heard of Fred, he said his
dice were not cooperating.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
Yeah, I could see that, right, Like, uh, I mean
if you're in one of those scenarios where the correct
play is dodge away from the big guy, and you
fail your dodge and your guy gets removed from the game,
then uh yeah it can That probably feels really bad, right,
making the right call and then still getting punished, like
(26:06):
excessively punished for it.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Mhm yeah, yeah, I think we'll ablos.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
We'll talk more about another one of Friends games later,
But after this one, he was kind of like, yeah,
feeling like he's just kind of right out the rest
of the season.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Yeah, and then it was longing for saving.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
With all these s gaving players, man to take a
season off of scaving, the crawling right back, crawling right
back into the rat hole.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Yeah, all right.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Up next we got crawling off of the pitch into
the hospital beds. Tysho Karon Little Titans of Mam say
two five. This was a drubbing.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
This was a series of games for Chris. I'll tell
you that if you think if you thought the Startling
matchup went sideways, just wait.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
Yes, yeah, five to two.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
Yeah, five touchdowns for us.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
It's absurd. Something something went real wrong here. Uh. And
I'm I'm pretty sure Wan scored five touchdowns to make
me a liar because I was talking to somebody and
I said, like, if you can score two touchdowns versus
Snotlings at the at the very best they'll do is
(27:21):
they'll draw you, right, So that this was clearly one's
answer to that, me talking trash on the Snotling offensive machine.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Yeah, I think I will.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
What I will say is that of the teams, I
think that conversation was more in specific context to chase
his team, Yeah, into some way chase plays, which I
think there's a chance that could be true with Chase
his team, but Wan's team is constructed in a way
where he can score.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
A little bit better.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
He's got the sty he's got the.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Stilty runners with like movement up.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
Yeah, so he actually can score from pretty far away, right,
because this thing's just half sprint naturally, right, So it's
like they can with a moving out, they can move
ten squares.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
That's yeah, right, right, that'll cover a lot of distance.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
But yeah, just bodying of a game.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Yeah, it's gotta be brutal for for Chris for sure.
I mean, I guess he didn't take like a ton
of casualties. He only took three injuries in that game.
But still, uh yeah, I mean, I five touchdowns is wild.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Next we got, if you're a fan of defensive games,
will probably be more your speed. Those who wonder and
darn touton it was a draw one one, so the.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Yeah, the Jurregon streak has comeing in.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Yes, both holding people scoreless and wins.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
So yeah, he gave up. He finally gave up a touchdown.
I guess he's washed.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
I guess it's all over at this point.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
It's over. It's just the the Hurregon self deprecating grim
fatalism can take over.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Yeah, I don't think we even need to talk about
it for the playoff picture write it off.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Yeah, I mean I don't know that Jurgen broke armor
against Will Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
Yeah, from I think we were saying he had a
shot to like go up the end, like there were
a lot of roles that had to happen, but he
still had a chance to like possibly pull out the wind,
which would have been an even bigger upset. Yeah, just
from like the game. He's also saying it's.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Just very boring, right right, so not very Yeah, Armor
ten dudes hitting each other. Yeah, like Armor ten dudes
with block hitting each other. Right, So half the time
you don't even go down, and then half the time
you do hit the ground. I mean it's more than
half the time, right, It's like seventy five percent of
the time you hit the ground, you're still fine, You're
(29:54):
still in one piece.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
So yeah, all right, last game for leg Day Division four,
Week seven was I would say this is an upset
Tryhards over the Gondolin Gloryhounds two.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Oh yeah. I think the note that I put here
is that it looked like ness was indeed try harding.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
Yeah, I walked out and saw a snippet of this game.
And when I walked out, and looked like it was
in the second half at least, there was like a
little of a tour Play.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
Mix up somewhere in there, because it looks like it
ended the first half with no one scoring, which seemed
fairly like something you would normally expect from a gym game,
like holding off someone on defense.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
But then the touchdown got added, like okay.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
So yeah, and then we clearly need to have an
episode on how to use tour Play. Yes, I had
an episode on how to charge cell phones?
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Also true.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
So and then when I walked out, it looked like
had the ball and he was kind of separated. He
could set up a mild screen, but not enough to
really secure the ball, especially against the team that NASA's built.
So it was like a lot of people were just
like scrummed up on one side of the pitch, and
then on the other there was like a high off
(31:19):
of the ball and like two other highles. I could
kind of help, but not enough to protect the ball.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
So it looks like the ball got popped out somewhere.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Yeah, right, and it goes the other way. I do
like the tiny bit of revenge that GYM got by
giving a movement down to the four strength which elf
who had a movement up?
Speaker 2 (31:41):
Yea.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Thus, I mean it would be like, I imagine an
injury that just removed a random skill from your player. Like,
imagine how much that would suck.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Yeah, it would be pretty pretty.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
So now you're paying like a twenty K penalty to
keep this player on the team, but you can't cut it.
It's four strength which elf. Right, you know it's I said,
it wasn't quite the same thing. It's killing at thirty
spp were Wolf, but it probably felt good in the
moment at least.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Right, Yeah, it's something you're fine with. Let's see next
Total Body Envision. As we've got a couple of games
we're getting we're getting more in the rhythm of things
catching up. So first one up is Arbor Vitae and
slur House eleven.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Oh yeah, So the first note that I wrote for
this one was the hack needs saying for a game
like this is a tale of two halves. So I
won the option to kick or receive, So I liketed
to kick the wing because we talked extensively about some
(32:41):
of our games, and he said, the games where my
opponent's kicked to me I'm forced to score and then
they just have the ball for the whole rest of
the game always don't work out well for me type
of thing. So I was like, all right, sounds fine,
I'll use that game plan. And then I had to
throw that game plan away because on turn two the
crazy Tea blitzed somebody rolled double skulls, passed, pro rolled
(33:05):
another skull, and then kaoted himself, so I literally didn't
have my star blitzer for the first half of the game.
I got one shot with him and then he kaoted himself,
and then shortly after that, Wayne fouled out my sure
Hands beast Man, and I was thinking to myself, this
(33:25):
game's a loss because I need the sure hands. I
need block god sure hands on my ball carrier to
keep the damn war dancers like in check. And sure
enough he fouled it out of the game. I used
my pothcare he got the same stupid result, and.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
So my.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Like, my star ball carrier is gone. I'm missing like
four hundred and fifty k worth of players right now,
right like I'm missing legitimately a third of my team
and so I have to play. I can't force him
to score. I managed to force him a score on
turn seven, which gave me two turns to try, and
like the only way I could get a touchdown was
(34:06):
like a six up pass into the end zone. I
failed that, So I was not optimistic about the second half.
And I got the crazy teeth back on the second
KO role, and so I think I like get like
(34:29):
a Ko or something on like the first turn. I
forget exactly where my KOs are in this game. But
Wayne was setting up with defense with eleven. I believe
I did casualty a player in the first half, and
I think he had twelve for the game, So I
think I get like a Ko on my line hits.
(34:50):
I ended up with like two blood Seekers tied up
with the tree, which was not like my goal only
ever one in one. I do have to shout out
the prayer to Enougher roll iron Man on the initial
kickoff of the game. The I win iron Man and
I have my skillless blood Seeker. He's lined up his
(35:14):
tree with that blood Seeker. So I put iron Man
on that blood Seeker right because it's it's I send
that guy to eleven armor because it's against the only
Mighty Blue player on his team, So Turm one, he
takes root on the tree and knocks that guy down
but doesn't break armor. I think he rolls a nine,
(35:36):
and so the Mighty Blow sends it to ten. But
that's not enough to get to the iron Man total.
And so in the second half, the tree Man spikes
a twelve on that blood Seeker and breaks his armor,
and then like a two turns, he stands up and
the tree Man knocks him down again and rolls a nine.
(35:58):
And then the next turn the tree Man knocks him
down again and rolls another nine. So iron Man stopped
three different armor breaks on the blood Seeker I think
during the course of that game. So anyway, that was
like a funny anecdote from the game. I don't think
it really mattered for the game that much, but it
(36:20):
was a really funny thing that happened. So Wayne kicks
it like deep into my backfield. I have to go
send like a skillless I think I use like a
block beast man as like my ball returner, So I
have to send a beast man back there. It like
almost lands in my end zone, so I have to
like spend five movement to go back there pick it up.
(36:42):
I maybe it did land in my n zone something
like that, and so my beast Man is like one
square away from my end zone. I have like one
marauder back there officies ref stunned somebody else that I
could have put in the vicinity of it. And so
I have like two people in my backfield. And then
Wayne sends like three what elves just back there, including
(37:05):
both war dancers and like a wrestle dodge guy, and
so I don't really like that board position at all,
and so I do get like my tackle corn Gore
and one of my other like my guard blood Seeker
(37:26):
back there, and I base those elves. I move the
beast Man up and it hands it off to the
marauder I had in the backfield, and I managed to
tuck that marauder around nestled in between like the blood
Spawn and guard and some other stuff and a couple
other people. And so Wayne goes for it, goes for
(37:50):
the ball and burns a couple of rerolls. He had
four rostered rerolls. He bought a reroll prior to the game,
and he had leaders. He had five rerolls, and I
was making him use at least a reroll a turn,
sometimes multiple, and just because of the way in the
(38:10):
second half for sure, because I had two instances of
tackle as opposed to just one. And so he bases
the Crazy Teeth with the wrestle dodge guy, blitzes the
ball carrier one die, pops the ball loose. It bounces
around for a bit, but lands in three of my
tackle zoones, and so he's not able to recover it.
(38:32):
And so I get to throw like a turn of
blocks against them, and this results in two casualties for
me taking out the wrestle dodge dude with the Crazy Teeth,
taking out somebody else with a blood seeker. I may
even get like a ko in there or something like that.
I think I had like several armor breaks that turn,
(38:52):
and I'm able to recover the ball get it further downfield.
He like burns some re rolls to get l's into position,
knocks the ball loose with stripball, but the marauder is
still standing. The ball lands in the hands of like
his sneaky get player, and so on the following turn,
(39:17):
I'm able to set up a block I knock down
the sneaky get guy. I think I ko him. The
ball pops loose. I recover it again, and at this
point his team was just like shattered. Now I couldn't
ever get the thrower off the pitch and the stupid
(39:38):
war Dancer, the strip ball war Dancer had Will was
watching part of the game. Will said that ward Answer
had plot armor because there was like a three or
four turned span with that ward Ancer hit the ground
and some of those were like failed dodges, some of
those were failed leaps. Some of those were like the
blood spawn putting them on the ground, and I never
(40:00):
broke armor against it. But I was able to stall
out the rest of the half and then in the
game and a draw. If I had taken out the thrower,
I would have tried to go for the win, but
I don't like my chances of stopping Woodhels from scoring
in two turns if the thrower is alive. So there
(40:21):
you go. That's that recap there the second half, every
time I interacted with the ball, I made like a
dodge with like a blood seeker to get away from
the tree. Like it was one of those where if
I needed a role, it just happened, whereas in the
second in the first half of the game, like my
second block with the blood spawn is triple skulls and
(40:44):
he's keo, right, you know. So yeah, I don't know
bloodball hiving its game. It turns out, yeah, yes, it's us.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
Speaking of having its games, we got my game against Chase.
So this was a game that I was going into
where I was going to be happy with.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Any outcome that did not involve any of my good
players permanently.
Speaker 3 (41:11):
Dying, yeah, or like agility downs or strength downs.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
So I talked about it last week where I had
originally had game scheduled, was planning on overdogging Red Coolly
to try to mitigate some of the fouling. Those games
didn't happen. So I just went in with my team
as it was.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
And.
Speaker 2 (41:36):
It was a game. The game went pretty much just
how I needed it to. So kickoff.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
I don't think I've ever played against a snolling game
sniling team where that's happened to me at least, right,
Like even play desting snolling team just rolls me off
the table.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
Yeah, So I I went to kickoff elect to receive
because I'm like I am going to get away.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
From everybody on the line as quickly as possible, and
the kickoff event is his timeout, so I'm like, perfect,
this is great, one less turn of death and destruction
I have.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
To worry about. So the first couple of turns go fine.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
I'm able to take a blitz on the first turn,
just like casually stiling, So I'm like, okay, this is
like start. If I just do this, you know, every
turn I'll eventually kill off Stolings to be fine. The
biggest moral victory for me was I threw the first
doles of a game, so that was that was a
(42:36):
win in my book. I have to score on like
turn five because he had the fungus flinger, and it
was like the I had like retreated backwards a good
bit at the start of the drive to trying to
like make it so that he was gonna have to
(42:59):
kind of follow me in. And then I had like
the eighth speed blister that could run around and get away.
My main thing was trying to bait morg or Veragg
to go far enough into where I could run past
it and not have to worry about.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
Him being able to catch up.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
And I was able to do that eventually, and I
think one of the big turning points of the game
was after scoring that touchdown, he went to argue the
call for the fungus.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
Flinger rolled a three.
Speaker 1 (43:26):
He's like, okay, well, I'm gonna use a bribe, which
he had bought two in the game. It's like, I'm
gonna use a bribe.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
Roll the one.
Speaker 1 (43:32):
It's like, I'm gonna use the second bribe, rolled another one.
So at that point I'm like, okay, well, bribes are gone,
the fling gone.
Speaker 2 (43:40):
Fling is gone.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
I'm like, okay, this is the Like, honestly, the flinga
is the problem, Like the bombers of the problem for
Amazon's because the skills on snotlings aren't a problem for you, right,
they don't have tackle. But the problem is the bombers
get free armor breaks against you and your armor eight right,
and your skills don't do anything.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
Yeah. The bomb is like suit oh tackle, it's like
a four plus.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
It's an extra blitz yeah, and it sets up a foul.
Speaker 2 (44:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (44:06):
So I had to score on turn five, was a
little bit earlier than I wanted to, but I just
couldn't afford to like stall out because a bunch of
stuff was threatening to get put on the ground and fouled,
so I scored on five, and then he proceeds to
kill two players and back to back turns fouls with Hafe.
Hafe eventually gets caught and sent off. I'm able to
(44:29):
prevent him from scoring at the end of the first half,
and in the second half, I'm setting up with I
forget very few players and might have Yeah, that's probably
it was probably like six. The game ends, I have
four players on the pitch before the before the fifth
player disappears, I he had run the ball down, and
(44:54):
my plan at this point I was like, I'm up one. Oh,
I don't really care if he ties it whatever, Like
I'm not probably not gonna be able to score with
five players, just logistically, so I'm like, my plan was
to run a Piranha in to blitz the snotling that
(45:14):
was carrying the ball, hoping the ball just kind of
like ping pongs around, bounces to a square within one
tackle zone, and I'm like, I still have my rerolls.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
I'm gonna dodge out with my thrower pick it up
like I'm sure hands, I'm like whatever.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
Like I was just like hopefully get a coin flip
in my favorite in with a reroll and then dodge
out and just punt the ball down the field to
where he can't get it in time.
Speaker 2 (45:38):
And maybe there's a chance I have a player loose
that can run for it.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
Instead of what happens is I hit the snotling, I
get to block it down and then the ball bounces
to the Piranha who catches it on a four and
then hit and runs out and then gets to like
dodge up the side, like gets to run up the sideline.
Varag Moore could not catch her at that point, so
being able to just kind of retreat and then score on.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
To sixteen to get a two zero win.
Speaker 1 (46:07):
So yep, I would say sorry for the excellent roles,
but I don't apologize to stunt.
Speaker 3 (46:13):
Yeah. I don't know players either.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
Yeah, I mean, I think the funniest part was Chase mentioning.
At one point he said, my average died roll is
about a five point five. As I rolled and revealed another.
Speaker 3 (46:24):
Five, Yeah, he was like, well, let's breaking the average down.
Speaker 1 (46:28):
I think that's just the thing of Sunty players. I
think you're very like Saunty players in general. You roll
so many dice. You're very conscious of dice rolls.
Speaker 3 (46:39):
It's the same thing with vampires. Yeah, and you roll
so many dice with vampires that you know there's gonna
be a string of one somewhere in that game.
Speaker 2 (46:46):
Yeah. Also power of bloggers against the more against More
and veragg like, you can't you can't really induce tacklers
with that Siling team.
Speaker 3 (46:56):
So yeah, you can't.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
You don't.
Speaker 3 (46:58):
So there are like interesting plays you can make with
other teams where you can like hire a mercenary and
then give them the tackle skill, right, And that might
be the correct call against Amazons sometimes, but if you
don't have any player who can take general skills, you
can't do that, right, So yeah, yeah, And there's no
(47:21):
I mean really, there's no good tackle stars in bad
Land Brawl, right, and their tackler is Bamba. Yeah right?
Speaker 1 (47:30):
So yeah, right, two more games in week seven, we've
got Second Act and the Necromantic State hell Hounds, a
three to two win for Jennings.
Speaker 3 (47:42):
The note here was there's nothing so dangerous as a
man with nothing to lose. Jennings is telling me that
Halen was playing was just making some in SAE plays,
but he was just rolling the heat. To back it up.
He apparently had multiple six plus passes from blitzers to
other players and so Haleen was up to one in
(48:05):
this game. Now he had lost so many players that
Jenks was able to like score and then take the
ball and score again to win it three to two.
But he was knocking on the door of a loss here.
Jennings was so.
Speaker 1 (48:21):
Yeah times and finally we got Colburn catastrophe one to
zero win over the wolf Pack. I feel like this
has been like a fairly common score for games against Warren.
Speaker 3 (48:33):
Yeah, like you're just stuck in a scrum.
Speaker 2 (48:36):
Yeah you can't.
Speaker 1 (48:37):
You're able to like eke out one score and then
you're able to do like just enough to keep him
from scoring.
Speaker 3 (48:42):
Yeah, And this game was played in the sweltering heat,
so I think Warren took some losses in the first half.
I have no idea what happened. There was a picture
in the discord at one point where the there was
like barely any players on the pitch.
Speaker 2 (48:58):
I think it was they had one full team between them,
thin like sixty five.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
So yeah, So I mean normally to her play, there's
like KOs that aren't accounted for and so, yeah, I
mean it looked like, uh, it looked like what happens
if you know to not particularly agility teams or slugging
it out ten armor, bad agility, slugging it out midfield,
(49:27):
sweltering heat that I don't expect more than like a
one to oh with these with these conditions.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
And play all right. We did have a trio of
Week eight games that have already happened.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
First one is probably the best one to talk about,
Tychokiron and titled Terrors say one to one draw.
Speaker 2 (49:46):
Yeah, and I am honestly shocked at that result.
Speaker 3 (49:50):
Yeah. The the question to ask here is can a
draw feel like a loss? The answer is yes, right,
like sometimes you know, like I should easily win the
game in this position. And then another thing that I had,
another question I wanted to ask was can you take
nine injuries in a game and still feel like you won?
(50:11):
So I feel like Chris probably walks away from this
with a draw thinking like, you know, he's the Boris,
the bullet dodger from Snatch. He's like you miss, you know,
it's just it's completely full of holes, full of boath holes,
and it's like, no, you didn't get me. I got
(50:34):
a recap from Clay to read through. So he couldn't
score in the first half due defrouction in against with
diving tackle and like jumping around on the pitch, but
he didn't injure nine players, plus he had some knockouts
and his dice were rolling hot on murder. Working. Theory
is that they got a buff for Shark week. He
(50:55):
forced an early score in the second and scored back
in the second half of a draw, but doesn't feel
like wrong. And he wanted to point out that both
Clay and Chris's croxigors match with agility down. Yeah, so
it's pretty funny.
Speaker 1 (51:09):
Yeah, when you get your it's the mental image of
dribble running up and just like kicking a crocsigore in
the head until it just like loses its balance like something.
You're just like giving him like some sort of like
permanent injury. It's very funny. Uh, But yeah, I definitely
(51:30):
would say, like if I was in a class position here,
like the sometimes the slam, I mean that was like
one of the things with slam, right, It's.
Speaker 3 (51:38):
Like sometimes he explodes.
Speaker 2 (51:40):
Yeah, if you have.
Speaker 1 (51:43):
The extra skills on your players, all those skills you
start with just get unlocked. Yeah, so it's gonna be tough,
and they can just randomly do things like similar to
what else, right, what else?
Speaker 2 (51:56):
Being able to jump in ward, answers, do crazy things.
You got a team full of people to.
Speaker 3 (52:00):
Ye, I have still firmly believed that Land is like
one of the craziest teams at like the two hundred
spp plus level. Right. The getting to that level I
think is the hard part because you you start a
lot of players start with like an awesome third or
(52:20):
fourth skill, but they start with it, and so you're
missing the generic skills that make you like extremely deadly.
And without those skills, there's gonna be games where your
opponents are just beating you relentlessly because you don't have
the wrestles, the block, the dodge starting that keep your
(52:41):
players alive and so something like and and it really
feels like Clay unlocked the potential dribble and droll of
this game, right because this is yet another player who
hasn't discovered how great they are until they play it
and then just start getting plus two fouls on people
a turn, and then they're like, I don't have a
(53:03):
team like my opponent doesn't have a team left, you know.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
So.
Speaker 1 (53:09):
We had round Gate Marauders and the Gondolin glory Hounds.
It's a two one win for Gym, kind of a
bounce back game after the Nests.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
Upsets.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
Yeah, and this game looked to be bloody players getting
peeled left and right.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
Yeah, that was Fred made the decision to go with
a Giant and was just doing Giant things.
Speaker 3 (53:32):
Well, the Giant's not bad if your pune's got wrestle
because it's got a Junker naut, but it doesn't have block.
The thing is is like Juggernaut block is really sick
against a wrestler because then you just like blitz them
and put them on the ground, whereas, like the Giant,
(53:54):
you're usually going to get to three dice with it,
and if you knock people on the ground, Budie Blue
plus two will stack up pretty quickly. And the I
actually like the giants footprint against ELF teams quite a bit.
You do need to like babysit the Giant because you
don't want them putting people in the back tackle zones.
You probably need to like give the Giant like a
(54:16):
bodyguard just to make sure that it's it doesn't get
trapped somewhere. But if you're three dicing in ELF a turn,
it'll stack up pretty quickly.
Speaker 2 (54:29):
Yeah, yeah, it seemed like, yeah, I think this is
I think Fred got a one turn in this game.
Speaker 3 (54:37):
It looked like he scored with a halfling.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
Yeah, so that's like a the thing that it seems
like people are starting to unlock in the league more.
Speaker 2 (54:46):
It's like one term potential.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
Yeah right right, you gotta see your rerules for it.
And I think that's something something people don't do, right,
is the they will burn through their rerolls on defense
trying to stop their opponent from scoring when they didn't
really even have an option. And then you need to
(55:12):
try to get a one turn and guess what, You've
got a reroll for like eight different roles you need
to make.
Speaker 1 (55:18):
So all right, our last game of this three game
stand that happened yesterday, all while I was also playing.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
But Little Signs of Mayhem matched up another win, two one.
Speaker 1 (55:31):
Over those who wander This was a game Will said
he got like two casualts against stotlings.
Speaker 3 (55:38):
Yeah that's pretty bad.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
Yeah, not a not a winning combination.
Speaker 3 (55:41):
No, not at all. I was gonna say. I had
to be extremely frustrating if you're the cash Chowsen player here.
You got all those skills, you got soft targets, you
got stuff to in theory to keep you alive versus
this team, and will didn't take like a ton of damage.
It's just you can. If you can't inflict damage on
(56:01):
the Snotling team, then it's not really fair, right, Like
they're balanced around they're balanced around the fact that they
should just vaporize if you get enough hits on them.
But yeah, that's that the way the math plays out
on it.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
Right, Yeah, Yeah, that seem to be kind of what happened.
Speaker 1 (56:20):
I mean, the styling the one took Morgan Dragons game
and just like a little bit of strength advantage can
go a decent way.
Speaker 3 (56:31):
Yeah, my experience with corn was I don't like it
when my people have when my opponents have players that
are stronger than me. Yeah for sure that that's where
that's where things go sideways.
Speaker 2 (56:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (56:48):
Oh right, Well, we got our immorium section before we
get into just some more deep dies and some previews
our immorying. This week, we have throll skull Lasher alignment
for rat Patui first game in first game.
Speaker 3 (57:01):
Out it's your it's your first blood sacrifice. That actually,
I think is a good omen for the rest of
the league. If you sacrifice the player in your first game,
good things are coming your way.
Speaker 2 (57:13):
Then we had Naba dread Bleeder lineman for tri Hards.
Speaker 3 (57:17):
And a random tackle on that player.
Speaker 1 (57:19):
So one of less tackle in the league is something
makes me very happy. We had Alvis lineman for arber Vite.
Speaker 3 (57:26):
Yeah, that Woodolf player did not have plat armor on
like all the stupid ward answers I had to play against.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (57:34):
I had two players I in back to back turns
by the hands of Hafe the Stumbleolina and a Journeyman,
both line women. Yep, both games are life the costs
causing Chase mental distress.
Speaker 2 (57:50):
We'll take that as a win.
Speaker 1 (57:52):
Then we had a Rubpine, a Braban lineman for second
act who lives on as.
Speaker 2 (57:58):
Mummy zombie for the.
Speaker 3 (58:02):
Actually, I think there's like a ton of zombies this league, right,
There's actually like a huge amount of zombies that have
been created.
Speaker 1 (58:09):
Yeah, and finally we have Kettle Grum, a brain chaser.
It's a lineman for the wolf Pack that had a
skill beaten down just straight Clobbard.
Speaker 3 (58:20):
Yeah, he hit Guard. I'm not sad to see a
Guard player dive before I have to play him. So yeah, sorry.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
All right, well, I think we're gonna take a quick
break right here, and we come back. We'll do some
deep dives and some previews. Okay, so we're heading in
the week eight officially. Now some of us, most of
us are.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
Some of us are past it. Yeah, many of us
are not in it, correct, yes, but.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
We figured, we talked some playoffs, try to give some
early predictions about what could happen.
Speaker 3 (58:55):
Did you ever watch Legion? Legion okay and the third
and you have a time traveling character and they actually
have like this, It's like this awesome visual depiction of
traveling through time on television. Basically, she walks into a
hallway and the hallway extending in front of her and
behind her is like different time periods or whatever. She
(59:18):
just kind of like walks to the next time period
that she wants to and she walks out of it.
It works really well for a visual medium. Just imagine
it in your audio medium right now. That's that's where
we're at with people. They're traveling in this hallway up
and down.
Speaker 2 (59:32):
Yes, so, but especially this hallway will have an end.
Speaker 3 (59:36):
Yeah, we're traveling to the end of the hallway.
Speaker 1 (59:38):
Yeah, we're we're trying to get there. So I guess
in your mind, how do you see currently playoffs checking out?
Speaker 3 (59:47):
So there is a big question mark in the leg
day division as to what the cutoff is, and I
think you have I have Technically, I don't think anybody's
mathematically eliminated right now, right. I think the way it
(01:00:08):
stands is if like the number one people in each
division lose all of the rest of their games, and
like the people who are dead last in the division
win all of the rest of their games, then you
have scenarios where the people who are last will make
the playoff cut Now, I'd love to see that happen
(01:00:31):
because I'm not first in neither division. But is that
likely to happen? Probably not, right, So, I think while
our division, I mean, I'm in the hot seat in
our division, right, there's any number of people who are
like directly just outside the standings that if they go
(01:00:51):
on a tear, including playing against me and winning, that
puts me basically like two games behind to that point
that they could usurp me jump into the eighth slot,
eight or seven slot and push me out. We've got
a real we've got a real crap bucket situation going
on here in our side. But the other division has
(01:01:16):
kind of like uh uh, there are multiple people who
are fighting who are gonna end up fighting for that
last spot, and I think it'll get really competitive down
the line, right.
Speaker 2 (01:01:30):
Yeah, Like it's definitely a it's definitely be close. Like
I know right now, there's some teams that are sitting
outside that really are potentially gonna have a good run.
But like main when I'm looking.
Speaker 1 (01:01:43):
At Clay, Yeah, Clay has like far and away played
the toughest schedule out of anyone in that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
Half of the league.
Speaker 1 (01:01:57):
So he's gonna he's looking at like playing a bunch
of people that are low him left or like people
either directly below him or people right above him in.
Speaker 2 (01:02:06):
The standings that he would have to win against any
way in order to get in.
Speaker 1 (01:02:11):
So I think, like sitting at tenth is not the
best place you want to be five games left in
the season, But I think Clay is controlling his own
destiny here right right.
Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
So yeah, it gets a hot streak from here. I mean,
you rattle off five wins. Traditionally, I think being above
fifty percent puts your chances of being in the playoffs
really really high. So we could go back and look
at last like previous leagues, which I think we've done
in the past, just go look at like how many
points it took to get in. Usually, if you're at
(01:02:42):
like twenty something points, you're in great shape. You don't
have anything to worry about. You're you're a lock. I
do think the jockeying for position will be really interesting, right.
I think most people want an ideal scenario. Their ideal
scenario involves both Snotling teams in the same division with
(01:03:03):
ur Agen. That's their ideal scenario. You have this scary
dwarf team that goes and beats up the Snotling teams
for you, and that would be like a dream come
true for a number of people. However, if you've got
your team built to kill Snotlings and you play against
(01:03:24):
two of them, then you're probably in good shape by
that point. It's just a high variance team. I wouldn't
necessarily want to play against the Snotlings. I was even
contemplating how much how many skills I need to devote
to disturbing presence just to throw off the bomb and
(01:03:45):
throw teammate game plans. If that makes sense. It depends
on how much of that, because that's really my only
recourse is make some disturbing presence players to to really
mess up bomb throwing to make it way less reliable.
And this isn't good against teams that want to beat
(01:04:08):
you up, but it would be good against like elf players, Right,
any of these passing teams that are that are trucking around,
you could certainly mess them up quite a bit.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Yeah, yeah, I think, yeah, like they I think it's
definitely the more interesting division I need to look at,
just because we have more games, we have more data
on them. Like if you look at total body, there's
like a lot of ways things can go and don't
really don't really know how it's going to shake out, but.
Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
Yeah, you've got so like the jump in total body,
the jump from you have a you've got a couple
of people with five wins, yourself included. You've got a
string of people all have four wins, and then you've
(01:05:05):
got me with three, and then you've got a couple
of people you have like one jack with two, right,
and then from there, a lot of these people only
have like one win maybe some draws, right, and so
a lot of them are you know, they don't they
don't even have two wins worth of points at this point,
(01:05:28):
and so that the last the eighth spot could be
highly contentious down the stretch, depending on how these games
play out.
Speaker 1 (01:05:41):
Give some hearkening back to season eight with the top division,
was that kind of way where there were a bunch
of people in the last few weeks trying to fight
for those spots where the second division is like you
needed you like needed to be at twenty points to
secure it, and I think they cut off for the
other division.
Speaker 3 (01:05:59):
Was like yeah, yeah, And that's just the interesting nature.
I mean, the NFL plays out like this occasionally, right,
Like you'll have a seven and nine Seahawks team from
like two thousand and eight or whatever it was that
makes it into the playoffs, limps into the playoffs just
due to the nature of like how the teams around
them performed. That's just the nature of a system like this, right,
(01:06:22):
So it's you you've got some elf teams you'd have
to prepare for. I think like you just have like
a wide gamut of teams you have to be ready
to play against in the first round. And we're close
to kind of a battleship league where we may as
(01:06:45):
well make our teams just bloated and as unwieldy as possible,
because if you get so many inducements, if you're going
to give the snotling player inducements past like a million,
they really can't effectively use it anymore. Right, once they're
at two star players plus the Giant plus Wizard, the
Diminishian returns kicks in. And so if you go into
(01:07:08):
that team, if you go into that game with like
two million team value and you can also snipe more
go out from underneath of them or whatever, then you
know whatever, you know, like, what's your game plan? What's
your game plan?
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
Then?
Speaker 3 (01:07:24):
Smart guy, you know what if I take the Giant,
you know, we have two giants on the field, We're
gonna do about that type of thing, right, you know, Uh,
there's there's a lot you could do headed to the
playoffs if you've got time to prepare for them. And
then if you're playing against like all these other teams,
it's to your advantage to have slightly more team value
(01:07:47):
than everybody else, right, because then you get to decide
what kind of inducements are used in your game, right
if you are if you're going into the game and
you got fifteen k over them, then they're not. They
don't get anything, right, And so if you can keep
your team value just slightly, hire whatever they do, they
(01:08:08):
hire somebody, you hire somebody else, right, like you you
play that that the really tiki taki back and forth
inducement game. You go into those games and control what
they get access to. Then it's just whoever you got
the better team and whoever can roll better. Uh So, yeah,
I mean I think that's uh, that's kind of what
(01:08:29):
you got to start planning for at this point. I
mean a lot of it, I think is building your
team for the playoffs. I would love to get my
team back to where it was at the end of
last season. I just like, my team looks very similar
to what it did last season, and I just have
the crazy teeth be so much more effective, and then
(01:08:54):
also have like a beast man who is so good
at carrying the ball that I don't have to worry
about that anymore. Then I would feel a lot better.
I really liked my my team into the last playoff
situation last time. I'd love to get I'd love to
duplicate that again if I could. So you know, that's
(01:09:15):
that's kind of where we're at. It's just like, what
what do you what are you trying to assemble for
the playoffs?
Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
Yeah? Yeah, Like that's definitely been a thing of as.
Speaker 1 (01:09:24):
I've got some players that are like sitting with a
good amount of SPP right now, and I'm like, you know,
weighing like between games, like is this where do I
just like fire off a skill? Do I say for
this am I taking? Do I need this skill to
win this game? Or is this something I can go without?
Like does that's like the calculus going forward for the rest.
Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
Of the season.
Speaker 1 (01:09:49):
And I'm still like, yeah, I've got seven games left,
so I'm hoping right now, my goal is to keep
pace with Urien for most SPP.
Speaker 3 (01:09:58):
Yeah, goal is to crack into the top SPP. By
my accounts, I am like a few dozen SPP outside
of it. Now I could crack into it by taking SPP.
So the problem is is like the two of the
(01:10:21):
people that I that I have to play, you and
John Jennings with necro You guys are ahead of me
on the SPP chart, so I could I could take
your players from you and maybe that frees up enough
spot on the chart for me to crack into it.
But I do feel like I've been having to play
catch up the whole time this league this time around
(01:10:43):
because I only brought over three skilled players because the
corner players are just so expensive compared to Amazons.
Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
So skill issue.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
Yeah, any any last thoughts, like what are your for
your playoffs?
Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
I don't think a snotling player is going to win
the league. Have I cursed the league with a snotling
winner by saying that? I think there's too many things
that can go wrong in snotling games, and then they
have to like you have to basically play four games
in a row of perfect blood bowl with snotlings to
get to the end.
Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
Right, Yeah, I definitely agree with that. I think the people's.
Speaker 1 (01:11:31):
Approaches to the game are just going to change drastically
between a league and like, just like a normal league,
mass and the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
Right, you could you could have somebody, I mean like
Ness has a history of this. He fired a whole
bunch of players before playing against a stunty player in
the past. Right, you might have a player decide to
take like that Scorched Earth approach and then like cut
their team down to like Journey then and give you
like one hundred and eighty k to play with, right,
(01:12:00):
fire fire down to nothing but like dark Elf linemen
and have like one good dark Elf blitzer that you
use to go get the ball or whatever. Yeah, I
could see something like that happening, right, I personally wouldn't
do that because I think you're better off with like
an actual team with skills. Right, And sure, maybe you
win won that game, but you got to win all
the rest of the games too.
Speaker 2 (01:12:21):
Yeah, I think it'd be an interesting finals.
Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
But you think, like I just think that, you know,
going into Chase's game, I was very much just like
I'm trying to get out of this game unscared was
my goal.
Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
Like, I'm not trying to win. I'm not going to
just like.
Speaker 1 (01:12:40):
Like I'm still going to try to like you know,
do things, but like I'm not like full sending things.
Speaker 2 (01:12:46):
I'm not trying to like go super hard.
Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
I'm not willing to like make any risky plays if
it's the playoffs, going all in on.
Speaker 3 (01:12:55):
It, Like I am just fire the treasury into the game,
whatever you gotta do.
Speaker 1 (01:12:59):
Yeah, like you were Yeah, like, if if you were
the thing, if it's not only teams the thing standing
between you and playing another game, like, you're going to
be looking at it differently than people are looking at
these league games where they're just like, this is a
very annoying stabby roadblock for me.
Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
So exactly, that's gonna be the.
Speaker 3 (01:13:17):
Thing, right one I want to beat some SPP out
of if I can do it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
Yeah, so yeah, that's I think that's gonna be then
interesting thing. I think if I had a like.
Speaker 2 (01:13:29):
If I had to make a crazy prediction.
Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
For it, I don't know. Do you think an ELF
team will win?
Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
I think if I was, if I was feeling spicy
to make a prediction, I would say that.
Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
I think that, you know, I think there's a chance
and ELFEM doesn't make it out.
Speaker 1 (01:13:54):
Of the first round, okay, barring an elfie Elf mashup.
Speaker 3 (01:13:58):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:13:59):
I think that a bunch of people brought over skills
that are like very like anti elf people are like
in leg Day Division specifically, people are feeling very a
lot of anti elf energy in the air due to
that one agility.
Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
Right, So I think people are like loaded up on tackle.
Speaker 1 (01:14:18):
Like, I think one of the scariest teams again, I
have not played dadis Jennings.
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
He's got a lot of tackle, a lot of mighty
blow on his team.
Speaker 1 (01:14:27):
I'm hoping that is like the now the game for
me that I'm like, I need to survive this game.
That's like the big that's like the big roadblock that
I'm like worried about it.
Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
I'm looking at I'm looking at currently three tackle for
mighty blow, four guard and eight block and four bloggers.
So that's just a lot of skills, right, and he's
(01:14:59):
got a he's even got a strip ball gohoul on
his team right now. Yeah, I mean we we picked
him as the as like a favorite for the division, right,
and his team he's sitting in second place at five
to one one. His one loss was an absolute debacle
against wood Elves, Right, I mean how many how many
(01:15:24):
casualties did he cause in that game? Two? Let's see one,
you got one casually against what else? Right? That's just
glow rolling, right, That's what that's gotta be. So yeah,
(01:15:44):
I don't know. Yeah, I mean I think his team
is scary. I still got to play him and now,
granted that game is probably like when we fight, there's
gonna be like a creator where our team's collided and
hopefully mine is the one still standing. But he's got
(01:16:06):
a lot of claws and a lot of money.
Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
Blow ye right.
Speaker 3 (01:16:09):
The games where the Crazy Teeth pays for himself for
the games I win by a landslide, and the games
where the Crazy Teeth caves himself on a triple skull
on turn two of a half are the games where
I lose. So if I could get through a game,
I think at this point, Crazy Teeth has rolled. He's
rolled two triple skulls, and I believe he's rolled like
(01:16:29):
a double skull in every game so far, with the
exception of Joel's game. So yeah, I mean, what are
you going to do with that now? Jennings also told
me that he's rolled the most double skulls he's ever
rolled in a season with this team, so that might
be part of the reason why he doesn't have as
(01:16:52):
many casualties as you possibly could have depending on how
like deadly his team looks.
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
Right, So yeah, yeah, no, it's gonna be Yeah. I'm
excited to get to talking to the playoffs. It's gonna
be a good show. Get some more live streams action
for it.
Speaker 3 (01:17:09):
So yeah, good, that'll be fun. All right, I think
we're that's that's a wrap for this episode.
Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
Yeah, at a quick hits, any games this week you're
interested in?
Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
Uh, the Wayne and Chase game? Yeah, I mean we
got to that's the whole reason they're in the same division.
Chase called out Wayne at the beginning, at the end
of last season or whatever. It was like, we're never
in the same division. So Wayne was like, Okay, well
we'll be in the same division.
Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:17:33):
Now, when I played this matchup, it did not go
well for me. So Wayne's got way more rerolls and
He's actually got way more skills than I did when
I had to play this matchup, so uh, maybe it'll
go better for him, But when I played it, it
was not pretty.
Speaker 1 (01:17:51):
Yeah, I've learned the secret of being in the Chase
is to be thirty minutes late for the first styl
and just roll five.
Speaker 2 (01:17:58):
Yeah, that is the advice I can get.
Speaker 1 (01:18:00):
If you want anything deeper than that, you can subscribe
to my Patreon all the Chase beating tips.
Speaker 3 (01:18:07):
Another game I want to shout out with the Idens game,
I got. I gotta feel an I's going into this
game super motivated to cost me him because right now
he's on the outside looking into the top eight and
ness is kind of on a heater, and but ness
will be down the four strength, which alf which means
I think I can probably push the dark elves around.
Speaker 2 (01:18:31):
This is a game that's interesting to me.
Speaker 1 (01:18:33):
I talked to Clay a little bit last night because
I think play sass, play nests also, and this is
like a game where we're gonna see the full We
could possibly see the full potential of Nessa's super Starplesser
since it has Dauntless. So this is a mashup with
a lot of strength for players that Dauntless might come
in handy. Yeah, being able to do something here not
(01:18:54):
one hundred certain, but I mean this is like a
mashup where you might get your money's worth out of
that skill.
Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
Yeah, yeah, you could for sure. I'm still not convinced
that Dauntless is necessarily good on a elf blitzer. It's
certainly daunts is a skill I never want to take.
But I love players that have a trolls layers falcyries
for instance. Even the White Dwarf. So, but I mean,
(01:19:22):
I guess we'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
Hopefully.
Speaker 1 (01:19:25):
That's all I got this week since I were wrapping up.
So if you got anything else to say to us,
if we didn't send this episode, you know where we work,
so come find us. But yeah, thank you for listening.
Wherever you're listening to this, you can go give us
a follow, like notification, subscription, whatever it is, whatever you
call it, give us those, uh, so we can keep
(01:19:47):
making more of these and we'll catch you'all next week,
hopefully with some more games of our Inwento recaps hopefully.
Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
Yeah. Yeah, but I should have at least mine.
Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
Yeah, I'm playing a game tomorrow. It's on my weekend, a.
Speaker 3 (01:20:00):
Game, but we'll have some for you, all right, goodbye everybody.
Speaker 1 (01:20:05):
H m hm
